A veteran Bronx educator claims she was fired in part because she refused to mimic a salute to Black power from the 2018 comic-book movie “Black Panther” during superintendent meetings.

At official gatherings of high-level Department of Education bosses, then-Bronx superintendent Meisha Ross Porter often asked the group to do the arms-across-the-chest gesture of solidarity from the mythical African nation of Wakanda. The salute is considered a symbol of empowerment.

When Rafaela Espinal — a Dominican-American who describes herself as Afro-Latina — declined to join in, she “was admonished and told that it was inappropriate for her not to participate,” according to a Manhattan Supreme Court lawsuit filed Feb. 3 against the city DOE, Chancellor Richard Carranza and some of his top-ranking lieutenants.

Espinal was one year shy of earning a lifetime DOE pension when she was abruptly fired from her role as head of Community School District 12 in Bronx without explanation, after repeatedly refusing to do the “Wakanda Forever” salute, according to the lawsuit.

Desperate to keep her retirement benefits and health insurance, the single mom — who recently earned a doctorate — eventually accepted a humiliating demotion to school investigator, a role which requires only a high school diploma and which left her with no permanent desk or phone.

Porter, who was later elevated by Carranza to the post of “executive superintendent,” a promotion she celebrated with a lavish gala, has a Twitter timeline packed with group shots of DOE staff doing the “Wakanda Forever” salute. One shot features Carranza — who couldn’t manage to perform the gesture correctly in the pose — and Espinal.

The image showed Carranza, Porter, Espinal and others during the chancellor’s tour of the five boroughs, according to a source.

But when repeatedly asked to salute “Wakanda” at other professional meetings, Espinal felt the gesture “introduced a racial divide where there should be none,” said her lawyers, Israel Goldberg, Helen Setton and Domenic Recchia.

Surely, they would be angry at anyone who refuses to endorse this fantasy, as a means to protect their their own personal dignity.

No objective measure of black life has increased as a result of any of this Black Lives Matter revolutionary Marxist agenda. Instead, the crime in black neighborhoods has skyrocketed, including the murder rate. (But I guess it feels good to be the center of attention.)

This was always about stripping white people of their dignity.

The Black Panther was most well-known for being the king of the African nation of Wakanda.

Wakanda is a highly technological nation in Africa, and their use of flying saucers, automatic doors and ultra-fast elevators proved once and for all that black people are not as stupid as everyone thinks they are.

Wakanda is not a democracy, and is instead an absolute monarchy. The palace has not yet announced who will take T’Challa’s place on the throne, but it is known that it will be a black guy.

Some Twitter users were a bit confused during the Oscars on Sunday as the Central Intelligence Agency tweeted about the fictional technology behind the Marvel superhero film “Black Panther.”

The agency sent out a dozen or so tweets about the science featured in the Oscar-winning film and even asked for advice on which “Black Panther” technology its 2.5 million followers would like to see used in “the real world.” It also tweeted a series of photos and poll questions “to get your views on the feasibility of Wakandan technology today,” referring to the fictional African nation where much of the film takes place.

The agency, which has received backlash for meddling in African affairs in past, also linked to press release from a CIA scientist named Rebecca, who it said had researched “Black Panther” communication technology.

This should be enough to clear doubts about the CIA working towards white genocide.

Quite the phenomenon this Black Panther thing.

It’s still being promoted today, a year after it was released, because it’s an effective way to provide an artificial identity to black people.

Blacks don’t really have a history and their identity boils down to “white man bad, slavery bad, gibsmedat.” They know this, deep down, which is why Wakanda was so effective at taking over their hearts.

It gives them meaning, a meaning they’ve been longing for for far too long.

Blacks were never Egyptians. They never invented anything. No wheel, no written language… nothing but mud huts.

You can’t expect much from them.

The Marvel blockbuster hit became the first comic book-based film to earn a best picture nomination from the Academy Awards on Tuesday. It was a major step for comic book movies, which had previously been shunned from film’s top honor.

The most notable snub was 2008′s “The Dark Knight,” prompting the academy to expand the best picture category from five to up to 10 nominees.

It took a decade, but “Black Panther” cracked the category after becoming a box-office hit domestically and a cultural phenomenon. The film earned $700 million domestically during its theatrical run.

Overall, “Black Panther” was rewarded a total of seven nominations including Hannah Beachler and Jay Hart’s production design, Ruth E. Carter’s costume design and Kendrick Lamar and SZA’s song “All the Stars.” The film was also nominated for best sound editing, sound mixing and original score.

Beachler became the first African-American nominee for production design.

“To break down a wall like that, to be your ancestors’ wildest dreams, to show other young women of color and boys and girls that you can do whatever you want no matter what struggles you have in your life — all of that. That’s what it means to me,” said Beachler, talking by phone from the Cincinnati set of Todd Haynes’ latest film.

Hannah, your ancestors’ wildest dreams are not exactly what you think they are…

The success of Black Panther speaks about the feeling of rootlessness that blacks feel.

They grow up in a world made by the white man, where relevant history features people with light skin, and where every important invention has white people behind it. They notice themselves missing, and they’re told that is because of slavery, because of colonialism, because of the white man’s evil.

Blacks don’t come from anywhere because they’re still where they started, and I think they are aware of that, deep down.

This movie gave them an alternative narrative. Wakanda gave them a backstory explaining why they aren’t featured in the history of the world aside from mentions of slavery, and they deem that backstory plausible because blacks have very basic brains, often surpassed by gorillas in IQ.

They don’t need the story to be real, they just need it to feel good, and Wakanda feels good. “Wakanda forever,” they say.

It shows them what they would be like if not for the white man.

But it’s a lie.

What they’d be like if not for the white man is still visible in the real world.

It must be hard for them to come to terms with their true nature and their true history, and blacks are known for shying away from difficult stuff. They just don’t have the capacity for anything greater than huts made from shit and mud.

They don’t even have the brainpower to keep their mouths closed while doing other stuff, like posing for a scene.

Just like children believing in Santa, blacks believe in Wakanda. It’s not about the existence of Wakanda, it’s about what Wakanda means, what it represents, and it represents one of their most known modern fantasies.

It means they were kangs.

It means they’re really worthy of their place in this world. It means they did something. It means their existence accounted for something.

Some Omi women choose to wear a saucer lip plate, called a dhebi a tugoin. The procedure involves girl’s lower lip being cut when she reaches the age of 15 or 16, then the wound is stretched over time but inserting slightly bigger discs to eventually fit a large clay plate. When the lip is stretchy enough for a big plate the two bottom teeth are removed

The Omi tribe are known for expressing their emotions through facial expressions and do not hide their mood and often use dancing and singing to express themselves. Not all women get lip piercing and the process can be very painful. Mr Morris added: ‘The process starts when the girl is a teenager. It is a strange practice that looks extremely painful and uncomfortable’

After seeing Wakanda with your own eyes, you may be left wondering “why do they do that to themselves?”

A 36-year old man from the Luapula province of Zambia ended up being lynched by an angry mob for allegedly committing a murder after turning into a crocodile, according to Zambia Reports news website.

The incident reportedly occurred on November 28, when residents from three villages “mobilised, brutally murdered and buried” Musenge, who allegedly “turned into a human crocodile” and killed a 20-year old woman when she went fishing.

In case you’ve missed the entire ‘Black Panther only for black kids’ debate, here it is. When the Marvel superhero movie was released in January, it was both a major commercial success and a cultural event for many people. After all, it featured a predominantly black cast, borrowed heavily from African cultures for its setting and its core conflict was about how to best deal with the toxic legacy of black slavery and racism in the US.

But for some people the flick’s popularity posed a very peculiar question – is it appropriate for parents of white children to allow them to wear a Black Panther costume for Halloween. Not a simple question to answer in a country, where questioning the blackface taboo can cost a career.
