As is the case every twenty-five years, 2025 will be a jubilee year for the Catholic Church, which means that huge numbers of pilgrims will flock to Rome for the occasion. A few days before Christmas, the Vatican issued a highly restrictive decree designed to impose severe penalties on anyone attempting to enter the world’s smallest state illegally. The existence of this decree was only revealed by the Italian press on January 12th.

The sovereign state of the Vatican was created by the 1929 Lateran Agreement between Benito Mussolini and Pope Pius XI. Putting an end to the ‘Roman question,’ i.e., the gradual disappearance of the Pope’s temporal power in Italy during the process of unification of modern Italy, these agreements established an independent territory of 44 hectares in the city of Rome, over which the Pope has sole sovereignty. The rules for entering and leaving this territory are precise and restrictive, and the decree of December 2024 reinforces them even further.

Sister Simona Brambilla, who will turn 60 on March 27, previously served as the Superior General of the Consolata Missionaries.

Pope Francis appointed her on Monday, the Solemnity of the Epiphany, as Prefect of the Dicastery for Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life.

She has served as Secretary of the same Dicastery since October 7, 2023, and becomes the first woman to be appointed Prefect of a Dicastery of the Holy See.

On July 8, 2019, the Pope for the first time appointed seven women as members of the Dicastery for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life. Later, Sr. Brambilla was first chosen as Secretary of the Dicastery and now as Prefect.

Since the beginning of Pope Francis’s pontificate, the presence of women in the Vatican has increased. According to overall data covering both the Holy See and Vatican City State from 2013 to 2023, the percentage of women has risen from 19.2% to 23.4%.

A pathway outlined by the Apostolic Constitution Praedicate Evangelium of 2022, the Pope has made it possible for laypeople, including women, to lead a Dicastery and become Prefect, a role previously reserved for Cardinals and Archbishops.

In Vatican City State, Pope Francis has appointed two women to leadership positions during his pontificate. In 2016, he named Barbara Jatta as Director of the Vatican Museums, which has traditionally been led by laypeople. Curiously, in his attempt to explain why the African bishops rejected en masse a proposal to bless gay couples, Father Radcliffe does not look to biblical teaching on homosexuality nor to the Church’s unchanging doctrine condemning gay sex.

Instead, he suggests that “African bishops are under intense pressure from Evangelicals, with American money; from Russian Orthodox, with Russian money; and from Muslims, with money from the rich Gulf countries.”

Maybe ask why then that if every religion is against gays, the Catholic Church is going to Africa and telling men to take it in the ass?

Why are they doing that? What is the end game?

In other words, if the African bishops are rejecting the idea of blessing same-sex couples, it cannot be out of fidelity to Christ and his Gospel; it must represent a caving to external pressures.

If Father Radcliffe had bothered to read Cardinal Ambongo’s own explanation for the African bishops’ action, things might have been somewhat clearer.

“In Africa there is no place to bless homosexual couples. Not at all,” the cardinal stated.

Blessings for individual persons are given “in the hope that the grace of the blessing can help them convert,” he said. “And if we bless a homosexual, it is also to say that ‘your sexual orientation is not in accordance with the will of God and we hope that the blessing can help you change because homosexuality is condemned in the Bible and by the magisterium of the Church.’”

“We cannot be promoters of sexual deviation. Let them do it in their homes, but not in ours,” he said.

See: the black is clearly saying that you are allowed to bless homosexuals, but only in the context of urging them to stop being gay. What the Vatican is now pushing is something completely different, saying that they will bless the homosexual act.

Unbiased readers may have trouble understanding how such a statement — which faithfully reflects Catholic moral teaching — could represent capitulation to Evangelicals, Orthodox, and Muslims.

Similarly, Bishop Martin Mtumbuka of the Karonga Diocese in Malawi told the faithful of his diocese in a Christmas Eve address last year to “forget and ignore this controversial and apparently blasphemous declaration in its entirety.”

“Was this letter written to please homosexuals and their promoters?” Bishop Mtumbuka asked.

The document Fiducia Supplicans “looks to us like a heresy; it reads like a heresy; and its effects a heresy,” he said.

“It’s sad; the Catholic Church is old, as old as Christianity itself; this has never happened before,” he said. “But we have no choice; we cannot allow such an offensive and apparently blasphemous declaration to be implemented in our Dioceses.”

“Millions of people are on the road fleeing from poverty and violence,” he continued. “Hundreds have drowned in the Mediterranean not far from here.”

“Many parents refuse to bring children into a world that appears doomed,” he said. “In China, young people wear T-shirts saying, ‘We are the last generation.’”

The preacher went on to suggest that in the face of the divine, where one stands on doctrinal matters is of little importance.

“If we are truly on the way to the Kingdom, does it really matter whether you align yourselves with so-called traditionalists or progressives?” he asked.

Father Radcliffe has been a vocal supporter of progressive causes for decades, often lending his voice to the lobby to rehabilitate gay sex, insisting there is always time for future “evolution” on Catholic moral teaching, which has made him a darling of the LGBT lobby.

“The question always put is: is the Church’s teaching going to change? That’s not the issue,” Radcliffe said last year in relation to the Church’s moral stance against gay sex. “The issue is, will we love and welcome our fellow human beings?”

“If there are evolutions to happen, they will happen,” he added, “but you don’t start off by asking what changes have to be made.”

Radcliffe has publicly opposed the Church’s ban on admitting men with homosexual tendencies into seminaries to become priests.

In an interview with the London Times in 2005, Radcliffe argued that while “homophobia or misogyny” should be grounds for rejecting a candidate for the priesthood, his homosexuality should not.

The Vatican broke its silence Saturday on the controversial drag performance that mocked Leonardo da Vinci’s iconic “Last Supper” painting during the 2024 Paris Olympics’ opening ceremony last week.

The segment of the July 26 ceremony controversially replaced the biblical scene of Jesus Christ and his apostles sharing a final meal before his crucifixion with drag queens, a transgender model and singer dressed as Dionysus, the Greek god of wine and pleasure.

The Vatican said that the performance, which sparked global outrage, showed a lack of “respect for others.”

“The Holy See was saddened by certain scenes at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games and cannot but join the voices raised in recent days to deplore the offense done to many Christians and believers of other religions,” it said in an unusual weekend evening press release.

It’s definitely unusual on levels beyond it being a weekend press release.

Aside from the fact that it took a week, why did they say “believers in other religions”? Why would those people be offended? Maybe people in general are offended by mockery of anyone’s sacred beliefs. I don’t want to see the beliefs of other people mocked with trannies. So maybe that makes sense. But the way the statement is issued, it’s like the Vatican couldn’t ever defend Christians alone, they have to also be defending brown people or whatever.

It cited Viganò’s “refusal to recognise and submit to the supreme pontiff, his rejection of communion with the members of the church subject to him, and of the legitimacy and magisterial authority of the second Vatican council.”

In other words: he’s right about everything.

The Vatican excommunication means that Viganò is formally outside the church, and cannot celebrate or receive its sacraments, for having committed one of the gravest crimes in canon law: schism.

Schism is considered particularly dangerous to the faith because it threatens the unity of the church. Viganò had created a following of like-minded conservatives and traditionalists over the years as he delved deeper and deeper into conspiracy theories about the coronavirus pandemic and what he called the “great reset”, plus other fringe ideas.

Viganò knew the schism declaration was coming after the Vatican informed him that it was launching a penal process against him last month. He called it “an honour” and refused to appear in person or in writing to defend himself.

Viganò, who issued a lengthy public statement last month justifying his conduct, didn’t directly respond to the schism declaration on X, his usual forum. About an hour before the Vatican decree was made public, he announced he would be celebrating a mass on Friday for those who had been supporting him and asked for donations.

In the dream scenario, Viganò declares himself Pope, and claims that Francis is an antipope.

More than likely though, he’s just going to join one of the existing sedevacatist groups.

But the ultimate move would be to say “actually, I’m the real Pope, and it’s time for all the Faithful to choose between me and this gay creep with the pagan idols and the abortion injections.”

Regardless of what he does personally, the schism has begun.

It was never viable to have an anal pope. That was never going to work. People kept saying “oh he’s not really an anal pope,” but then he came out and was like “oh yes I am.”

Now, we wait.

The future of the Catholic Church might be in the hands of Cardinal Carlo Maria Viganò.

There’s no reason for him to hold back now.
