Editor’s Note: I’m pretty sure this is news from a few weeks ago and NYT is just reporting on it late, but okay.

D&D is having some serious troubles.

This is worse than GamerGate. It’s ComicsGate tier.

Daily Mail:

Critics have slammed the newest installment of the Dungeons and Dragons rulebook for ‘going woke.’

In the game’s 2024 Player’s Handbook, ‘races’ are now ‘species’ and some character traits have been separated from biological identity, according to The New York Times.

‘A mountain dwarf is no longer inherently brawny and durable, a high elf no longer intelligent and dexterous by definition,’ the newspaper explained.

Are you going to have brawny high elves with the intelligence of orcs?

Apparently, that’s all possible now.

Wizards of the Coast, the Dungeons and Dragons publisher owned by Hasbro, implemented a trend that allows players to stop the game when they feel uncomfortable.

Players are encouraged to use a gesture such as crossing their arms in an X or raising their palm to pause the game, according to a section of the handbook shared on social media.

‘The signal shouldn’t trigger a debate or a discussion: thank the player for being honest about their needs, set the scene right, and move on,’ the book said.

Wtf?

So it’s like a BDSM session?

Why?

The foreword of the book shared online said the original game excluded and disrespected women as well as and portrayed slavery ‘not as a human tragedy but as a commercial transaction.’

Robert J. Kuntz, a game designer who frequently collaborated with co-creator of Dungeons and Dragons Gary Gygax told the Times he disliked the changes.

‘It’s an unnecessary thing,’ he said. ‘It attempts to play into something that I’m not sure is even worthy of addressing, as if the word ‘race’ is bad.’

…

Others have embraced the changes claiming they make the game more inclusive for players.

‘What they’re trying to do here is put up a signal flare, to not only current players but potential future players, that this game is a safe, inclusive, thoughtful and sensitive approach to fantasy storytelling,’ Ryan Lessard, a writer and frequent Dungeons & Dragons dungeon master told the Times.

‘Wanting all your players to be comfortable and have fun is good actually,’ one social media user said.

Turning the orcs into Mexicans was just the beginning

UK: University Puts Trigger Warning for White Supremacy on Peter Pan, Alice in Wonderland https://www.anglinarchive.com/2024/03/31/uk-university-puts-trigger-warning-for-white-supremacy-on-peter-pan-alice-in-wonderland/ Sun, 31 Mar 2024 00:00:00 +0000

Damn, boy.

Pan gone woke?

Never expected that.

Daily Mail:

Alice in Wonderland and Peter Pan and are among a collection of children’s stories that have been given a trigger warning for ‘white supremacy’.

York St John University warned students the stories may contain ‘colonialist narratives’, with vocabulary and illustrations which may appear ‘racist’.

Bosses put the disclaimer on the website of the Rees-Williams Collection of Children’s Literature, which contains over 3000 historical volumes.

Among these are Peter and Wendy by JM Barrie, and Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll.

Video from a year ago about a different university

The collection includes fables, fairy tales, adventure stories, religious works, annuals, and historical books.

…

The trigger warning states: ‘Within the 150 years of children’s writing which is represented in the collection, there is a widespread occurrence of colonialist narratives which centre white supremacy, and racist and orientalist methods of both fictional and historical storytelling.

‘As such, it is possible, if not likely, that items consulted from the collection will include language and visual imagery which is racist, and many people may find their contents upsetting and offensive.’

It says that the university aims to explain why such works are kept ‘when their ability to cause damage endures’.

Fun fact: the 1989 Peter Pan anime has no blacks or trannies in it

It says that they provide evidence of the ‘racist marginalisation and stereotyping of peoples through children’s literature’.

It adds: ‘Here at York St John University, we unequivocally reject the stereotypes and offensive narratives which are contained within these documents..’

The Peter Pan stories include some references to ‘savages’ inhabiting Neverland.

Some academics have suggested that the hookah-smoking caterpillar in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is an orientalist depiction, which uses stereotypes of an exotic East.

It seems evident that people are beginning to realize that this is all retarded nonsense.

Probably, a lot of people are now embarrassed for having gone along with it, and don’t want to admit they were wrong.

I’ve never personally met anyone who is willing to publicly talk about “trigger warnings” or “pronouns.” Polls continue to show that the overwhelming majority of people in white countries are uncomfortable with child trannies, which are at the core of this “woke ideology.”

Virginia Woolf Novel “The Lighthouse” Gets Trigger Warning https://www.anglinarchive.com/2023/07/05/virginia-woolf-novel-the-lighthouse-gets-trigger-warning/ Wed, 05 Jul 2023 00:00:00 +0000

I read this novel years ago, and I can’t remember a single “controversial” thing about it at all.

It’s just a story about a family going on vacation.

I don’t think it even has swearing in it.

GB News:

A Virginia Woolf book has been handed a trigger warning by publishers who raised concerns about its past attitudes and language.

The 1927 novel To the Lighthouse has been reissued with a disclaimer in a new edition intended for an American readership.

The publishing house Vintage, owned by Penguin Random House, made the decision to place the warning on the opening of Woolf’s classic novel about the Ramsey family and their Scottish holiday home.

It reads: “This book was published in 1927 and reflects the attitudes of its time.

“The publisher’s decision to present it as it was originally published is not intended as an endorsement of cultural representations or language contained herein.”

According to Woolf experts, there is no controversial content in the novel about the author’s own childhood holidays to St Ives – sparking concerns that publishers are now worried about the general potential of past literature to offend.

Prof Mark Hussey, a professor at Pace University, in New York – who has edited various Woolf works – told The Telegraph that the “notion of a warning to readers of potential offence in this novel quite ludicrous”.

Britain has gone nuts with this “offense” gibberish. None of it even makes any sense.

As a legitimate matter, I am offended that these people are so easily offended.

Clearly, you cannot base laws and policy on avoiding offending people.

Capcom Updates Game to Show Trigger Warning for “Insensitive Content” https://www.anglinarchive.com/2023/04/21/capcom-updates-game-to-show-trigger-warning-for-insensitive-content/ Fri, 21 Apr 2023 00:00:00 +0000
You don’t need any context to know that some fat woman somewhere got triggered by this

Et tu, Capcom?

Niche Gamer:

Now that the long-awaited Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection is finally out – Capcom has already rolled out updates for the release.

While most game updates fix bugs or add new content, this update adds an “insensitive content” warning that now shows before the game.

“Capcom values diversity and inclusivity within its games and its community,” the message begins.

“Please be aware the games in this collection may contain some cases of insensitive cultural depictions that are presented as originally created to preserve their authenticity.”

The Japanese message, however, is much different and mentions nothing about “diversity” and “inclusivity” that western Capcom translators posted.

“We respected the originality of the work so we used the expressions from the game when we originally created it,” the Japanese message reads.

With any of these “insensitive content” warnings slapped on old media being re-released, specific examples aren’t given likely to avoid further outrage.

However, fans were quick to point out it’s probably for content like the “Whiskey Rapper” that speaks in pure ebonics:

The above NPC goes through a hilariously bad rapping segment and even says things like “I pray every morning to my God and the chicken he provides.”

There’s some other examples of flavorful NPC speech from the games like this classy line “Women. Can’t live with ’em, can’t live without ’em, right?”

Capcom has been doing a lot of stuff like this lately, and this isn’t even the worse thing they’ve done.

They recently released some boring dinosaur game and used faggots in dresses to promote it, while in Japan they used some cutesy Vtubers.

Yeah…

That being said, I don’t think they’re going woke so much as they’re being told by the Jews and fat women working at their branches in the West that this is what the gaijin want, and there’s still plenty of normie retards who just buy basically anything that’s new and shiny to convince them it’s true.

Capcom and all these other Jap companies don’t do this stuff in Japan, or China, or eastern Europe, just in the West, and even then it’s by all accounts mostly restricted to the English-speaking countries.

So I’m pretty sure Japan is still okay, at least for now.

Jews did this

New Edition of Gone With the Wind to Include Long Essay on White Supremacy https://www.anglinarchive.com/2023/04/04/new-edition-of-gone-with-the-wind-to-include-long-essay-on-white-supremacy/ Tue, 04 Apr 2023 00:00:00 +0000

You people think this thing of changing historical works of fiction is just some wokie flight of fancy.

It’s not, actually. Well, it is that, but it is also a part of something much bigger and more important: they are preparing to actively rewrite history by changing historical texts.

Altering historical works is a comfortable way to ease in to altering real history books.

They have been getting a bit of pushback on the edits of old novels, so with this one they are just adding a large introduction saying the book is evil.

The Post Millennial:

Pan Macmillan, the publisher of Margaret Mitchell’s classic 1936 American novel Gone With The Wind, has added a trigger warning in the preface of the book’s most recent publication telling readers that the text is “harmful” and “problematic” because of its “white supremacist” qualities.

The Telegraph reports that the publisher specifically hired a white writer, Philippa Gregory, to pen an essay to accompany the trigger warning and detail the book’s “white supremacist” elements to avoid hiring a black writer and giving them the “emotional labour” of such a task.

Philippa Gregory

Gone With The Wind is set before and during the American Civil War and tracks protagonist Scarlett O’Hara, the daughter of a Southern plantation owner, as she navigates the tumult of her times. The story begins with O’Hara living in relative comfort and excess as she considers a variety of men to be her suitors but her lifestyle radically changes through the course of the war.

The book’s publisher now warns readers that they could find the way Mitchell depicted the South as “racist” and “‘hurtful or indeed harmful” and that the reader will encounter “shocking elements.”

The warning reads, “Gone with the Wind is a novel which includes problematic elements including the romanticisation of a shocking era in our history and the horrors of slavery.”

“The novel includes the representation of unacceptable practices, racist and stereotypical depictions and troubling themes, characterisation, language and imagery,” the warning continues.

The publisher notes that the “book remains true to the original in every way and is reflective of the language and period in which it was originally written” and they believe “changing the text to reflect today’s world would undermine the authenticity of the original, so has chosen to leave the text in its entirety.”

“This does not, however, constitute an endorsement of the characterisation, content or language used,” the publisher adds.

After the trigger warning, an essay appears by Philippa Gregory, The Other Boleyn Girl author, to tell the reader that Mitchell wrote her novel as an endorsement of the “Lost Cause” view of the American Confederacy, which is to say that the South was fighting for freedom from the Union under justified reasons.

Gregory said the book, “defends racism” and “glamorises and preaches white supremacy.”

Haha.

These people are hysterical.

But just wait and watch.

This series of attacks on a bunch of old novels no one was even thinking about is part of a broader strategy to rewrite history, and that is a strategy you’re going to see them try to implement relatively soon.

They are already doing it with the race-swapping of historical figures in film.

Eventually, they’re going to use the same logic to teach children that this is what the historical figures actually were.

Media outlets are already claiming that these race replacements in historical dramas on the BBC and Netflix are actually accurate.

They are just going to start teaching kids everyone in history that mattered was black, and whites were always just an evil nuisance.

But hey – maybe it won’t get that far?

It looks like the empire is about to collapse!

Shakespeare’s Global Theatre Adds Trigger Warning to Julius Caesar https://www.anglinarchive.com/2022/05/26/shakespeares-global-theatre-adds-trigger-warning-to-julius-caesar/ Thu, 26 May 2022 00:00:00 +0000

We’re going to fight a World War against Russia and China.

Let’s just hope they don’t say anything mean, or our military will have to surrender.

Breitbart:

Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre in London has added a trigger warning before a production of the Bard’s famed tragedy of Julius Caesar to warn attendees of potentially offensive content within the 1599 play.

Despite depicting perhaps the most famous assassination in history, theatre bosses at the Globe theatre have sought fit to provide audiences with “content guidance” that their production of William Shakespeare’s Tragedy of Julius Ceasar will include weapons and fake stage blood.

“Content guidance: Depictions of war, self-harm and suicide, stage blood and weapons including knives,” the trigger warning The Sun newspaper reported.

In addition to the trigger warning, the woke theatre company has also opted for a gender-bending diverse cast, with the role of Marcus Junius Brutus — the most famed assassin of Caesar — given to Anna Crichlow, a Black-British actress.

The production heads have also cast Roman senator and Caesar assasin Cassius with a female actress and Brutus’ wife with a black actress.

The Globe, which is located on the site of Shakespeare’s original theatre, will run the production from July to September.

It is not the first time that the Globe has decided to offer trigger warnings to the public over Shakespeare’s work, with a production of Romeo and Juliet warning last year: “This production contains depictions of suicide, moments of violence and references to drug use. It contains gunshot sound effects and the use of stage blood.

“If you have been affected by any of the issues raised in this production of Romeo and Juliet please find details below of organisations offering advice and support.”

Actor Christopher Biggins commented at the time: “Do we have to have signs for everything under the sun. It’s a joke. What they are trying to do is insulting to the mentality of theatre-goers.”

The theatre also embarked last year on a project of “decolonising the plays of Shakespeare” through a series of “Anti-racist Shakespeare webinars” hosted by a far-left professor Farah Karim-Cooper.

Shakespeare is probably reaching the end of his run.

There just isn’t any place in modern society for anything thoughtful or interesting, at all.

UK: University Puts Trigger Warning on Orwell’s 1984 https://www.anglinarchive.com/2022/01/26/uk-university-puts-trigger-warning-on-orwells-1984/ Wed, 26 Jan 2022 00:00:00 +0000

I guess this was bound to happen.

Frankly, I’m myself triggered by reading 1984.

It’s just difficult to process how something written nearly 75 years ago could be so accurate.

The College Fix:

In an Orwellian turn of events, the University of Northampton has put a trigger warning on George Orwell’s dystopian novel “1984,” citing “explicit material” that some students may find “offensive and upsetting,” the Daily Mail reports.

The Mail verified the existence of the trigger warning through a freedom of information request filed with the UK campus.

“There’s a certain irony that students are now being issued trigger warnings before reading Nineteen Eighty-Four,” Tory MP Andrew Bridgen told the Mail. “Our university campuses are fast becoming dystopian Big Brother zones where Newspeak is practised to diminish the range of intellectual thought and cancel speakers who don’t conform to it.”

The novel “1984” was published in 1949 “as a warning against totalitarianism,” according to Britannica. “The chilling dystopia made a deep impression on readers, and [Orwell’s] ideas entered mainstream culture in a way achieved by very few books.”

“The book’s title and many of its concepts, such as Big Brother and the Thought Police, are instantly recognized and understood, often as bywords for modern social and political abuses.”

A university spokesman said told the Mail that while “it is not university policy, we may warn students of content in relation to violence, sexual violence, domestic abuse and suicide. In these circumstances we explain to applicants as part of the recruitment process that their course will include some challenging texts.”

In addition to “1984” getting a trigger warning at the University of Northampton, the UK-based Salford University has put trigger warnings on Charlotte Bronte’s “Jane Eyre” and Charles Dickens’s “Great Expectations,” which are marked as “distressing,” the Daily Mail reports:

The warnings accompany a reading list given to students on Salford’s BA English literature course, and have been revealed in response to a Freedom of Information request.

…

Not to be outdone, students in America recently took trigger warnings to a whole new level.

The student-staffed Prevention, Advocacy and Resource Center at Brandeis University last year listed the term “trigger warning” itself as “oppressive” and among those the campus community should avoid.

“The word ‘trigger’ has connections to guns for many people,” the center’s website stated. “We can give the same heads-up using language less connected to violence.”

And in 2020, Baylor University put up a trigger warning for a swath of American flags planted in the grass as a Sept. 11 memorial.

You know, they will say that 1984 was about Stalinism.

But if you read it, there are a lot of problems with that theory.

It actually seems to have been a prophecy.

UK: University Gives “Trigger Warning” About Brothers Grimm Fairy Tales https://www.anglinarchive.com/2019/10/26/uk-university-gives-trigger-warning-about-brothers-grimm-fairy-tales/ Sat, 26 Oct 2019 00:00:00 +0000 Pomidor Quixote
Daily Stormer

She did NOT consent to that kiss.

Fairy tales are instruction manuals on how to rape.

Daily Mail:

University students have been given ‘trigger warnings’ about potentially upsetting scenes in classic fairytales.

Lecturers admitted students were cautioned about ‘violent material’ contained in the famous children’s stories by the Brothers Grimm.

Their tales include Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Hansel and Gretel and Little Red Riding Hood.

So-called ‘trigger warnings’ are part of a growing trend which sees undergraduates warned about content they could find disturbing.

Last night Dr Stuart Waiton, a senior sociology lecturer at Abertay University in Dundee, said that ‘the more we make trigger warnings the norm, the more we risk infantilising these adults‘.

What Dr. Stuart Waiton says may sound like a pretty obvious observation, and considering how many people are on board with “trigger warnings,” makes you wonder if making adults more like children isn’t the actual goal behind this stuff.

Glasgow University gave details of a course it runs in modern languages and cultures in response to a freedom of information request.

The lecturer in charge said: ‘When I teach my Grimms’ Fairytales class, I always say some of the material includes child abuse, incest and other violent material.

‘As we do psychological readings of the tales, this can be important to acknowledge.’ Trigger warnings are given verbally or on an internal website named Moodle so that students know about content that could upset them. Complaints have led to warnings being read out.

Classics students at Glasgow, studying Greek and Roman culture, said staff ‘frequently flag if we are dealing with certain types of content, both to alert students to what is coming and to make it clear that we are examining a very different culture from our own – and certainly not endorsing the material covered’.

It’s weird, isn’t it? If their goal is to prevent students from getting upset… where does that end? Why stop at trigger warnings?

What if the student gets upset because of a bad grade or whatever?

They said that this could include ‘sexual assault and rape‘, ‘extreme expressions of misogyny‘, suicide, and racist language and behaviour.

In a theology and religious studies course at Glasgow University, students are told ‘we are going to be talking about torture and brutal violence with sexual elements‘, adding: ‘Otherwise, no trigger warnings.’

We are going to be talking about all of that and more when the Inquisition takes over.

But there’ll be no trigger warnings.

And a history lecturer, teaching courses on sex and religion in the West, and Christianity and the sexual revolution, reads out a trigger warning which states: ‘Some of the references will be to heterosexual and homosexual activities between adults which were illegal in the mid-20th century, and a few are still illegal. But there will be ‘no display of sexually explicit material, merely discussion of it’.

Glasgow University’s veterinary college said that in an animal biology course, ‘humorous’ images are used to ‘highlight and illustrate important discussion points’.

It added: ‘In response to a complaint (before the lecture, not after, and based on the draft slides put on Moodle), a content trigger warning was included on three slides that go up on Moodle.

‘The complaint was about what can be summed up as “sexism”. The wording of my warning in the slides is: “Images used here are light-hearted humour intended to illustrate important points being discussed at this point in the lecture”.

‘This serves to warn students that the images used in the actual lecture are NOT intended to be taken seriously, they serve to engage the students to think about what the real state of the world is, as opposed to what popular imagination holds it to be.

‘The topic being covered at this point in the lecture is the evolution via sexual selection of differences in brain structure and function between males and females of several species, including the idea that this is likely also to be true for humans.’

That’s against Equality. Can’t have that in colleges.

Everyone knows that humans are all the same, no matter the color of their skin, gender, sexual orientation, sexual organs, and physical appearance.

One would think that atheists and the non-religious, of all people, would agree with applying animal biology theories to humans. After all, they don’t think that humans were created by God.

But for some reason, most atheists are likely to adhere to Equality and feminism, and to think that everyone is the same, that racism is bad, that sexism is bad, that women can do everything men can do and so on — which is contrary to what can be observed in the animal kingdom.

It would be funny to ask them about this.

How can humans be that special while at the same not being that special?
