A nine-page Instagram post, shared by the 28-year-old singer this week, expressed staunch opposition to the soirées – where expectant parents announce the gender of their baby through any variety of items being unveiled in pink or blue.

The lengthy post, which was originally shared online by a trans activist, went on to assert that basing a baby’s gender on their genitalia is ‘inconsistent with science’.

The series of text images, entitled ‘Why Gender Reveals Are Transphobic’, began: ‘It’s both insincere and incorrect to pretend that gender reveal parties are not transphobic. You can’t have your proverbial pink-blue binary cake and eat it too.

‘This is not about political correctness, it’s just…correct. We condemn gender reveals not because of our identity, but because of reality.’

‘Transphobia is not just about prejudice against individual trans people, it’s also a way of thinking that understands non-trans people as more natural/organic and erases everyone else,’ the post continued.

‘Gender reveals are based on the illusion that genitals = gender and that there are only two options “boy or girl”,’ the post continued.

A woman who decided at the age of 44 to transition to become a transgender man has revealed how she ‘deeply regrets’ her decision and is now ‘de-transitioning’ to live as a woman again.

Appearing on Newsnight, the UK woman, known as Debbie, discussed with presenter Deborah Cohen how she feels she ‘mutilated’ the body she was born with by surgically transitioning.

Born female, Debbie realised she wanted to be a transgender male after watching an episode of 90s television show Kilroy, in which the host Robert Kilroy-Silk was interviewing female-to-male transgender people.

She told Cohen: ‘I just happened to turn the TV on at the right time. Kilroy was on and he was basically talking to female to male transgender people and it was like a Eureka [moment].

What she said is proof of the effect that the promotion of transgenderism and transsexualism can have on vulnerable people.

That was decades ago. Imagine what the effect of the current trend of glorifying and celebrating “transitioning” is.

We even have TV shows entirely devoted to dick-cutting and fake vaginas now.

Debbie, who says she was sexually abused as a child, set about taking testosterone and photographs of her three years into her transition show her clearly presenting as male.

Now in her early sixties, Debbie says in the footage that she thought she would become a different person if she became male, saying ‘I thought I’d become accepted in the world.’

After undergoing a full female-to-male surgical transition including having a penis made from skin on her forearm, Debbie lived as a man, Lee, for 17 years, continuing to take testosterone and wearing a full beard.

Now she is in the process of detransitioning after saying she deeply regrets what’s happened.

She describes her realisation that she no longer wanted to live as a trans male, saying: ‘I remember breaking down, it was like “‘This was a mistake, it should never have happened”‘.

Debbie adds: ‘But what the hell do you do about it? How do you go through another harrowing transition? I’ve got no hair, I’ve got a beard, I’ve had my body mutilated – what do you do about it? To get back to being the Debbie that I was?’

It’s amazing how hilarious a sad story can be.

I wonder if she’ll go through gender reassignment surgery again to get a fake vagina to replace the real one that she lost.

There is no going back for her now.

Transgender children under the age of 16 should be able to undergo surgery without their parents’ permission, according to Australia’s top psychologists.

The Australian Psychological ­Society, which represents 24,000 professionals, says the disapproval of both parents should not inhibit a child under 16 from consenting to procedures.

Children can consent to have their genitals mutilated by adults, but can’t vote? This isn’t Progressive enough.

We should start putting kids in positions of authority so they can better exercise their ability to consent and make decisions. Give them government jobs, put them in charge of the military, let them handle foreign policy.

According to the peak psychologist body, mandatory pre-surgery counselling is often ‘an unnecessary burden’ on the child.

The APS said the child’s gender identity had likely already experienced ‘considerable medical oversight’.

That’s right. Telling kids about the consequences of what they’re about to “consent” to and telling kids the details of the procedure just burdens them so unnecessarily that it should be considered child abuse.

Doctors should just grab these kids, ask them to lay down and stay still, and cut their genitals off without a warning the moment the kids start acting a little bit like the other gender — to prevent this “burden” and trauma, of course.

Meanwhile, we should be teaching kids about how acting like the other gender is very okay and acceptable — to prevent bullying and trauma, of course.

Parents who disapprove of their children’s medical treatment pose a ‘significant barrier’ for the child, it said.

To overcome this, the body has suggested hospitals should have the right to petition courts as well as ‘advocacy’ to change the minds of parents.

Further, legal advice should be accessible so the young people can authorise their treatment, it said.

Marisa Rivas never felt comfortable living as a woman, but doesn’t identify as a man either.

Last year, Rivas, 30, a college admissions coordinator in Los Angeles, had a mastectomy. This year, Rivas started using gender-neutral “they” and “them” pronouns.

“I still want to be somewhere in the middle,” Rivas said.

Hormone microdosing is of growing interest to some nonbinary people like Rivas who want to masculinize or feminize their bodies in subtle ways. There is little research on the technique’s prevalence, but doctors who treat transgender and nonbinary people say the medical community should consider the needs of those who want to change their bodies without medically transitioning fully to the opposite gender.

“There’s this kind of assumption with transgender individuals that everyone should get surgery and everyone should get hormones to become as ‘male’ or ‘female’ as possible — and that’s simply not true,” said Dr. Tri Do, an internist and assistant professor of medicine at the University of California, San Francisco.

Nonbinary advocates are calling for a broader definition of medical transition as more Americans identify outside the gender binary. Fifty-six percent of “Generation Zers” — those born between the mid-1990s and the early 2000s — report knowing someone who uses gender-neutral pronouns. And more than a third of almost 28,000 adult respondents to the 2015 U.S. Transgender Survey, the largest survey devoted to the experiences of trans people, reported that they were nonbinary or genderqueer.

Do, who has been treating transgender patients since 2001, said he starts all his patients on lower hormone dosages to give them time to adjust and to find a comfortable dose. Low doses have the same effects as higher ones, but it takes longer for those effects — bulky muscles and facial hair in the case of testosterone and increased body fat in the case of estrogen — to develop. The results of a particular dose can vary greatly by person due to genetics, he said, and patients often ask to switch to higher or lower doses as they see changes to their bodies — or, in rare cases, may choose to stop taking hormones entirely.

For Rivas, the appeal is simple: a sense of control.

“The thing about microdosing is that it’s such a little bit at a time that if it’s not something I like doing, I can always stop taking it,” said Rivas, who learned about microdosing through an essay published on Vice in April. “And if it’s something that I feel like at some point I may need more of, then that’s an option.”

Micah Rajunov, 33, editor of the book “Nonbinary: Memoirs of Gender and Identity,” began transitioning in 2010, before ever hearing the word “nonbinary.” Back then, Rajunov, a doctoral student at Boston University, had little understanding of what it meant to be transgender but didn’t see themselves as male or female.

After having a mastectomy in 2011, Rajunov watched a few YouTube videos made by people who were on low-dose testosterone, and decided to give it a try.

Rajunov described the journey to finding the right testosterone dose as “turbulent.” Rajunov’s physician was unsure what dosage to put them on, and prescribed a higher amount than Rajunov expected. Rajunov liked some of the effects — including a deeper voice — but didn’t like the growth of facial hair.

William Crook, 32, who is nonbinary and lives in Phoenix, takes a standard dose of estrogen pills daily but is not taking drugs to block natural testosterone production, which Crook feared would diminish sexual function.

Crook, a bank employee, started estrogen in early March, and began noticing changes within a month. Crook’s skin grew softer and small breasts appeared on Crook’s once-flat torso.

Crook is more confident now and has no desire for surgery.

“I personally much prefer the feel and the experience of this way of doing it,” Crook said, “because it’s just giving my body this chemical that it didn’t produce enough of on its own.”

While the medical community’s understanding of trans and nonbinary people has evolved, most primary care physicians in the United States are still not trained on how to treat them, said Dr. Alex Keuroghlian, director of the National LGBT Health Education Center, which educates health care organizations on how to care for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer people.

This is a particular issue for nonbinary people who may not fit a doctor’s or insurance company’s understanding of gender. A nonbinary person who wants to go on hormones or have surgery may still be denied care because they do not present a desire to be clearly male or female, according to health professionals. The 2015 U.S. Transgender Survey found that 31 percent of nonbinary respondents had experienced an issue with their insurance coverage for hormone therapy in the previous year, compared to 24 percent of the general transgender population.

Mere Abrams, 31, a licensed clinical social worker in Palm Desert, California, who identifies as transgender and nonbinary, underwent a mastectomy in 2015 and has been on low-dose testosterone since 2014. Abrams said their therapist had to write in referral letters to their surgeon that Abrams was masculine-identified, rather than nonbinary, so Abrams wouldn’t be denied treatment.

Abrams, who connects nonbinary people with health care providers through the website onlinegendercare.com, said many doctors don’t know how to work with this population because they are not included in the current international transgender treatment guidelines, known as the World Professional Association for Transgender Health Standards of Care.

A female student who has “transitioned” to identifying as a male has been crowned prom king at a Massachusetts High School in a vote made possible because teachers deemed her eligible.

Nicole “Nicholas” Bulman is a 19-year-old senior at Barnstable High School who began identifying as transgendered starting in eighth grade, the Cape Cod Times reported. She legally changed her name and, after what she calls years of consultation with a primary care doctor, endocrinologists, psychologists, therapists, and a support group, has undergone testosterone treatments and gender-transition surgery.

Her school community has reportedly been so overwhelmingly supportive that Barnstable teachers named him as one of five candidates eligible for this year’s prom king, according to teacher and Class of 2019 adviser Lyn Vazquez. “He’s just an all-around great person,” she said. “Teachers at Barnstable High School felt Nick was a great candidate.”

Bulman ultimately won, the Times reported in a follow-up, attending prom last week in a beard and full tuxedo, alongside friend and prom queen Kalyani Clarke.

“It just feels like a weight’s off my shoulders, like I can be more free and open with all those around me and I’m happy with myself,” Bulman told CBS Boston. Her mother, Jaime Gallagher, said she “love(s) the fact that Barnstable High School validated and acknowledged Nick in that way.”

Bulman, who plans to study psychology at Bridgewater State University, told the Times last week she was “now putting myself on the road toward being comfortable in my own skin.” Other young people to attempt similar transitions have experienced very different outcomes.

She also went through “gender reassignment surgery,” which means that she likely no longer has:

• Breasts
• A uterus
• Ovaries
• Fallopian tubes
• A future

But that’s not all. To complete the “gender reassignment,” she also likely had to have some sort of fake penis installed, which is usually achieved by either grossly enlarging the clitoris or by removing skin and tissue from other parts of the body and combining them with a fake penis prosthesis.

Oh, and the fake testicles. Can’t leave her without those. Her labia majora were likely united to form a fake scrotum to house the fake testicles.

The alleged result of all of this mad scientist stuff is a really manly real man that can really penetrate real women with his really manly penis.

You can clearly see she’s a man because she has a beard.

The problem with that is that the really manly real man can’t ejaculate, which we can presume is the reason why transgenders still want to kill themselves after sex-reassignment surgeries.

One possible solution for that would be to install a water-gun ejaculation device that would be able to shoot shampoo or whatever through her fake penis every time she pushes a button that can be installed somewhere on her body.

I recommend her navel as the ideal place to install the button.

Eventually, the ejaculation device could be filled with real semen from random donors to make for a more realistic experience. Doctors would need to figure out ways for easily accessing the storing compartment for recharging and cleaning, but that’s likely where medicine is going.

Gabrielle Bouchard began her term as president of the Fédération des femmes du Québec with a call for women’s equality, echoing the demands of leaders of the province’s main feminist organization going back to its creation more than 50 years ago.

But a month into the job, Bouchard has faced a backlash over what sets her apart from her predecessors: that she was born male.

As the first transgender woman to head the federation, Bouchard’s ability to speak for women has been challenged by some feminists who portray her gender transition as a lifestyle choice.

“Is a trans woman a real woman?” asked the headline above one Journal de Montréal column. “Being a woman is not a choice or an identity,” the head of a splinter feminist group wrote in another column critical of Bouchard’s election.

Bouchard, 49, said she did not expect her arrival as president to stir such controversy. “I had to realize that it is a big deal, because we are still at a point where we tolerate some identities, or we tolerate some people who are at the margins . . . as long as they stay where we believe they are supposed to be,” she said in an interview.

“If women are going out of the places that we create for them, then we start to see a backlash.”

Disagreement in feminist circles over the place of trans women is not new. In Canada, transgender woman Kimberly Nixon lost a long court battle in 2007 after a Vancouver rape crisis centre refused to let her work as a counselor because she was not born female.

In the United States and the United Kingdom, tensions occasionally flare between trans activists and a fringe of radical feminists who insist on regarding transgender women as men.

Last year, the Nigerian author and feminist Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie stirred controversy in an interview with a British TV network in which she argued that the transgender experience should not be “conflated” with women’s experience.

“We think the experience of a woman who is born a woman is completely different from the experience of a man who decides one day to present himself as a woman,” she said.

“It’s not enough to say, ‘I feel that I am a woman, so I can speak in the name of women.’ For us it’s the same as saying, ‘I feel black, so I can speak in the name of blacks.’ ”
