Officials in the German capital of Berlin have introduced new rules for public swimming pools and bathing facilities, allowing women to use them topless. The measure was introduced after a successful anti-discrimination complaint was hailed as a step towards creating “equal rights” for all of the city’s residents by a local anti-discrimination ombudsperson.

“Berlin bathing establishments will apply their bathing regulations in a gender-neutral manner,” the city’s government said in a statement on Thursday, adding that “topless swimming” should now be possible in the city’s public indoor and outdoor swimming pools for “all females or people with breasts perceived as feminine.”

A spokeswoman for the city’s bathing association confirmed that the policy had been updated by telling RBB radio broadcaster that “topless swimming is equally allowed to everyone.” The new rules do not mean that women in Berlin are obligated to swim topless, however, as they can still cover their breasts if they want to.

The policy change was triggered by a successful anti-discrimination complaint filed by a 33-year-old female pool-goer. The woman was asked by the supervisory staff at one of the Berlin pools to cover her breasts during a visit to the facility back in December 2022. After she refused, the staff made her leave the pool.

France is seeing a dramatic decline in the number of women sunbathing topless over health concerns, fear of sexual harassment, and being photographed, Le Parisien reports citing a new poll.

The survey, conducted by Ifop to mark World Topless Day, revealed that only 19 percent of French women are now willing to ditch their bras while soaking up the rays, down from 34 percent in 2009 and 40 percent in 1984.

It marks a 40-year low in French women’s tendency to bare it all when the sun is out.

Most women who took part of the survey explained their unwillingness to expose their breasts (53 percent) because they want to protect their health, and flagged diseases like skin cancer. But among respondents under 25, most were more concerned about security: 48 percent said they didn’t want to be attacked or harassed by men while sunbathing topless, while 46 percent noted that they were worried about being secretly photographed naked.

Ifop’s 2020 survey among 5,000 Europeans revealed that less than 20 percent of French women under 50 preferred sunbathing topless in comparison to 43 percent back in 1984.

The boomer position is of course that topless sluts are our values and Islam is infringing us.

But you have to wonder how exactly we are supposed to defend our civilization based on the principle that we want to be sexually dominated by women. Like, that’s where we draw the line and define our culture, and we fight against those who don’t think we should be sexually dominated by women – even while being dominated by women means that our countries are flooded with men who think we are weak for allowing our society to be dominated by women, and therefore harass our liberated women on the beaches, thereby infringing their liberation.

It seems to me that we should take a step back from this, maybe give it some time to stew, see if we can’t find a new angle here.

Topless women formed a chain across Waterloo Bridge today with the words ‘climate rape’ and ‘climate murder’ painted on their bodies.

The activists were taking part in a protest for Extinction Rebellion, the environmental group which shut down large areas of central London last year.

At 11am, a group of 31 women stripped from the waist up to symbolise the vulnerability of women around the world in the face of climate change.

Those taking part included teachers, careers advisors, journalists, mothers and grandmothers.

They chose Waterloo Bridge as it is also known as The Ladies’ Bridge, because many of the welders, stonemasons and labourers that built the bridge during World War Two were women.

I’m gonna assume the majority of the workers were actually men, based purely on the fact that the bridge is still standing.

Sarah Mintram, a former teacher who took part in the action in London, said: ‘It’s mainly women in poorer countries in the global south that are experiencing the increase in violence but this will be the reality for all women if the climate and ecological crisis continues to go unaddressed.

‘We are here to raise the alarm about what is happening to our sisters around the world and to tell women in the UK the climate and ecological emergency is your issue – it will affect you as a woman if we do not persuade our government to take urgent action starting now.’

The group cited a January 2020 report by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature which found that climate breakdown and environmental degradation are driving an increase in violence against women.

The report found that deforestation and the degradation of land mean women have to travel further to collect the things they need, like firewood, and are exposed to violence, rape and abduction when they make these journeys.

A spokesperson for the group said: ‘Furthermore, when natural disasters hit, which is happening more and more as a result of climate change, women are exposed to sexual violence in evacuation camps.

‘UN figures indicate that 80% of people displaced by climate change are women. Globally, women are more likely to experience poverty, and to have less socioeconomic power than men. This makes it difficult to recover from disasters which affect infrastructure, jobs and housing. For example, after Hurricane Katrina in 2005, African American women were among the worst affected by flooding in Louisiana.’

Going topless has been effectively legalized in six states after a town decided it was not worth anymore money to fight an appeal.

Fort Collins in Colorado had already spent $300,000 defending the law and trying to stop women from taking their tops off in public.

They had been appealing a decision, which was upheld by the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals in February, that the law amounted to unconstitutional discrimination.

As the Appeals court covers Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma, women in these states can now effectively bare all without breaking the law, reports NBC News.

More than 50 women marched through downtown Vancouver on Sunday, baring their breasts in the name of gender equality.

The march was part of a national campaign organized by GoTopless, a women’s organization fighting for equal topless rights.

Organizers said similar marches were happening in 45 cities around the world.

“Being topless in B.C. is legal. We have the right to be topless and this is wonderful,” GoTopless spokeswoman Denise Belisle said to a photo-snapping crowd that followed the marchers to Vancouver’s Robson Square.

“What we need is respect. We need respect from society, we need respect from all of you.”

About 30 men joined the march on Sunday, wearing bras to show their support.
