Eurosport has confirmed commentator Bob Ballard has been dropped from their Paris Olympics coverage following an “inappropriate” comment made during the games.

Ballard sparked controversy during Eurosport’s coverage of the women’s 4×100 relay on Saturday. The incident took place after the Australian team – consisting of Mollie O’Callaghan, Shayna Jack, Emma McKeon and Meg Harris – clinched gold for their country.

As the female stars exited the Paris Aquatic Centre, seasoned commentator Ballard made a sexist remark.

“Well, the women (are) just finishing up. You know what women are like… hanging around, doing their make-up,” Ballard was heard saying during the coverage of the women’s swimming. The clip quickly spread on social media, leading to Eurosport issuing a statement,.

“During a segment of Eurosport’s coverage last night, commentator Bob Ballard made an inappropriate comment,” it read. “To that end, he has been removed from our commentary roster with immediate effect.”, reports the Mirror.

Ballard had been sharing commentary duties with Lizzie Simmonds. His co-commentator was heard labelling his words as “outrageous”, while some fans on social media had stronger reactions.

“Bob Ballard hang your head in shame and get off the broadcast and back to the 1930s,” one wrote. Another labelled his comments as “shameful,” writing: “When will these people ever learn? Why aren’t they being given some training? “.

“Eurosport please sack Bob Ballard from commentating any more at the Olympics 2024,” was the response from another. “His comments re Aus 4×100 female swim relay team totally disgusting in today’s world. He needs to publicly apologise! ! ! “.

It’s about time someone taught black people to swim. I’ve been saying this for years. The excuse is that they have smaller chest cavities, so they don’t float like white people will naturally float, but does that mean that every single time a black person goes in the water, their only option is to drown?

Surely, there much be some maneuver you can teach them that allows them to keep their head above water long enough for someone to throw them a floatation device or a rope or something. Figure it out.

Valerie Spears hadn’t planned on taking swim lessons when she RSVP’d to her high school reunion in New York City.

But when Spears, a 72-year-old retiree who lives in Akron, Ohio, learned about a free class in Queens, she decided to pack her bathing suit.

“I’m seeing it on TV. A lot of kids are drowning because they don’t know how to swim and when [my daughter told me about the class], I said: ‘Maybe I should go,’” Spears said. “I might drown myself as an older person.”

You’re more likely to get shot or OD on crack.

On 20 June, Spears participated in a lesson organized by Black People Will Swim (BPWS). The gathering was part of a larger effort, coined the World’s Largest Swim Lesson, to promote water safety.

Dozens of first-time swimmers of all ages joined the Jamaica, Queens, event, with lessons rotating based on age group.

At the start of the evening, instructors assessed a group of excited, younger children on their comfort in the water. Later, older adults got into the pool, practicing essential skills like floating as participants cheered each other on. Volunteers handed out free goggles and caps and shared information on future lessons. At the end, everyone received a certificate.

“It’s just really empowering people and letting them know that you do have options [with learning] how to swim,” said Paulana Lamonier, the BPWS founder.

Lamonier, a former competitive swimmer, started BPWS in 2019 as a “side hustle” after posting on social media that she wanted to teach 30 people how to swim. Since then, BPWS has provided free and low-cost swimming lessons to more than 2,500 Black and brown people at Queens’ York College pool. Lamonier said she plans to expand the business.

Like most of their clients, BPWS’s 15 swim instructors are Black. “Seeing someone who looks like me, who is making me feel comfortable, who’s giving me the right affirmations to keep me going, that’s very empowering,” said Jeanette Benons, who takes lessons along with her two sons. “I think that’s a great step and very important for our little kids.”

Drowning is the leading cause of death for US children aged one to four, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Black people under age 30 are 1.5 times more likely to drown than white people, and those disparities are even starker during early adolescence: Black children aged 10 to 14 drown at 7.6 times the rate of white children.

I mean, maybe it’s good. I guess probably the blacks who are going to swimming lessons are the good ones.

But then, like, this is a government program. I think we’ve honestly spent enough on these blacks. I would be okay if the blacks had to pay for the anti-drowning program with some of their food stamps, but if they’re just getting free anti-drowning lessons, I don’t really see an argument as to how this is a good use of taxpayer funds.

Probably a better use of funds would be shooting lessons for the blacks, so when drug dealers shoot at other drug dealers they kill the other drug dealer instead of random children on the sidewalk.

But then I see the photos and I’m like “well, this seems joyful.”

The dream of transgender swimmer Lia Thomas to defeat more biological female competition was dashed after the Court of Arbitration for Sport rejected a challenge from Thomas that would have allowed the athlete to compete in elite competitions for women.

Thomas, a biological man who identifies as female, requested the Switzerland-based court repudiate the current policy that denies Thomas access to competing in “elite” women’s races, including the Olympics, according to a Wednesday report.

An arbitration panel then ruled that Thomas did not meet the standards to appeal the policy, which was established by World Aquatics, because “for the time being,” the policy does not apply to the athlete, the report noted.

Great news! Lia Thomas won’t be able to compete in women’s category at the Olympics or any other elite competition.

An Israeli medallist was booed by the crowd in a sour finish to the Doha World Championships on Sunday, taking the gloss off some stunning achievements in the pool highlighted by Sarah Sjostrom’s third consecutive 50 metres freestyle world title.

Anastasia Gorbenko took silver in the women’s 400m individual medley but her celebrations were spoiled as a chorus of boos rained down from the terraces, drowning out her post-race interview by the floor presenter.

The jeers continued as Gorbenko left the Aspire Dome pool, and she was booed again at the medals ceremony though there was also applause. Briton Freya Constance Colbert won the race.

The presence of Israeli swimmers at the championships has drawn criticism from some Qatari media outlets and pro-Palestine groups amid Israel’s military campaign in Gaza in response to Hamas’s Oct. 7 attack on southern Israel.

Gorbenko said she had been booed multiple times during the week and it had affected her emotionally. But she was defiant that she deserved her moment on the podium.

“I’m here to represent my country… And I’m doing this with the Israeli flag and I’m proud of that. And whoever doesn’t like it, it’s just not my problem,” the 20-year-old told reporters.

Swim England announced an updated transgender and non-binary policy on Monday with a ‘female’ category restricted to athletes with a declared birth sex of female and a new ‘open’ category for everyone else.

The national governing body for swimming in England said the policy, which comes into effect in September, would apply to its swimming, artistic swimming, diving and water polo competitions.

The ‘open’ category will be for those with a birth sex of male, trans or non-binary competitors.

The policy also allows athletes to self-ID in low-level unlicensed, or recreational, events.

Water polo, which stands apart as a contact sport, will allow self-ID up to the age of 16 after which competition will be divided into ‘female’ and ‘open’ categories for safety reasons.

“It is widely recognised that fairness of competition must be protected and Swim England believes the creation of open and female categories is the best way to achieve this,” it said in a statement.

The transgender youth charity Mermaids called on Swim England to reverse its decision.

“Swim England’s trans policy is disappointing. While trans kids can play authentically in non-competitive environments, the policy fundamentally denies trans girls the right to compete as themselves,” it said on Twitter.

World Aquatics voted last year to restrict participation of transgender athletes in elite women’s competitions and create a working group to establish an open category.

A health care worker drowned in a pool during a Facebook livestream last week — to the horror of her family and friends in Kenya.

Hellen Nyabuto, 24, died while swimming in a motel pool in Chatsworth, Ontario Thursday, according to the Toronto Star.

Nyabuto was livestreaming the fatal incident and was seen smiling, swimming and talking to online viewers from the shallow end of the pool, according to the newspaper.

After moving to the deep end, she appeared to be struggling and could be heard calling for help after moving outside of the stream’s frame.

The feed then went quiet for hours until other motel-goers were seen getting into the pool and discovering Nyabuto’s lifeless body, the article said. The livestream had since been removed from Facebook.

Nyabuto moved to Canada in 2018 and was working at a long-term care residence in the northwestern Toronto suburbs, according to the outlet.

“Hellen was the breadwinner back home for her family. She’s been supporting them and it’s left a big gap,” Alfonce Nyamwaya, Nyabuto’s close friend, reportedly said.

“She worked with seniors right until the end,” she added. “She really had a passion for that.”

Nyabuto had not returned to her homeland since moving abroad, and loved ones were trying to raise enough money to bring her body back home while making plans to come to Toronto, Nyamwaya reportedly said.

Finally, sanity prevailed in the world of women’s sports.

Swimming’s world governing body, FINA, announced a ban Sunday on biological men competing in women’s events, unless they had “transitioned” before the age of 12.

Uhh.

That’s sanity?

In other words, transgender athletes who have experienced the enduring competitive advantages of a male puberty flooded with testosterone, such as greater muscle mass, lung capacity and height, will no longer have an unfair advantage in women’s competitions.

The unfairness was clear when University of Pennsylvania transgender swimmer Lia Thomas started blitzing the competition. A mediocre swimmer when she competed against males, she became a superstar in the pool against women after she swapped genders.

Thomas went from 554th ranked male in the 200 freestyle to the fastest woman in the 500 freestyle at the NCAA Championships this year.

Her teammates were so cowed by the oppressive atmosphere policed by gender zealots and their craven university that they were forced into silence or anonymous griping.

But the FINA ban is a promising sign that the pendulum is swinging back to normalcy on the gender madness we have been living through, which has caused irreversible damage to a generation of children.

And it is a slap in the face to the Biden administration’s embrace of gender ideology as some sort of moral crusade.

Joe Biden probably thought his executive order last week, “Advancing Equality for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex Individuals,” was a winner twice over.

It would earn him social cred in Pride Month, and it was one in the eye for that ghastly Trump 2.0, Ron DeSantis, who had signed a law banning Florida schools teaching kindergarteners about sexual orientation and gender identity.

The president’s radical order overrides state laws which protect parents’ rights and girls’ sports and it promotes transgender drugs and surgery for children.

But it will backfire on him spectacularly at the ballot box, as parents wake up to the damage of this near-decade of cruel experimentation on children.

The tide is turning as more “detransitioners,” now young adults, tell their tales of woe.

The Post told some of their stories over the weekend. Chloe decided she was transgender at 12, was placed on puberty blockers and prescribed testosterone at 13 and had a double mastectomy at 15. By 16 she realized it was all a mistake. But testosterone had masculinized her jawline, broadened her shoulders, given her facial hair and may have stolen her fertility.

She wants her troubles to serve as a “cautionary tale” for other girls — and their parents.

None of this is to marginalize those people who suffer genuinely from gender dysphoria — feeling they are trapped in the body of the wrong sex — and who have found peace in surgery and hormones as adults.

But the sharp increase in 13- to 24-year-olds who identify as transgender in the US is alarming — it has nearly doubled since 2017, according to the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention — as is the explosion of gender clinics for children.

Disproportionate numbers of young people who go to gender clinics are reported to be autistic or have poor mental health, which makes the rush to feed them hormones and mutilate their bodies all the more reprehensible.

What we see is that the medical profession is not proceeding with caution, as they once did in the “watchful waiting” era when most kids grew out of any gender confusion, with some just being gay.

An attempt to normalize the idea of very young transgender children appeared, shockingly enough, on Fox News recently, in a story about a trans teen who “came out as a boy” at age five. It was couched in the familiar activist mantra: “It’s better to have a live son than a dead daughter.”

This is obscene emotional blackmail, meant to frighten parents by claiming that, if they don’t go along unquestioningly with their toddler’s gender whims, he or she will end up committing suicide.

In any case, the data suggests that puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones do not prevent suicides, and in fact may increase the risk, according to a report released last week by the Heritage Foundation.

Heritage compared annual youth suicide rates in states that allow children to access cross-sex treatments without parental consent to states that do not and found a gap emerged after 2010 when puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones started to be used.

By 2020, the youth suicide rate in the easy-access states was 14 percent higher than in the states where parental consent was required for treatment.

The conclusion: “Easier access to puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones by minors actually exacerbated suicide rates . . . Science does not demonstrate that puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones are necessary to prevent suicides. In fact, if anything, it demonstrates the opposite.”

This is not a win for sanity, or even a loss for insanity, it is just that this was getting out of control, and they realized how ridiculous it looked.

They are now rolling it back only a little bit – trannies can still compete, they just have to have started taking hormones before 12. If anything, that is going to encourage parents to start giving their boys hormones at a young age. You have this phenomenon of parents wanting their kids to be sports stars – we recently wrote about gymnast parents, who destroy the bodies of their daughters with that training. Tranny children are a perfect place for this type of parent to get into the sports game.

In a world totally dominated by women, trannies have made unlikely heroes.

Supporters of the bills believe that athletes born as men – particularly those who pass through puberty before transitioning, as Thomas has – have an unfair advantage and risk denying female-born prospects the chance to realize their full potential.

Their opponents say that outlawing trans athletes from taking part is discriminatory.

22-year-old Thomas is said to have been the top seed in the 200-yard, 500-yard and 1,650-yard freestyle events.

Yale University’s Iszac Henig, who is competing as a woman while transitioning from female to male, beat his own record to win the 50-yard freestyle on Thursday.

Henig beat Thomas in a race in January, although that heralded accusations that Thomas had not put in maximum effort on her way to an unusually slow sixth-place finish.

Former college swimmer Emily Kreps, of the Pennsylvania Family Institute, said that Thomas had posted the 17th fastest in history for women’s swimming.

Thomas was not made available for media duties afterwards. She is said to have met eligibility rules by receiving hormone therapy for more than two years.

Governing body USA Swimming recently ruled that a three-member panel will now decide whether women who have transitioned possess an unfair advantage during female competition against biologically-born women.

The National Collegiate Athletic Association has also issued a new policy allowing each sport to set its own rules. Leaders remain under pressure to take further measures.

Women will never get collectively mad about this, because to do so would mean they would have to violate the social norms dictated by the media.

Aside from “conservative women,” who follow norms dictated by Donald Trump and Fox News, the overwhelming majority of women follow the mainstream social norms.

Women will not ever break social norms, at least not in any numbers, and even individually, they won’t do it for long (unless they figure out a way to make money and fame doing it).

But the fact that Donald Trump and Fox News are capable of creating an alternative set of social norms means that it is possible.

That’s what we’ve always said about alleged “right wing” “women in the movement.” In order to create such a thing, you have to have a power center that is capable of creating social norms. There is no way for women to help you build that power center, and therefore there is zero reason, at this phase, to have “women in the movement.”

The average adult woman has around the same physical strength as the average 12-year-old boy, there’s no way a guy in his 20s who actually works out can ever lose to one.

A teammate of famed transgender UPenn swimmer Lia Thomas – a man living as a woman – claims that he recently colluded with another transgender swimmer to lose a race for optics.

Earlier this month, after a string of victories put him on a path to winning the championship, Lia Thomas inexplicably lost to Yale transgender swimmer Iszac Henig at UPenn’s tri-meet with the Yale and Dartmouth swim teams. Henig is a biological woman currently transitioning to live as a man, and though she had her breasts removed, she reportedly delayed hormone treatments to compete in women’s swimming before graduation.

“I can’t say for sure, but I wouldn’t be shocked if I found out that was 100% true,” the teammate added.

The teammate recalled saying to a friend during one of the races that Thomas did not appear to be trying.

“I was on deck and said to a friend, ‘She’s literally not trying.’ You could just tell,” the teammate said. “It was blatantly obvious. I was watching the 200 free, and she was literally keeping pace with the other girls.

“You can tell when someone is dying, and they’re swimming slow,” the swimmer added. “You can also tell when someone is not trying, and I could see [in the 200 freestyle] that Lia was not trying.”

The women are in second place after day one of the Zippy Invitational.

Writing for the New York Times last June, Iszac Henig said she delayed hormone treatment so that her “boyhood” would not alter her ability to compete with women.

“As a student-athlete, coming out as a trans guy put me in a weird position. I could start hormones to align more with myself, or wait, transition socially and keep competing on a women’s swim team. I decided on the latter,” Henig wrote.
