An Iraqi man who carried out several Quran burnings in Sweden has died, a judge in Stockholm said Thursday. Swedish media reported that he was killed in a shooting in a nearby city.

Salwan Momika, 38, staged several burnings and desecrations of Islam’s holy book in Sweden in 2023. Videos of the Quran burnings got worldwide publicity and raised anger and criticism in several Muslim nations, leading to riots and unrest in many places.

The Stockholm District Court said a verdict scheduled Thursday in a trial in which Momika was a defendant was postponed because one of the defendants had died. A judge at the court, Göran Lundahl, confirmed that the deceased was Momika. He said he didn’t have any information on when and how Momika died.

Police said they were alerted to a shooting Wednesday night at an apartment building in Sodertalje, near Stockholm, and found a man with gunshot wounds. He later died, and a preliminary murder investigation was opened.

Broadcaster SVT reported, without naming sources, that the victim was Momika. It said Momika came to Sweden from Iraq in 2018 and was granted a three-year residence permit in 2021.

Prosecutors said five people were arrested during the night, Swedish news agency TT reported.

Germany and several other European countries said Monday they are suspending decisions on asylum claims by Syrian nationals because of the unclear situation in their homeland following the fall of Bashar Assad.

Germany’s Federal Office for Migration and Refugees said Monday that more than 47,000 applications are currently pending. It said it would reassess the situation and resume decisions once things in Syria have stabilized.

Interior Minister Nancy Faeser said it’s not yet possible to predict “concrete possibilities to return” and “it would be unserious to speculate about this in such a volatile situation.”

Her ministry said that, as of Oct. 31, there were 974,136 Syrian nationals in the country, the majority of whom had some kind of refugee or other protected status.

In neighboring Austria, Chancellor Karl Nehammer also tasked his interior minister with suspending decisions on current asylum applications by Syrians, the Austria Press Agency reported.

“It is important to first establish facts, to put asylum and family reunion procedures on hold,” Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg said. “We need to wait until the dust settles, so we can see what is happening, what the next points are.”

Sweden’s Migration Agency said it will also pause decisions on Syrian asylum cases, arguing that it isn’t possible at present to assess applicants’ reasons for seeking protection. It didn’t specify how long the pause would last, but said a similar decision was made in connection with the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan in 2021.

In Finland, the director of the Department for International Protection at the Finnish Immigration Service, Antti Lehtinen, told public broadcaster YLE that decisions have been suspended there, and he can’t immediately estimate when they will resume.

In Norway, the Directorate of Immigration announced a similar decision, saying that it has put asylum applications from Syria on hold “until further notice.”

France says it was considering following Germany’s example.

Turkey is resettling their refugees in the north, a part of Syria they have direct control over now.

But there is now major conflict in Syria, and it’s likely to get a lot worse pretty quickly. You have three different groups, plus Israel, that hate each other, and were only unified by the US agenda to overthrow Assad.

Germany is developing an app to help people locate the nearest bunker in the event of attack. Sweden is distributing a 32-page pamphlet titled If Crisis or War Comes. Half a million Finns have already downloaded an emergency preparedness guide.

If the prospect of a broader conflict in Europe seems remote for many, some countries at least are taking it seriously – and, in the term used by Germany’s defence minister, Boris Pistorius, taking steps to get populations kriegstüchtig: war-capable.

Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine has dramatically raised security tensions across the Baltic region, prompting Finland and Sweden to abandon decades of nonalignment and join Nato. Military capability, however, is not all: citizens have to be braced too.

“We live in uncertain times. Armed conflicts are currently being waged in our corner of the world. Terrorism, cyber-attacks, and disinformation campaigns are being used to undermine and influence us,” the Swedish pamphlet’s prologue says.

You see how they always slip in “disinformation” as being the same thing as terrorism and war?

Also available in English, it adds that collective resilience is essential and if Sweden is attacked, “everyone must do their part to defend Sweden’s independence – and our democracy … you are part of Sweden’s overall emergency preparedness”.

Swedes have long been familiar with such public information pamphlets: the first was issued in the second world war. The latest advises on, among other topics, warning systems, air raid shelters, digital security and how to use the toilet if there is no water.

It also recommends keeping a good supply of water at home (and checking annually to see if it is still safe); having plenty of blankets, warm clothes and alternative heating; getting a battery-powered radio; and storing plenty of energy-rich, quick-to-prepare food.

Norway’s directorate for civil protection, DSB, has distributed a similar booklet to the country’s 2.6 million households. “We live in an increasingly turbulent world,” it says, affected by climate change, digital threats and “in the worst case, acts of war”.

The Norwegian pamphlet advises people, for example, to hold at least a week’s worth of non-perishable food including “crispbreads, canned pulses and beans, canned sandwich spreads, energy bars, dried fruit, chocolate, honey, biscuits and nuts”.

Norway also advises residents to stock up on essential medicines – including iodine tablets, in case of a nuclear incident – and, like Sweden, recommends that people have several bank cards and keep a ready supply of cash at home.

Norway advertises its army like it’s all women.

In Finland, an exhaustive online guide called Preparing for incidents and crises offers residents information and advice on anything from water outages to wildfires, the collapse of the internet or “longer-term crises … such as military conflict”.

More practically, on a separate website, 72tuntia.fi, Finland – which shares an 830-mile (1,340km) border with Russia – asks its citizens bluntly: “Would you survive 72 hours?” in a range of crisis situations, inviting them to put both their skills and their supplies through a series of tests.

Germany’s focus, meanwhile, is on ramping up the number of its bunkers and protective shelters after an official estimate that the nation of 84 million has fewer than 600 public shelters, together capable of holding just 480,000 people.

Many cold war shelters have been dismantled owing to the belief they would no longer be needed, but Berlin has now launched a national bunker plan under the Federal Office for Population Protection, including a geolocation phone app.

Here’s my advice: if the Russians invade you, defect to the Russian side immediately. Do not “fight for your country,” because you would not be fighting for “your country,” you would be fighting for immigrants and “gay sex.”

Russia did not start this war, Russia has no desire to invade Scandinavia or Germany, and if Russia does end up invading, it’s not because they are trying to force anything on you, it’s because they don’t have any choice.

Israel is now demanding that the Sweden Democrats (SD) apologise for the party’s ‘historical links to anti-Semitism and Holocaust denial’.

The demand was made by Israel’s ambassador to Sweden, Ziv Nevo Kulman, who believes that such an apology is an important gesture to promote reconciliation and a prerequisite for a more open dialogue between the Sweden Democrats and the Jewish state.

In an interview with Schibsted-owned Aftonbladet’s political editor Anders Lindberg, Israel’s ambassador Kulman clarifies that Tel Aviv’s official stance on the Sweden Democrats remains unchanged: the Israeli government will have no cooperation whatsoever with the anti-immigration Swedish party.

In the interview, the ambassador says that while the Sweden Democrats have repeatedly shown their support for Israel on issues related to the Middle East conflict, concerns remain about the party’s background.

According to Kulman, an official apology from the SD would show “a willingness to acknowledge historical mistakes”.

The Sweden Democrats have long worked to distance themselves from their alleged anti-Semitic history, and the party now has a number of representatives who are very vocal in their support for Israel and the Jewish diaspora at every opportunity.

This was particularly evident in May 2024, when the party’s Alexander Christiansson knelt down in front of a group of Jewish settlers at the annual Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast event.

The Israeli side stresses that its relations with the SD will remain reserved until an apology and concrete measures are taken.

“But (the SD) definitely needs to do a lot of soul-searching about its own past. They need to apologise for everything they did, to the victims of the Holocaust and to the memory of the Holocaust, and they definitely need to think about a future where they do more to fight anti-Semitism. It’s a long process,” says Kulman.

Israel’s demands have provoked reactions in Swedish politics, not least from representatives of the Sweden Democrats themselves. The party’s MP, Josef Fransson, was highly critical in a post on X.

A Swedish court sentenced on Tuesday a far-right politician to four months in jail for two counts of “incitement against an ethnic group” after making hateful comments at political rallies two years ago.

The Danish-Swedish 42-year-old man, who was not named but has been identified by Swedish media as Rasmus Paludan, founder and head of the Danish nationalist anti-immigration party Stram Kurs, had been previously convicted and sentenced by a Danish court on a similar charge, the Malmo District Court said.

In 2022, Paludan made his offensive remarks directed at Muslims, Arabs and Africans during protests that he led in the southern city of Malmo in 2022, the court said. He also burned a copy of the Quran, Islam’s holy book, on at least one occasion. In response, a violent wave of riots swept the country.

Diversity is such a great strength that one dude can start massive riots in a few minutes.

The court in a statement Tuesday said Paludan’s remarks against Muslims “cannot be excused as criticism of Islam or as political campaign work.”

Chief Councilor Nicklas Söderberg, the court’s chairman, said: “It is permitted to publicly make critical statements about, for example, Islam and also Muslims, but the disrespect of a group of people must not clearly cross the line for a factual and valid discussion.”

He added that during the Malmo rallies in April and September 2022 “there was no question of any such discussion,” and that Paludan’s public statements “only amounted to insulting Muslims.”

The court took particular interest in whether the politician knew the protests were filmed and published on Facebook. Paludan had said that he wasn’t aware of it but the district court disagreed and said his “actions at the gatherings would be downright illogical if he didn’t know about the publication on Facebook.”

Personally, I don’t really think this is going to do anything positive. I don’t know what the goal is.

Is this shocking rise in crime a result of violent video games? Is it something in the water?

No one knows. The only thing we know is that it can never be investigated, because that would be racist.

Sweden is witnessing an alarming rise in the use of hand grenades by criminal gangs, with the number of explosions more than doubling in 2024 compared to last year. By mid-October, there had been 22 recorded grenade attacks, up from nine in 2023, according to figures from the Police National Bomb Data Centre.

The Swedish Customs Administration has also reported a spike in the number of hand grenades seized at the border — 30 so far this year, compared to zero last year. Officials say gangs have turned to grenades as an alternative to stolen commercial explosives, which have become harder to obtain.

Interesting. This bomb expert’s views align with my own understanding of grenades: they cause explosions and thus are often used by people seeking to cause explosions.

The reason why Swedes want to cause so many explosions is outside of the purview of an explosives expert, however.

Customs authorities are seeing hand grenades become a significant contraband item, a shift from previous years. “In the past, hand grenades have been a completely non-existent contraband item from our perspective,” said Stefan Granath, deputy head of control at the Swedish Customs Administration.

This uptick in grenade use reflects broader concerns about rising gang violence across Sweden. Violence involving explosives, once rare, has become an increasing threat, with attacks regularly targeting residential areas and public spaces as migrant gangs conduct turf wars in the suburbs of the Scandinavian country’s major cities.

While efforts to crack down on explosive materials like dynamite have been effective, criminals have turned to simpler and more accessible weapons like hand grenades, often smuggled in from the Balkans, where they are more readily available.

Last year, Ardavan Khoshnood, a guest lecturer at Malmö University and senior fellow at Lund University, warned that Sweden had become the bombing capital of Europe and was second only to Mexico as the top country in the world not currently at war to experience the most bombings on its territory.

That was last year. I haven’t seen the numbers, but it’s possible that Sweden could have won this year’s explosion contest.

I just can’t imagine any reason why this would be happening all of the sudden…

According to the latest figures from the Swedish National Board of Education (Skolverket), Sweden has in a relatively short period of time become the most multilingual nation in the Western world, with almost a third of all primary school pupils now speaking a language other than Swedish as their first language. This development reflects the extensive immigration of recent decades, which has led to a dramatic demographic shift.

The latest statistics from the Swedish National Agency for Education for the 2023/24 school year show that 29% of all 7-16 year olds are eligible for mother tongue education – up from 24% in the 2014/15 school year.

This means that almost a third of all Swedish primary school students speak a language other than Swedish at home. The most common languages are Arabic, followed by Somali, Kurdish and South Slavic languages such as Bosnian and Serbian.

This is fine. Everything is fine. Shut up, bigot!

The change in the language profile of the population is mainly a consequence of the extensive immigration that has taken place in recent decades. Today, between 40% and 45% of children and young people have some form of foreign background, either because they themselves or their parents were born abroad.

Compared to other diverse countries such as the United States, Australia and the United Kingdom, where the proportion of children speaking a language other than the majority language is around 20-25%, Sweden is in a category of its own, with almost 30%.

Swedish multilingualism is also unique because the languages spoken here often have no natural connection to the country, unlike languages in other Western countries that have historical or colonial ties to their minority languages.

This rapid change has put Sweden on the map as the most polyglot country in the Western world, which many believe will affect and ultimately have major consequences for Swedish culture and the future of the language.

Sweden is a light unto the world, showing us the path to multicultural paradise.

Good thing they’re sharing their vibrancy

Everyone in the Western, white world, it is being demanded that white people give up their freedoms in order to prevent so-called “vibrant diversity” from committing various crimes.

Moderate MP Fredrik Kärrholm and Christofer Fjellner, the opposition mayor of Stockholm, are calling for more businesses to stop accepting cash.

If shops do not voluntarily comply, “the government must consider legislation to restrict the handling of cash”, they urge.

In an opinion piece in the gossip magazine Aftonbladet, the totalitarian proposal is justified by the need to fight organized crime with “full force”, as well as the fact that the department store NK recently stopped accepting cash after reports that criminal gang members were buying luxury goods there.

What law abiding citizen wants to buy luxury goods with a card? You don’t want that transaction documented.

Why would anyone want to be tracked and traced?

Instead of targeting organized crime and criminals, the Moderates believe it is reasonable to punish and suspect all citizens who prefer to use cash for their purchases.

“The most important driving force for criminals is money. But if money cannot be used, crime becomes meaningless. More retailers must therefore follow the example of the NK department store and stop accepting cash”, it says, adding that shops must accept their “social responsibility” – otherwise mandatory legislation may be the way forward.

The Moderates conclude with another warning to shopkeepers – either they stop accepting cash – or the Moderates will push for legislation to restrict cash handling.

It is worth noting that Sweden is a global outlier when it comes to cashless payments, and has long been predicted to be the first country in the world where it will no longer be possible to make purchases with physical money – something that is already a reality in many shops. Other countries, such as Denmark and Norway, have gone in the opposite direction, passing laws requiring stores to accept cash.

Criminal gangs are a problem in Sweden, beyond any other country in Europe. Sweden really wanted to spice things up good, so they brought in groups of brown people from a lot of different countries. Now these different groups fight each other on the streets of Sweden.

The official position of Sweden remains that this is all white people’s fault, somehow, and white Swedes need to do more for these diverse vibrants in order to stop them from blowing everything up.

How do other countries manage to not have these problems?

This is the effect of women on a country.

You have to ban women, or they will come up with these kinds of schemes and force them on you through psychological warfare that makes you believe you’re evil if you don’t accept the destruction of your own society.

The number of people leaving Sweden is set to exceed the number of arrivals in 2024 — for the first time in more than 50 years — the Swedish government announced on Thursday.

“According to the Swedish Migration Agency’s forecast, Sweden is set to receive the lowest number of asylum-seekers since 1997, and for the first time in over 50 years, Sweden has net emigration,” the Swedish Ministry of Justice posted on X, formerly Twitter.

Migration Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard told reporters that from January to May this year, around 5,700 more people left Sweden than immigrated to the country.

“The number of asylum applications is at a historically low level, asylum-related residence permits continue to decline, and for the first time in 50 years Sweden has net emigration,” Stenergard said.

“This trend towards sustainable immigration is necessary if we are to strengthen integration and reduce social exclusion,” she added.

According to preliminary official figures, immigration fell by 15% year-on-year during the early part of 2024.

Emigration rose by 60% over the same period, from January to May, while asylum applications continued to fall and reached their lowest level since 1997.

In 2023, emigration increased among people born in Iraq, Somalia and Syria. In 2023, net immigration figures for people born in these countries were negative. According to preliminary statistics from Statistics Sweden, Sweden has negative net immigration up to May this year.

Maybe some of those are Swedes moving to Dubai or Thailand or something to escape Vagina Hell World, but probably most of them are immigrants and the children of immigrants returning to their own countries.

Frankly, if all these Third World countries start making deals with the Chinese, they are going to become more advanced materially pretty quickly. Although that would be dependent on the US stopping the wars and sanctions, which they will not ever do as long as they are able.

This is the problem.

A lot of these people that come to our countries are just parasites who want to live on welfare and commit crimes. Some of them are Palestinians or Syrians who are escaping wars caused by the US. Now we have Venezuelans, who are escaping this lunatic sanctions regime.

The United States on Friday imposed sanctions on the neo-Nazi Nordic Resistance Movement and several of its leaders, designating them terrorists as Washington seeks to combat violent white supremacy, the U.S. State Department said.

The action designates Sweden-based NRM and three of its leaders as “specially designated global terrorists,” the State Department said in a statement.

NRM is the largest neo-Nazi group in Sweden and has branches in Norway, Denmark, Iceland and Finland, where it has been banned since 2020, according to the statement.

“The United States remains deeply concerned about the racially or ethnically motivated violent extremist threat worldwide and is committed to countering the transnational components of violent white supremacy,” State Department spokesperson Matthew Miller said in a statement.

“NRM’s violent activity is based on its openly racist, anti-immigrant, antisemitic and anti-LGBTQI+ platform,” he added.

The State Department said members and leaders of the group have carried out violent attacks against political opponents, protesters, journalists and others, and have also taken steps to collect and prepare weapons and explosive materials and organized training in violent tactics, including knife fighting.

Friday’s action freezes any of the group’s U.S. assets and generally bars Americans from dealing with it.

What these sanctions appear to mean is that if you’re on vacation in Sweden and you go to visit these guys, you can be charged with a crime when you return the the United States.
