She’s now focusing her efforts on the one place people are sure to go to even during the lockdown: supermarkets.

Several major chains are now introducing new measures to try and enforce social distancing and protect staff, including a large quantity of hand sanitizer, gloves for workers and protective screens.

Having food exposed to everyone’s breath, coughs, sneezes, and touch is not really a good idea in general, independently of the coronavirus thing.

A virologist has confirmed that ‘every surface is a hazard’ when it comes to COVID-19 and supermarket customers should be particularly mindful of the loose fruit and vegetables in the store.

Associate professor at the University of Sydney, Timothy Newsome, specialises in infection, vaccines and virology, so has been following along closely as the coronavirus restrictions heighten in Australia.

He told FEMAIL that while the virus can live on most surfaces, patrons doing their weekly grocery shop should be particularly wary of the fruit and veg aisle as customers are constantly picking up and placing back down items.

‘We have to remember that every surface is potentially contaminated. And like with any surface there is a risk,’ Mr Newsome explained.

‘We don’t see it as high risk because that comes from sustained contact with other people, but nonetheless it’s important to be mindful.’

While it would be ‘poor practice’ to be testing ‘every avocado for coronavirus’, Mr Newsome did say anything people can touch poses a potential problem.

‘People working in the supermarkets should be picking all of the fruit and veg up and setting it back down with protection,’ he said.

Luckily he noted a large proportion of shelf stackers and general workers wearing gloves and disinfecting their hands at every turn.

The best course of action is to wash your fruit and vegetables with soap as soon as you bring them home, not simply relying on the high heat of cooking them to ‘kill’ the virus.

‘Wash them with warm soapy water, just as you do your hands,’ he said.

I’d rather literally eat coronavirus-coated food than put soap on my food.

Commercial soap is likely to mess with your hormones because it’s full of weird chemicals, and as a general rule of thumb, you want weird chemicals as far away from your body as possible.

 Islamic State leaders are reportedly asking its followers to carry out terror attacks by poisoning food in Western supermarkets.

ISIS fanatics could be targeting British and U.S. shops after the terror group perfected their methods using Iraqi prisoners as ‘human guinea pigs’.

The details of the ‘food poison tests’ were uncovered in Mosul, Iraq, after the city was liberated from ISIS earlier this year.

The prisoners were no more “human” than their captors, but let’s not focus on that right now.

 It is now feared that the ways of contaminating food could be used on a larger scale in attacks on the West, according to the Italian news agency ANSA.

It would not be the first time ISIS followers have sought to spread terror and death by using everyday objects as weapons.

We should probably be grateful that the average Moslem is a subhuman with an IQ barely above that of a baboon, or else a lot of you reading this would be dead, or would know several people who got killed by them.

The latest unsavoury Mohammedan practice to be exposed by the mainstream media is the widespread acceptance of Halal slaughtered meat being sold in supermarkets. The reasoning for this being because it saves the supermarkets money, as ‘the meat can be eaten by Muslims and non-Muslims’.

I have been hearing this all day on the news and not one person has pointed out that no observant Christian would ever want to eat it, as it has been dedicated to a foreign god. It is food that has been set before idols. To say that Halal food can be eaten by anyone shows a total disrespect for practicing Christians and not one talking head has even brought this point up.

The whole debate has been about whether or not Halal slaughter causes the animals distress. Well on top of the animal’s distress what about the Christians distress, when they hear that they have been eating food that has been sacrificed to the desert god of an alien race for the last decade? The idea does not even seem to have crossed the media pundits minds. Perhaps they are hoping that if they don’t mention it Christians wont either.

Supermarkets and restaurant chains face being forced to label food containing halal meat as a row grew over millions of customers being left in the dark about what they are eating.

Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg today demanded better labelling using a designated logo, but insisted he was happy to eat a halal pizza.

MPs could use a debate on new consumer legislation next week to force a change in the law, after it emerged ore than 70 per cent of all New Zealand lamb in supermarkets is from halal abattoirs – a fact not stated on labelling.

Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Morrisons, Waitrose and Marks & Spencer all confirmed they sell the imported meat.

The switch to slaughtering animals in line with Islamic ritual saves money because the end product can be eaten by Muslims and non-Muslims alike.

David Cameron refused to intervene on the issue. His spokesman said: ‘The Prime Minister’s view is that it is an issue of consumer choice and consumer information.

‘So it is a matter for retailers and restaurants to work with customers and consumer groups and representatives of faith organisations.’

But Mr Clegg said: ‘It is a question of labelling. I think there should be more information.’

The Deputy Prime Minister said he has ‘absolutely no problem with eating a pizza with halal meat on it at all.’

And Commons Leader Andrew Lansley told MPs that a debate on the Consumer Rights Bill next week could be used to address public concerns.

He said the legislation was focused ‘giving consumers not only rights but information on which they can base their purchasing decisions.’

It also emerged that all chicken served by Pizza Express is halal – something made clear only on the company’s website.

Chains including Domino’s, GBK, Nando’s, KFC, Ask and Slug & Lettuce use halal meat in some dishes, mainly chicken, and locations.

When contacted by the Mail yesterday, many of the restaurants were reluctant to discuss the issue. Only Subway and KFC overtly label halal meat products on their menus.
