Maybe being a female doctor is something too stressful for women?

The Guardian:

Suicide risk is significantly higher for female doctors compared with the general population, according to an analysis of evidence from 20 countries.

The researchers said that while suicide rates among doctors have declined over time, and risk varied across different countries and regions, the results highlighted a need for continued research and prevention efforts.

Their findings were published in the BMJ journal.

According to previous estimates, one doctor dies by suicide every day in the US, and about one every 10 days in the UK, but evidence on suicide rates for physicians is inconsistent across countries.

To address this, researchers led by the University of Vienna in Austria analysed the results of observational studies published between 1960 and 2024 that compared suicides rates among doctors with the general population.

A total of 39 studies from 20 countries were included. The researchers found no overall increase in suicide risk for male doctors compared with the general population. For female doctors, however, suicide risk was significantly higher (76%) than the general population, the BMJ reported.

While there was no overall increase found among male physicians when compared with the general public, a separate analysis of the data revealed male doctors did have a higher risk of suicide compared with other professional groups with “similar socioeconomic status”.

So which is it? These are not particularly complicated numbers here. A very low portion of people dies by suicide. There shouldn’t even need to be a university study, it’s just a basic statistical analysis that one person could do on a spreadsheet. How can two studies come up with different answers to that question?

I haven’t looked at the numbers myself, but I guess what they’re saying there is that if you control for “socioeconomic status,” doctors do have a higher rate of suicide, but if you include all men (which includes soldiers and former soldiers, who have the highest rate of suicide and a lower socioeconomic status), doctors do not stand out.

One would assume it would be more of an increase for women than men, given that men are more capable of dealing with stress.

But who cares? Men have four times the suicide rate of women overall, so if women doctors are 76% more likely to commit suicide than non-doctors, that still means they’re still more than two times less likely to do it than the average man.

In the experience of literally everyone, women are not great at dealing with stress. Girls should really stick to girly things. Women are probably capable of being physicians in certain fields of medicine, because the job is mostly about memory and multitasking, which are two of the things women are actually good at. But that doesn’t mean they should be doctors. This is basically transsexualism.

Frankly, women should not be involved in public life at all. There is no reason for this and there is no benefit to it. The idea was to increase the workforce, but it turns out that working women don’t have kids, so over time, you actually decrease the workforce.

It was a weird experiment, we tried it, it failed, let’s roll it on back. Roll it back.

The Ukraine Recruiting Staff to Contain Army’s Mental Health Crisis https://www.anglinarchive.com/2023/12/22/the-ukraine-recruiting-staff-to-contain-armys-mental-health-crisis/ Fri, 22 Dec 2023 00:00:00 +0000

Soldiers during a “stress control” session.

It’s better to just not do this at all, and tell soldiers to “man up.”

There’s a whole history showing that doing psychological work on your soldiers have a very negative affect on morale and fighting ability generally.

This is just stupid, self-injuring poison, which is the defining variable of Ukrainian thought.

Reuters:

Psychotherapist Oleh Hukovskyi stands beside a white board in a makeshift classroom in eastern Ukraine and addresses a group of soldiers attending a session on how to cope with the stress of war.

The former psychiatrist joined the armed forces about six months after Russia launched a full-scale invasion in February 2022, and now runs a psychological support group attached to the 67th Separate Mechanised Brigade in the direction of the ruined town of Lyman.

The classes cover basic psychological theory and coping techniques including breathing exercises. While the dozen soldiers attending are responsive to questions and suggestions, Hukovskyi is aware he can only do so much in the time provided.

Oleh Hukovskyi addressing a group of soldiers.

“They have obligations and have to return to the frontline,” he said of the troops, some of whom are being treated for light wounds and battle stress at a medical aid centre whose location the Ukrainian military requested not be disclosed.

“Any intervention we are making is to stabilize them to some degree and that’s all,” the 41-year-old told Reuters. “So it’s not for full recovery from any kind of symptoms. It’s not possible in the conditions we work under.”

While many soldiers who seek psychological support return to battle after short breaks, some more serious cases are sent for further treatment at rehabilitation points away from the front.

Hukovskyi is one of hundreds of professionals and volunteers across Ukraine treating soldiers for mental health problems, a growing challenge for an army experiencing exhaustion as it seeks to hold a much larger enemy at bay.

Many of those fighting joined as volunteers, meaning they had little, if any, preparation for sometimes fierce combat under artillery, mortar and drone fire.

“Ukraine has an army of mobilised citizens who just yesterday were teachers, artists, poets, IT specialists, or workers,” said Dana Vynohradova, deputy brigade commander for moral and psychological support.

“We don’t have the capacity to conduct comprehensive psychological training for military specialists.”

Dana Vynohradova, left.

The Ukrainian military has tried to recruit more people for the “first line” of response – psychological support.

Ukraine’s armed forces declined to answer questions on the scale of the recruitment drive and how many soldiers had been treated for psychological conditions since the start of the invasion. Such details are often treated as military secrets.

The Ukrainian state is on the verge of collapse.

Titanic deckchairs and so on.

Destroy the Titanic by bashing it with deckchairs, or whatever.

They’re doing art sessions to combat stress.

8 Out of 10 Americans Say Politics is the Most Stressful Thing in Their Lives https://www.anglinarchive.com/2019/12/12/8-out-of-10-americans-say-politics-is-the-most-stressful-thing-in-their-lives/ Thu, 12 Dec 2019 00:00:00 +0000 Andrew Anglin

Politics are stressful for people because they are forced down their throats everywhere they look, against their will.

The most extreme example of this: I haven’t found a single person who is closely following the impeachment scandal, and yet it is the only thing on the media. This is an abuse of the population. No one cares, but they can’t escape it.

What this study means is that 8 of 10 people say “Jews” are the biggest source of stress in their lives. It is the Jews in the government creating the political disasters and it is the Jews in the media abusing the people with these disasters.

Study Finds:

U.S. politics have never felt quite as contemptuous, and unavoidable, as they do today. We’re a nation of people who are constantly plugged in, whether that be via smartphone, desktop, or regular old cable news. As such, it’s hard for the average adult to go so much as an hour without at least casually glancing at a sensationalized headline, nasty social media comment fueled by political disdain, or television screen featuring a bias news pundit. Now, a new survey of 2,000 Americans finds that all of this vitriol filled political discourse is taking a serious mental toll. An astounding 78% of respondents say politics are the number one source of anxiety and stress in their life.

The survey, commissioned by LIFEAID Beverage Co., also identified on-the-job worries (51%), and financial matters (51%) as other common factors stressing Americans out. Another major stressor for many is health and medical issues (37%), and 25% say their commute to work each day is a stressful nightmare. Surprisingly, 37% of respondents listed their own partner as a big source of personal anxiety and stress. Other frequently cited stressors included social media (29%) and climate change (32%).

All of that stress is complicating other aspects of life, as well, with two-thirds (67%) of respondents admitting their constant anxiety is causing them to be less productive at work.

People shouldn’t follow politics.

Nothing is going to happen.

That is where the stress comes from: this powerlessness that goes along with the hysterical and outrageous nature of the presentation. They are telling you this is all life and death, pushing every single possible emotional trigger 24 hours a day, then making it clear that whichever side you’re on, you’re pretty much doomed.

This isn’t healthy.

People should stop following politics too closely. I have myself stopped following politics closely. I’m interested in the metapolitical narrative, but the ins and outs no longer really matter to me.

Men Are Less Likely Than Women to Suffer Depression When Working Long Hours https://www.anglinarchive.com/2019/02/27/men-are-less-likely-than-women-to-suffer-depression-when-working-long-hours/ Wed, 27 Feb 2019 00:00:00 +0000 Pomidor Quixote

Facebook, Excel and PowerPoint are so stressful.

Just last month we learned that stressful jobs turn women into pigs but not men, and now researchers are telling us that there’s yet another form of male privilege.

Daily Mail:

Women who put in long hours at work are prone to depression – but the same is not true of men, researchers have found.

A study found women who worked more than 55 hours per week were more likely to suffer depression than women working a standard 35- to 40-hour week.

Men were no more likely to suffer depression if they worked long hours overall – but were still susceptible to problems if they worked weekends.

The researchers suspect the gender difference is down to the fact that even when women have left work, they are left with the burden of chores around the home.

Lead author Gill Weston, of University College London, said the findings called for greater support for women working long hours in the workplace.

Gill Weston, PhD, UCL Institute of Epidemiology and Health Care

‘Although we cannot establish the exact causes, we do know many women face the additional burden of doing a larger share of domestic labour than men, leading to extensive total work hours, added time pressures and overwhelming responsibilities,’ she said.

Do they really think that men who work long hours are all married and pushing their domestic chores to their wives? Because that seems to be what they’re saying here.

They’re saying that men working long hours don’t get depressed because they may not be doing any work at home, which is an absurd assumption that ignores the fact that men that live alone have jobs too.

Women are just less resistant to the kind of stress men are more prepared to resist. But saying that goes against equality, which means it’s misogynistic. Anything that may even imply that women are somehow different than men in some non-superfluous aspect is misogynistic.

The researchers also found that married women with children at home tended to be less likely to work long hours than single women – but married fathers were more likely to put in overtime at the office than men with no family.

But they just said that women working longer hours were more likely to be depressed presumably because of the larger share of domestic labor they do. If most of those women working longer hours are single… then why are they blaming men for not “doing their fair share of domestic labor” or whatever?

What is even the point of mentioning a domestic chores gap between men and women who work longer hours in the first place if women working longer hours are likely to be single?

Are they saying that single men are less likely to work longer hours and thus have a wife or girlfriend living with them at home and taking care of the so-called domestic labor?

That may not be far-fetched considering how insufferable most wives are nowadays.

Maybe married men really look forward to working longer hours to avoid being around their wives as much as possible.

The researchers wrote: ‘Our findings of more depressive symptoms among women working extra long hours might also be explained by the potential double burden experienced by women when their long hours in paid work are added on their time in domestic labour.

‘Previous studies have found that once unpaid housework and caring is accounted for, women work longer than men, on average, and that this has been linked to poorer physical health.

They keep going on about housework, caring, domestic labor and so on – but this isn’t the 1800s anymore. Women have machines to wash dishes and clothes, machines to clean the house, and even machines to cook. They have all of these technological marvels, yet women’s houses are often full of filth and disgusting.

Maybe some things are not men’s fault, you know?

Stressful Jobs Cause Women to Eat Like Pigs and Gain Weight But Not Men, Study Finds https://www.anglinarchive.com/2019/01/29/stressful-jobs-cause-women-to-eat-like-pigs-and-gain-weight-but-not-men-study-finds/ Tue, 29 Jan 2019 00:00:00 +0000 Pomidor Quixote

Stock photo of the patriarchy making an innocent woman get fat.

It’s always about filling holes with women. Their entire existence is based on getting their holes filled. First with penises in their vaginas, then with babies in their uterus. When they’re stressed out, their immediate response is to fill some of their holes hoping to find relief, and fattening addictive edibles happen to be conveniently available everywhere.

Daily Mail:

Stressful jobs cause women to pile on the pounds later down the road – but not men, research suggests.

A study of more than 3,800 people found women who struggle to cope with their workloads or feel they have little control over their careers are more likely to gain weight over the next ten-to-20 years.

The obsession women have with filling their holes stems from their obvious life purpose. The reason they’re women and not men is to get filled with the seed of a man and grow his babies. That is the reason why they’re here the way they are.

They come equipped with vaginas, uterus, and breasts that are specifically intended for producing babies. The presence of those features evidences their duty to use them.

We have hands to use them. We have legs to use them. We have stomachs to use them. Everything in us is meant for us to use, but for some hand-rubbing reason women think they’re somehow free to choose their own adventure or whatever. Just like children who don’t know any better and eat all the candies ending up with a stomach ache, women choose the hedonist experience offered to them by our uninvited guests through the media and other mediums of social engineering, and then they fall to Despair.

Feeling overwhelmed at work may demotivate women, making them more likely to be lazy or overindulge in fattening foods, the researchers claim.

Stress also triggers the release of the hormone cortisol, which helps ‘lay down’ fat around the midriff, leading to ‘muffin tops’, they add.

This thing where women are told they should do everything men do stresses them so much their body gets deformed.

That is not how women look. That is not a woman.

This is a woman.

But hey, gotta double the workforce to cut salaries in half and make married couples both have to work to get the same income the man earned before because fuck the nuclear family and fuck children that need their mothers amirite?

Women may be more affected than men as they often juggle ‘job demands and the greater responsibility for the home’.

This “women take care of the home” thing just won’t die, for some reason. When people say that, do they mean there are no single men living alone?

Do they mean every man and every woman are married and living under the same roof? Because for this to matter, that would need to be the case. They’re obviously not talking about single women living alone.

So what do they really mean? That we’re still living in the nuclear family era?

Because we’re not.

And in an era of single, isolated individuals, a man has to do as much “taking care of the home” as a woman. And if you live alone, this amounts to basically putting dishes in a dish washer and putting clothes in a washing machine. Everyone once in a while you have to change the sheets.

The research was carried out by the University of Gothenburg and led by Sofia Klingberg, a researcher in community medicine and public health.

‘When it came to the level of demands at work, only the women were affected,’ Ms Klingberg said.

Men have been doing all kinds of highly stressful activities all throughout history. From protecting the tribe, fighting invaders, and hunting, to construction, politics, and gaining knowledge. We’re just better at it. There’s no way women will ever catch up.

It’s to be expected that we’re better at doing all of what we’ve been doing, and we’re also better at handling the stress that comes with all of it.

‘We haven’t investigated the underlying causes, but it may conceivably be about a combination of job demands and the greater responsibility for the home that women often assume.

‘This may make it difficult to find time to exercise and live a healthy life.’

Oh yeah you bet. Keeping the house in pristine condition is harder than real jobs, you know? Just as taking a shower and keeping yourself clean is harder than working. No wonder they’re stressed out, with all that cleaning they have to do.

(lol “women assuming responsibilities.”)

Results – published in the journal International Archives of Occupational and Environmental Health – suggest only women pile on the pounds if they have demanding workloads.

The female participants who struggled to cope at work gained around 20 per cent more than those with easy-going careers.

This remained true even after diet and physical activity levels were taken into account.

What this tells us, really, is that obese women are actually just hard-working women.

Take a good look at these hard-working women. Just look at them.

They’re very hard-working, which means they don’t have time to not chew food, because when you don’t have time to do stuff because you’re taking care of the home or whatever you immediately pause what you’re doing to go grab something to eat and start chewing. If you think that doesn’t make sense then you’re not a woman therefore you’re the patriarchy so watch out for those thought-crimes. Okay?

You have white male privilege.

Don’t believe me? Check out Mr. Anglin.

He has been working non-stop for years without a day off and he actually has stuff to be stressed about, but his white-male privilege prevents him from getting fat and even gives him muscles.

But you know the worst of it? Everything he eats that doesn’t cause him to gain fat is directly causing a random hard-working stressed-out woman to gain that fat!

All thanks to his white privilege magic.

So what is your excuse, huh?
