The rainbow armbands are being worn as Premier League clubs show support for LGBTQ+ inclusion in sport by taking part in charity Stonewall’s Rainbow Laces campaign.

The Football Association told Guehi and his club that religious messaging on kit is banned after the 24-year-old’s rainbow armband in Palace’s draw against Newcastle United on Saturday had the message ‘I love Jesus’ written on it.

Ipswich Town captain Sam Morsy did not wear a rainbow armband again on Tuesday, after his club said he elected not to do so at the weekend because of his “religious beliefs”.

Children who have gender dysphoria will no longer be given puberty blockers, NHS England has said, ahead of a radical change in how it cares for them.

There is not enough evidence about either how safe they are to take or whether they are clinically effective to justify prescribing them to children and young people who are transitioning, it added.

The government welcomed NHS England’s “landmark decision”, which it said was “in the best interests of children”.

NHS England made the announcement in response to the results of a public consultation on the ban, which it first proposed last June, and a review of available evidence by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (Nice).

A spokesperson said: “NHS England has carefully considered the evidence review conducted by NICE and further published evidence available to date.

“We have concluded that there is not enough evidence to support the safety or clinical effectiveness of puberty suppressing hormones to make the treatment routinely available at this time.”

Puberty blockers arrest the physical changes in a child’s body that puberty brings, such as the development of breasts or facial hair. The NHS’s decision means that the new regional services caring for under-18s with gender dysphoria, which open next month, will not use them as part of the treatment.

From now on, children and young people will only be able to get them if they are taking part in a clinical trial. At least one such trial is due to start later this year, but no details, such as who will be eligible to join it, have been published.

The NHS’s decision reaffirms the position it adopted last year on puberty blockers after Dr Hilary Cass, who is leading an independent review into gender identity services for under-18s, issued interim advice warning against routine prescription of the drugs.

In late 2020 NHS England asked Cass, an ex-president of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, to look into gender identity services. At the time they were provided for the whole of England solely by the NHS’s Tavistock and Portman mental health trust in London. Its treatment of under-18s with gender dysphoria, including its use of puberty blockers, had attracted criticism.

Stonewall voiced its concern about the new policy. “All trans young people deserve access to high quality, timely healthcare”, a spokesperson for the LGBTQ+ rights charity said.

“For some, an important part of this care comes in the form of puberty blockers, a reversible treatment that delays the onset of puberty, prescribed by expert endocrinologists, giving the young person extra time to evaluate their next steps. We are concerned that NHS England will be putting new prescriptions on hold until a research protocol is up and running at the end of 2024.”

Teachers should consider if students wanting to socially transition to another gender were “influenced by social media or peers”, under new government guidelines for how schools and colleges in England deal with transgender children and young people.

The draft guidance issued by the education secretary, Gillian Keegan, and the equalities minister, Kemi Badenoch, advises there is “no general duty” for schools and colleges to let students change their preferred names, pronouns or uniforms – known as social transitioning – and stresses that parents should be involved in any decisions except where it would endanger the child.

Who decides this?

How do they decide it?

When you do not have a religion, or some state ideology that place-holds for a religion (communism), then how does anyone decide anything?

With some kind of guiding thought, everything is in a vacuum.

The guidance requires schools to maintain separate toilets and changing facilities for each sex after age eight, allows staff and students to ignore pronouns preferred by socially transitioning children, and for sport and PE activities to be segregated by sex if there are safety concerns.

“Schools and colleges should seek to understand societal or other factors that may have influenced the child, for example: has the child been influenced by peers or social media? Does the child feel pressured to identify differently because they simply do not align with stereotypes associated with their sex?” the guidance states.

The guidance is the first of its type to be issued to schools in England, and has been the subject of much controversy among ministers and MPs since it was proposed by Rishi Sunak earlier this year.

The prime minister’s official spokesperson said schools “will be held to account” under the new guidance.

“This is what [teachers] have been asking for, and what we have provided is clarity on how to approach a very sensitive and complex area. Crucially, it’s clear that parents must always be involved in the decisions that affect their children’s lives. And it gives clarity and protection to teachers so they have confidence.”

The heads of three major children’s charities – Barnardo’s, NSPCC and Children’s Society – said the welfare of individual children should be the guidance’s primary consideration.

“We understand there has been no engagement with children and young people themselves in the development of this guidance so far. It is vital their voices are heard during the consultation period,” the joint statement said.

“We will be engaging with government to urge them to make sure children’s best interests and, in particular, those of individual children questioning their gender identity, are protected under the final version of this guidance.”

Groups supporting the right of children to transition in education criticised the draft guidance as dangerous and unworkable.

Stonewall, the LBGT+ charity, compared the guidance to the “chilling effect” caused by the 1988 section 28 regulation that banned schools discussing homosexuality.

“Not only is it legally unworkable and contrary to existing equality law and the government’s own guidance on safeguarding, it is actively dangerous. If implemented it would inevitably lead to real harm being caused to trans children and young people across England,” a spokesperson for Stonewall said.

But Maya Forstater, the executive director of the campaigning group Sex Matters, said: “The most important takeaway is that the normalisation of so-called social transition – lying about children’s sex – is indefensible within a school environment.

“We are grateful that the government has listened to experts and prioritised the wellbeing and safeguarding of children in this guidance, rather than pandering to ideological, anti-scientific dogma.”

The draft publication also divided its supporters. Some, including the former prime minister Liz Truss, said new legislation would be required.

“I fear that activists and others will be able to exploit loopholes in the guidance and the existing legal framework to pursue their agenda,” she said.

The former home secretary Suella Braverman said it was a “serious weakness” that the guidance still allowed social transitioning in schools.

“Too much discretion is left to individual schools and teachers … Ultimately if the law needs to be changed, then ministers must be prepared to act,” she said.

A high street bank has stopped a group of gender-critical parents from opening an account because of their views.

Metro Bank reportedly denied a request to create a business account for Our Duty, a 2,000-strong group of parents who think it is harmful for transgender kids to transition medically.

Our Duty founder Keith Jordan claimed a bank manager told them they were blocked because ‘the content of your website conflicts with the culture and ideas we are pushing’.

Just last month it joined controversial charity Stonewall’s Diversity Champion scheme.

It came as MailOnline revealed how one of Britain’s equalities leaders, a father’s rights charity and a former UKIP councillor have all had their accounts shut.

Former teacher and businessman Mr Jordan told The Telegraph the Metro bank manager said: ‘The bank has staff networks for diversity and inclusion including for LGBTQ staff’.

The same manager also said an existing community account violated guidelines that stopped groups being linked to or influencing ‘political policies or legislations’ as it did not allow donation from groups that were not registered charities.

The bank told him via email that his application was stopped after an ‘in-depth review’.

Yesterday, Nigel Farage lashed out at Coutts for closing his accounts as he branded the private bank ‘very, very dishonest’.

The ex-Brexit Party leader bristled at claims he is not wealthy enough for an account at the 327-year-old institution, whose clients include the Royal Family.

He also revealed he has now been blocked from holding an account with nine other banks after being classed as a ‘politically exposed person (PEP)’.

Mr Farage is currently waging a furious fightback against what he claims is ‘serious political persecution’ by British banks who are ‘trying to force me out of the UK’.

The 59-year-old, previously the leader of UKIP, has suggested the action is due to his involvement in the Brexit referendum and a ‘prejudice’ held against him.

He has claimed life in Britain could become ‘unlivable’ for him and he might be forced to relocate abroad.

The row has seen Tory MPs express concerns about a ‘chilling effect’ on free speech.

The House of Commons has also heard how many others have had their ‘lives wrecked’ by the impact of banking rules relating to PEPs.

An Army commanding officer with 14 years of distinguished service says he has been forced to leave the service for saying that men cannot be women.

The colonel came under fire when a complaint of transphobia was made against him. Dr Kelvin Wright, 54, had been a military Reservist officer with a record that included two tours in Afghanistan. However, he said he felt his “honour” had come under attack during a “hellish” investigation.

It started last month, when he shared a post on his private Facebook account from a campaign group that works with organisations which aim to keep women’s sport for those born female. The group, Fair Play for Women, contained a quote from Helen Joyce, a feminist campaigner backed by the author JK Rowling, who herself has been targeted for much abuse online over the issue.

The Telegraph reported that the quote Dr Wright shared without making any additional comment, stated: “If women cannot stand in a public place and say ‘men cannot be women’, then we do not have women’s rights at all.”

The post prompted a junior officer to warn him that this “gender-critical view” may conflict with Ministry of Defence transgender policies. What ensued, according to Dr Wright, was an investigation, including the compiling of a seven-page dossier he was barred from accessing, about his “substandard behaviour”. He claimed the dossier had been drawn up by Army “LGBT champions”.

The newspaper said that a formal Army investigation was opened in May that could have led to him being formally dismissed or censured under the Major Administrative Action process, through which he had been asked to make a statement.

But Dr Wright, who led a team of 60 troops in 306 Hospital Support Regiment as well as working as an NHS intensive care consultant, said he felt compelled to step down from the Army six years earlier than he had planned, a move that will adversely affect his Army pension.

Now the Free Speech Union has stepped in to support him, and has appointed an employment barrister to represent him during the ongoing investigation. Dr Wright told the Telegraph: “This attack on my honour made my position completely untenable. I could no longer remain in an Army which treated its officers with such disrespect.

“What message does it send to women in the Army, that merely for noting the existence of women and women’s rights even a colonel can be placed under investigation? I therefore feel there is no other choice but to make this matter public. It makes you wonder who is running the Army: the Chief of the Defence Staff or Stonewall?”

He claimed many Armed Forces personnel seemed to “love the idea of getting on to Stonewall’s list of top employers” and accused the force’s “LGBT champions” of being unable to “see two sides to an argument”.

He told the paper: “I want my name cleared, my honour cleared. This is about freedom of speech and protection of women – there is nothing that ever says I have been anti-trans or anti-LGBT at all… I have never let any of my beliefs interfere with my command.

“As a commanding officer, I annually teach my soldiers about moral courage, doing the right thing and treating others with respect. Someone with a bit of moral courage could have said this is absolutely trivial, this should be dismissed early on and we should get on with the business of war-fighting, should it ever happen.”

The census may have overestimated how many transgender people there are in England and Wales because the question wording was “confusing”.

Academics have queried findings by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) that 262,000 people identify as transgender in England and Wales.

As a result, the statistics regulator is now examining the concerns that the data behind the landmark census figures on the transgender population may be inaccurate.

The academics claim that the “confusing” and “misleading” wording of the census question, “is the gender you identify with the same as your sex registered at birth?” may have skewed the answers for respondents whose first language is not English, as well as those who are not familiar with the language of gender identity. Instead, they claim that the ONS should have asked people: “Are you transgender?”

Michael Biggs, a professor of sociology at the University of Oxford, claimed it may be why the London boroughs of Newham and Brent, which have a significant percentage of residents who speak English as a second language, recorded the highest proportion of transgender people in the UK. Overall, those who speak English poorly were found to be five times more likely to be transgender, prompting concerns about the data.

The ONS confirmed that it was working with the Office for Statistics Regulation on the issue and conceded it was “possible” that respondents had misinterpreted the question. Prof Biggs said that the question was changed following consultation with LGBTQ lobby groups, such as Stonewall.

“The ONS were so focussed on how trans people would respond to that question and if it would hurt people’s feelings and I think, as a result, they didn’t think about the vast majority of people and those who don’t share the same language. Professional, managerial-class people have had the training on gender language and gender identity.

“But a lot of people working on building sites or cleaning hospitals, for example, those are the people that I think are confused and if ONS had asked: ‘Are you trans?’ It would have been simpler, but the way they have formed the question, you are directed to the wrong answer or at least it’s generated confusion.

“The question they used is Stonewall’s definition of cisgender and it shows just how influential Stonewall is,” Prof Biggs added.

In January, the ONS released figures from the latest census in 2021, which explored gender identity for the first time. Researchers found that there were 262,000 people — or 0.5 per cent of the population aged 16 and over — who described themselves transgender.

Of them, 118,000 chose not to provide further details about their gender identity. Around 48,000, identified as a trans man, and 48,000 identified as a trans woman. Separately, 30,000 people identified as non-binary, while a further 18,000 wrote down a different gender identity.

However, separate ONS data published last week showed that those who speak English “not well” or “not well at all” were most likely to be counted as transgender, at 2.2 per cent. This compared with 0.4 per cent of those whose main language is English or Welsh. As a result, those who speak English poorly are five times more likely to be transgender.

Furthermore, adults whose main language is not English made up 10 per cent of the overall population but, according to the census, they contributed 29 per cent of the transgender numbers. The figures also show that one in 67 Muslims is transgender, a figure which Professor Biggs claims is “not plausible”.

Prof Alice Sullivan, professor of sociology at University College London, added: “It’s extraordinary that the ONS have made this basic error really because this is so basic as far as question design goes.

“Census questions have to be clear and comprehensive to the entire population and that, of course, includes people who do not have English as a first language and anyone who is not familiar with gender theory.

“A simple question like, ‘are you trans?’ probably would not have confused people in the same way. If you ask a question that only makes sense to trans people and not the wider population, the danger of false positives corrupting your data is very high.”

She added: “This really shows what happens when you have policy capture, where lobby groups have a disproportionate level of influence. It’s fine for the ONS to talk to lobby groups but ultimately it should be following scientific processes and protocols, not just doing what a lobby group tells them to.”

The ONS figures also showed that 0.4 per cent of Christians identified as a gender other than the one they were assigned at birth, compared to 1.5 per cent of Muslims and 1 per cent of Sikhs, meaning Muslims are almost four times more likely to identify as trans or non-binary.

Someone working in an elementary job was three times more likely to be transgender than someone in a managerial or professional job. A factory worker was twice as likely to do so than someone more senior.

Basically, everyone is a tranny.

A man in Essex county, England is causing concern amongst locals, especially parents, after being spotted loitering near children’s schools while wearing a schoolgirl uniform. In response to complaints, Essex Police is insisting the man “does not pose a risk,” and has warned the public against sharing photos of him on social media.

Throughout the week, the unnamed man has been wearing the uniform of a young schoolgirl while wandering in proximity of two schools, one primary and one secondary. In the United Kingdom, primary school ages range from 5 to 11, while secondary school aged youth can be as young as 11.

It has been noted that the uniforms of the man reflect that of Belfairs Academy, which is in the vicinity of the Highlands Boulevard School and Milton Hall Primary School in Southend-on-Sea. He has been seen near both of the schools this past week, as well as on the public bus when children would be taking it home after classes.

On January 19, official school uniform supplier Paul’s School and Workwear addressed the fiasco in a Facebook post, revealing that the man had been purchasing some uniform items from their shop.

The post explained to the public that “the full Belfairs uniform did not come from us,” but went on to confirm that the man had been in the store this week purchasing “a Grey box pleat skirt that he said was for his granddaughter.” The supplier announced they had banned the man from their store, and encouraged members of the public to call police if they see him.

“This is to be taken seriously as he needs help and no-one would know his mind set. Reports say he dresses in Belfairs & Milton Hall uniform. If you see him – STAY AWAY and call 101 to report where he is.”

Some in the community were appreciative of the uniform supplier’s firm stance on the matter, while others insisted that the man is free to dress as he pleases. One woman responded to the supplier’s post on Facebook, thanking the store for warning members of the public.

“Thank you Paul’s School and Work Wear for taking this seriously. A grown man hanging around multiple schools and staring at young women and girls on a bus used by school children is premeditated for sexual gratification – no matter what the mental health diagnosis is. I agree this man needs help…”

The commenter continued by invoking the memory of Sarah Everard, a 33-year-old woman who was kidnapped, raped, and murdered by a serving London Metropolitan police officer who used his status to handcuff and kidnap her.

The police say no crime is committed which is true technically – but by saying no risk – this tells people that police think its okay to alarm and distress young girls in this manner. Paul’s School and Workwear even addressed those who were defending the man’s behavior and added a comment to their own post.

As reported by Echo, the Essex police have identified “the person dressed in an inappropriate outfit in the vicinity of a school in Leigh,” and “have discussed the incident with the person,” saying they understand the community’s concerns but reiterating “this individual does not pose a risk.”

This was paired with Essex police’s urgent request to stop sharing photos of the man on social media citing that they “could have a detrimental personal impact on those concerned.”

Essex Police did not refer to the man with any gendered language like “man” or “he,” but worded their statement in carefully-chosen neutral terms.

As photos of the individual began to circulate on social media, many began to express disappointment with Essex Police’s seemingly relaxed attitude on the matter, with many taking it as a failure to protect young children and, in particular, young girls.

One mother posting under an alias on motherhood forum Mumsnet said, “He’s been seen around schools – both primary and secondary – dressed as a schoolgirl (in their uniform). I am fucking outraged that the police don’t seem to think that’s an issue. God forbid we offend men or shame their fetishes.”

Popular UK-based Twitter account @ripx4nutmeg has also called attention to the fact that Essex Police are trained by Stonewall, an LGBTQ activist organization which heavily focuses on trans rights.

On their official website, the force states “Essex Police believes in dignity for all and are on a journey of incremental improvements, including how we can better include and enable the aspirations of people who are LGBTQ.”

The number of Britons who identify as “exclusively straight” has fallen to just 53 per among Generation Z, according to Stonewall.

In its ‘Rainbow Britain Report’ for 2022, the LGBTQ+ activist organisation hailed the fact that “our lives and experiences are now more visible than they have ever been — in every community, and in all aspects of life, in Great Britain.”

They noted, in particular, the fact that “only 71 per cent of people identify as straight” among Generation Z, according to their Ipsos-conducted research — compared to 91 per cent of Baby Boomers.

Moreover, fully 14 per cent of this young demographic “identify as bi or pansexual” — an astonishing rise from the mere 2 per cent of Baby Boomers who do so.

Generation Z may be even more “queer”, as Stonewall puts it, than even these figures suggest, with only 53 per cent identifying as “exclusively straight”.

“[Forty per cent] have a pattern of attraction that could be described as queer,” they crowed, defining this as anything “outside the scope of exclusively heterosexual attractions between cisgender people”.

A researcher who lost her job at a thinktank after tweeting that transgender women could not change their biological sex has won her claim that she was unfairly discriminated against because of her gender-critical beliefs.

Maya Forstater suffered direct discrimination when the Centre for Global Development (CGD), where she was a visiting fellow, did not renew her contract or fellowship, an employment tribunal found on Wednesday.

Hmm…

The tribunal also ruled that Forstater, the executive director of Sex Matters, suffered victimisation with respect to the removal of her profile from CGD’s website.

Its decision comes after Forstater successfully brought a test case to establish that gender-critical views are a protected philosophical belief under the Equality Act. She initially lost that case at an employment tribunal in 2019 but won a landmark decision on appeal last year, with the judge stressing that while gender-critical views might be “profoundly offensive and even distressing to many others … they are beliefs that are and must be tolerated in a pluralist society”.

The case was then sent back to the tribunal to decide whether Forstater’s claim had been proved on the facts. It upheld two complaints of direct discrimination and one of victimisation. Two other complaints of direct discrimination and one of victimisation were unsuccessful.

The judgment stated: “Absent an explanation from the respondents, the facts are such that the tribunal could properly conclude that the tweets were a substantial part of the reason why Ms Forstater was not offered employment; and the respondent’s evidence, far from proving the contrary, supports the finding that they were …

“We reminded ourselves that it would be an error to treat a mere statement of Ms Forstater’s protected belief as inherently unreasonable or inappropriate.”

The tribunal examined a number of tweets by Forstater, including tweets in which she drew an analogy between self-identifying trans women and Rachel Dolezal, a white American woman who misrepresented herself as black, and another in which she said: “A man’s internal feeling that he is a woman has no basis in material reality.” It concluded that the tweets asserted her gender-critical beliefs.

It said the same of one that described self-identification as a woman as “a feeling in their head”, rejecting the suggestion that it equated self-identification with mental illness.

The tribunal also considered tweets in which Forstater said she was surprised people could say they believed that males could be women, and that they are “tying themselves in knots”.

It said they were “fairly mild examples” of mockery, adding: “Mocking or satirising the opposing view is part of the common currency of debate.”

The three-member panel, led by the employment judge Andrew Glennie, said a description of a Credit Suisse executive, Pips Bunce, who identified as a woman for part of the week, as a “part-time cross dresser” could have been put in “more moderate terms”.

But two of the three panel members said it “did not amount to an objectionable or inappropriate manifestation of Ms Forstater’s belief, given the context of a debate on a matter of public interest; the fact that Pips Bunce had put themself forward in public as a person who is gender fluid and who dresses sometimes as a woman and sometimes as a man”.

Responding to the decision, Forstater said: “My case matters for everyone who believes in the importance of truth and free speech. We are all free to believe whatever we wish. What we are not free to do is compel others to believe the same thing, to silence those who disagree with us or to force others to deny reality.”

She also thanked JK Rowling for standing by her. The Harry Potter author tweeted: “Every woman who’s been harassed, silenced, bullied or lost employment because of her gender critical beliefs is freer and safer today, thanks to the warrior that is @MForstater.”

Stonewall, the LGBTQ+ campaign group, said: “Today’s judgment … does not change the reality of trans people’s workplace protection. No one has the right to discriminate against, or harass, trans people simply because they disagree with their existence and participation in society.”

People are today being urged to ‘stand proudly together in the face of an intolerant minority’ after new stats reveal some still hold on tightly to feelings that ‘drive homophobia, biphobia and transphobia’.

A report by Stonewall, released today, comes nearly 50 years since members of the LGBTQ+ community first marched through the streets of London.

In the decades that have passed since, people have tirelessly fought for equality in the face of adversity.

The new Take Pride report calls on people to ‘still stand proudly together in the face of a loud, intolerant minority.’

Stonewall’s report, delivered by Opinium, found that women and younger people are more likely to be pro-LGBTQ+ than men or older people.

As always, women are much easier to manipulate than men

Their findings also showed a minority who ‘are still holding on tight to the feelings of disgust and fear that drive homophobia, biphobia and transphobia.’

Just under one in 10 people said they feel ‘disgust’ towards the LGBTQ+ community.

These negative feelings were reflected in 9% of respondents toward gay people, falling to 8% for trans and bi people, and just 7% towards lesbians.

Feelings of ‘resentment’, ‘fear’ and ‘envy’ were recorded, but even rarer.

But overall, Stonewall has found a picture of ‘growing acceptance’ after more than 2,000 adults were surveyed.

The most common feeling the public has towards LGBTQ+ people was found to be one of respect, with more than a third of respondents choosing this option.

But people were more likely to say they felt respect for lesbian and gay people – 38% and 37% – than bi or trans people – 32% and 31%.

This Pride Month, people have been urged to ‘do more than wear a rainbow pin’ to encourage a further change in attitudes toward LGBTQ+ people.

Nancy Kelley, CEO of Stonewall, said: Over the last 50 years, every battle for the rights of LGBTQ+ communities has been fought in the court of public opinion as well as in the corridors of power.

‘This data reminds us to celebrate how far we’ve come, as well as focus on how far there is to go.

‘Nobody should have to grow up and go through life worrying that the people around them feel disgusted by who they are.

The Take Pride report has suggested focusing on building respect among men, older people and in particular areas where negative views are more common.

It adds: ‘It is clear that homophobia, biphobia and transphobia are closely interconnected.

‘Fifty years after we first marched together through the streets of London, we are still standing proudly together in the face of a loud, intolerant minority.’
