Novak Djokovic is basically the most heroic person on earth.

I mean, you could say Julian Assange, Andrew Anglin, Nick Fuentes, or… I can’t think of anyone else. But those are all political people. Djokovic is not a political person, was not involved in politics, and sacrificed his entire career for the sake of his own will.

Understand: it would have been really easy for him to get a fake vax card. I’m sure there were people in the league itself saying “come on, just get the fake vax card.” Instead, he decided to be a hero.

Novak Djokovic pulled out of next week’s hard-court tournament in Cincinnati on Friday because he has not gotten any COVID-19 vaccine shots and so is not allowed to travel to the United States.

That is also why Djokovic is not expected to be able to enter the U.S. Open, the year’s last Grand Slam tournament, which begins in New York on Aug. 29.

Djokovic is a 35-year-old from Serbia who owns 21 major championships, one behind Rafael Nadal for the men’s record. Djokovic has said he won’t get vaccinated against the illness caused by the coronavirus, even if that prevents him from playing in certain tournaments. He missed the Australian Open in January after being deported from that country and needed to sit out two events in the United States earlier this year, along with a tournament in Montreal this week.

Unvaccinated foreign citizens can’t go to Canada or the U.S. currently; the Cincinnati tournament’s news release announcing Djokovic’s withdrawal cited “travel restrictions.”

Djokovic has said he was still holding out hope of being able to enter the U.S. Open, but that would require a change of government policy, which the U.S. Tennis Association says it will adhere to.

Djokovic is a three-time champion at the U.S. Open and was the runner-up last year to Daniil Medvedev.

I don’t really believe that these other players got the vax.

Tennis is somewhat like an intellectual sport. These aren’t dumbass football players. Anyone with any kind of basic intelligence can see that there are zero benefits and a whole helluva lot of risks to this “vaccine.” They can all get fake cards if they want them. Anyone can get a fake card, frankly. It probably costs $1000. But even if it cost $1 million, top tier athletes could afford it.

Supporters of the bills believe that athletes born as men – particularly those who pass through puberty before transitioning, as Thomas has – have an unfair advantage and risk denying female-born prospects the chance to realize their full potential.

Their opponents say that outlawing trans athletes from taking part is discriminatory.

22-year-old Thomas is said to have been the top seed in the 200-yard, 500-yard and 1,650-yard freestyle events.

Yale University’s Iszac Henig, who is competing as a woman while transitioning from female to male, beat his own record to win the 50-yard freestyle on Thursday.

Henig beat Thomas in a race in January, although that heralded accusations that Thomas had not put in maximum effort on her way to an unusually slow sixth-place finish.

Former college swimmer Emily Kreps, of the Pennsylvania Family Institute, said that Thomas had posted the 17th fastest in history for women’s swimming.

Thomas was not made available for media duties afterwards. She is said to have met eligibility rules by receiving hormone therapy for more than two years.

Governing body USA Swimming recently ruled that a three-member panel will now decide whether women who have transitioned possess an unfair advantage during female competition against biologically-born women.

The National Collegiate Athletic Association has also issued a new policy allowing each sport to set its own rules. Leaders remain under pressure to take further measures.

Women will never get collectively mad about this, because to do so would mean they would have to violate the social norms dictated by the media.

Aside from “conservative women,” who follow norms dictated by Donald Trump and Fox News, the overwhelming majority of women follow the mainstream social norms.

Women will not ever break social norms, at least not in any numbers, and even individually, they won’t do it for long (unless they figure out a way to make money and fame doing it).

But the fact that Donald Trump and Fox News are capable of creating an alternative set of social norms means that it is possible.

That’s what we’ve always said about alleged “right wing” “women in the movement.” In order to create such a thing, you have to have a power center that is capable of creating social norms. There is no way for women to help you build that power center, and therefore there is zero reason, at this phase, to have “women in the movement.”

The Connecticut high school hockey player who died this week after his neck was slit open by a skate during a tragic incident on the ice has been identified.

Teddy Balkind, a 10th grader at the St. Luke’s School in New Canaan, was fatally injured Thursday night during a private-school matchup.

During the game, Balkind fell to the ice. As he lay on the ground, another player who was near him was unable to stop in time, and the two collided, officials said.

The game was immediately stopped and the young hockey player was rushed to Greenwich Hospital, where he died from his injuries, police said.

Sad.

Looks like he was a good kid.

But still – pretty epic way to go out, no?

Maybe I’m just a morbid person, but my whole thing is that we need to all understand that we’re going to die some day, and be aware of it always. Thus, I do regularly take note of “epic deaths.”

Russia will not be able to use its name, flag and anthem at the next two Olympics or at any world championships for the next two years after a ruling Thursday by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

The Lausanne-based court halved the four-year ban proposed last year by the World Anti-Doping Agency in a landmark case that accused Russia of state-ordered tampering of a testing laboratory database in Moscow. The ruling also blocked Russia from bidding to host major sporting events for two years.

Russian athletes and teams will still be allowed to compete at next year’s Tokyo Olympics and the 2022 Winter Games in Beijing, as well as world championships including the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, if they are not banned for or suspected of doping.

One win for Russia is the proposed team name at major events. The name “Russia” can be retained on uniforms if the words “Neutral Athlete” or equivalents like “Neutral Team” have equal prominence, the court said.

The burden of proof was also shifted away from Russian athletes and more toward WADA when their doping history is vetted for selection to the Olympics or other sporting events.

Russian athletes and teams can also retain the national flag colors of red, white and blue in their uniforms at major events. That was not possible for Russians at the past two track world championships.

Even with those concessions, the court’s three judges imposed the most severe penalties on Russia since allegations of state-backed doping and cover-ups emerged after the 2014 Sochi Olympics.

Anyone who knows anything about sports, or health and fitness more generally, is aware that virtually all Olympic level athletes are on drugs, and the contest is really who can hide it better.

It’s actually become ridiculous, and they might as well just start allowing drugs, frankly, because there is obviously no way to prevent it.

The idea that Russia is somehow unique here is ridiculous. It is obvious that they aren’t even worse at hiding it. They were subjected to very extreme scrutiny, because they are classified as a villain nation.

If I were Russia, I would fly the USSR flag at these events.

After years of protests from fans and Native American groups, the Cleveland Indians have decided to change their team name, moving away from a moniker that has long been criticized as racist, three people familiar with the decision said Sunday.

The move follows a decision by the Washington Football Team of the N.F.L. in July to stop using a name long considered a racial slur, and is part of a larger national conversation about race that magnified this year amid protests of systemic racism and police violence.

Cleveland could announce its plans as soon as this week, according to the three people, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly on the matter.

It is not immediately clear what Cleveland’s exact steps will be beyond dropping the Indians name. The transition to a new name involves many logistical considerations, including work with uniform manufacturers and companies that produce other team equipment and stadium signage.

One of the people said Cleveland planned to keep the Indians name and uniforms for the 2021 season while working to shift as early as 2022.

Cleveland spent much of the year before the 2019 season phasing out the logos and imagery of the cartoon mascot Chief Wahoo.

Ted Ginn is one of the fastest players in the game of football. He’s so fast that, even at 34 years old, he told Bleacher Report’s Adam Lefkoe he’d happily race anyone, pole to pole, for “$10,000 or better.”

It seems Ginn may have found a challenger willing to take him on: Texas high school track sensation Matthew Boling, who has recently become a viral hit for the incredible speed he routinely puts on display.

Ted Ginn is pretty confident about his skills.

On the one hand, 10.2 is better than Boling’s latest official record.

Boling is young and lacks the training and years of competitive experience that Ginn has.

How can anybody with a brain compare a man briefly flying home for the birth of his child to being pregnant?

Pregnancy lasts nine months, on top of that you have the recovery period after birth which can go up to six weeks, and finally you have the months at home, which the mother spends looking after and nursing the baby.

Our female members find it outdated at best and rather condescending that they can only sign one-year contracts, making life planning very difficult while men can sign multi-year contracts,’ it said in a pay submission published in The Australian.

It also criticised the practice of making women players prove they are not pregnant, describing it as discrimination that is ‘contrary to acceptable employer behaviour in any other Australian workplace‘.

They have not made it clear why they can only sign one year contracts, but one would assume it’s because no woman can fully confirm that they won’t get pregnant within the next few years.

Cricket is a business, not a babysitting club. No employer wants to waste time and money on someone who isn’t going to hang around for very long, and this is usually why men are preferred to women in the workforce.

Sport is something you have to be dedicated to as it consists of constant training. I’m surprised this is even an issue as I wouldn’t think women who want to have children would even bother with the sport industry.

What happens if they allow a woman to play cricket whilst pregnant and then something goes wrong with the pregnancy? From week thirteen of being pregnant I’d hope a woman isn’t putting her baby in danger by running around a field. And what happens if her stomach gets struck by a ball that’s going at 100mph?

The thought of a baby not having it’s mother around after only four weeks of being born is absolutely sickening. The first three years of a child’s life are the most important developmental wise, and it’s been proven that it’s not good for a child to not have their mother around.

And if feminists still can’t get their head around the apparently sexist narrative that a woman should be with her child, then look to nature to confirm that fact. Breastfeeding lasts for six months, how can you breastfeed while you’re at work and you’re newborn is at daycare? I guess that shows you that a mother is supposed to be at home and not off ‘developing a career.’

No woman should feel comfortable with the idea of dumping their baby off at childcare. It deserves the feeling of security that only a mother can offer it.

Seventy-five of the 81 passengers aboard a plane carrying a Brazilian soccer team were killed Tuesday when the aircraft crashed while on its way to the finals of a regional tournament, authorities in Colombia said.

The chartered British Aerospace 146 short-haul plane, operated by LaMia, declared an emergency at 10 p.m. Monday because of an electrical failure, aviation officials said. The plane had departed from Santa Cruz, Bolivia, and was carrying the Chapecoense soccer team to Medellin’s Jose Maria Cordova airport.

The southern Brazilian squad was set to play Wednesday in the first of a two-game Copa Sudamericana final against Atletico Nacional of Medellin. The tournament features some of the top soccer teams in South America.

“It’s a tragedy of huge proportions,” Medellin Mayor Federico Gutierrez told Blu Radio, later adding: “What was supposed to be a celebration has turned into a tragedy.”

The soccer club said in a statement posted on Facebook that “may God accompany our athletes, officials, journalists and other guests traveling with our delegation.”

Alfredo Bocanegra, the head of Colombia’s aviation authority, said initial reports suggest the aircraft was suffering electrical problems although investigators were also looking into an account from one of the survivors that the plane had run out of fuel about 5 minutes from its expected landing at Jose Maria Cordova airport outside Medellin.

A video published on the team’s Facebook page showed the team readying for the flight earlier Monday in Sao Paulo’s Guarulhos international airport. It wasn’t immediately clear if the team switched planes in Bolivia or just made a stopover with the same plane.

Brazil as well as South America’s soccer federation extended its condolences to the entire Chapecoense community and said its president, Alejandro Dominguez, was on his way to Medellin. All soccer activities were suspended until further notice, the organization said in a statement.

Elkin Ospina, mayor of La Ceja, near where the crash took place, said rescuers working through the night had been heartened after pulling three passengers alive from the wreckage.

Authorities and rescuers were immediately activated but an air force helicopter had to turn back because of low visibility. Heavy rainfall complicated the nighttime search, and authorities urged journalists to stay off the roads so ambulances and other rescuers could reach the site.
