In 2023, a substantial number of individuals, totaling 402,694, decided to formally dissociate themselves from the Catholic Church in Germany, a significant figure though slightly less than the record set in 2022.

The German Bishops’ Conference, which came out with these statistics, said while these numbers are high, they reflect a slight decrease from the 522,821 departures recorded the previous year, indicating that this was the second-highest departure rate to date, according to National Catholic Reporter.

In Germany, church membership has financial implications due to the church tax system, which is a part of the broader tax structure. Members who formally exit the church no longer need to pay this tax, providing a financial incentive for deregistration. Exceptions to this requirement include low earners, the unemployed, retirees, students and others.

Despite the slight decrease in departures, the overall membership of the country’s Catholic Church stood at roughly 20.35 million by the end of 2023, according to the German Bishops’ Conference.

The backdrop to these departures includes a longstanding crisis stemming from scandals related to abuse by clergy members, NCR noted. In recent years, many have turned away from the Catholic Church as these issues have persisted.

In an effort to address these concerns, the bishops and a prominent lay organization launched a three-year reform initiative known as the “Synodal Path.” The process, marked by deep divides between progressive and conservative elements within the Catholic Church, culminated last year with calls for the church to sanction blessings for same-sex unions despite overt opposition from the Vatican.

Further tensions have surfaced in a subsequent reform process initiated this year following Vatican pressures to halt previous reform votes.

“The figures are alarming. They show that the church is in a wide-ranging crisis,” Limburg Bishop Georg Bätzing, the head of the Bishops’ Conference, was quoted as saying. “Reforms alone will not solve the church crisis, but the crisis will get worse without reforms. And so changes are necessary.”

The issue of declining church membership is not isolated to the Catholic Church in Germany.

The Protestant Church also reported substantial departures, with around 380,000 members leaving in the past year, mirroring levels seen in 2022 and reflecting challenges facing religious institutions in Germany.

The fact that anyone is still going at all is what is actually amazing.

Korea’s economically active population is anticipated to plunge nearly 10 million by 2044 amid the country’s critically low births, data showed Monday.

The number of people aged 15 to 64, which stood at 36.57 million in 2023, is projected to decrease to 27.17 million in 2044, according to a report from the Korean Peninsula Population Institute for the Future.

The report also showed the number of elementary school freshmen, which came to 430,000 last year, is set to nearly halve to 220,000 in 2033.

The number of deaths was expected to reach 746,000 in 2060, compared with births estimated at just 156,000, leading to a natural population decline of 590,000.

Accordingly, Korea’s total population, estimated at 51.71 million in 2023, was forecast to drop to 39.69 million by 2065.

“The decline in the economically active population will damage consumption, leading to the collapse of the domestic market. It will also increase the burden of supporting the senior population, leading to an economic slowdown and prolonged low growth,” the institute said.

Korea has been grappling with a chronically low birth rate, with the total fertility rate, the average number of children expected to be born per woman over her lifetime, reaching a record low of 0.72 in 2023.

A junior high school principal lost his job and retirement pay, believed to be around 20 million yen ($135,000), as punishment for overfilling his coffee at a convenience store in Takasago, Hyogo Prefecture.

But critics have questioned the prefectural board of education’s decision to apply the most severe penalty available, saying it is akin to giving a “death sentence” for an offense of little monetary loss.

According to the board, the principal paid 110 yen at the counter of a convenience store to buy a regular-size coffee at a self-service coffee machine on Dec. 21.

However, a store clerk noticed that he filled his cup by pressing the button for a large coffee, which costs 180 yen.

When confronted, the 59-year-old principal of the city-supported school admitted to cheating on his coffee purchase. He also admitted that he had done this twice before at the same store.

Police sent files on the suspected theft to the Himeji branch of the Kobe District Public Prosecutors Office.

Prosecutors acknowledged that he committed the theft, but decided not to indict him.

At an interview by board officials, the school head reportedly said he did it “on the impulse of the moment” and he was “truly sorry” for his misconduct.

The principal also admitted to doing the same thing four times at another store–bringing the total amount he had scammed to 490 yen.

There are four levels of punishment used to discipline public servants.

Dismissal is the most severe measure, followed by suspension from work, receiving a pay cut and being reprimanded, in that order.

The guidelines for disciplinary actions set by the Hyogo prefectural government dictates that a public servant who has committed theft should be either suspended from work or dismissed.

The board announced the principal’s dismissal on Jan. 30, revoking his teaching license and forfeiting his retirement pay, for overfilling the three cups of coffee at the store where he was caught.

Explaining the decision, the board said it ascertained that he was responsible for the theft, citing the prosecutors’ judgment.

When asked whether dismissal or suspension from work was the more appropriate response, a board official told The Asahi Shimbun that they decided on a “strict application” of the rules in the principal’s case.

“We reviewed past disciplinary actions and concluded that dismissal is appropriate for a repeated offense,” the official said.

There was an incident in another prefecture in which a municipal employee was dismissed for pouring a 200-yen cafe latte at a self-serve coffee machine at a convenience store despite paying for a 100-yen coffee.

A Virgin Atlantic flight from Manchester to New York was cancelled just before take-off after a passenger raised concerns about missing bolts on one of the plane wings. According to the New York Post, a 41-year-old British traveler aboard Flight VS127 on January 15, spotted four missing fasteners during a safety briefing and promptly informed the cabin crew. After he raised an alarm, engineers were quickly notified, who conducted maintenance checks on the aircraft.

”I’m a good flyer, but my partner was not loving the information I was telling her and starting to panic, and I was trying to put her mind at rest as much as I could. I thought it was best to mention it to a flight attendant to be on the safe side,” Phil Hardy told the Kennedy News agency.

A spokesperson with Virgin Atlantic told Fox Business the flight was ultimately canceled ”to provide time for precautionary additional engineering checks, which allowed our team the maximum time to complete their inspections.”

Why didn’t the airline’s employees notice this? And why are those guys’ faces censored? 

The team that conducted the inspections found the tops of four out of the 119 fasteners on the wing panel were missing, according to Virgin Atlantic.

However, both Virgin Atlantic and Airbus, the airplane manufacturer, said that no passengers were at risk. Each of the wing panels on an Airbus A330 has 119 fasteners, so the fact that only four were missing did not impact ”the structural integrity or load capability of the wing, and the aircraft was safe to operate,’‘ according to Airbus’s local chief wing Engineer.

This is all a result of brown people and women AKA “diversity” AKA “our greatest strength.”

While disasters like these are often front-page news, the broader connection between the disasters barely elicits any mention. America must be understood as a system of interwoven systems; the healthcare system sends a bill to a patient using the postal system, and that patient uses the mobile phone system to pay the bill with a credit card issued by the banking system. All these systems must be assumed to work for anyone to make even simple decisions. But the failure of one system has cascading consequences for all of the adjacent systems. As a consequence of escalating rates of failure, America’s complex systems are slowly collapsing.

The core issue is that changing political mores have established the systematic promotion of the unqualified and sidelining of the competent. This has continually weakened our society’s ability to manage modern systems. At its inception, it represented a break from the trend of the 1920s to the 1960s, when the direct meritocratic evaluation of competence became the norm across vast swaths of American society.

The footage matched with a clip taken on a cellphone from inside the vehicle that hit the woman — which cops say was posted to social media.

In that video, an occupant in the back seat with a feminine voice could be heard telling the driver, “Hit this bitch, hit this bitch” before the car plows into the victim.

A thump could then be heard as the vehicle strikes the woman, at which point the occupants start to laugh.

In a second incident — just a block away from the first — the driver can be seen directly plowing into another pedestrian, striking the unsuspecting victim head-on from behind, giving them no chance to move out of the way first.

Residents also said they were shocked by the videos, noting that most people walk rather than use a car in the area.

“It almost seems like they think it’s a joke, or like they’re doing it for fun, which is, like, pretty horrifying,” neighbor Ethan Gunnel told KIRO.

Passengers waiting in line for their flight out of Florida were left stunned by a woman who appeared to be half-naked from the waist down.

A now-viral video posted to Reddit Thursday shows the seemingly oblivious woman standing in line at the Spirit Airlines counter at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport wearing an orange halter-neck dress that appeared to have been hiked up — exposing her lower cheeks.

She had one hand placed on her suitcase as she stared straight ahead.

“Only in the f–king airport, Spirit Airlines,” a fellow passenger filming the woman could be heard saying.

“Motherf–ker what is this going on in 2023?”

The camerawoman then decided to pray, saying, “Lord give me strength, I say no drawers, no f–king drawers y’all, what is that, no drawers.”

She then seemed to turn her attention to the airline itself, asking employees to do something about the woman.

“I wonder if Spirit [is] gonna let this happen today,” the unidentified filmmaker says. “Spirit, you gonna let this happen?

A New Jersey man deliberately drove his SUV into a home and the offices of a municipal police department last week, authorities announced Friday.

No one was injured in the crashes, both of which took place on Sept. 20, the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office said in a news release.

However, at least one officer narrowly escaped being struck when John Hargreaves, 34, of Belvidere, drove into the Independence Township police headquarters, causing significant damage.

Hargreaves’ vehicle came to rest in the department’s squad room.

As he got out of the vehicle, prosecutors said Hargreaves put his hands in the air and appeared to be celebrating while loudly playing the Guns N’ Roses song “Welcome to the Jungle” on his car stereo as officers took him into custody.

That crash happened just minutes after Hargreaves had driven into the garage door of a home in Liberty Township, an act prosecutors said was intended to harass the homeowner, who is known to Hargreaves.

Germany’s leading professional association on sexuality and partnership, Pro Familia, is under fire after issuing a recommendation that daycares implement “body exploration rooms” and “sexual games” for young children.

The issue first came to light when news outlet BILD revealed that parents were sent an e-mail from an Arbeiterwohlfahrt (AWO) daycare center in the Hanover region which presented a list of ten rules explaining how children in the “body exploration room” would be encouraged to “pet and examine” themselves and other children.

Obviously, pedophiles would invent this sort of thing.

But that doesn’t mean pedophiles did invent it.

(In all reality, it was probably invented by millennial white women on behalf of pedophiles. We’re seeing a pattern there.)

“All children, especially preschoolers, are aware of the places in the facility where nudity and body exploration can take place,” reads the message. “Each child decides for themselves whether and with whom they want to play physical and sexual games. Girls and boys pet and examine each other only as much as is comfortable for themselves and other children.”

The list of rules

Other rules outlined in the communication stipulate that the children must be within the same age group with a gap of no more than two years, and that at no time should a child “stick anything into another child’s body openings.”

Hahaha.

One shocked father told BILD, “My daughter is five years old. I don’t want boys groping her. I have another child in another daycare center [where] there is no such thing [as an exploration room].”

Another father responded, “I’m devastated. We were told that this was determined by the Ministry of Education. As parents we were intimidated. What options do you have if you don’t want this?”

Uhhhhh…

Options are pretty limited, actually.

The Ministry of Education in Lower Saxony responded to the concerned parents by terminating the program before it was put into effect. A representative told BILD that, at the end of May, “the state youth welfare office reported to the Ministry of Education that the pedagogical concept of the physical exploration rooms in the daycare centers cannot last, and that this puts the well-being of the child at risk.”

However, Dirk von der Osten, Chairman of the Board of the AWO Region in Hannover, disagreed. “Exploring one’s own body is part of child development, during which they also learn to recognize their own limits, to express them clearly and to develop shame,” von der Osten said. “Children also play role-playing games in their group rooms. We do not see any child welfare endangerment in this.”

This is what every child group in Germany is saying.

Meanwhile, the Catholic churches in Germany are flying anal flags.

This is not the first time a policy recommended by Pro Familia has been called into question. In 2013, Deutsche Welle asserted that “Pro Familia is stuck in the pedophilia swamp,” and emphasized how the sexual education organization has repeatedly published the works of pro-pedophile lobbyists.

The Berlin newspaper Tagesspiegel investigated articles published by Pro Familia Magazine and found that pro-pedophile views were represented in works released in the 1980s and 1990s. An article by the psychologist and educator Wolf Vogel, dating back to 1987, for example, reflects “without prejudice” on the causes of pedophile lust.

Pro Familia has also platformed Rüdiger Lautmann, a sociologist and gay rights advocate who has a lengthy history of normalizing pedophilia.

Lautmann authored a book titled The Lust for Children: A Portrait of Pedophiles. The book is based on his interviews with 60 men who admitted to sexually abusing young children, primarily boys.

“For me, it is is very clear that there do exist relationships that do not require any intervention,” Lautmann wrote, “The children cling to their lovers, and can leave them any moment if they choose.”

These arguments always rely on Ancient Greece, where people made the same arguments during certain periods.

In 1995, Lautmann repeated the thesis of his book in an article for Pro Familia, a leading NGO which provides resources on sexual health. In Pro Familia’s official magazine, Lautmann’s article states: “Our study defines the term pedophile, distinguishes it from incest, abuse and sadism. We prove that such men exist. The thesis is therefore: The desire for a child is an independent and differentiated sexual form. Pedophilia is therefore a sexual orientation like any other and no longer a perversion.”

An article by Lautmann was again published by Pro Familia in 2013, titled “sexual research can change reality.”

I remember a German girl telling me all this stuff in around 2011. This is not new in the mainstream of German education, it’s just that all of the women who learned it ten years ago are now running the institutions.

I’ve seen people argue that the boomers are exaggerating when they say “pedophilia is the next stop on the slippery slope.”

A study from the Marriage Foundation suggested that nearly half of children in Britain are no longer living with both of their biological parents by the time they reach 14 years of age.

Drawing on a dataset of 4,476 first-born children in the UK conducted by the Millennium Cohort Study and weighing the sample to represent the national population, the Marriage Foundation revealed on Monday that 46 per cent of children in the country are not living with both their natural parents by the age of 14.

The Marriage Foundation found that the majority of such cases (70 per cent) were a result of breakups from non-married couples, while 30 per cent were from families of married couples. For children whose biological parents were still together by the age of 14, 84 per cent had married parents, compared to just 16 per cent who were unmarried.

The data also showed that 60 per cent of parents who had never married were separated at the time of their child’s 14th birthday, compared to 21 per cent who married before the child was born and 32 per cent who married following the birth.

Harry Benson, Research Director of the Marriage Foundation, said that even when “considering a wide range of socio-demographic controls – such as ethnicity, age, time lived together, education and relationship happiness”, the numbers still indicated a greater probability of never-married parents to split up at 46 per cent, compared to 26 per cent for those who married before the birth and 27 per cent after.

The results back up similar findings from the Children’s Commissioner last year which found the 44 per cent of those born in 2000 spent some time living outside of a traditional nuclear family by the time they reached 17.

The founder of the think tank, Sir Paul Coleridge said: “Every experienced parent knows that if adolescents are to successfully navigate the scary teenage years they need a secure and a stable family environment.

“If you want to experience the rich rewards of fully enjoying your children… marrying the other parent is a crucial first step.”

The Marriage Foundation report called on the government to do more to support marriage. This may be a big ask, however, given that the supposedly Conservative government has in its decade-plus in power demonstrated open hostility towards the traditional family.

For example, stay-at-home mothers were enraged in 2020 when then-Home Secretary Priti Patel demanded that the government do more to incentivise the 8.5 million “economically inactive” people — nearly two million of whom were women who decided to stay home to raise their children — into employment.

The government’s tax structure already punishes traditional family structures, with the state only taxing individuals rather than recognising family units, meaning that families reliant upon a single income of £50,000 will take home less money than two working parents on salaries of £25,000, thereby incentivising both partners to work rather than stay at home with children.

If this wasn’t on purpose, it would be considered a crisis.

They incentivize divorce for women, making it hugely profitable.

Then they disincentivize healthy marriages by making them brutally expensive.

I want to get this guy Coltraine to write summaries of books for the site. He is a super-reader. He’s the most extreme reader I know. He’s read probably 1000x more books than me. I’ve never seen someone read like this.

But his writing is long-winded, and doesn’t do great with structure (which is confusing, given that he reads so much, but most people probably need outlines and don’t do them). I think I might try to do some co-writing with him, because this is just really a waste to have this guy reading all of this stuff and not publishing.

Honestly, I’ve wanted to make his book reviews one of the key features of the site for a long time. He reads all this obscure Jew stuff. He’s probably read Adorno in full, which I have not done. Honestly, if I’m just being frank with you, I’m not super well-read, especially compared to a Coltraine type figure.

E. Michael Jones is also super well-read, and his footnotes in his books are a goldmine. He’s probably also written significantly about Adorno.

We really need to get on this Adorno guy. People talk about the Frankfurt School, but they usually just go into the anal stuff and then make vague reference to “cultural Marxism” (without ever saying these people are all Jews). Adorno is much more relevant.
