President Biden angrily hit back against a special counsel’s report on his handling of classified documents on Thursday, denying that he willfully retained papers that he was not entitled to keep and insisting that “my memory is fine” despite questions raised by the prosecutors.

In a hurriedly arranged nighttime televised appearance at the White House, a defiant Mr. Biden offered a feisty defense of his actions and his capacity to run the country, an effort to quell concerns that could hurt his chances for re-election at a time when polls show most voters already think he is too old. The report called him a “well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory,” a line that clearly got under the president’s skin.

He didn’t remember when his son died.

If controversy loves company, President Joe Biden may take comfort in the fact that classified documents have been found at the home of another US leader – this time, former vice president Mike Pence.

A lawyer representing Pence, Greg Jacob, last week reported to the National Archives and Records Administration that a “small number” of papers with classified markings were discovered at the ex-VP’s home in Indiana. Jacob wrote in a letter to the agency that the find was made during a search by a legal firm that Pence hired in the wake of this month’s scandal over Biden’s handling of state secrets. CNN, which obtained a copy of the letter, first reported the news on Tuesday.

The records in question “were inadvertently boxed and transported to the personal home of the former vice president at the end of the last administration,” Jacob said in the letter. “Vice President Pence was unaware of the existence of sensitive or classified documents at his personal residence.” He added that Pence stood ready to cooperate with “any appropriate inquiry” and wanted guidance from the National Archives on the “prompt and secure return” of the documents.

Yeah, okay – Mr. Jacob.

Pence attacked Trump over his documents, even though Trump’s were legal because the act of taking them to his house would have been de facto declassification.

Pence made the comments during a November appearance on Meet the Press, with host Chuck Todd questioning him on a number of topics. Pence called Trump’s handling of classified documents “not proper” at the time. 

“I’ve not hesitated to criticize the president when I think he was wrong. And clearly, possessing classified documents in an unprotected area is not proper,” Pence said.

I think all of this stuff is nonsense. No one even understands what it is about. These are not actually secret documents, it is just related to a law that classifies them as sensitive even though they are old and not really relevant. Every president (and maybe every vice-president) takes documents after they leave office to write their memoirs. No one respected the Espionage Act because it was never enforced.

But Pence is so disgusting, I will take a little joy in him now being hit with this hoax – apparently at the behest of a lawyer named Jacob.

“The document is an IAR, an intelligence information report,” said Christopher J. Farrell, who serves on the board of directors of Judicial Watch, which obtained the document. “It is produced by somebody within the Defense intelligence agency (DIA). It is reporting from the field by an intelligence agent” who could be a U.S. government agent, a defense attaché, or a source.

“It’s a report from the field back to headquarters with some intelligence that somebody is willing to bet their career on,” Farrell said.

Sounds pretty solid. And you say this was sent to Hillary?

How about this: “Hillary was knowingly giving support and aid to ISIS, which is killing Americans and undoing all the work our military had done to stabilize the Middle east. Because of that, the thousands of men and women who died in Iraq sacrificed their lives in vain. And now, this same crooked woman is advocating for letting her pet terrorists into the country to continue their rampage here.”
