The month of July saw more illegal immigrants arrive in Italian territory than the entire year of 2019, as landing continue in areas like the overwhelmed island of Lampedusa.

In 2019, just 11,471 migrants arrived in Italy during the entire year but statistics from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) have revealed that in the month of July alone a total of 13,197 migrants landed, the highest monthly arrival rate since June of 2017.

Populist Matteo Salvini, leader of the League, commented on the data saying, “In July of this year we exceeded the landings recorded throughout 2019. We can’t wait to return to the government to take care of work, security, and defence of Italy,” the newspaper Il Giornale reports.

“We need a minister ready to defend the borders, we owe it out of respect for Italians in difficulty,” Salvini later added.

Salvini served as Interior Minister of Italy for much of 2019 until his party’s coalition with the Five star Movement (M5S) collapsed and he resigned from his post in September.

During his time as Interior Minister, however, Salvini was credited for greatly reducing illegal arrivals as well as subsequent drowning deaths in the Mediterranean, which numbered 754 in 2019 and have risen every year since according to the UNHCR.

On Monday, the migrant taxi ship Ocean Viking dropped off nearly 400 migrants in the port of Salerno, while the ship Sea Watch 3 was able to disembark a further 438 migrants in Taranto over the weekend. Another ship, the Geo Barents, was waiting to drop off 659 migrants as of Monday.

They’re all going to end up in the UK and Germany anyway.

I don’t even know why Italy cares at this point. If Germany and Britain want all these people coming in, Italy should just traffic them directly across the border.

Italy’s highest court on Friday agreed that Carola Rackete, the German captain of a migrant rescue ship, should not have been arrested for forcibly docking in Sicily.

“This is an important verdict for all sea rescue activists!” Rackete said on Twitter. “No one should be prosecuted for aiding people in need. The EU directive on ‘crimes of solidarity’ needs reform,” she said.

You’re taking these vermin off the coast of Libya and taking them hundreds of kilometers to Europe instead of a few kilometers to Tunisia, where there is no Syrian civil war.

The dreadlocked Rackete was skipper of the Sea-Watch 3, one of several ships used by international charities to rescue migrants attempting the perilous sea journey from North Africa to Europe on rickety boats.

On June 12, Rackete’s ship picked up 53 migrants adrift aboard an inflatable raft off the coast of Libya.

The Italian authorities allowed some of the migrants to be taken in for health reasons but refused entry to more than 40 others, leading to a two-week stand-off at sea.

As conditions on board worsened, Rackete eventually sailed her ship to the island of Lampedusa despite an order from Italian officials not to dock there.

She was arrested on June 29, although a judge overturned that order on July 2, saying she had acted “out of necessity” because of the migrants’ condition.

They should stop with these retarded warnings and just sink the boats.

There is no logical argument against sinking the boats.

The high court Friday ruled that Rackete’s arrest was not warranted.

Sea-Watch, the charity which runs the rescue ship, welcomed the ruling, tweeting: “Once again: Sea rescue is not a crime!”

Rackete became a left-wing hero in Italy for challenging then far-right interior minister Matteo Salvini’s “closed ports” policy. Salvini is facing a potential trial for allegedly illegally detaining migrants at sea.

The guy actually enforcing the law is gonna go on trial for doing so, while people breaking the law are let go because muh feels.

A tribunal has recommended he stand trial for blocking migrants on a coastguard boat last July. But under Italian law ministers cannot be tried for actions taken in office unless a parliamentary committee gives the go-ahead.

The committee is due to take a decision on Monday, though that may be postponed.

Should the trial go head, Salvini faces up to 15 years in jail if found guilty.

“For some judges a German lady, who risked killing five Italian soldiers by ramming their patrol boat, doesn’t deserve jail time, but the minister who blocked dockings and human trafficking does,” Salvini said on Twitter. “That’s not justice, that’s a crying shame,” he said.

Salvini has accused his successor of re-opening the ports to rescued migrants, prompting more departures from Libya.

Yeah, they didn’t even mention that she rammed into a patrol and knocked the crew into the water.

Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte has granted two migrant transport NGOs permission to drop migrants off in Italian ports as the country looks at renewing funds for a migrant agency previously defunded by Matteo Salvini.

The Italian leader granted port access to the Sea Watch 3 vessel with 119 migrants on board on Tuesday, with the vessel docking at the port of Taranto, while the port of Messina is expected to receive a vessel from the Spanish NGO Open Arms, Il Giornale reports.

“We are happy that our guests can finally step on safe land, but there is still a lot that needs to be changed: Shady deals with Libya, further ad-hoc agreements, EU-funded human rights abuses, this must stop!” Sea-Watch stated on Twitter.

Notice how every single time these traitors win a victory against us, the first thing that comes out of their mouths is some variant of “more needs to be done.”

The move comes as Democratic Party (PD) Chamber leader Graziano Delrio announced that the government would be looking at reintroducing the protection system for asylum seekers and refugees (Sprar) that had seen its centres closed and defunded by the security decree of former Interior Minister Matteo Salvini.

Giuseppe Civati, a former member of the PD, said that the Salvini migration and security decrees should be totally abolished and advocated the return of the so-called humanitarian protection residency permit which allows migrants who fail asylum claims because they are not legitimate refugees to remain in the country — a policy that was scrapped by Salvini.

While the number of migrants entering Italy was greatly reduced in the first half of 2019, thanks to the pro-border policies of Salvini, the number of new arrivals has risen since Salvini and his League (Lega) party left the government in September of 2019.

“From September to today, considering the immigrants arriving in Taranto, Italy has received 6,249 people. In the previous eight months, with the League in government and more favourable weather conditions for departures, there were 4,976 arrivals,” Salvini said last month.

Well, the good news is that the only way Salvini and his gang are gonna lose the next elections is if the current government gives citizenship to the entire population of Africa.

The captain of the German aid organization Sea-Watch Carola Rackete wants to sue Italian Interior Minister Matteo Salvini for defamation. “We have already prepared a lawsuit against Minister Salvini,” said Alessandro Gamberini, one of her lawyers, on Italian radio. It was “not easy to grasp all the insults that Mr. Salvini has expressed in recent weeks.”

Salvini had recently attacked the German captain again and again. He described her among other things as a nuisance, “criminal captain” and accused Rackete, she had tried to kill five Italian soldiers.

Salvini was unimpressed by the announcement of a defamation lawsuit. “She violates the law and attacks Italian military ships, and then she sued me,” he wrote in online networks. “I’m not afraid of the mafia, so imagine a rich German and spoiled communist … kisses.“

Carola has, in fact, referred to herself as a “spoiled German” before.

So why is she suing Salvini for defamation?

Italian migrant transport NGO Mediterranea Saving Humans has launched a new vessel into the Mediterranean following the confiscation of their other ship.

The new ship, the Alex, set sail this week to the area off the coast of Libya known as the SAR (search and rescue) zone with the head of the group declaring that the vessel will pick up illegal immigrants and take them to Italian ports, Il Giornale reports.

Fun fact: Even if these were real refugees, they could just drop them off to Tunisia or Egypt, which are closer and are not part of the brutal Syrian civil war.

But they won’t do that, because their purpose is to flood Europe with them.

Luca Casarini, the head of the NGO, had been under investigation by Italian authorities in connection with people trafficking and was interrogated by deputy prosecutor of Agrigento Salvatore Vella in April.

In a press release, the NGO stated: “We will reach the so-called Libyan SAR, an area controlled by militias colluding with human traffickers legitimised by Italian and European Union policies. Our presence is the only real deterrent to their action.”

The group also mentioned Sea Watch-3 captain Carola Rackete, who was arrested by Italian authorities over the weekend after ramming a patrol boat in an attempt to forcibly land migrants in an Italian port, claiming that Rackete had simply done “what is right”.

The mission of the Alex will not be to directly pick up migrants, as the vessel is not equipped for such a task, but to support two other migrant transport NGOs operating in the Libyan SAR zone.

So far, Mediterranea Saving Humans has managed to raise over 800,000 euros toward their migrant transport operation, well above the original 700,000 euro goal.

Reports from last month showed that the NGO, along with Sea Watch, had spent millions of euros in the last few years on their operations in the Mediterranean.

I don’t suppose these people have to declare where they’re getting all this money, do they?
