We all thought that Jacinda Ardern was joining Islam when she started wearing a hijab in order to appease the Moslems after the Christchurch mosque meltdown. But it was more than that.

She was instead creating her own sect of equestrian Islam, complete with its own set of new rituals of atonement.

New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern issued a sombre state apology on Sunday to the Pacific community for racially targeted immigration raids in the 1970s that resulted in deportations and prosecutions.

The “Dawn Raids”, which often occurred early in the morning, took place from 1974 to 1976 when New Zealand’s economy was in a downturn and the government clamped down on immigrant workers from the Pacific who overstayed their work visas.

Addressing hundreds of people in attendance for the formal apology, Ardern said members of the Pacific communities continue to “suffer and carry the scars” of the raids in which they were specifically targeted and racially profiled.

“Today, I stand on behalf of the New Zealand government to offer a formal and unreserved apology to Pacific communities for the discriminatory implementation of the immigration laws of the 1970s that led to the events of the Dawn Raids,” Ardern said.

“The government expresses its sorrow, remorse, and regret that the Dawn Raids and random police checks occurred and that these actions were ever considered appropriate.”

As part of its formal apology, Ardern said her government will provide NZ$2.1 million ($1.5 million) in academic and vocational scholarships for Pacific communities and $1 million in leadership scholarships for young people from Samoa, Tonga, Fiji and Tuvalu, among others.

Sunday’s event included an Ifoga, a traditional Samoan ceremony in which people ask for forgiveness or receive forgiveness, where some ministers and members of parliament draped a mat over Ardern, which was then removed by members of the Pacific community.

A political crisis in the Pacific island of Samoa deepened on Monday after the country’s newly-elected prime minister was barred from entering parliament.

Fiame Naomi Mata’afa’s party claimed victory after the contested April 9 election, putting her on track to become Samoa’s first female prime minister — and ousting Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi who had ruled for 22 years.

However, Fiame has been locked out of parliament as of Monday, as her predecessor refused to accept defeat, raising fear of a coup.

Fiame had arrived at the parliament with judges in formal robes and horsehair wigs, for the swearing-in ceremony. They were barred from entering the parliamentary chambers, even as police forces were present.

She was later sworn in at a ceremony in a makeshift tent, as the incumbent still refused to step down. The ad hoc swearing-in is likely to face legal challenges.

Parliament in crisis

“We need brave Samoans right now… to uphold our election,” the prime minister-elect told her followers, who sang hymns and called for the election results to be honored. “There will be a time when we will meet again, inside that House. Let us leave it to the law.”

Samoan courts have confirmed Fiame’s narrow victory by one vote last month. The constitution requires parliament to convene within 45 days after an election result, Monday marking the last day for it.

Tuilaepa held a press conference, where he proclaimed his administration was still in charge. Details of his speech were shared by journalist Lagipoiva Cherelle Jackson.

“They have desecrated the grounds of Parliament and have made a ruckus in our hallowed grounds, they are trying to use force to open the House of Parliament. That’s breaking and entering. We will need to address that and do something about it,” Tuilaepa said in his address.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said in an interview: “We support Samoa’s democracy and we would call on others to do the same. This is a big change for Samoa over what’s been occurring in the past 20 years in their elections. Our call would be to maintain and uphold the rule of law.”

Australian Foreign Minister Marise Payne also pushed to let the democratic process play out, and said, “We have faith in Samoa’s institutions including the judiciary.”

The question is: why on earth do all of these leaders care about using some woman to take over the government of Samoa…?

Fiame’s victory was seen as a landmark in the politics of Samoa, which is largely conservative and Christian, and also has had very few female leaders.

During her election campaign, she staunchly criticized the ruling government. She also pledged to stop a Beijing-backed $100 million (€82 million) port development project. The country, with a population of almost 200,000 is already indebted to China.

Cops in Washington state have arrested a man suspected of attacking a 35-year-old woman who’d confronted him for allegedly fondling himself outside a grocery store.

The attack was so severe that the victim, Amanda Edwards, a mother of three from Federal Way, sustained four facial fractures. Edwards will reportedly need extensive reconstructive surgery requiring surgical plates to be implanted in her cheeks.

For the record – if I lived in a diverse place like most of America is today, I would never permit any woman I’m related to to leave the house unaccompanied by a male relative. That’s a luxury only people who live in normal/homogenous countries can afford.

The alleged assault occurred on Nov. 13. Edwards told investigators she was outside a local Safeway store at about 6:15 p.m. when a young man in a vehicle pulled up next to her and asked for directions.

“As she went to give them to him, she realized the suspect was fondling himself,” according to a synopsis of the incident that Federal Way police emailed to HuffPost.

Yeah, that’s another thing you should do in a diversity society – avoid people of another race altogether, no matter what.

 When Edwards asked the man to leave, he allegedly pulled up next to another woman with a child. Edwards said she then pulled out her cellphone to take a photograph of the man’s license plate, but her phone battery was too low to take a photo. When she warned the woman with the child about the man, he allegedly sped off.

Edwards said that when she was walking home after the troubling encounter, the man who had exposed himself “ran up and attacked her from behind, forcibly grabbing her genital area and forcibly pushing her to the ground,” according to police.

Edwards, who was unavailable for comment on Tuesday, told Seattle’s KCPQ-News that the man was “extremely aggressive.”

“He came up and he said, ‘I got you’ and when he started laughing ― it was one of the most evil laughs I’ve heard,” she said.

The thing about good and evil is that the former doesn’t exist in brown people.

“The next thing I know, I was waking up on the ground,” Edwards told KCPQ-News. “I didn’t realize I had been hit multiple times in my face.”

The tips ultimately led police to question 19-year-old Polevia Voloaga, who was arrested on Nov. 16 and faces charges of first-degree assault, indecent liberties and indecent exposure, police said. He’s being held in lieu of $250,000 bail.
