NATO will stand up for the rights of LGBTQ people, Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg declared on Friday.

He was among hundreds of Western public officials, institutions and organizations to make a statement affirming the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT).

Someone might ask: what does this have to do with fighting wars?

American senators from both parties coming out in support of aid for Ukraine and Israel is a powerful signal to Russia and China, as well as Washington’s allies, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said on Tuesday.

The 100-member chamber approved the $95 billion “national security” funding bill with 70 votes in favor and 29 opposed. Eight Republican senators spent most of the night filibustering against the proposal.

“Today we make [Russian President] Vladimir Putin regret the day he questioned America’s resolve, and we make clear to others, like China’s President Xi [Jinping], not to test our determination,” Schumer said in a speech after the vote. “And we send a clear, bipartisan message of resolve to our allies in NATO.”

Schumer also praised the passage of the bill as greatly impacting “the security of Western democracy.”

The Senate bill would give Ukraine $61 billion in aid, as well as $14 billion to Israel for its war against Hamas, and almost $5 billion for arming Taiwan. The White House originally bundled it with a “border reform” proposal but proceeded with foreign aid only after Democrats and Republicans could not agree on immigration.

The House of Representatives has passed a nearly $40 billion bill that will aid Ukraine in its war with Russia.

The bill, which includes military, economic and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine, cleared the chamber 368 to 57. No Democrats opposed the bill.

The sum comes just over the $33 billion President Biden initially requested from the chamber. The bill now heads to the Senate where it has bipartisan support.

On Monday, Biden urged the chamber to “immediately” consider his proposed bill as it could provide additional weapons and funds for humanitarian services in Ukraine.

“The plan was substantial in size, because the need is substantial: We must stand by Ukraine as it defends itself from Russian aggression,” Biden said Monday. “The need is also urgent: I have nearly exhausted the resources given to me by a bipartisan majority in Congress to support Ukraine’s fighters.”

The president said the aid “has been critical to Ukraine’s success on the battlefield.”

In a unique move, Biden said he did not wish the Ukraine aid to be tied up with any other packages, such as coronavirus relief, or any other agenda items that could prevent its passage.

“We cannot afford delay in this vital war effort,” Biden added.

Tucker’s people called all the GOP Senators. He said that none of these Senators who are voting yes on war on Russia would come on to explain themselves. He opened up the invitation and said he’d give any of them open time to explain why they are dumping this money into a foreign nation while our own people are dying on the streets.
