A California city has become the first in the US to pass a resolution condemning Israel — accusing the Jewish nation of committing “ethnic cleansing and collective punishment.”

The resolution passed by the Richmond City Council around 1 a.m. Wednesday states, in part, that Palestinians in Gaza “are currently facing a campaign of ethnic cleansing and collective punishment by the state of Israel.”

That “is considered a war crime under international law,” the resolution states.

It also calls for an “immediate humanitarian ceasefire and the safe passage of substantial humanitarian aid to Gaza,” as well as an “end to Israeli apartheid and the occupation and blockade of Palestinian land by Israeli military forces.”

“The city of Richmond opposes all existing and future military aid to Israel,” it concludes, while attempting to express support for Jewish members of its community.

Council members overwhelmingly supported the resolution, passing it 5- after a contentious, hours-long meeting that finally ended around 1 a.m. — to chants of “Free, free Palestine!”

The meeting started with Mayor Eduardo Martinez being accused of being a Nazi, prompting a shouting match that briefly delayed the hearing, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.

“If my words pain you, I’m sorry,” the mayor said after re-adjourning the meeting. “But they are words that have to be said.”

“To see the Richmond City Council propose this is an abandonment of the Jewish community,” one woman said at the meeting. “You hate Jews, you are the Nazis.”

Another said they “feel very unsafe in the community,” while a third claimed the resolution “supports the goals of the Palestinian dictatorships to kill all Jews and destroy Israelis.

“I totally oppose this resolution because it is full of lies that will only incentivize the Hamas and Nazi terrorists and their supporters, and add to the suffering of the poor Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank for decades,” the unidentified resident said, according to Fox News.

The Jewish Community Relations Council in San Francisco also condemned the city council and said the resolution was “inflammatory and biased.”

“Hamas had a great night in Richmond,” its CEO, Tyler Gregory, claimed.

The more I think about it, the more I think we should just view Islam as an offshoot of Christianity, like Mormonism.

I cannot see a Christian taking any issue with the statement “there is no god but God.”

They (Jews, frankly) will try to translate it as “there is no god but Allah,” but the English translation of “Allah” is “God.”

Moslems are monotheistic, so there is only one, eternal God, who is the same God the Christians believe in.

The Jews (kikes), conversely, worship Satan.

We need leaders who vow to put these statues back up.

Anyone who supports them being taken down is simply not fit.

The city of Richmond, Virginia, started removing its last standing Confederate monument on Monday.

City workers lifted the bronze statue depicting Gen. A.P. Hill, a Confederate general killed during the Third Battle of Petersburg in the American Civil War, from its base at the intersection of the city’s Hermitage Road and Laburnum Avenue.

Hill’s statue, which was erected on top of the general’s burial site, is the latest addition to a growing list of Confederate symbols that have been taken down across the country since George Floyd’s death in 2020 sparked a nationwide reckoning with police brutality and racism.

In 2020, a state law passed giving local governments in the Old Dominion the right to keep or remove Confederate monuments.

Richmond, which was once the capital of the Confederacy, has since removed several monuments including a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee. Protesters had toppled a monument of Jefferson Davis, the president of the Confederacy.

The removal of Hill’s monument had been challenged in court but a ruling by Circuit Court Judge David Eugene Cheek Sr. in October cleared the way for the city to proceed.

Indirect descendants of Hill, who disagreed with the city’s plan to move the statue to the Black History Museum, argued that the site was a cemetery and that they had the right to move the monument and the remains.

The judge ordered the city to relocate the statue to a museum and Hill’s remains to a local cemetery, according to a court order and opinion letter reviewed by CNN.

Of course they violated the grave.

Richmond Police have arrested a third suspect in connection to a homicide that happened just before a warehouse fire on Thurman Street in November.

18-year-old Johntae D. Sauls, 18, of the 3400 block of Maury Street, was arrested Friday, without incident.

Sauls has been charged with murder, robbery, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. His booking photo is attached.

Two other suspects have been charged in connection to the crime.

18-year-old Roquanta R. Beard, of Ritter Street, turned himself in Thursday to Richmond police headquarters without incident and is charged with grand larceny.

Fire crews responded to Thurman Street at 2:22 a.m. on Nov. 1 for reports of a warehouse fire. Richmond firefighters found the body of 35-year-old Anthony S. Wheeler after the blaze was put out. Wheeler had been fatally shot, police said.

During the course of an investigation, authorities charged Marquise J. Culpepper with murder, robbery, arson and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Culpepper, a 20-year-old from Richmond, was already in custody on unrelated charges, authorities said Wednesday, and additional charges are pending.

The victim was found riddled with bullets in a burning building.

Living in a black-majority city does tend to lead to such things.

A second teenager has turned himself in after a Charles City man’s body was in a burning Richmond building in November.

Richmond Police said fire crews were dispatched to a Southside warehouse in the 00 block of Thurman Street on Nov. 1 just after 2:20 a.m.

After the fire was out, firefighters discovered 35-year-old Anthony S. Wheeler of Charles City unresponsive inside the warehouse and suffering from apparent gunshot wounds, police said.

Wheeler was pronounced dead at the scene.

Richmond Police officials said Wednesday 20-year-old Marquise J. Culpepper, of the 2400 block of Hull Street in Richmond, who was in custody on unrelated charges, was charged in Wheeler’s death.

Culpepper was charged with murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, robbery, and arson, police said. Officials said additional charges are also pending.

Additionally, police said they have outstanding warrants for 18-year-old Roquanta R. Beard, of Ritter Street in Richmond, and for 18-year-old Johntae D. Sauls, of Maury Street in Richmond, for their involvement in the crime.

All things considered, this lad’s decision to sell his sail foam on a meetup site in a city that’s more than 60% black was not a smart one.

Tyshawn Andrews, 16, the triggerman in the shooting death of 23-year-old Joshua Grey was sentenced Wednesday to 25 years in prison with 10 years suspended.

Andrews reached a plea agreement with prosecutors, agreeing to second-degree murder in September.

The 16-year-old faced a maximum of 40 years in prison, but Andrew’s attorney and the Commonwealth of Virginia attorney agreed on a written sentencing where Andrews would serve 25 years with 10 years of suspended, for an active sentence of 15 years.

A portion of his sentence will be served in juvenile detention.

Grey was murdered on September 17, 2018, after a botched robbery of his iPhone off arranging the sale of his phone on the app “Letgo,” an app that enables you to buy and sell items to people in your area.

Prosecutors say Andrews was an accomplice to carry out the robbery. He is the second man to be sentenced in Grey’s murder.

In April, Demeco Pressey-Robertson, 18, the man prosecutors called the mastermind behind the robbery and killing was acquitted of first-degree murder but found guilty of attempted robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery.

Pressey-Robertson was sentenced to 20 years in prison last month.

“There are so many people who have lost in this scenario. So many people and it’s just got to stop,” said Joshua’s mom Diane Grey. “They (Andrew’s family) lost their son just like we’ve lost Josh. It was a split-second decision gone horribly wrong. Nobody wins. There’s just lost everywhere and grief everywhere,”

Andrew’s Family was also present at the sentencing but declined to speak at this time.

A 15-year-old pleaded guilty Tuesday to second-degree murder in the shooting death of 23-year-old Joshua Grey.

Tyshawn Andrews, the accused triggerman, reached a plea agreement with prosecutors, agreeing to second-degree murder. Additional charges of conspiring to commit robbery, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and attempted robbery were nolle prossed, according to court records.

Police have arrested two people in connection to a homicide in Richmond’s Fan neighborhood.

Police released photos on May 10 of the couple last seen walking out of a business in the 2400 block of Sheila Lane heading toward a neighboring apartment complex.

“With the help of multiple tips, detectives have located and arrested two persons of interest in the homicide on Stuart Avenue that happened earlier this month,” Richmond Police officials said Thursday afternoon.

As a result, 41-year-old Nicole P. Andrews, of the 8200 block of Elswick Drive in Henrico and 38-year-old Donnell A. Young, of the 3400 block of Maury Street in Richmond, were arrested Thursday and charged with possession of stolen property, conspiracy to commit robbery, and robbery. Additional charges are pending.

Officers were called to a home in the 2000 block of Stuart Avenue for a welfare check at 11:23 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7. Once on scene, they found Charles P. Smith dead inside the home.

Crime Insider sources said Smith was beaten, stabbed, and robbed.

Richmond police are investigating after a man was found dead Tuesday morning in an apartment in the Fan.

Charles P. Smith IV, 48, was identified as the victim in what police initially called a death investigation, but said Wednesday was a homicide.

Richmond police is looking for two person of interest who were last seen walking out of a business in the 2400 block of Sheila Lane. Police said they left the area on foot toward a neighboring apartment complex.

Images of the two persons of interest show a black male and black female. Police have not released a description.

“He always seemed like a very nice man and I know he had some entrepreneurial business endeavors and he seemed really smart,” said a neighbor.

Police responded at 11:23 a.m. for a welfare check in the 2000 block of Stuart Avenue. Smith was found dead in home located on the first floor shortly after.

The Medical Examiners Office confirmed the cause of death in this case is sharp force injuries to neck and abdomen and the manner is homicide.

Richmond Police announced the arrest of a man in connection to an assault of an Uber driver in the Fan District on October 28.

Ronald S. Young, 26, of Ridgecliff Road, was charged with robbery in connection to the attack that left a father on disability with even more injuries, police announced on Friday.

“This morning I happily got the news that they made an arrest. That’s good and they’re making progress,” 59-year-old Bradley Johnson said.

Uber driver Johnson was attempting to drive down the 2000 block of West Grace Street at about 2:17 a.m. when he encountered a group of people playing loud music, dancing and blocking the street.

“[Johnson] was attempting to drive through an intersection when he was robbed and assaulted,” a Richmond Police spokesperson said. “[He] was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.”

Authorities said two teenage suspects have been arrested after a man was fatally shot during a robbery outside a Richmond convenience store last week.

Police said Tyshawn T. Andrews, 15, of the 1300 block of Coalter Street and Demeco T. Pressey-Robertson, 17, of the 2400 block of North 23rd Street were arrested earlier this week in the murder of 23-year-old Joshua A. Grey.

Police said both suspects were charged with murder, attempted robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Since the juveniles were charged with murder in the commission of robbery or attempted robbery; they could face capital murder.

“Prosecutors really exercise discretion when they decide what’s going to be a death penalty case and there’s lots of factors that are taken into consideration including family wishes, evidence and the strength of the case. So, this could be a death penalty case,” said CBS 6 legal analyst Todd Stone.

Officials said police were called to a convenience store at the intersection of Mechanicsville Turnpike and Carver Street for the report of a person down at 1:36 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 17.

When police arrived, they found Grey, of the 7200 block of Riverside Drive, in the store unresponsive. He had suffered an apparent gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
