If the origins of Germany’s tricolor flag are not widely known, that is because the banner is rarely displayed in a country still atoning for the crimes it carried out in the name of national pride.

Note: Race is a social construct and genetics don’t actually exist, but Germans are required to atone for alleged crimes committed by their great-grandparents three-quarters of a century ago.

There may be a history lesson, then, and not just an electoral gambit, in the prominent use of black, red and gold in posters advertising Chancellor Angela Merkel’s bid for a fourth term in the federal election in September. Germany’s colors have appeared in previous modern political campaigns, but more mutedly — and hardly ever to amplify so blunt an appeal to the national interest.

Germans’ wary attitude to patriotism and the idea of a national culture is decades old. But circumstances both global and domestic are forcing a reconsideration. As the country decides how it might serve as a custodian of the liberal international order, it is also sorting out how to integrate migrants who began arriving in enormous numbers in 2015. Both undertakings bear crucially on German values — and on the issue of whether a unified set of national principles even exists.   

“The question is really, ‘What’s the cement?’ ” said Arnd Bauerkämper, a professor of modern European history at the Free University in Berlin. “What should Germans have in common?”

One answer has come from Thomas de Maizière, Germany’s interior minister, who has championed the concept of “Leitkultur,” or leading culture, a term sometimes used as the conservative rejoinder to multiculturalism.

“Strength and internal certainty about one’s own culture leads to tolerance with respect to other cultures,” he wrote this spring in Die Zeit, a weekly newspaper.

The concept makes some on the left uneasy. Efforts to define German culture are “often used to draw a line between us and others,” said Katharina Zimmermann, a 32-year-old who works in marketing in Berlin. She added: “It makes me shiver when I see a German flag.”

Merkel’s campaign materials feature “the most prominent display of the color code ever,” said Thomas Strerath, head of the Hamburg-based advertising agency that developed the designs.

Originally intended to fend off a challenge from the far-right Alternative for Germany, the color scheme is intended to appeal to patriotism, not nationalism, Strerath said. In internal papers, the agency settled on the concept of “falling in love again with Germany.”

“Trump had been elected, [Rodrigo] Duterte in the Philippines and [Recep Tayyip] Erdogan in Turkey were tightening their grip,” Strerath said. “We realized that what they have in common is that they don’t come up with the best argument but instead address emotions. If we’re good at something in advertising, we’re good at addressing emotions, and we didn’t want to let the interpretation of what Germany means be the territory of the far right.”

The trial against the so-called “Arboga-woman” has drawn attention to how middle-aged women in the asylum industry are having sex with refugee children. “We all do it”, says the testimony of an asylum woman on the left-wing site “Blankspot”.

According to the woman’s text, sexual relations between women and so-called refugee children are extensive. In her text about one of her sex nights with a “unaccompanied refugee child” she writes:

Academician and debater Ann Heberlein, who recently changed her views on immigration, writes in a comment that the text confirms how this behavior is fully accepted and systematized in the environment around the unaccompanied refugee children.

HSO thinks that two community groups are put against each other when their old premises will be given to newly arrived asylum seekers.

– Like they have done now in this municipality. This places weak groups against each other. It causes more problems than you might think. You do just like this when you want to create problems in a community. Obviously, we should receive them and help, but not at the expense of other groups, says Carina Lindegren.

Ylva Sundkvist says to SVT Norrbotten that there were never any thoughts of putting two groups against each other. Strömgården is just the most suited as homes as it has previously been a retirement home, she says.

So Sweden’s most vulnerable citizens are being ripped from their homes and dumped into an abandoned school – and have to personally pay for the move.

German authorities have resorted to issuing cartoon leaflets in public swimming pools in an attempt to stop gangs of migrants groping women.

In the wake of the sex assaults in Cologne on New Year’s Eve and a wave of reported cases of sexual harassment in swimming baths, officials have now created a special cartoon guide on appropriate etiquette.

The illustrations feature German captions with subtitles in English and Arabic and warn migrants not to wear underwear instead of swimming trunks, harass women, or push them in the water.

The head of the Swedish police has sparked outrage by expressing sympathy with the teenage asylum seeker accused of murdering social worker Alexander Mezher.

National Police Commissioner Dan Eliasson, who has already admitted police cannot cope with the wave of migrant crime, said he has concerns about the ‘horrors’ and trauma the accused murderer may have witnessed. He said he was ‘distraught’ on behalf of Miss Mezher’s family but also for the killer, saying: ‘What has that person been through? Under what circumstances has he grown up? What is the trauma he carries?’

It came as court documents showed the boy suspected of the killing is being held in a secure psychiatric that specialises in patients with psychotic illness, drug and alcohol addiction.

Of course, Dan would do well to consider the trauma this poor Somali savage is undergoing in the cruel system that was cold enough to arrest him for the accidental killing in the first place. How privileged was this girl when she was alive? How much more comfort had she enjoyed, and how better were her meals than the poor Somali boy who nobody knows the true age of? When you look at things in this Jewish fashion, you come to see how the girl is guilty of her own killing and her family should be giving everything they own to the Somali boy. Indeed, they should adopt him.

Kent Ekeroth, a member of parliament for the anti-immigrant Sweden Democrats tweeted: ‘This is where Dan Eliasson feels sorry for the guy who knife murdered the woman at the asylum home – resign!’

Eliasson is not the first senior political figure in Sweden to demand compassion for the 15-year-old boy being held on suspicion of murder.

His comments follow the release of court documents which show murder detectives do not know the true identity of the Somali boy who allegedly stabbed to death Miss Mezher.

Reports suggested the boy was 15 and living in a child migrant centre in Molndal where Miss Mezher worked. But next to the suspect’s name are the words ‘ID ej styrkt’, meaning ‘ID not proven’.

It means the boy had nothing to prove his identity when he arrived in Sweden – and that he could be 18 or even older.

A police spokesman in Gothenburg yesterday told MailOnline: ‘We are not 100% sure about the boy’s identity. But we do have a good picture and will find that out eventually. This is usually the case with unaccompanied refugee children. It is hard to establish if their identity is true or not.’

It is not his identity that matters, but the fact that he is not White. This is the only thing that matters in this day and age. Controversial police chief Eliasson, 54, has held several senior positions within the Swedish justice system.

After completing a law degree, and studying European Integration in Amsterdam, he went on to work on for the Swedish government both in the Foreign office and the Justice department.

He has since served in a number of positions, including acting head of the Swedish Security Service and the Ministry of Justice Chief of International Affairs.

A former lawyer, he was Director-General of the Swedish Migration Agency, from which he resigned in 2011, just before the migration crisis started.

He became the Director-General of the Swedish Social Insurance Agency, the government agency for welfare benefits.

However, long before he embarked on a career in law and politics, he was a passionate musician.

In the late 1970s he was in a punk group called ‘Bad Boo Band’, who sang ‘Knulla i Bankok’ (F*** in Bankok), criticising Thailand’s sex tourism.

Earlier this week, Eliasson demanded 4,100 more police officers as Sweden struggles to cope with the new wave of migrant related crime.

Swedish police revealed they have sent plain-clothes officers to monitor swimming baths in Stockholm after increased reports of sexual harassment of girls and women.

Last night it was also claimed police had been forced to flee after being attacked by a mob of asylum seekers as they tried to relocate a ten-year-old boy amid allegations he had been ‘raped repeatedly’ at a refugee centre.

Miss Mezher had been working at the housing block since September.
