Prosecutors said on Friday that they will not file charges against Marilyn Manson after a years-long investigation of allegations of sexual assault and domestic violence.

The Los Angeles county district attorney, Nathan Hochman, said the allegations were too old under the law and the evidence was not sufficient to charge the 56-year-old shock rocker whose legal name is Brian Warner.

“We have determined that allegations of domestic violence fall outside of the statute of limitations, and we cannot prove charges of sexual assault beyond a reasonable doubt,” Hochman said. “We recognize and applaud the courage and resilience of the women who came forward to make reports and share their experiences, and we thank them for their cooperation and patience with the investigation.”

Nearly four years after the investigation began, the then district attorney, George Gascón, said on 9 October that his office was pursuing new leads that added to the “already extensive” file that authorities had amassed.

LA county sheriff’s detectives said early in 2021 that they were investigating Manson for incidents between 2009 and 2011 in West Hollywood, where Manson lived at the time. The investigation included a search warrant that was served on his West Hollywood home. The case was initially turned over to prosecutors in September 2021, but the Los Angeles county district attorney’s office requested more evidence-gathering and the investigation resumed.

The identities of the women police and prosecutors spoke to were not revealed, but the Game of Thrones actor Esmé Bianco – who sued Manson in a case that has been settled – said she was part of the criminal investigation. Before the decision not to prosecute, she criticized how long the process was taking at a rally for Hochman, who was elected soon after.

Rap star Jay-Z has been accused of raping a 13-year-old girl with fellow music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs at a party in 2000, NBC News reported on Sunday, citing a lawsuit. 

The suit was reportedly filed in the Southern District of New York in October, and originally listed only Combs as a defendant. It was refiled on Sunday to add Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter.

According to the anonymous accuser, reportedly identified as “Jane Doe” in the document, the assault happened at an MTV Video Music Awards after-party in 2000. At the time, the alleged victim was 13 years old, the news outlet noted.

And now, this anonymous person is 40.

Anonymous accusers are a joke and an insult to the entire legal system and civilization itself.

Any allegation like this made anonymously should just be dismissed out of hand. A court tried to do that in 2008 and it was overruled, and now every rape hoaxer destroys their victims anonymously, keeping their identities a secret even after the victim is proved innocent.

The lawsuit reportedly specified that the girl did not have a ticket, and was trying to gain access to the show at the Radio City Music Hall or an after-party by asking various limousine drivers to help. One of them allegedly told her that he was working for Combs and that she “fit what Diddy was looking for.” The driver reportedly invited her to a party after the show and told her to return to his car later in the evening after he transported Carter and Combs.

The suit claims that the driver later picked her up and drove to a white house with a U-shaped driveway. The accuser was forced to sign a document she believed was a nondisclosure agreement on arrival to enter the party, where she was offered a drink that made her feel “woozy, lightheaded and felt [like] she needed to lie down.” 

According to the document, shortly after she went into a room to rest, Combs and Carter entered with Diddy saying: “You are ready to party!” Carter then allegedly removed her clothes, held her down and raped her while Combs and an unnamed female celebrity looked on. Combs also raped the girl, the suit alleged, as Carter and the woman watched.

The lawsuit was filed and updated by Texas-based attorney Tony Buzbee, who represents more than a hundred other applicants who have made various sexual misconduct allegations against Combs. The rapper is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn as he awaits trial. It is the first suit in which the lawyer has named another high-profile defendant. Buzbee declined to comment on the latest developments to NBC News.

“Carter received a letter from Plaintiff’s counsel requesting a mediation to resolve this matter” before the suit was refiled Sunday, the media outlet noted, citing the document.

A jury at a civil trial at Ireland’s high court has found that the Irish martial arts fighter Conor McGregor assaulted a woman who had accused him of raping her at a hotel in Dublin in December 2018.

McGregor was ordered to pay nearly €250,000 (£210,000) in damages to Nikita Hand, who is also known as Nikita Ní Laimhín.

Lawyers for Hand had accused McGregor, 36, of “brutally raping and battering” her after she invited him to join her and a friend at a work Christmas party.

Hand also alleged that another man, James Lawrence, who joined the party, sexually assaulted her. The jury found that Lawrence did not assault Hand.

So she was lying about one man but telling the truth about the other?

She was proven to be lying about one part of a specific event, but telling the truth about the other part?

Speaking outside the court after the verdict, Hand, 35, told reporters that she was “overwhelmed” by the support she had received. She thanked her family and a staff member from a rape crisis centre who had sat beside her throughout “this entire period”, including the two-week trial.

The President of France Emmanuel Macron has come under fire after saying he was in favor of incorporating the notion that a sexual act without consent should fall under the country’s criminal definition of rape.

The legal definition of rape in France includes the notions of “violence, coercion, threat or surprise,” but makes no mention of “consent.” Women’s rights advocates have been calling for the law to be tightened by including the concept so that any sexual act without consent constitutes rape. Only a tiny fraction of rapes or attempted rapes lead to a conviction, they claim.

If you watch Macron, his entire agenda surrounds making France somehow relevant again using various gimmicks (instead of actually building things of value). Just to restate for anyone new here: actual rape is impossible without physically harming the woman. You basically have to punch her in the face and/or seriously choke her. (That one is tricky because a lot of women/all women like being choked.) The only way to not physically harm her is to hold a gun or a knife to her head and tell her you’ll kill her. Technically, a third method would be surreptitiously drugging her, and then carrying her someplace and having sex with her while she’s passed out. (But women voluntarily take so many drugs that this one is hard to prove.)

Basically: there shouldn’t be laws against against “rape.” There should be laws against physically assaulting women, threatening them with guns, and secretly drugging them. There are, in fact, already laws against all of those things.

Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlic-Radman has been accused of “violence” and not knowing diplomatic protocol after an awkward attempt to kiss his German counterpart, Annalena Baerbock.

The incident, clips of which went viral on social media, occurred during a group photo of the participants of an EU ministerial meeting in Berlin on Thursday.

Cameras caught Grlic-Radman, 65, grabbing Baerbock, 42, by the hand and then apparently trying to kiss her, with the German minister moving away and avoiding his lips.

German tabloid Bild labeled the episode “a smooch attack” on Baerbock by her Croatian colleague. According to the outlet, she “turned away at lightning speed” in order not to be kissed.

I’ve watched the video, and I’m not sure that’s what happened. It looks to me like he was going for the cheek.

What I can tell you for sure is that Baerbock giggled in a flirty way. She is fat and middle-aged and is definitely not getting a lot of male attention. I’m sure it was an exciting moment for her.

Bild claimed that the embarrassing situation occurred because Grlic-Radman had been late for the photo, arriving after all the other ministers had already exchanged kisses. Members of Baerbock’s team told the paper that what happened was just “a clumsy attempt to greet each other quickly.”

The actor and comedian Russell Brand is under investigation by a second UK police force amid new allegations of “harassment and stalking,” numerous UK media sources reported on Monday.

Brand, 48, who is being investigated by London’s Metropolitan Police following the publication two weeks ago of an array of sexual-abuse allegations by The Times, the Sunday Times and broadcaster Channel 4, is also the subject of a separate probe by the Thames Valley police, several media sources, including The Guardian and the BBC, said.

Brand has denied all allegations made against him.

“Thames Valley Police in the past two weeks received new information in relation to the harassment and stalking allegations dating back to 2018,” the police force said in a statement without directly naming Brand. “This information is being investigated. As such, it would be inappropriate to comment on an ongoing investigation.” 

Thames Valley Police is the force that operates in the Henley-On-Thames region of Oxfordshire, where Brand resides and where he also owns a pub. The entertainer didn’t immediately comment on the new allegations when contacted by the BBC.

The unnamed woman at the center of the new claims had reported her allegations to Thames Valley Police on multiple occasions between 2018 and 2022, the BBC said, but the police declined to take further action. Brand had accused the woman of harassment in 2017, the outlet also said.

Last week, the Metropolitan Police confirmed that it had opened an investigation into allegations of sexual offenses by Brand in London, as well as “elsewhere in the country.” Dates given for the alleged offenses are not recent, the force added.

A former Yale student who was kicked out of the school in 2019 after being accused and acquitted of rape in 2018 can now sue his accuser for defamation over statements she made during a school hearing on the matter after a Connecticut Supreme Court ruling over the summer.

According to the New York Post, 30-year-old Saifullah Khan has had a $110 million defamation lawsuit pending against the school since 2019, and has been fighting to bring his accuser into the suit.

In June, the state’s supreme court granted Khan’s request, and ruled that the accuser, a fellow student, shouldn’t receive “qualified immunity” from her testimony in a school hearing that Khan raped her after a 2015 Halloween party.

Qualified immunity protects people from being sued over statements they make in judicial cases, but the court ruled that the university hearing wasn’t a stand-in court proceeding, since Khan wasn’t allowed the chance to cross-examine his accuser.

Khan’s team listened during the referenced hearing to the woman’s testimony from a separate room, never being able to cross-examine her. The ruling said Khan’s defense attorney was left to act as a “potted plant.”

The court said that Yale’s hearing couldn’t be considered “quasi-judicial” because the woman wasn’t made to testify under oath, and Khan wasn’t provided with a transcript of the testimony.

Khan started attending the Connecticut Ivy League school in 2012 on a full scholarship, majoring in neuroscience. A 21-year-old acquaintance claimed that Khan took advantage of her following an off-campus Halloween party when she was extremely drunk. At the trial, Khan’s lawyers said the encounter was consensual.

Khan was suspended from classes amid the allegations, but returned to school in 2018 after his acquittal, despite a petition with 78,00 signatures and widespread opposition to his return. In the end, Khan was kicked out of the school in 2019.

“We are delighted and look forward to trial,” Khan’s lawyer Norm Pattis said.
