Two Jefferson County residents who were arrested Thursday night will be held without bond while prosecutors prepare charges against them.

On Monday, Jefferson County Judge Kim Bridgforth ruled prosecutors have probable cause to charge Marlo Carter, 29, and Jameisha McClain, 29, with capital murder in the Oct. 14 shooting death of Richard Ratliff, 69, who was found in a bathtub inside an apartment in the 2200 block of West 10th Avenue and pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers initially went to the apartment for a medical call and according to a report, Ratliff was bleeding from gunshot wounds to his face and chest. His pockets were also turned out and he was missing his cell phone. Five spent .380-caliber shell casings were found while officers were searching the apartment.

McClain and Carter were taken into custody Thursday night at a motel on Blake Street.

Detective Steve Rucker reported that when McClain was interviewed, she said she had not been with Carter when Ratliff was killed and said Carter had told her he was going to rob Ratliff and wanted her to come along but she refused. She also said Another female had used her name in the robbery and that is why people thought she was involved.

A woman is dead and a man is wounded and faces charges after what authorities described as a domestic disturbance Wednesday night in a rural area near White Hall.

Deputies were dispatched shortly after 10 p.m. Wednesday to the 3000 block of Mae Drive, where they learned that Hannah Roberts, 21, and Arnoldo Martinez, 34, had been fighting, according to Alicia Dorn, a spokesman for the Jefferson County sheriff’s office.

A witness told deputies that Martinez had been shot and taken to Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff.

At 10:26 p.m., deputies found Roberts’ body about 2 miles away on Boys School Road. Roberts’ body showed signs of being shot, deputies said.

Roberts’ body has been sent to the state Crime Laboratory to determine the cause of death.

“According to a witness, Martinez drove himself to Mae Drive, and from there he was transported to the hospital for treatment,” Dorn said. “Our deputies caught up to him at the hospital.”

Martinez remained hospitalized in stable condition Thursday. He faces charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of schedule VI controlled substance with intent to deliver and possession of schedule IV controlled substance with intent to deliver, according to Dorn.

Two Camden men face formal charges after they were accused of robbing a Wise Buck Pawn Shop in Pine Bluff and killing the owner in November.

On Thursday afternoon, Daryl Strickland and Rodney Henry were charged with capital murder, attempted capital murder, two counts of aggravated robbery and theft of property.

If convicted of capital murder, both men would be sentenced to death or life in prison without parole.

I hoped this would be a heart-warming tale of two colored gentlemen getting even with Mr. Shekelstein for screwing them over for the seventh time this month.

Alas, the victim was white, the crime senseless.

Authorities are asking the public for help locating and identifying two suspects they believe are responsible for fatally shooting one man and injuring a second at a Pine Bluff pawn shop Monday night.

Police say the shooting occurred at the Wise Buck Pawn Shop in the 2400 block of S. Camden.

According to a post on the department’s Facebook page, officials believe two armed individuals entered the store where one exchanged gunfire with the business owner, identified as Brandon McHan.

Police say the suspects fled the store, at which time another victim came to help McHan. Minutes later, however, the suspects returned.

The second victim used McHan’s firearm to exchange gunfire with both suspects. During this altercation, the victim was shot in the chin, abdomen and hand.

Both victims were taken to a local hospital, where McHan died as a result of his injuries. The second victim’s condition is unknown.

A Pine Bluff man is wanted for the rape of a mentally challenged person.

Lt. David Price said they are looking for 36-year-old Rodrick Adway. He is being charged with “rape of a mental person”.

The 21-year-old victim told police they were assaulted on more than one occasion. Price told THV 11 News Adway is a family member to the victim.

PBPD said Adway should be considered armed and dangerous.
