These is no “bird flu.”

This is another gigantic hoax.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul announced the state is temporarily shutting down all live bird markets in New York City and Westchester, Nassau and Suffolk Counties through February 14 after inspectors discovered seven cases of bird flu in poultry.

The cases were found over the past week at live bird markets in Queens, Brooklyn and the Bronx through routine inspections, Hochul said.

“For a week-long period, no poultry can be delivered to those live bird markets. Each uninfected market must sell down all inventory, undergo thorough cleaning and disinfection and then remain closed for at least five days. Each must then be inspected by our state Ag and Markets before they can reopen,” Hochul said at a news conference on Friday. “These are just simply measured, common-sense steps that will curb the spread of bird flu and ultimately, to keep New Yorkers safe, which is always my top priority.”

About 80 markets are affected by the order, officials said.

New York State Health Commissioner Dr. James McDonald said the state health department “is using all the tools at its disposal to monitor for avian influenza in human beings, and we’re prepared for widespread testing should the need arise.”

Aside from hyping a new pandemic hoax, this bird flu scam also provides an opportunity for the government and all of these institutions to attack the US food supply, and charge you $38 for a carton of eggs, which in turn raises the prices of all other foodstuffs.

Gov. Kathy Hochul’s plans for the Empire State to go green are going south as local communities refuse to build massive battery plants that would store wind and solar energy.

One upstate town where a top state official leading the state’s anti-fossil fuel push just voted to ban construction of the plants — and one New York City politician has already called to pause any new sites for the facilities.

“We called for — and still support — a moratorium on these [Battery Energy Storage System] facilities almost two years ago,” said Vito Fossella, borough president of Staten Island, where more than a dozen of the facilities are planned.

“They are being placed literally right next door to people’s homes, and even next to a gas station,” Fosella said. “The city is playing with fire by allowing this type of reckless policy to continue.”

Well, they will start literal fires (which are nigh impossible to put out), and they will also give everyone cancer.

Then when they are used up, they will be disposed in a way that dumps poisonous rare earth minerals in the water supply.

This is all just lunacy. Coal power never caused these problems. But they invented this ridiculous scam about “global warming” so they could make all of this money poisoning everything and giving everyone cancer.

Duanesburg — where New York State Energy Research and Development president and CEO Doreen Harris lives — recently voted to ban BESS buildings because they “will pose a threat to the public health safety and welfare of residents of the Town and their property,” according to a resolution by the town board.

Duanesburg officials said they decided on the ban, first reported by the Daily Gazette, because the town relies on volunteer firefighters and that part of the town lacks access to public water. Critics have said they are not only a fire hazard, but could spark a blaze that takes longer to extinguish and would spew toxins into the air.

The BESS backlash is a blow to the state’s plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40% by 2030 and achieve 100% zero-carbon emission electricity by 2040 under the the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act of 2019.

The facilities are considered vital in that green push but other communities are digging in against planned construction of the facilities, whether they are directly attached to construction of new alternative-energy plants or standalone battery plants.

Massive opposition has mounted against a 116-megawatt storage site on the Westchester County-Putnam County line. The town of Carmel in Putnam voted last October to ban lithium battery storage systems.

Trump needs to move to ban all of these “green” energy programs based on environmental and health grounds.

These companies do not have any right to poison everyone.

Soldiers with the New York National Guard are currently testing “pocket-sized” drones that the Army hopes will one day be commonplace across its force.

New York National Guard soldiers became the first unit of its kind to train with the Black Hornet 3 drone, a mini unmanned aircraft that can fly about 24 minutes and requires minimal equipment to operate, according to a report from Task & Purpose.

The tiny drones, which have already deployed with units such as the Army’s legendary 82nd Airborne Division, are small and lightweight enough that a single soldier can carry the drone, controller, and batteries needed to operate the system as part of their standard combat load. Once in the air, the device can transmit live video and HD still images of the surrounding area.

Some active duty units started using the drones in 2019 and Special Forces teams in Afghanistan had them a few years prior to that. The Army hopes that the tiny devices will soon be in the hands of all 7,000 of its squads, the report notes.

It’s about time someone taught black people to swim. I’ve been saying this for years. The excuse is that they have smaller chest cavities, so they don’t float like white people will naturally float, but does that mean that every single time a black person goes in the water, their only option is to drown?

Surely, there much be some maneuver you can teach them that allows them to keep their head above water long enough for someone to throw them a floatation device or a rope or something. Figure it out.

Valerie Spears hadn’t planned on taking swim lessons when she RSVP’d to her high school reunion in New York City.

But when Spears, a 72-year-old retiree who lives in Akron, Ohio, learned about a free class in Queens, she decided to pack her bathing suit.

“I’m seeing it on TV. A lot of kids are drowning because they don’t know how to swim and when [my daughter told me about the class], I said: ‘Maybe I should go,’” Spears said. “I might drown myself as an older person.”

You’re more likely to get shot or OD on crack.

On 20 June, Spears participated in a lesson organized by Black People Will Swim (BPWS). The gathering was part of a larger effort, coined the World’s Largest Swim Lesson, to promote water safety.

Dozens of first-time swimmers of all ages joined the Jamaica, Queens, event, with lessons rotating based on age group.

At the start of the evening, instructors assessed a group of excited, younger children on their comfort in the water. Later, older adults got into the pool, practicing essential skills like floating as participants cheered each other on. Volunteers handed out free goggles and caps and shared information on future lessons. At the end, everyone received a certificate.

“It’s just really empowering people and letting them know that you do have options [with learning] how to swim,” said Paulana Lamonier, the BPWS founder.

Lamonier, a former competitive swimmer, started BPWS in 2019 as a “side hustle” after posting on social media that she wanted to teach 30 people how to swim. Since then, BPWS has provided free and low-cost swimming lessons to more than 2,500 Black and brown people at Queens’ York College pool. Lamonier said she plans to expand the business.

Like most of their clients, BPWS’s 15 swim instructors are Black. “Seeing someone who looks like me, who is making me feel comfortable, who’s giving me the right affirmations to keep me going, that’s very empowering,” said Jeanette Benons, who takes lessons along with her two sons. “I think that’s a great step and very important for our little kids.”

Drowning is the leading cause of death for US children aged one to four, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Black people under age 30 are 1.5 times more likely to drown than white people, and those disparities are even starker during early adolescence: Black children aged 10 to 14 drown at 7.6 times the rate of white children.

I mean, maybe it’s good. I guess probably the blacks who are going to swimming lessons are the good ones.

But then, like, this is a government program. I think we’ve honestly spent enough on these blacks. I would be okay if the blacks had to pay for the anti-drowning program with some of their food stamps, but if they’re just getting free anti-drowning lessons, I don’t really see an argument as to how this is a good use of taxpayer funds.

Probably a better use of funds would be shooting lessons for the blacks, so when drug dealers shoot at other drug dealers they kill the other drug dealer instead of random children on the sidewalk.

But then I see the photos and I’m like “well, this seems joyful.”

A famous church that once hosted Al Capone’s wedding, along with 20 other sites near Brooklyn’s toxic Gowanus Canal, are in need of one hell of a clean-up after testing positive for dangerously unsafe air, The Post has learned.

The state Department of Environmental Conservation in late April uncovered cancer-causing vapors seeping from polluted soil into the basement and rectory of St. Mary Star of the Sea Church in Carroll Gardens.

“This is coming from God knows where,” sighed the church’s pastor, Monsignor Guy Massie. “We’re doing the best we can right now, but this has been a big shock.”

There was one saving grace: The air in the 173-year-old house of worship where mass is held — and where the Brooklyn-born Capone married his wife Mae in 1918 before moving on to rule Chicago’s gangland — came back clean. So did test results for the private school next door that rents space from the church.

The state in September quietly been investigating roughly 100 blocks in and around the canal – where thousands of people live and work — to determine how many properties are contaminated, The Post reported last week.

On Thursday, the agency confirmed it’s tested 131 of the 626 properties it’s targeted during the ongoing first phase — and 21 had air levels of hazardous chemicals above “acceptable” levels.

The DEC refused to identify the sites that tested positive or release toxicity results, but the Court Street church was identified in a letter sent Tuesday to parents of students at the International School of Brooklyn.

Today, one of these celebrations is being held to coincide with Pride month at Jacob Riis Beach in New York, a location deeply ensconced in the city’s activism space.

“We’re going through something culturally that is impacting us every day on an individual level and a systemic level,” said Jordan Underwood, the event organizer. “We’re really trying to open up a space for people to be themselves.”

Underwood, a plus-size model, artist and activist, described being bullied for their weight as far back as middle school. Consistent hate, cruelty and harmful rhetoric from fellow students led to them setting up a blog at 12 years old, which became a place where they documented their experiences and made sense of what they were going through. In many ways, this marked the beginning of their journey into what they denote as “fat activism”.

Now, they organize events throughout New York City and work with Berriez, a vintage store “curated for curves” based in Brooklyn, to organize Fat Beach Day.

There may be rain, but the pair aren’t bothered. The day – featuring food, drinks and free sunscreen from Vacation – is something they’ve been looking forward to and planning for months.

“I’m so self-conscious at the beach, and I’m never around people that look like me,” said Emma Zack, who started Berriez in 2018. “I’m so excited we’ve created this space for other folks with bigger bodies to have a good time.”

In an era in which weight-loss drugs like Ozempic are deeply ingrained in mainstream diet culture, and thinness is resurgent as the ideal beauty standard, events like Fat Beach Day are becoming powerful tools in the fight against these norms. They have become not just events but calls to action – public stands against the societal pressures to conform to these shifting criteria.

The Constitution obviously prohibits both the government and private entities from releasing poisonous chemicals onto other people’s property, or into public areas. The state is quietly investigating roughly 100 blocks in and around Brooklyn’s toxic Gowanus Canal to determine how many are contaminated with cancer-causing vapors and other hazardous substances, The Post has learned.

The state Department of Environmental Conservation began its probe in September following public outcry over reports it waited nearly two years to alert the public that cancer-causing vapors nearly 22 times the amount considered safe escaped from polluted soil and into a popular shuffleboard club.

Records show recent air-quality tests inside the Royal Palms Shuffleboard Club on Union Street have since come back as “safe” once steps were taken to reduce harmful fumes by venting underground contaminants — but many other properties in the testing area, where thousands of people live and work, continue to show high traces of toxicity.

One building, which DEC refused to publicly identify, had air levels of the chemical trichloroethylene, or “TCE” — an industrial solvent linked to cancer, Parkinson’s disease and other ailments — 450 times above acceptable levels, according to tests taken last year.

Similar tests conducted in 2023 at 543 Union St., a massive 19th Century-era building occupied by 22 businesses, also found TCE fumes on site dozens of times, including one reading 255 times above “safe” levels.”

Many other neighborhood buildings are former manufacturing sites that saturated soil with toxic coal tar.

Over the past century, much of the coal tar – dubbed “black mayonnaise” by longtime residents — also seeped into the canal, which is one of the nation’s most polluted waterways and undergoing a massive federal Superfund cleanup.

DEC Interim Commissioner Sean Maher insisted his agency is committed to working with Gowanus-area property owners to get buildings tested and then “mitigate” any potential contaminants.

“We are all in on this community,” Maher told The Post. “We’re doing a lot of really important work and are really excited about the progress we are making.”

However, residents said they’re disgusted with the DEC’s and other government agencies’ lack of transparency — and terrified for their own health.

“This should be about cancer prevention and making sure people aren’t breathing in this stuff and getting sick,” fumed Seth Hillinger of the advocacy group Voice of Gowanus.

“[But] the state is doing just the opposite of what they should be doing to get the word out. There’s no signage anywhere — no warnings” telling the public a building tested toxic.

But how can this be?

A controversial bill being pushed by lefty legislators in Albany is trying to make the Empire State less “white,” critics say.

The legislation, sponsored by Assemblywoman Jessica González-Rojas (D-Queens) and Sen. Michael Gianaris (D-Queens), would mandate state agencies and other entities use separate categories for Middle Eastern and North African (MENA) New Yorkers when collecting demographics data – rather than relying on the US Census, which classifies them under one “white” umbrella.

The state Senate on Thursday voted unanimously to pass it, but González-Rojas’ version of the bill is still facing pushback in the Assembly.

Both pols argue “MENA” individuals don’t benefit from so-called “white privilege” – and instead face discrimination daily by falsely being associated with the 9/11 terror attacks.

They and other supporters also insist the current system shuts MENA individuals out of qualifying for minority-owned business grants, language programs and other critical government aid and services by labeling them white.

“This bill isn’t anti-white – it’s pro-MENA,” González-Rojas told The Post. “Data is power. It will give elected representatives and state agencies and institutions the tools to better understand the unique and diverse needs of all New Yorkers.”

The bill covers people of Egyptian, Moroccan, Libyan and other North African descent, as well as those of Iranian, Palestinian, Israeli, Lebanese and other Middle Eastern descent.

New York City is home to some of the largest Middle Eastern and North African communities in the nation, including the “Little Egypt” enclave in Astoria, which Gianaris and González-Rojas represent.

Their legislation is gaining steam in Albany while the Biden administration is in the process of adding a “Middle Eastern or North African” identifier to official documents like the US Census, picking up a plan first proposed by former President Barack Obama but tabled by his successor Donald Trump.

González-Rojas said the state can’t wait for the next Census in 2030 for MENA individuals to be fairly counted.

It’s so funny that the media is able to keep talking about “white privilege” while all companies have stopped hiring white men and Arabs are trying to remove the title of “white” from their classification because it restricts their ability to do basically anything.

Daquan Armstead, 31, told police that he preferred not to pick on men, Manhattan prosecutors said Wednesday as the accused slugger was arraigned on assault charges and ordered held on $20,000 bail.
