If you’re not French, you probably forgot that someone burned down one of the most iconic churches in Europe. But someone did burn it down, more than five years ago. We never found out who burned it down, and it was ruled to be a spontaneous combustion.

Now, after all this time, they’ve finally rebuilt it.

I must say, it looks very nice and there is no evidence of anything gay.

AP:

After more than five years of frenetic, but sometimes interrupted, reconstruction work, Notre Dame Cathedral showed itself anew to the world Friday, with rebuilt soaring ceilings and creamy good-as-new stonework erasing somber memories of its devastating fire in 2019.

Images broadcast live of a site visit by French President Emmanuel Macron showed the inside of the iconic cathedral as worshippers might have experienced it in previous centuries, its wide, open spaces filled with bright light on a crisp and sunny winter’s day that lit up the vibrant colors of the stained glass windows.

Outside, the monument is still a construction site, with scaffolding and cranes. But the renovated interior — shown in its full glory Friday for the first time before the public is allowed back in on Dec. 8 — proved to be breathtaking.

Gone are the gaping holes that the blaze tore into the vaulted ceilings, leaving charred piles of debris. New stonework has been carefully pieced together to repair and fill the wounds that had left the cathedral’s insides exposed to the elements. Delicate golden angels look on from the centerpiece of one of the rebuilt ceilings, seeming to fly again above the transept.

The cathedral’s bright, cream-colored limestone walls look brand new, cleaned not only of dust from the fire but also of grime that had accumulated for centuries.

The cathedral attracted millions of worshippers and visitors annually before the April 15, 2019, fire forced its closure and turned the monument in the heart of Paris into a no-go zone except to artisans, architects and others mobilized for the reconstruction.

I must say, I’m impressed.

You’d expect modern gay France to just leave the Church to rot.

For the record, France is not really as gay as most of the rest of Western Europe.

They might even be less gay than Ireland at this point.

Good on them.

France: Macron’s Senile Granny Wife Wanted to Build Giant Golden Dick in Front of Notre Dame https://www.anglinarchive.com/2023/01/09/france-macrons-senlie-granny-wife-wanted-to-build-giant-golden-dick-in-front-of-notre-dame/ Mon, 09 Jan 2023 00:00:00 +0000

The people running the world are not at all normal.

Even the ones who are not Jewish are just totally weird freaks.

Breitbart:

The French government wanted a modernist redesign of Notre-Dame, according to its former culture minister, with President Macron’s wife pitching a new spire resembling male genitalia.

Roselyne Bachelot-Narquin, who served as Minister for Culture under Prime Minister Jean Castex and, by extension, President Emmanuel Macron from 2020 to 2022, claims in her autobiography that the government wanted to make some sort of modernist statement in the rebuild of the fire-damaged 800-year-old cathedral, The Times reports.

“When I got back to the ministry, the office was in a state of stress: the Élysée Palace was dreaming of an ‘architectural gesture’ and was accusing me of just doing what I please,” she wrote, referring to the French president’s official residence.

Bachelot, who appears to have been insistent on as faithful a reconstruction of the Catholic cathedral as possible, said she did “not regret this insubordination” after Brigitte Macron, the French president’s controversial wife, showed her a proposed design “topped with a sort of erect phallus with its base surrounded with golden balls” at a meeting.

With much of the global architecture establishment actively hostile to building in traditional styles, decrying this as “pastiche” and insisting all new buildings must appear “contemporary”, there was a concerted effort to try and foist modernist aesthetics on Notre-Dame as the restoration of its damaged exterior and destroyed spire was discussed in the wake of the 2019 fire.

Architects proposed despoiling the cathedral with such features as a glass roof, a steel spire, or even a minaret — a tribute to Muslim Algerians in the country — in the wake of the blaze.

The allegedly conservative Telegraph newspaper in the United Kingdom published an article saying “it would be a travesty to rebuild a badly damaged Notre Dame as a facsimile of the original” instead of pursuing “bold and uncompromising modernity”, while a Harvard professor in America went so far as to say the destruction of a Christian building “so overburdened with meaning… feels like an act of liberation“.

…

The building’s interior may not be safe, however, with leaked plans for a Disneyland-style woke reimagining of the cathedral emphasising diversity and climate change causing controversy towards the end of 2021.

Of course, normal people won’t oppose this stuff.

You always think they will at some point, but they never do.

Notre Dame: There’s a “50% Chance” of Losing the Structure https://www.anglinarchive.com/2019/12/27/notre-dame-theres-a-50-chance-of-losing-the-structure/ Fri, 27 Dec 2019 00:00:00 +0000 Pomidor Quixote

After the fire from earlier this year, Notre Dame was unable to hold Christmas Eve Mass for the first time since the French Revolution.

Now the cathedral’s rector is saying that there’s a 50% chance of losing the structure.

Breitbart:

The rector of Notre Dame Cathedral says the Paris landmark is still so fragile that there’s a “50% chance” the structure might not be saved, because scaffolding installed before this year’s fire is threatening the vaults of the Gothic monument.

Monsignor Patrick Chauvet said restoration work isn’t likely to begin until 2021 — and described his “heartache” that Notre Dame couldn’t hold Christmas services this year, for the first time since the French Revolution.

“Today it is not out of danger,” he told The Associated Press on the sidelines of Christmas Eve midnight Mass in a nearby church. “It will be out of danger when we take out the remaining scaffolding.”

“Today we can say that there is maybe a 50% chance that it will be saved. There is also 50% chance of scaffolding falling onto the three vaults, so as you can see the building is still very fragile,” he said.

The 12th-century cathedral was under renovation at the time of the accidental April fire, which destroyed its roof and collapsed its spire. With no more roof to keep the massive stone structure stable, the cathedral’s surviving vaults are crucial to keeping it standing, but they are vulnerable.

Some 50,000 tubes of scaffolding crisscrossed the back of the edifice at the time of the fire, and some were damaged. Removing them without causing further problems is one of the toughest parts of the cleanup effort.

“We need to remove completely the scaffolding in order to make the building safe, so in 2021 we will probably start the restoration of the cathedral,” Chauvet said. “Once the scaffolding is removed we need to assess the state of the cathedral, the quantity of stones to be removed and replaced.”

Chauvet estimated it would take another three years after that to make it safe enough for people to re-enter the cathedral, but that the full restoration will take longer. President Emmanuel Macron has said he wants it rebuilt by 2024, when Paris hosts the Olympics, but experts have questioned whether that time frame is realistic.

Another reason it’s still too dangerous to host religious services inside Notre Dame: The fire released tons of toxic lead dust, and authorities are working to clean it up and assess related health risks.

Lead dust isn’t just a threat inside Notre Dame. In September, the surrounding areas — including daycare centers, preschools, and primary schools — were reported to have levels of lead dust way above what’s considered safe.

The burning of Notre Dame didn’t just hurt the soul of the French people — it also hurt their physical and mental health.

Although the fire has stopped, the nightmare hasn’t ended.

Even if the restoration efforts succeed, as long as France allows the real French people to be replaced by primitive-skinned humanoids, Notre Dame and the real people of France will never be safe.

Thousands of Children Exposed to “Alarming Levels” of Lead from Notre Dame Fire, Officials Were Afraid to Alert People https://www.anglinarchive.com/2019/09/17/thousands-of-children-exposed-to-alarming-levels-of-lead-from-notre-dame-fire-officials-were-afraid-to-alert-people/ Tue, 17 Sep 2019 00:00:00 +0000 Pomidor Quixote

Remember when Notre Dame burned?

This burning caused even more harm than previously thought.

Daily Mail:

More than 6,000 children under the age of six were exposed to alarming levels of lead dust after a mammoth blaze struck the Notre Dame cathedral in April, a new report has claimed.

An investigation by the New York Times found that ‘dangerous dust’ was scattered across the streets of Paris when flames engulfed 460 tons of lead on the roof and spire of the Gothic cathedral.

The report, which drew on confidential documents, police reports, and lead measurements by the Culture Ministry, revealed French authorities ‘had indications’ that lead exposure could pose a problem 48 hours after the fire – but it was a month before city officials ordered testing.

‘The state was afraid to make people afraid,’ Anne Souyris, the city’s deputy mayor in charge of health, told the paper. ‘They thought that they would protect people by not communicating about the lead issue‘.

Translation: the state was afraid that the real French would shake off their passivity and start killing the invaders that most likely set fire to Notre Dame.

These “New French” were laughing while it happened.

The “people” France wants to protect.

No need to be a bigoted racist to put two and two together, so it’s better to stop talking about the fire and its consequences and pretend everything’s in the past now.

Tests showed at least 18 day care centers, preschools and primary schools had levels of lead dust above the country’s standard for buildings hosting children.

In dozens of other public spaces, including parks and plazas, lead levels were found to be more than 60 times above the French safety guideline of 93 micrograms per square foot.

Confidential documents obtained by the publication also revealed that the levels of lead dust deposited around the cathedral were up to 1,300 times higher than these guidelines.

More than 6,000 children under the age of six lived within half a mile of areas where alarming levels of toxic dust were discovered, and the city’s health officials are yet to complete testing on every school in the proximity of the cathedral, the report claimed.

It has also been alleged that French authorities failed to ‘clean the entire area in the immediate aftermath of the fire’ and ‘waited four months to to finish a full decontamination of the neighbourhood’.

This posed a particular problem for restoration workers, with work only stopping at the cathedral in July after ‘seven alarming letters, dozens of emails and a series of heated meetings’.

On the plaza, workers were exposed to levels of lead dust 1,300 higher than French safety guidelines. Outside the construction site, levels were 955 times the standard.

‘It’s almost a no-brainer that if you incinerate hundreds of tons of lead, you’re going to have some significant deposition of particles in the neighborhood,’ said Matthew J. Chachère of the New York City Coalition to End Lead Poisoning.

To put the severity of this into perspective, consider the consequences of lead poisoning.

MedlinePlus on lead poisoning:

Lead is a very strong poison. When a person swallows an object that has lead or breathes in lead dust, some of the poison can stay in the body and cause serious health problems.

…

There are many possible symptoms of lead poisoning. Lead can affect many different parts of the body. A single high dose of lead can cause severe emergency symptoms.

However, it is more common for lead poisoning to build up slowly over time. This occurs from repeated exposure to small amounts of lead. In this case, there may not be any obvious symptoms. Over time, even low levels of lead exposure can harm a child’s mental development. The health problems get worse as the level of lead in the blood gets higher.

Lead is much more harmful to children than adults because it can affect children’s developing nerves and brains. The younger the child, the more harmful lead can be. Unborn children are the most vulnerable.

…

Very high levels of lead may cause vomiting, internal bleeding, staggering walk, muscle weakness, seizures, or coma.

…

Adults who have had mildly high lead levels often recover without problems. In children, even mild lead poisoning can have a permanent impact on attention and IQ.

People with higher lead levels have a greater risk of long-lasting health problems. They must be followed carefully.

Their nerves and muscles can be greatly affected and may no longer function as well as they should. Other body systems may be harmed to various degrees, such as the kidneys and blood vessels. People who survive toxic lead levels may have some permanent brain damage. Children are more vulnerable to serious long-term problems.

A complete recovery from chronic lead poisoning may take months to years.

Sounds terrible. Let’s just not talk about it and forget Notre Dame burned.

In fact, let’s just forget about Notre Dame and build some football stadium or something in its place. There is no room for the history of whites in a world trying to rid itself of whites.

You never had a country. You never had a family. You never had grandparents and you most definitely never had a history because you simply don’t really exist.

You are a social construct inhabiting a Country of Ideals, and ideals come in many different, diverse colors.

Great Idea: Let’s Turn Notre Dame Into a Repulsive Secular Monument to Environmentalism https://www.anglinarchive.com/2019/05/10/great-idea-lets-turn-notre-dame-into-a-repulsive-secular-monument-to-environmentalism/ Fri, 10 May 2019 00:00:00 +0000 Andrew Anglin

The question on everyone’s mind after the fire in the 800-year-old Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris is: why not rebuild it as a “monument to our times” with a glass roof and something to with environmentalism or whatever?

Christians have yet to come up with a reason why this shouldn’t be done, so probably they’re going to go ahead and do it because fuck Christianity amirite?

Like, what with the patriarchy and the Crusades and the Holocaust and so on and so forth, Christian churches really are nothing more than monuments to white supremacy, so they should basically all just be replaced with ecogardens or whatever.

RT:

Top French design bureau Vincent Callebaut Architectures has gone viral with its plans to replace the roof of the medieval cathedral with a glass shell filled with solar panels.

Underneath will be a “sustainable” farm capable of producing 21 tons of fruit and vegetables each year, to be given out for free to the homeless. Not coincidentally perhaps, this is at least the third eco-garden proposal that has been made public, while the vast majority of the submitted designs for the planned reconstruction feature a glass roof.

One can picture the unquestioning thought processes percolating through these architectural firms: how can we keep the idea of a church being a beneficial public space alive, while updating it to the present day? What could be more positive than green energy?

There is one thing: restoring Notre Dame as a cathedral space. One understands that these designers are secular in their worldview even if nominally religious, but why do they so blithely assume that they can take a building away from the Catholics who have maintained it continuously for 800 years, without even asking them, and turn it into something more to their liking? Esoteric as it may be, a cathedral has a function that is spiritual – it should facilitate communion with God – and having a vegetable patch may dilute this purpose. Environmentalism, quasi-religious as it is, does not equal bona fide Christianity.

That may well have been true in 2015 or a couple months ago or whatever, but people have changed with the times.

No, people have woken up to the threat of Christianity and its links to whiteness, white privilege and white supremacy. So it’s basically time to just start bulldozing churches and replacing them with dilation stations and mosques and other less offensive things.

But the least you can do is take a church that is already burned – totally by accident, we assure you – and replace it with some disgustingly ugly steel and glass monstrosity that represents global warming or something.

Anyone who is against this plan might as well be arrested and thrown in prison for promoting white supremacy.

We have to move forward into the future, and the time is now.
