Evil James Dunleavy beheaded his mother in an “honour killing” as he believed she had shamed the family, a former friend claims.

Irishman Dunleavy, 40 – a Muslim convert – was last week found guilty of killing 66-year-old Philomena, cutting up her body and burying her in a shallow grave.

He was ordered to be detained in the State Hospital at Carstairs before he returns to court for sentencing in April.

It has now emerged that Dunleavy may have misinterpreted the Koran and slaughtered his mother in an honour killing after she split from his dad.

Mohammed Razaq, who ran the shop below Dunleavy’s Edinburgh flat, befriended him after he moved to Scotland and helped him convert to Islam.

Razaq believes the killer felt his mother had betrayed the family by leaving his
dad and going to live with another man. He said: “It’s a tragic event, I feel
gutted.

“I wish it had never happened and I feel sorry for James for carrying out such a heinous crime.

“I think it was an honour killing, he was trying to protect his family’s honour.”

A source added: “James was pretty obsessed when it came to religion.

“He was brought up a Catholic but just decided one day he would convert to Islam.

“He was very, very serious about it and cared a lot about it. His faith was very
important to him and he prayed five times a day.

“I can’t say if he killed his mum because he converted, but he believed very strongly in the morals of the Koran and was furious about his mum leaving his dad for someone else.

“He saw it as adultery and they had a massive argument about it.”

Dunleavy had denied murdering his mum at his home between April 30 and May 7 last year.

Her dismembered remains were discovered by a cyclist on nearby Corstorphine Hill on June 6 last year.

A jury at the High Court in Edinburgh found Dunleavy guilty of the lesser charge of culpable homicide on the grounds of diminished responsibility on Friday.

One day after two Islamic extremists were found guilty of the bestial murder of Fusilier Lee Rigby, the BBC thought fit to interview the ‘hate preacher’ who had inspired both of them. At the very least it seems a crass piece of timing, and I’m not surprised that many people have complained.

But the appearance of Anjem Choudary on Radio 4’s Today programme yesterday morning did serve to remind us of how pernicious and destructive this man really is. Pressed again and again by presenter John Humphrys, he declined to condemn Lee Rigby’s murder, taking refuge in the barely legal formula that he would not do so while British soldiers were killing innocent Muslims in Afghanistan.

Most people, including many Muslims, will have drawn the conclusion that Choudary has again revealed himself as being beyond the pale of civilisation. He doesn’t have the decency or humanity to say he is sorry that Lee Rigby was hacked to death by Michael Adebolajo and Michael Adebowale.

Though Choudary was careful not to let slip anything that would incriminate him with the law, he managed to incriminate himself at the bar of public opinion by declaring that he doesn’t believe in democracy. Even the thugs in the British National Party would not admit that.

Choudary believes in sharia law, which is supposedly handed down by Allah, and should be imposed on Muslims and non-Muslims alike. In his twisted moral universe, only preachers like himself can interpret Allah. That would give them power to do whatever they liked.

This is fascism. No, it is worse, since at least fascism pretends to reflect the will of the people. Choudary and other Islamist extremists can do what they want because they think they know the will of God. That is exactly what Adebolajo and Adebowale claimed at their trial at the Old Bailey. They had murdered Lee Rigby in Allah’s name.

Such beliefs seem so idiotic, so utterly wicked in fact, that normal minds will struggle to understand what attraction they could possibly have. It seems incredible that a man like Choudary could appeal to any young people in modern Britain.

But he has, of course. Michael Adebolajo first met Choudary in 2005, who with Omar Bakri Mohammed (the so-called ‘Tottenham Ayatollah’) was one of the leaders of the now banned extremist group Al-Muhajiroun.

Bakri, who is no longer resident in Britain, and therefore freer to speak his mind, told BBC One’s Panorama on Thursday night that he was ‘proud’ of what Adebolajo had done.

Choudary was also known to Michael Adebowale. New video footage of a demonstration outside St Paul’s Cathedral last Christmas Eve shows Adebowale claiming that Islam will take over the world even if people hate the religion, with Anjem Choudary also present.

Given what he has done, it remains mystifying that Choudary has escaped prosecution. As a British citizen he can’t be deported, but are the police really correct when they say he hasn’t broken the law?

What is clear is that his message is seized on by many more disaffected young people than the two young men who ended up at the Old Bailey. The authorities warn that we should expect future attacks, and that not every plot can be thwarted. I am afraid we must brace ourselves for further outrages.

The great unanswered question is why Michael Adebolajo and Michael Adebowale, who were born into decent Christian families, should have acted so barbarously. We must try to understand the reasons for their behaviour.

And here I am going to say something which some people may find hard to accept. There are aspects of recent British and U.S. foreign policy which make the response of young Muslim militants explicable, though not at all defensible.

Look, for example, at America’s appalling record at Guantanamo Bay, where suspected Muslim terrorists, including nine British citizens, have been held without trial since 2002, and in some cases still are. The absence of proper legal procedure has been a shameful betrayal of our values.

Moreover, there is plenty of evidence from the International Red Cross and other reputable organisations that torture was carried out at Guantanamo on a vast scale. Methods of torture included chaining prisoners, beating them, depriving them of food and water, and exposing them to loud noise or extreme temperatures.

Even as I write these words, I find it difficult to believe that these things have been done in our name — or at any rate that of the United States — in recent years.

I am ashamed to say that they have. The terrible truth is that we have sometimes let ourselves sink almost to the inhuman level of the terrorists who want to destroy our civilisation and against whom we went to war.

A group of three Muslims, one of them a goofy-looking ginger Muslim convert with the funniest ever beard, have been jailed for enforcing Sharia law in East London.

Renegade street Muslims attacking people and claiming that the country is under Islamic rule have been a serious problem in Britain for a long time now.  But this doesn’t matter, because Islam is a religion of peace, and if you doubt that, you will need to go to prison with these vigilantes.

Just a note on White conversion to Islam:

Muslims have certain positive traits which have been stripped from the Western male.  Islam is patriarchal, and it endorses violence as a way of solving problems.  It also prescribes a methodology by which to archive order in one’s personal life.  Then there is also a vague spiritual aspect to it.  Given the present cultural, moral and spiritual vacuum in the West, it is hardly surprising that a certain number of Whites are converting.  These are likely the same boys who would be converting to a hardline nationalist position, if such an option was made available to them.

Three members of a so-called ‘Muslim Patrol’ were today jailed at the Old Bailey for repeatedly trying to enforce Sharia law in East London.

Jordan Horner and another Islamic extremist told one couple they could not hold hands while walking down the street, because it was in a ‘Muslim area’.

The radicals also attacked a group of men drinking in the road, and told a woman she would face ‘hell fire’ because of the way she was dressed.

Horner, 19, Ricardo MacFarlane, 36, and a 23-year-old man who cannot be named for legal reasons were sentenced to 68 weeks, 12 months and 24 weeks in prison respectively.

The court earlier heard that last December Horner and the 23-year-old man drove alongside Joshua Bilton and Anna Reddiford in Bethnal Green, and started yelling at them through a megaphone.

The teenage convert shouted: ‘Let go of each other’s hands. This is a Muslim area!’ – but the couple initially assumed it was a joke.

They stopped holding hands after the men repeated the message – and when they started again, the car blocked their way until they let go.

Two weeks later, Horner and MacFarlane attacked men drinking in Shoreditch, shouting: ‘Kill the non-believers.’

Horner then punched two of the group, hitting James Forward in the jaw and knocking out Patrick Kavanagh with a sucker punch to the head.

On January 13, Horner and the 23-year-old harassed another couple, Clare Coyle and Robert Gray, as they were walking in Stepney – accusing Miss Coyle of being a ‘slag’.

In an exchange filmed on Horner’s phone, she replied, ‘This is Great Britain. I can dress how I wish,’ while the group shouted: ‘Remove yourselves now. Muslim Patrol. Move away from the mosque.’

Horner, an associate of hate preacher Anjem Choudary who has declared he wants to bring Sharia law to Britain, pleaded guilty to two charges of assault and two charges of using threatening words and behaviour.

He was jailed earlier this year for beating up a photographer, and has been seen putting up posters across East London ‘banning’ alcohol.

MacFarlane, who pleaded guilty to affray, has previous convictions for criminal damage for painting over advertisements of women in the street.

The 23 year-old admitted two counts of using threatening words and behaviour.

Prosecutor Alex Chalk told the court: ‘This is a case about religious vigilantism. These men were members of a self-styled Muslim Patrol who threatened, intimidated and even assaulted members of the public who they perceived to be behaving in an un-Islamic manner.

‘The men accosted members of the public in neighbourhoods of East London which they claimed were Muslim areas, and where according to them different law applied.’

Incarcerated in Fresnes (Val-de-Marne), a prisoner was subjected to pressure and threats from a radical Islamist fellow prisoner before securing a change of cell.

Religion was his ordeal. Four months after the facts, Antoine (name changed) can hardly speak of the 72 days of detention in which he was subjected to death threats and intimidation from fellow prisoners who wanted to convert him to Islam by force, which for them equivalent to salvation.

His story starts at the end of May when the young man was sentenced to 5 years in prison for a rape he has always denied.

After the verdict, Antoine was incarcerated in the prison in Fresnes (Val-de-Marne), in the area for new arrivals. After a week, he was transferred to a cell of 9 square metres, where two fellow prisoners awaited him. “I started talking to the first but the second, who had a long beard, acted as if I wasn’t there,” says Antoine. An indifference of short duration. When he came back from his walk, the silent one spoke to Antoine.

“He asked me why I was there and, above all, if I was a believer,” he recalls. I replied that I was a Catholic but not very active in practice. He immediately replied saying this was an error, “because the only religion worthy of the name was Islam.” He showed several religious works and urged his fellow prisoner to “forget everything he learned outside the walls, because his only salvation would come from conversion to the Muslim religion.” In order to pacify the situation, Antoine agreed to read one of the books.

Three days later, he asked to speak with one of the prison psychologists. “She tried to prevaricate, telling me that things would go back to normal and that if I asked to be moved, there was a risk that I would meet people who were even more violent,” he recalls.

After a week, the young man went out on a walk for the first time. “Five people, including my fellow prisoner, surrounded me in a corner of the yard and threatened me, explaining me that I had better read the books and convert rapidly.”

Panic-stricken, Antoine alerted his lawyer and the prison officials. “In the course of the next few days, they were yelling my surname in the passageways, calling me a grass and saying I would go to hell. I begged to be transferred to the cooler because I knew it was the only place I would be safe,” he continues. “But I stayed in the same cell. I was terrorised more and more. One evening my cell mate spoke to me about Jews and offered some antisemitic insults. I told him that, personally, I had nothing against this religion. That made him go into a black rage.”

The next day, he would pay for his remarks. “In the early evening, one of the guards let a prisoner from one of the neighbouring cells into my cell with a 20 cm blade in his hand,” he says. The guard, who is currently subject to an administrative inquiry, left, slamming the door. For about twenty minutes, the young man confronted his cell mate and his accomplice, alone: “They warned me: ‘If you don’t convert, you’re a dead man’.”

Told by Antoine about these new threats — corroborated by other prisoner testimony – the prison management decided to move him to another cell, under a false name to avoid reprisals. At the same time, a search of his former cell was organised. Along with mobile phones and SIM cards, the guards discovered several books, including one: “How to convert a non-Muslim.”

Antoine, however, continued to suffer. A few days later, he was kicked and punched by several fellow prisoners in a passageway. The day after, seven people suspected of aggressive proselytism, including his cell mate, were identified with the help of agents from the prison information service. They were moved to other prisons. Antoine was freed in mid-September.
