Iraqi MPs and women’s rights groups have reacted with horror to the Iraqi parliament passing a law permitting children as young as nine years old to marry, with activists saying it will “legalise child rape”.

Under the new law, which was agreed yesterday, religious authorities have been given the power to decide on family affairs, including marriage, divorce and the care of children. It abolishes a previous ban on the marriage of children under the age of 18 in place since the 1950s.

“We have reached the end of women’s rights and the end of children’s rights in Iraq,” said the lawyer Mohammed Juma, one of the most prominent opponents of the law.

The Iraqi journalist Saja Hashim said: “The fact that clerics have the upper hand in deciding the fate of women is terrifying. I fear everything that will come in my life as a woman.”

Activists said they feared the law would now also be applied retroactively to cases filed in courts before it was enacted, affecting rights to alimony and custody.

Raya Faiq, spokesperson for the feminist group Coalition 188, said: “We received an audio recording of a woman crying her eyes out because of the passage of this law, with her husband threatening to take her daughter away unless she gives up her rights to financial support.”

Child marriage has been a longstanding issue in Iraq, where 28% of girls were married before they turned 18, a 2023 UN survey found.

While marriage is presented to some underage girls as a chance to escape poverty, many of the marriages end in failure, bringing lifelong consequences for young women, including social shame and a lack of opportunities because of unfinished schooling.

Instead of tightening laws against underage marriage and helping girls from poorer backgrounds to complete their education, the new law allows the marriage of minors according to the religious sect under which the marriage contract is concluded.

For Shia Muslims, which make up the majority in Iraq, the lowest age of marriage for girls will be nine years old, while for Sunnis, the official age will be 15.

A convicted terrorist is taking a pub to court after he claimed to be deeply offended by the sign outside the venue.

Khalid Baqa, who has previously spent four years behind bars for preparing Jihadi propaganda, wants more than £1,000 from the Saracen’s Head Inn in Chesham, Buckinghamshire.

He has criticised what he described as the racist ‘depiction of a bearded Arab/Turk’ on the pub’s sign and also insisted the depiction ‘incites violence’.

Really, haj?

Baqa has asked for £1,850 from the landlord and has also announced plans for take on over 30 other pubs with the same name if successful.

However, the landlord of the pub is fighting back against the lawsuit which he has slammed as a ‘complete joke.’

Speaking to The Sun, Robbie Hayes said: ‘This has been called The Saracen’s Head for 500 years.

‘He’s just chancing his hand. Of course it worries me – you never know with people like this.’

The 52-year-old added that none of his pubgoers are racist and that he did not believe the sign or the name were racist but instead were ‘simply historic’.

This guy is simply a more grotesque version of the thing he says is an offensive stereotype.

It seems more reasonable that he would be proud that the British respect his people’s warrior prowess (which he personally does not appear to embody).

Who invited this man to the UK?

Baqa has filed a ‘claim of money’ form an application to county court for a sum of cash a person believes they are owed.

His application was previously referred to a small claims court.

In a submission explaining the reason behind his claim, Baqa said the sign – which depicts a brown-skinned man of Arab or Turkish descent – ‘instilled worry and fear in me since it was clearly xenophobic, racist and inciting violence to certain people.’

He goes on to claim to have contacted the pub four times and even visited the public house in person. However staff at the Saracen’s Head Inn have no record.

In 2018, Baqa was jailed for four years and eight months after admitting five counts of dissemination of Terrorist publications.

It is among the most popular name for a pub in the UK alongside titles such as the Red Lion.

An invitation by a mosque in Germany for girls as young as thirteen to take part in a “preparatory marriage course,” has sparked a huge backlash, with centre-right and right-wing parties demanding an explanation.

The invitation was sent out by a mosque in the western city of Mannheim for an event entitled “Girls’ Evenings in the Mosque.” This is part of a series of seminars whose aim is to prepare “girls and women from the age of 13” for marriage. The flyer includes a quote by 10th-century Islamic scholar Al-Tabarani, according to which: “He who marries has completed half of his faith.”

Daily tabloid Bild furiously commented:”A course that is openly intended to prepare children for marriage. And all this in the middle of Germany!”

The centre-right CDU party wants an investigation by the city council, saying that “marriage from the age of 13 has no place in Germany!”

Some conservative Islamic scholars argue that Islamic law permits child marriage, as the Quran specifies that girls can be married upon reaching maturity, which conservative scholars define as puberty.

As Bild reports, the mosque, the Omar Al-Faruq Centre, is located in the Neckarstadt-West district, which has one of the highest proportions of citizens with a migration background.

The centre said that the the aim of the seminars “is to strengthen the self-confidence of the participants and to discuss topics such as education, self-determination, sexuality and equal partnerships openly and critically.” They apologised for the invitation which they say was misleading, and stressed that they have never allowed for child marriages to take place in the mosque.

The Omar Al-Faruq Centre was monitored by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution (BfV), Germany’s domestic intelligence agency following the arrest of a member of the centre in 2017 in Iraq. The man had fought for the Islamic State terrorist organisation, and the imam of the mosque had been known for spreading radical salafist ideology. The mosque says it has since distanced itself from extremist ideology, and the BfV confirmed they are no longer monitoring the centre.

German right-wingers complaining about this is a complete outrage.

Two Washington parents are facing criminal charges, including attempted kidnapping, assault, and attempted murder, during what is being called an attempted “honor killing” of their daughter outside a high school.

According to court documents, on October 18 outside of Timberline High School in Lacey, Washington, the girl’s parents, Ihsan and Zahraa Ali, were both arrested after the 17-year-old victim told law enforcement that her father had been threatening to kill her in an “honor killing” after she refused to go to another country for an arranged marriage to an older man.

Can you imagine calling the cops on your own father?

The daughter, who was not identified, went to school for help and witnesses saw the father had his daughter in a chokehold. Bystanders stepped in to break up the fight which they thought was among teenagers and realized it was the girl’s father Ihsan Ali choking his 17-year-old daughter “to the point where she had lost consciousness.”

The girl told police the father was saying as he was choking her, “It’s not right … you are not supposed to do this,” before she blacked out.

He is actually supposed to do that. That’s the number one thing a father is supposed to do.

Bystanders, other students, and the girl’s boyfriend attempted to pull her away. The girl’s mother, Zahraa Ali, was also choking the daughter and the girl’s father punched the boyfriend in the face.

A witness, Josh Wagner, told KOMO News he stepped in to break up what he thought was a fight between teens and saw the dad holding his daughter in a chokehold. Wagner said he was able to get the girl loose and hold the father down until police arrived.

Once free, the girl ran into the school screaming, “My dad was trying to kill me, he was trying to kill me,” which triggered a lockdown and stopped the parents from being able to get to their daughter again.

The Minister of Interior for the National Unity Government, Imed Trabelsi, has called for the enforcement of the “country’s traditions,” including mandatory hijab wearing.

The controversy continues a week after the announcement. On November 6, Minister of Interior Imed Trabelsi, representing the Tripoli-based authority (west), held a press conference stating that he would now prevent “inappropriate” hairstyles and clothing deemed too loose among the youth.

He also aims to ban gender mixing in public spaces and impose the hijab on women, including girls as young as nine years. “Those who seek individual freedoms should go to Europe,” he said.

Concerned, Amnesty International takes this project very seriously. Bassam Al Kantar, who monitors the country, denounces a “dangerous escalation in the already suffocating levels of repression facing those in Libya not adhering to dominant social norms.” The project “also violates Libya’s obligations under international law,” he added.

In the capital, even though wearing the veil is widespread and women’s participation in social life is already severely restricted, it is not uncommon to see women alone and without a hijab in cafés, sometimes returning home around 7 p.m. There are also Muslim religious minorities whose traditions may vary.

Imed Trabelsi’s rhetoric could appeal to the most conservative Libyans, from revolutionary-minded Salafists to Quietists who favor order. However, many of them doubt the credibility of this Minister of Interior, who has been in office since 2022 and was not previously known for his strictness.

Experts agree that this police crackdown could be a strategy to extend the government’s authority over the western territory. Just a week after winning a majority of the vote in several of the nation’s largest Arab-majority cities, President-elect Donald Trump has filled top administration posts with staunch Israel supporters, including an ambassador to Israel who has claimed “there is no such thing as Palestinians.”

Meanwhile, the two Trump advisers who led his outreach to Arab Americans have not secured positions in the administration yet.

The selections have prompted mixed reactions among Arab Americans and Muslims in Michigan, which went for Trump along with all six other battleground states. Some noted Trump’s longstanding support for Israel and said their vote against Vice President Kamala Harris was not necessarily an endorsement of him. Others who openly supported him say he will be the final decisionmaker on policy and hope he will keep his promise of achieving an end to the conflicts in the Middle East.

Albert Abbas, a Lebanese American leader whose brother owns the Dearborn, Michigan, restaurant Trump visited in the campaign’s final days, stood beside the former president during that visit and spoke in support of him.

Now, Abbas says it’s “too early” to judge Trump and that “we all need to take a deep breath, take a step back and let him do the work that he needs to do to to achieve this peace.”

“I just want you to think about what the alternative was,” said Abbas, referring to the current administration’s handling of Israel’s war in Gaza and its invasion of Lebanon. He added, “What did you expect from myself or many members of the community to do?”

Beyond promising peace in the Middle East, Trump has offered few concrete details on how he plans to achieve it. His transition team did not respond to a request for comment.

Those in the community with concerns have specifically pointed to former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, nominated as Trump’s ambassador to Israel. Huckabee has consistently rejected the idea of a Palestinian state in territories seized by Israel, strongly supported Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and opposed a two-state solution, claiming “there really isn’t such a thing” as Palestinians in referring to the descendants of people who lived in Palestine before the establishment of Israel.

While Huckabee has sparked the most concern among community members, other Trump Cabinet picks have strongly spoken in Israel’s favor as it targets Hamas following the militant group’s Oct. 7, 2023, attack in which it killed 1,200 Israelis and took hundreds more as hostage.

Riots broke out in Amsterdam on Monday evening as hordes of young men dressed in black set fires, threw rocks, and shot off makeshift missile fireworks, just days after a “Jew hunt” in the city following an Israeli soccer match.

Chaos continued in the Dutch capital on Monday as riots erupted in the borough of Nieuw-West. Videos on social media showed young men waving Palestine flags and others shouting, “Cancer Jews!”

Broadcaster Nederlandse Omroep Stichting reported that the youth rioters pelted cars and a bus with rocks and heavy fireworks. They also set fire to a tram in the area. During the violent outburst, chants of “Free Palestine” could be heard.

In a statement provided to De Telegraaf, Amsterdam police said: “A large group of people is causing a nuisance and throwing fireworks, among other things. This caused a tram to catch fire. The Mobile Unit is on-site to restore order.”

The riots come as the city remains on edge since horrific scenes following the Ajax—Maccabi Tel Aviv soccer match on Thursday, after which men on scooters conducted “hit and run” attacks on Israeli supporters, leaving over two dozen injured.

The attacks were reportedly premeditated and organised on pro-Palestininan group chats in Amsterdam. Taxi drivers are also said to have assisted in providing the locations of groups of Jewish soccer fans to be targeted.

Some on social media and elsewhere have sought to justify the “pogrom” attacks by pointing to footage purporting to show Maccabi supporters tearing down Palestinian flags on the previous night and chanting pro-war messages such as: “Let the IDF win. Fuck the Arabs!” and “Fuck you Palestine.”

Well, maybe they shouldn’t have done that?

People are already upset with the Jews, going around on a rampage doesn’t make things better.

The elections are not real. The government has the ability to turn on election fraud if they want, using the virus-born mail-in ballot system, which allows, in key states including Michigan, for an unlimited number of ballots to be printed and shipped anywhere.

Obviously, however, if the people in charge of the fraud support the candidate that is going to get the most votes, as was the case in this week’s election, they don’t need to rig it.

It’s likely true that Trump won the Islamic vote.

Anger over Vice President Kamala Harris’s stance on the war in Gaza likely spelled the end of her presidential hopes in Michigan.

The battleground state holds the highest concentration of Arab Americans in the country, many of whom expressed profound disillusionment with the Biden-Harris administration’s policy on the Middle Eastern conflict. Riding off their wave of fury against Harris’s refusal to commit to significant policy changes on the war in Gaza, President-elect Donald Trump found historic levels of support in Dearborn and other majority-Muslim areas across the state.

That support played a critical role in propelling Trump to victory in a state he lost by about 155,000 votes four years ago. Trump won Dearborn with 42% support during the 2024 presidential election, a significant increase from the 30% he garnered in 2020.

Harris carried only 36% of the vote, down from President Joe Biden’s 69% in 2020.

Trump also carried the neighboring Dearborn Heights, where 39% of the residents hail from the Middle East. The Dearborn area is the birthplace of the pro-Palestinian anti-war “Uncommitted” movement, which prominently caught the country’s attention during Michigan’s February Democratic primary. Voters cast over 100,000 protest “uncommitted” ballots against Biden at the time, escalating tensions between Democratic leadership and far-left factions of the party.

Trump’s gains over his 2020 performance with Arab Americans were the highest in the majority-Muslim city of Hamtramck. The former president received 42.7% of the vote with all ballots counted following the Nov. 5 election, which marked a staggering increase from the 13.4% he received in 2020.

The news comes as an apparent confirmation that Trump’s message of “peace” and “no new wars” has resonated with key leaders in Michigan’s pro-Palestinian community, many of whom have relatives who have been killed or are living in the Middle Eastern region that has been fraught with violence.

His rhetoric found a listening ear in Hamtramck Mayor Amer Ghalib, a prominent pro-Palestinian activist who made headlines after endorsing Trump in October. Dearborn Heights Mayor Bill Bazzi later followed in Ghalib’s footsteps, subsequently appearing at a recent Michigan rally with Trump.

This guy was clearly promised something by the Trump people to get so aggressive about it.

But most of the Moslems who voted for Trump were probably influenced by the Orwellian targeted advertising campaigns that were run telling Jews that Trump will destroy Palestine while telling Moslems that Trump will stop funding Israel.

Elon Musk’s PAC was sending Kamala’s own pro-Israel ads to Moslems and her pro-Palestine ads to Jews.

Gay-rights activist Father Timothy Radcliffe, who will be made a cardinal by Pope Francis in December, has blamed African opposition to homosexuality on “intense pressure” from outside influences like American evangelicalism.

The Catholic Church must be open to everyone, whoever they are, Father Radcliffe writes this week in the Vatican newspaper L’Osservatore Romano, “the divorced and remarried, gays, transgender people.”

“But in some parts of the world, welcoming gays is seen as scandalous,” he states. “Many Catholic bishops in Africa see it as an attempt to impose a decadent Western ideology on the rest of the world.”

That’s just what it is.

Whatever you want to say about the blacks, they did not have this problem before decadent white perverts went there and started telling them about “the other hole.”

It’s sick.

The priest notes with chagrin that Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo of Kinshasa, president of the organization that represents all the Catholic bishops of Africa, traveled to Rome in December 2023 to explain to Pope Francis why the African bishops could not embrace a Vatican text titled Fiducia Supplicans that opened the possibility of granting priestly blessings to gay couples.

“Never before had all the bishops of a continent repudiated a Vatican document,” Radcliffe writes. “Every attempt was made to calm the crisis.”

“Is the refusal to bless gays in Africa an example of inculturation or a refusal to be a nonconformist?” Radcliffe asks. “Inculturation for one person is another person’s rejection of the nonconformist Gospel.”

You sure it has nothing to do with this, Timmy?

Curiously, in his attempt to explain why the African bishops rejected en masse a proposal to bless gay couples, Father Radcliffe does not look to biblical teaching on homosexuality nor to the Church’s unchanging doctrine condemning gay sex.

Instead, he suggests that “African bishops are under intense pressure from Evangelicals, with American money; from Russian Orthodox, with Russian money; and from Muslims, with money from the rich Gulf countries.”

Maybe ask why then that if every religion is against gays, the Catholic Church is going to Africa and telling men to take it in the ass?

Why are they doing that? What is the end game?

In other words, if the African bishops are rejecting the idea of blessing same-sex couples, it cannot be out of fidelity to Christ and his Gospel; it must represent a caving to external pressures.

If Father Radcliffe had bothered to read Cardinal Ambongo’s own explanation for the African bishops’ action, things might have been somewhat clearer.

“In Africa there is no place to bless homosexual couples. Not at all,” the cardinal stated.

Blessings for individual persons are given “in the hope that the grace of the blessing can help them convert,” he said. “And if we bless a homosexual, it is also to say that ‘your sexual orientation is not in accordance with the will of God and we hope that the blessing can help you change because homosexuality is condemned in the Bible and by the magisterium of the Church.’”

“We cannot be promoters of sexual deviation. Let them do it in their homes, but not in ours,” he said.

See: the black is clearly saying that you are allowed to bless homosexuals, but only in the context of urging them to stop being gay. What the Vatican is now pushing is something completely different, saying that they will bless the homosexual act.

Unbiased readers may have trouble understanding how such a statement — which faithfully reflects Catholic moral teaching — could represent capitulation to Evangelicals, Orthodox, and Muslims.

Similarly, Bishop Martin Mtumbuka of the Karonga Diocese in Malawi told the faithful of his diocese in a Christmas Eve address last year to “forget and ignore this controversial and apparently blasphemous declaration in its entirety.”

“Was this letter written to please homosexuals and their promoters?” Bishop Mtumbuka asked.

The document Fiducia Supplicans “looks to us like a heresy; it reads like a heresy; and its effects a heresy,” he said.

The blacks are simply saying it outright, because they are not cowards like white people who just make snide remarks and hope that their problems magically disappear, or never actually existed in the first place.

I see these “trad caths” on Twitter, and they are jumping through insane hoops to try and explain how this is not heresy.

To be fair to white people, however, it is difficult to understand how something like this is even possible.
