A Wichita man is in jail on murder charges. He’s accused of shooting his wife in south Wichita.

Wichita police say the man called 911 Wednesday night and said he killed his wife.

Pierre Washington, 29, was booked into jail on the charge of first degree murder.

Investigators say Washington had just separated from his wife, Diana. But they aren’t saying why he shot her.

Washington called police from a home near 41st and Seneca around 6 p.m. on Wednesday. Investigators believe the shooting happened at least 20 minutes before that call at O.J. Watson Park, which is about three miles away.

The Virginia Beach woman charged with voluntary manslaughter in the stabbing death of her boyfriend has been granted a $2,500 pretrial bond.

“We`re just so happy that we are going to get to hold her,” says Sara Stagg, a close friend of DeJesus. “It couldn`t have been any better. IT couldn`t have even been any better for her.”

Megan DeJesus was arrested on September 27th after her boyfriend, Terrance Covington, was found stabbed to death in their home in the 400 block of Sedgewick Court.

Prosecutors say the two got into an argument that night, after Covington wanted to leave to get alcohol. Police say their fight soon got physical and Dejesus stabbed him once in the chest. DeJesus called 911 and police say When paramedics got there, she was giving him CPR.

“I`m just going to say I believe it happened because a mother instinct came out and something was happening to Megan that she needed to fight for her life,” Stagg says.

Huntsville police charged the boyfriend of the woman found dead behind a Target shopping center in Jones Valley early Friday morning with her murder.

William Lewis Payton, 41, of Huntsville was arrested Friday night and charged with the murder of Tonya Lynn Amerson, 27, according to Huntsville police. He is being held in the Madison County Jail without bond.

DNA from the man charged in the July homicide of Renee Eldridge matches evidence from her reported rape in Columbus in December 2014, though Eldridge accused another man in that case, testimony revealed Tuesday in Chambers County, Ala.

Murder suspect Stacey Gray’s DNA cleared the suspect initially charged with raping Eldridge in her Columbus home, and Gray now is being charged with that sexual assault, Sgt. Clay Tucker of the Valley, Ala., police department testified during Gray’s hearing before Chambers County Circuit Judge Calvin Milford.

According to the Columbus police warrant charging the first suspect, Eldridge was raped on Dec. 22, 2014, and her hands and feet were bound during the assault. That suspect’s attorney was Kyle Fischer, who Tuesday said his client, an Army Ranger, was held without bond for ten weeks before he was released, and Columbus police did not officially clear him until July 17.

The Columbus case charging the Ranger with rape and false imprisonment was assigned to Assistant District Attorney Wesley Lambertus, who Tuesday declined to comment beyond confirming the Ranger was released as soon as the evidence test showed the DNA did not match.

It was unclear whether Gray had a criminal record sufficient to have his DNA included in the FBI’s national DNA database known as CODIS, or whether investigators here sought to have the DNA profile derived from the 2014 rape checked through that system.

Fischer said Gray was in prison in Ohio from 1994 until 2003, having been convicted of assaulting two police officers.

State police allege that a man who had an affair with Samuel Vacante’s wife murdered Vacante in his Drums home, tried to clean up the crime scene, drove away with Vacante’s body in the victim’s own car and disposed of his body.

Eleazar Yisrael, 29, of Hazleton, was arraigned today by District Justice Daniel O’Donnell on charges of criminal homicide, robbery, burglary, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse.

During the arraignment, the defendant continually recited from a document known as an affidavit of truth, which is a proclamation of sovereign citizenship.

“I’m not compelled to perform under any contract,” Yisrael repeated as O’Donnell attempted to proceed.

According to the FBI.gov website, a sovereign citizen is one who believes he or she is not answerable to any government authority.

An investigation began after the victim’s estranged wife, Lisa Vacante, called Butler Township police on Aug. 31 to report Vacante missing along with his white 2014 Kia Cadenza. An initial search showed firearms, knives, watches and personal belongings to be among items missing from Vacante’s home at 20 Coventry Lane.

In the garage of the residence, discarded gloves and rags, which smelled of bleach, were found along with a discharged .22-caliber shell casing.

Yisrael was arrested by state police on Sept. 3 following a series of events linking him to the scene of the crime.

Vacante’s vehicle was found on Sept. 2 on Eighth Street, near Manhattan Court, in Hazleton, approximately 574 feet from the defendant’s home. Officers reported the license plate had been removed, the keys missing and the vehicle identification number blacked out with marker.

A Virginia couple has admitted to getting drunk and having sex in the middle of a shopping center parking lot.

“[I] was in the mood, and that’s basically what happened,” 36-year-old Kimberly M. Jackson told WTKR.

Authorities received calls about an exposure in progress at 6025 E. Virginia Beach Blvd. on Tuesday. The caller told dispatchers that a couple was involved in a sexual act in the parking lot.

Once police arrived, they found Jackson and her boyfriend, Earl Palmer, in the parking lot. At the time, the man was unconscious and unresponsive. He was taken to Sentara Leigh Hospital for treatment.

Jackson was arrested and charged for being drunk in public.

“The alcohol made me think I wouldn’t. I’m not into erotic public sex or anything like that,” says Jackson.

Police told WTKR the woman’s boyfriend was unconscious, but he says he was just passed out from drinking.

“I’m here trying to clear her name and let them know I consented to that, I just didn’t finish the job as you could say,” says Palmer.

WTKR asked why they decided to do this in the middle of the parking lot in the middle of the day.

“Everyone wants to do something spontaneous. I’m not being disrespectful to you. Have you ever done anything spontaneous?” asked Palmer.

The family of a missing boy is calling for his return after his mother kidnapped him at the beginning of last week.

Last week, the Hillsdale Daily News reported that 32-year-old Nicole Ruffin and her son, 5-year-old Laredo, had been declared missing by Michigan State Police. The last contact family members had reported was Aug. 31. The story goes a bit deeper than that, though, and involves custodial and child safety issues dating back several years.

Brandon Ruffin, Laredo’s biological father, separated from Nicole in 2012. Custody battles ensued between the two, coming to a head at the end of August of this year.

After a series of interventions by the Hillsdale County Probate Court and Child Protective Services concerning Laredo’s safety and that of his 12-year-old brother around Nicole’s boyfriend, Michael Gore — whom, according to Brandon’s current wife, has a history of child abuse.

A man charged with his wife’s murder will have his first court appearance Tuesday in Fluvanna County.

The Fluvanna Co. Sheriff’s Office is waiting on the medical examiner’s report to officially determine how Tayler Lindsey Burruss died.

Law enforcement responded to a home on Jefferson Drive in the Lake Monticello neighborhood around 4 a.m. Saturday, September 5. Detectives found Tayler L. Burruss dead inside the home.

By mid-afternoon, Sheriff Eric Hess named Tayler’s husband, 33-year-old Franklin Lee Burruss, as the suspect in her death, and that he was in custody.

Franklin L. Burruss is charged with first degree murder, and is being held at the Central Virginia Regional Jail.

Sheriff Hess would not say if deputies had been called to the Burruss home before for any kind of domestic situations. The sheriff says they are looking at many days of investigation ahead.

The Virginia State Police is assisting with the investigation.

Burruss is scheduled to appear in court for his arraignment at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Police are asking the public’s assistance in locating a 32-year-old woman and 5-year-old boy in Hillsdale County.

Nicole Ruffin and her son Laredo Ruffin have not been heard from since Monday, Aug. 31, according to a press release from the Michigan State Police.

Nicole Ruffin is described by police as a 5-foot-7 white female weighing around 165 pounds with blue eyes. Laredo is a light-skinned African-American child with black hair and brown eyes. See the photo at the top of the page.
