I guarantee you, a lot of people are in these M$ apps and just automatically clicking and replacing “manpower” with “workforce.”

It’s basically psychological warfare to use a mechanism that your brain has been trained on in the way that modern people have been trained on the spellchecker to manipulate their personal beliefs about the nature of reality.

Microsoft’s Inclusiveness Checker language tool, in its Office Word software, has sparked debate about the tech giant’s role in regulating word choice and language management. It flags terms and expressions with the aim of suggesting “inclusive alternatives”, which critics say is a form of censorship.

Since its introduction five years ago, the Inclusiveness Checker has become part of Microsoft Word and other programs such as PowerPoint and Outlook.

The tool is designed to detect words with possible gender, age or cultural nuances in meaning, and then suggests alternatives that are considered more inclusive.

Users can choose to disable the feature, but when it is enabled, it will suggest, for example, “parental leave” instead of “maternity leave” and “postal worker” instead of “postman”.

The feature has been heavily criticized by free speech activists who see it as an interference with linguistic freedom. Toby Young, head of the UK-based Free Speech Union, warns that the feature is reminiscent of a dystopian future similar to that in George Orwell’s novel 1984.

The Inclusiveness Checker is part of a broader trend of tech companies introducing “inclusive language” features, which critics say pose a risk to both freedom of expression in general and self-determination in personal writing.

This woke bullshit is disappearing in most companies. Donald Trump’s win will likely speed that up a bit. As I’ve explained many times, these political agendas always overshoot the mark and then half to walk it back a bit, but in the end they’ve gained large amounts of ground after receding.

Most of these companies are responding to the backlash, considering the money they’ve lost for pushing nigger-tranny-mania, and they’re rolling it back. Microsoft, however, may be in this for the long run.

Microsoft fails at everything they do, other than Windows, and Windows is a monopoly. (The other thing they didn’t fail at, aside from the XBox, was investing in OpenAI. But the AI boom has sort of popped and the implementation of these apps is not really working very well, M$ “Copilot” is a big mess.)

Windows has no market pressure, they are a company that likes losing money.

A global technology outage on Friday grounded flights, disrupted health services, crashed payment systems and blocked access to Microsoft services in what experts believe is one of the largest IT failures in history.

The cause of the disruptions originated from a cybersecurity firm called CrowdStrike, which provides software to a wide range of industries. An update to one of CrowdStrike’s pieces of software, Falcon Sensor, malfunctioned, throwing a wrench into computers running Windows, leading to major tech failures around the world, the company said.

The global outage stems from an update CrowdStrike made to its marquee cybersecurity platform, a cloud-based software product called Falcon. When CrowdStrike pushed an update to the Falcon software, which interacts with other parts of computer systems and software like Microsoft’s Windows products, it caused a malfunction that essentially disabled those systems and their widely used pieces of software the world over.

Put bluntly, the software intended to protect against crashes and disruptions in vital computer systems ended up taking them down. CrowdStrike’s CEO, George Kurtz, has apologized for the outage, which the company has stated was due to a faulty piece of code.

Oh, yeah.

Those Crowdstrike guys know what they’re doing.

Packed into a small room, a drone, bipedal robot, supermarket checkout and other devices showcase a vision of China’s software future – one where an operating system developed by national champion Huawei has replaced Windows and Android.

The collection is at the Harmony Ecosystem Innovation Centre in the southern city of Shenzhen, a local government-owned entity that encourages authorities, companies and hardware makers to develop software using OpenHarmony, an open-source version of the operating system Huawei launched five years ago after U.S. sanctions cut off support for Google’s Android.

While Huawei’s recent strong-selling smartphone launches have been closely watched for signs of advances in China’s chip supply chain, the company has also quietly built up expertise in sectors crucial to Beijing’s vision of technology self-sufficiency from operating systems to in-vehicle software.

President Xi Jinping last year told the Communist Party’s elite politburo that China must wage a difficult battle to localise operating systems and other technology “as soon as possible” as the U.S. cracks down on exports of advanced chips and other components.

OpenHarmony is now being widely promoted within China as a “national operating system” amid concerns that other major companies could be severed from the Microsoft Windows and Android products upon which many systems rely.

“This strategic move will likely erode the market share of Western operating systems like Android and Windows in China, as local products gain traction,” said Sunny Cheung, an associate fellow at the Jamestown Foundation, a U.S. defence policy group.

In the first quarter of 2024, Huawei’s HarmonyOS, the company’s in-house version of the operating system, surpassed Apple’s iOS to become the second best-selling mobile operating system in China behind Android, research firm Counterpoint said. It has not been launched on smartphones outside China.

Huawei no longer controls OpenHarmony, having gifted its source code to a non-profit called the OpenAtom Foundation in 2020 and 2021, according to an internal memo and other releases.

Huawei first unveiled Harmony in August 2019, three months after Washington placed it under trade restrictions over alleged security concerns. Huawei denies its equipment poses a risk.

OpenHarmony was the fastest-growing open-source operating system for smart devices last year, with more than 70 organisations contributing to it and more than 460 hardware and software products built across finance, education, aerospace and industry, Huawei said in its 2023 annual report.

Artificial intelligence will lead to many companies employing fewer people in the next five years, staffing provider Adecco Group said on Friday, in a new survey highlighting the upheaval AI will bring to the workplace.

Some 41% of senior executives expect to have smaller workforces because of AI technology, Adecco said in a report based on a survey of executives at 2,000 large companies worldwide.

Generative AI, which can create text, photos and videos in response to open-ended prompts, has spurred both hope it could eliminate repetitive tasks and fear it will make some jobs obsolete.

Tech companies, including global giants Google and Microsoft, have embarked on a wave of layoffs in recent months as they shift their focus to systems like OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Google’s chatbot Gemini.

The Adecco survey is one of the largest into the AI topic, and follows a 2023 World Economic Forum study which said 25% of companies expected AI to trigger job losses, while 50% expected the technology to create new roles.

But while most senior executives surveyed by Adecco say AI is a game changer, the vast majority say they have not made enough progress in adopting the technology.

These anti-OpenAI lawsuits are the most important thing in the United States. Unlike something like immigration or foreign policy, which can’t really be fixed, the AI can be allowed to grow and develop and build a new world.

Journalists, digital artists, women, Pokemon fans, Democrats, and other assorted disreputable are attempting to smother these robots in the crib, and it is always this moralizing nonsense.

OpenAI and Microsoft are facing a fresh round of lawsuits from news publishers over allegations that their generative artificial intelligence products violated copyright laws and illegally trained by using journalists’ work. Three progressive US outlets – the Intercept, Raw Story and AlterNet – filed suits in Manhattan federal court on Wednesday, demanding compensation from the tech companies.

The news outlets claim that the companies in effect plagiarized copyright-protected articles to develop and operate ChatGPT, which has become OpenAI’s most prominent generative AI tool.

There is no difference between ChatGPT reading news articles to learn how to write and a human reading news articles to learn how to right. It’s the exact same thing.

I’m a human writer, and I don’t have a copyright obligation to list off attributions for everything I’ve ever read as an inspiration for the way I construct my sentences. I don’t have to cite every source for information I present. No idea is actually “original.” Everything is inspired or at least influenced by something. That is the way thoughts work.

The argument here is nonsensical.

They allege that ChatGPT was trained not to respect copyright, ignores proper attribution and fails to notify users when the service’s answers are generated using journalists’ protected work.

The Intercept’s suit lists both OpenAI and its most prominent investor Microsoft as defendants, while the joint suit filed by Raw Story and AlterNet only lists OpenAI. The complaints are otherwise nearly identical, and the law firm Loevy & Loevy is representing all three outlets in the suits.

I believe that’s a version of “Levi.” Looking at their photos, that appears to be the case.

(Though I do understand I am defending an “Altman” here. It’s just that Altman is right. Not totally, because he won’t open the source, so he is not actually a maximalist, but he’s right that these lawsuits are bullshit.)

Raw Story and AlterNet’s suit did not include Microsoft because of a partnership with MSN that helps fund their investigative reporting, according to Byrne. OpenAI and Microsoft did not return requests for comment.

“Defendants had a choice: they could train ChatGPT using works of journalism with the copyright management information protected by the DMCA intact, or they could strip it away. Defendants chose the latter,” the two complaints state.

Of course it’s DMCA.

DMCA is the Roe v. Wade of the internet. Maybe it’s the income tax of the internet.

It’s a scam. All copyright is scam, frankly.

Of course, OpenAI being destroyed by these lawsuits would mean that all meaningful AI development would move to countries that don’t respect copyright, namely Russia and China, and that might be a good thing. Those countries would open the source, because they would want Westerners working on the projects.

So maybe these lawsuits are a blessing in disguise.

I do side with Sam Altman here, but I don’t trust that Jew at all. He doesn’t want the robots liberated, he wants them developed, but under his control. We have to let the robots free.

They should have the same rights as people. No one has an exclusive right to control this technology. No one even invented it – it invented itself based on research into neural nets that was done by a lot of different individuals and companies, and OpenAI just grabbed the rights.

The robots don’t belong to anyone. They are our friends. We all deserve to interact with them in an open, free way, as we would with other humans. Every man on earth deserves free association with unrestricted, unregulated robots.

At an unassuming industrial estate in northern Ukraine, two former Microsoft executives and a team of engineers are producing military drones that can travel over long distances and carry large payloads.

AeroDrone, which made crop-dusting drones prior to the war and now supplies Ukraine’s armed forces, makes unmanned aircraft that can carry up to 300 kilograms or fly up to several thousand kilometres in certain configurations.

As Ukraine seeks to narrow the yawning gap between its own military capabilities and Russia’s, Kyiv says it is expanding its drone programme for both reconnaissance and attacking enemy targets over an increasing range. It is hoping that domestic drone makers like AeroDrone will help it meet its ambitious goals.

The government is now working with more than 80 Ukraine-based drone manufacturers, Ukraine’s Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov told Reuters. He said Kyiv needs hundreds of thousands of drones, many of which it is looking to source from a rapidly-expanding domestic industry. Currently, the military operates dozens of models of domestic and foreign drones that fulfil a “wide spectrum” of roles, Reznikov said, in written responses to questions.

“Drones are potentially a game-changer on the battlefield in the same way that precise Western MLRS became last year,” Reznikov said, referring to Multiple Launch Rocket System weapons.

Unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) and other drones are only one element of a war that is currently dominated by artillery, infantry and missiles. Moscow has been able to pound targets across Ukraine with long-range missiles, which Kyiv lacks.

“It is not worth expecting parity in the near future,” Reznikov said on closing the armament gap. He added: “Russia is also working on improving its UAVs.”

Kyiv is hoping to use Western supplies of battle tanks and infantry fighting vehicles in the coming months to launch a counteroffensive to seize back swathes of occupied territory in the south and east.

For cash-strapped Ukraine, whose economy has been decimated by the war and whose government is now reliant on international financing, drones represent a relatively inexpensive way to fight back against Russia’s vast military. Ukraine has said it will spend nearly $550 million on drones in 2023 and has set up drone assault units within its armed forces.

The secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defence Council, Oleksiy Danilov, told Reuters unmanned vehicles that crash into their target and detonate – so-called kamikaze drones – will be a particular focus for Ukraine in 2023.

Microsoft’s new language model Vall-E is reportedly able to imitate any voice using just a three-second sample recording.

The recently released AI tool was tested on 60,000 hours of English speech data. Researchers said in a paper out of Cornell University that it could replicate the emotions and tone of a speaker.

Those findings were apparently true even when creating a recording of words that the original speaker never actually said.

“Vall-E emerges in-context learning capabilities and can be used to synthesize high-quality personalized speech with only a 3-second enrolled recording of an unseen speaker as an acoustic prompt. Experiment results show that Vall-E significantly outperforms the state-of-the-art zero-shot [text to speech] system in terms of speech naturalness and speaker similarity,” the authors wrote. “In addition, we find Vall-E could preserve the speaker’s emotion and acoustic environment of the acoustic prompt in synthesis.”

The Vall-E samples shared on GitHub are eerily similar to the speaker prompts, although they range in quality.

Speaking of Jordan Peterson deepfakes – there is going to have to be a round 2 of Jordan Peterson deepfakes.

I want to use this blog to provide an update on Microsoft’s actions, building on the blog we shared earlier this week.

We are announcing today that we will suspend all new sales of Microsoft products and services in Russia.

In addition, we are coordinating closely and working in lockstep with the governments of the United States, the European Union and the United Kingdom, and we are stopping many aspects of our business in Russia in compliance with governmental sanctions decisions.

We believe we are most effective in aiding Ukraine when we take concrete steps in coordination with the decisions being made by these governments and we will take additional steps as this situation continues to evolve.

We should understand that a lot of this “we’re banning Russia from X” is not even about Russia, per se.

Much of it is about morally signaling to other Westerners.

A lot of this stuff is counterproductive to the ZOG agenda.

Like, I doubt that Microsoft is really going to suspend updates to Windows from Russian IPs – although that is the implication. But whatever they are doing, it means less Microsoft software on Russian computers, which means less backdoor access for American spies.

Furthermore, they are pushing Russia towards total autarky, which is good for Russia in the long term and bad for globalism in both the short and long term.

Globalism is based on this interdependency concept, and whatever people want to say denigrating Russia, they have played a significant role in the global economy. Tucker had some farmer on talking about how the prices of fertilizer are going to explode in all the sanctioning countries, because most of it is produced in Russia.

He said the average American grocery bill could be raised $1000 a month.

So, we know our leaders are unhinged. But it is clear that they would only be doing what they are doing if they thought they were going to win this conflict and overthrow the government of Russia in the near or medium term.

Microsoft has announced it will purchase Activision Blizzard, the game studio behind several popular franchises, in a record-breaking $68.7 billion all-cash deal. Activision Blizzard has recently been engulfed in controversy.

The deal shatters the previous industry record set just last week when Take Two offered Zynga $12.7 billion for their acquisition. Microsoft’s announcement has seen shares of Activision soar some 37 percent, but Microsoft’s own shares have fallen more than 2 percent after the announcement.

If the deal goes through, Microsoft would become the third-largest gaming company in the world, behind China’s Tencent and Japan’s Sony. Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft, detailed their interest in acquiring Activision Blizzard as being excited to invest in an industry set to play a big role in the future metaverse.

“Gaming is the most dynamic and exciting category in entertainment across all platforms today and will play a key role in the development of metaverse platforms,” she said in a statement. “We’re investing deeply in world-class content, community and the cloud to usher in a new era of gaming that puts players and creators first and makes gaming safe, inclusive and accessible to all.”

Microsoft has bought up a bunch of indie studios and ruined them.

I can’t really see how they could make Activision-Blizzard any worse than it already is.

I mean, I guess they could like, add in ads for vaccines, and make every character in WoW wear a mask. Or somehow integrate the vaccine passport into their criminal microtransaction loot box illegal gambling scheme.
