Britain’s intelligence services have been slammed for a ‘racist’ internship that doesn’t let white students apply for roles at MI5, MI6 and GCHQ.

Pupils are being offered the opportunity of a paid, 10-11 week ‘intelligence internship’ next summer, which promises the ‘first steps towards an exciting full-time career’.

But the advert explains that the application is only open to students from a ‘Black, Asian, mixed heritage or ethnic minority’, and who are from a ‘socially or economically disadvantaged’ background.

This means that any white British student from a socially deprived background would not be eligible for the internship which could lead them to a bright career as a spy.

The advert states that the services are ‘confining the applications for this internship to those within this demographic due to a current underrepresentation in our workforce’.

Shadow home secretary Chris Philp branded the internship programme ‘racist’ and urged for it to be taken down.

‘I understand the need to encourage applications from a wide range of backgrounds, including underrepresented minorities,’ he said.

‘But this is an overtly racist policy and it should be immediately discontinued.’

He added: ‘It implies it is impossible for any white person to be deprived or deserving of assistance.’

Meanwhile, a former senior Royal Air Force (RAF) told The Telegraph he thought the decision not to let poor white students apply is ‘blatant discrimination’.

Employers are allowed to take ‘positive action’ by encouraging certain groups to apply for jobs, according to the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC).

It adds that positive action is lawful if the action taken is ‘proportionate’ to address the issue.

The beginning of the end for these spy groups was when Pierce Brosnon became the first gay James Bond.

I mean, Goldeneye was a good N64 game, but he was really gay in those movies.

In general, putting former intelligence agents on the media as expert commentators is a really weird move. But this guy is something else altogether.

There is “clear” Russian involvement in the far-right riots and security services will be looking closely at the instigators, a former head of the MI6 Russia desk has said.

Christopher Steele, the ex-spy who compiled a notorious dossier on Donald Trump’s relationship with Russia, said that security officials would be “looking very carefully” at the people encouraging anti-immigration riots in the past fortnight.

Speaking to Times Radio, Steele said of the riots: “I think it’s clear there is some Russian involvement. The degree to which that’s happened and the effectiveness I think is still out for question. I mean, when you look at the original disinformation that surrounded the Southport killings, that does seem to have come from a Russian-linked website.”

The origin of the false claim about the Southport stabbing perpetrator appears to be an outlet called Channel3 Now, which is styled to resemble a mainstream American network news channel and mixes potentially AI-generated US and UK news material. This website posted spurious claims that the Southport attacker was “on the MI6 watch list” and was “known to mental health services”. This was amplified by prominent far-right influencers.

Steele said that the security services “will be looking very carefully at the instigators of these activities, including people like Tommy Robinson, even conceivably Nigel Farage, who incidentally said that we were being misinformed by the government about Southport”.

Robinson, the former leader of the English Defence League, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, has been posting reams of material on platforms including X praising anti-immigration protesters from his holiday in Cyprus.

He is literally on vacation at a luxury resort while all this is happening.

He was at the very first event, immediately after the stabbing, then he got arrested, released, and fled the country to Cyprus. He’s probably trying to get into Israel.

Farage has come under fire for stoking conspiracy theories about the Southport attack by questioning “whether the truth is being withheld from us”. He has said he condemns “all acts of political violence”. The Guardian contacted Reform UK for comment.

Steele said security officials would be “looking at things like their travel movements, who they’ve been in touch with, monetary transfers, and so on, because that will reveal or not, as the case may be, a pattern of behaviour, which can lead to some conclusions about the degree to which Russia has been interfering in this situation”.

No one thinks the truth is being withheld at this point.

Whether or not British intelligence knew who he was is irrelevant, totally.

What is relevant now is that the UK police and the entire government are standing with the pro-stabbing movement and attacking the anti-stabbers. Further, riots continued to heat up in a second round after the court started putting people in prison for complaining about stabbing on the internet.

An ex-MI6 officer who is believed to have prepared memos claiming Russia has compromising material on US President-elect Donald Trump is now in hiding, the BBC understands.

Christopher Steele, who runs a London-based intelligence firm, is believed to have left his home this week.

The memos contains unsubstantiated claims that Russian security officials have compromising material on Mr Trump.

The US president-elect said the claims were “fake news” and “phoney stuff”.

Mr Steele has been widely named as the author of a series of memos – which has been published as a dossier in some US media – that contains extensive allegations about Mr Trump’s personal life and his campaign’s relationship with the Russian state.

Among the allegations are that Moscow has a video recording of Mr Trump with prostitutes and damaging information about his business activities.

‘In fear’

BBC News correspondent Paul Wood said he understood Mr Steele left his home on either Tuesday or Wednesday, before he was publicly named, and was now “in hiding”.

He said he had been told Mr Steele, a father of four, had asked his neighbour to look after his three cats.

Our correspondent said he had been shown the memos about Mr Trump in October last year, when he was told Mr Steele was “in fear of his life”, having spoken out about potential Russian involvement in Mr Trump’s election.

He said he had been told by members of the intelligence community that Mr Steele was “extremely highly regarded” and was thought of as “competent”.

British police are teaching Saudi officers hi-tech crime detection techniques that could lead to the “torture and execution” of pro-democracy activists, a human rights charity claims.

Reprieve says a “scandalous” internal police document released under Freedom of Information laws shows Saudi personnel have been trained in detective work and high-tech forensics at England and Wales’ College of Policing.

The report shows college bosses recognized there was a risk “the skills being trained are used to identify individuals who later go on to be tortured or subjected to other human rights abuses.”

According to the documents, the objectives of the training were diplomatic, development and security benefits, and highlighted how cooperation with Saudi Arabia on counter-terrorism had helped find a printer cartridge bomb in a cargo plane at East Midlands Airport in 2010.

Why is the whole Western foreign policy establishment so afraid of Putin?

Because Putin is standing up against Western aggression – not only in Ukraine, but also in Syria and Iran. The long-term goal: Total destruction of traditional nations and values, and the creation of a New World Order global dictatorship.

Secret units within the ‘Five Eyes” global spying network engage in covert online operations that aim to invade, deceive, and control online communities and individuals through the spread of false information and use of ingenious social-science tactics.

Such teams of highly trained professionals have several main objectives, such as “to inject all sorts of false material onto the internet” and “to use social sciences and other techniques to manipulate online discourse and activism to generate outcomes it considers desirable,”The Intercept’s Glenn Greenwald reported based on intelligence documents leaked by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden.

The new information comes via a document from the Joint Threat Research Intelligence Group (JTRIG) of Britain’s Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ), entitled ‘The Art of Deception: Training for Online Covert Operations,’ which is top secret and only for dissemination within the Five Eyes intelligence partnership that includes Britain, the US, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand.

The document outlines what tactics are used to achieve JTRIG’s main objectives. Among those tactics that seek to “discredit a target” include “false flag operations” (posting material online that is falsely attributed to a target), fake victim blog posts (writing as a victim of a target to disseminate false information), and posting “negative information” wherever pertinent online.

Other discrediting tactics used against individuals include setting a “honey-trap“ (using sex to lure targets into compromising situations), changing a target’s photo on a social media site, and emailing or texting “colleagues, neighbours, friends etc.”

To “discredit a company,” GCHQ may “leak confidential information to companies/the press via blog…post negative information on appropriate forums [or] stop deals/ruin business relationships.”

JTRIG’s ultimate purpose, as defined by GCHQ in the document, is to use “online techniques to make something happen in the real world or cyber world.” These online covert actions follow the “4 D’s:” deny, disrupt, degrade, deceive.

As Greenwald pointed out, the tactics employed by JTRIG are not used for spying on other nations, militaries, or intelligence services, but for “traditional law enforcement” against those merely suspected of crimes. These targets can include members of Anonymous, “hacktivists,” or really any person or entity GCHQ deems worthy of antagonizing.

“[I]t is not difficult to see how dangerous it is to have secret government agencies being able to target any individuals they want – who have never been charged with, let alone convicted of, any crimes – with these sorts of online, deception-based tactics of reputation destruction and disruption,” Greenwald wrote.

In addition, the targets do not need to have ties to terror activity or pose any national security threat. More likely, targets seem to fall closer to political activists that may have, for instance, used “denial of service’’  tactics, popular with Anonymous and hacktivists, which usually do only a limited amount of damage to a target.

“These surveillance agencies have vested themselves with the power to deliberately ruin people’s reputations and disrupt their online political activity even though they’ve been charged with no crimes, and even though their actions have no conceivable connection to terrorism or even national security threats,”Greenwald wrote.

In addition to the personal attacks on targets, JTRIG also involves the use of psychological and social-science tactics to steer online activism and discourse. The document details GCHQ’s “Human Science Operations Cell,” which focuses on “online human intelligence” and “strategic influence and disruption”that are used to dissect how targets can be manipulated using “leaders,” “trust,” “obedience,” and“compliance.”

Iran says it has captured a spy working for British intelligence agency MI6 in the south-eastern city of Kerman.

The head of Kerman’s revolutionary court said the alleged spy had admitted being in contact with four British intelligence officers 11 times, both inside and outside the country.

He said the accused was now on trial and had confessed. The nationality of the alleged spy is not yet known.

The UK Foreign Office said it did not comment on intelligence matters.

Iran regularly claims to have captured spies working for foreign powers but in most cases the accused is released without charge months later.

According to a report from Iran’s conservative news agency Tasnim, the alleged spy was arrested after 10 months of intelligence work and had once had a meeting with British agents in London.

It quotes Dadkhoda Salari, the head of the Kerman court, as saying he is aged over 50, with an “academic education”. He is said to be fluent in English but does not hold an official post.

The news comes as Iran and Britain take steps to try to re-establish diplomatic relations.

Britain shut down its embassy in Tehran, the Iranian capital, in 2011 after it was stormed in a protest over British nuclear sanctions.
