Law enforcement charged University of Louisville student Quintez Brown with attempted murder of Democratic mayoral candidate Craig Greenberg on Monday.

Greenberg is a former member of the public university’s Board of Trustees. University spokesperson John Karman told The College Fix on Tuesday via email that Brown is in his senior year.

The college senior “was charged late Monday with attempted murder and four counts of wanton endangerment after Greenberg was shot at in his campaign headquarters that morning,” according to the Courier Journal. “No one was injured in the shooting, but a bullet grazed Greenberg’s sweater and shirt.”

The Louisville police have not identified a motive for the crime.

Brown pleaded not guilty Tuesday to the charges according to the Courier Journal. The judge set his bail at $100,000. His attorney, Rob Eggert, told the local newspaper that Brown has mental health issues. “This is not a hate crime — it is a mental health case.”

Brown briefly went missing in June of 2021, WHAS 11 reported. Eggert, his attorney, said he was found two weeks after his disappearance “on a park bench in New York,” the Courier Journal reported.

Eggert also said in court that Brown had no criminal record other than a speeding ticket, and that “he has a ton of support in the community,” the paper reported.

Brown is a former editorial intern and columnist for the Louisville newspaper, where he previously wrote opinion pieces on poverty, race and violence. In a 2019 piece for the newspaper, Quintez strongly criticized Kentucky legislation that allowed individuals 21 and older to carry a gun without a permit.

“Every time lawmakers vote against gun safety, and thus the lives of our most vulnerable, they show that their hearts can be as cold as the steel of the guns they praise,” Brown wrote.

Brown has been “active with Black Lives Matter Louisville and the University of Louisville’s Youth Violence Prevention Research Center,” WDRB News reported.

Maj. Bridget Hallahan has been relieved of command of the Louisville Metro Police Department’s Fifth Division two days after the Louisville Courier Journal reported that the major had insulted protesters in an August email to other officers.

Interim Police Chief Robert Schroeder made the announcement Friday. Schroeder also said that Hallahan is expected to retire from the department on October 1.

According to Courier Journal, Hallahan’s email read, in part, “These ANTIFA and BLM people, especially the ones who just jumped on the bandwagon ‘yesterday’ because they became ‘woke’ (insert eye roll here), do not deserve a second glance or thought from us.”

“Our little pinky toenails have more character, morals, and ethics, than these punks have in their entire body… Do not respond to them. If we do, we only validate what they did,” the email continued, according to the newspaper.

“Don’t make them important, because they are not. They will be the ones washing our cars, cashing us out at the Walmart, or living in their parents’ basement playing COD for their entire life.”

Schroeder said Friday that the department was aware of Hallahan’s correspondence.

“They were her personal opinions and do not represent the views of this department,” he said.

“Major Hallahan has accepted responsibility for her emails, and is retiring from the department effective October 1.”
Department spokesman Dwight Mitchell declined to comment on whether Hallahan’s upcoming retirement was related to her removal from command.

A Grand Jury returned a negatory in the case of black woman Breonna Taylor being shot to death in her house by the cops in Louisville, Kentucky.

At least two Louisville Metro Police officers were shot in downtown Louisville Wednesday night, just eight hours after an indictment was returned in the Breonna Taylor case.

A source with knowledge of the situation confirmed the number of officers to The Courier Journal.

As of 9 p.m., the condition of the officers was unclear.

At time of writing, the police chief has just announced that neither of the officers are facing life-threatening injuries. He also said he fears for the lives of his officers generally, as he is facing an armed revolt by the blacks.

A Kentucky grand jury indicted former Louisville police officer Brett Hankison on three counts of wanton endangerment in the first degree in a shooting that killed Breonna Taylor, but neither he nor the other two officers involved in the fatal encounter were charged in her death.

Louisville Metro Police Department officers Myles Cosgrove, Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly and Hankison unleashed a barrage of 32 shots into Taylor’s apartment while serving a warrant in March.

The charges against Hankison, who fired 10 shots into Taylor’s apartment, stem from the errant bullets that penetrated a wall of the residence and entered a neighboring apartment occupied by a child, a man and a pregnant woman, Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron said at a news conference following the grand jury’s announcement.

Cameron said that none of the shots fired by Hankison struck Taylor, a certified emergency medical technician.

Cameron said the investigation showed the officers were advised by their superiors to knock on Taylor’s door in the early morning hours of March 13 and announce themselves. He said Cosgrove, Mattingly and Hankison had no involvement in the investigation nor in obtaining the warrant that led them to Taylor’s apartment.

Cameron said an independent witness corroborated that the officers knocked on the door and announced themselves. “In other words, the warrant was not served as a ‘no-knock’ warrant,” he said dispelling earlier reports that it was.

When no one answered, the officers breached the door.

Police officers and National Guard soldiers enforcing a curfew in Louisville killed a man early Monday when they returned fire after someone in a large group fired at them first, the city’s police chief said.A shocked witness said the group had nothing to do with the protests, adding he never “thought I would experience that here in America.”

Police Chief Steve Conrad confirmed the shooting happened around 12:15 a.m. outside a food market on West Broadway, where police and the National Guard had been called to break up a large group of people gathering in defiance of the city’s curfew.

Someone fired a shot at them and both soldiers and officers returned fire, the chief said. It was unclear if the person killed is the one who fired at the law enforcers. Several “persons of interest” were being interviewed, he said.

News outlets showed video taken by someone in a car parked at a gas station. It recorded the sound of bullets being fired as groups of police and national guard soldiers crouched behind cars.

A Louisville man has been charged with murder after police said he drove drunk, causing a crash that killed one man and seriously injured four other people, including three children.

The crash took place around 11 p.m. Tuesday on Millers Lane, just west of Dixie Highway, according to court documents. Police said Jermaine Sneed, 36, was intoxicated while driving eastbound at a high rate of speed and crashed into a van driven by Danny Whitfill, according to an arrest warrant.

Whitfill died at the scene, according to police, who said both cars were engulfed in flames by the time officers arrived.

“It was a horrific scene,” said Lt. Col. Josh Myers, assistant chief of police for the Shively Police Department. “There were neighbors who had pulled some of the injured folks from the cars.

“The flames were high enough to where they were actually reaching the transformer on a telephone pole,” he added.

A woman and two children in the van with Whitfill were badly injured in the crash. The woman was taken to University Hospital in critical condition. The two children were taken to Norton Children’s Hospital. One of them suffered a broken leg. The second child was in critical condition. Their current conditions are not known.

The longer you investigate a black’s actions, the more new crimes you’ll end up having to charge him for.

A man charged in connection to a 2017 double murder in Louisville is facing two new indictments.

Jefferson County court documents show Larry Sauer, 35, is charged with one count of complicity to murder and one count of tampering with evidence.

Sauer was originally arrested and charged in December 2019 on two counts of murder in connection to the 2017 deaths of Teressa McCoy and Austin Gamez.

On December 26, 2017, McCoy was found dead from a gunshot wound in the parking lot of Bessler Auto Parts of Louisville on Strawberry Lane.

Gamez was reported missing a few days later.

Louisville police arrested a man Thursday night they say was responsible for the death of his girlfriend, Amanda Berry, whose body was found in a basement in January.

Police found Berry on Jan. 30 in the basement of a home in the 3200 block of Virginia Avenue. Spokesman Matt Sanders said at the time, “it was apparent the person had been deceased for quite a long period of time.”

Police arrested and charged William L. Sloss, 34, with murder (domestic violence) and abuse of a corpse, according to court records.

According to an arrest citation, Sloss and Berry had been living together at the home on Virginia Avenue. Witnesses told police that Sloss “violently beat” Berry several times “over the length of their relationship,” the citation stated.

According to the citation, when the witnesses noticed that Berry was not around anymore, they asked Sloss where she was, and he replied, “I got rid of her.”

Berry’s family filed a missing persons report, and an investigation led police to the Virginia Avenue home. The arrest citation did not say when the report was filed, but a GoFundMe that Berry’s family set up to help with her funeral expenses said her mother “had not heard from Amanda since Thanksgiving 2019.”

A witness was on the phone with Sloss as he described where Berry’s body was in the basement and the container he put her body in, according to the citation.

The witness then told investigators that Sloss killed Berry and put her body in a “plastic storage tote” in the back of the basement, covering it with trash and other debris to conceal it, according to the arrest citation.

This is the shocking moment a female teacher was filmed brawling in a Kentucky classroom with a 16-year-old male student, who has now been charged with assault.

The fight, which broke out at Iroquois High School, Louisville, on Monday, shows the teenager, Kamron Jennings, being pushed to the ground by the educator, later identified as Carrie Durham Adams.

In the 20 second clip, filmed by another student and posted to Facebook, Jennings appears to square up to Adams before pushing the teacher in the chest.

One week after a Louisville man was found dead inside his home in Louisville’s Klondike neighborhood, an arrest has been made in the case. Police didn’t release many details when it initially occurred, but now we’re learning more about what happened.

Michelle Sarvis, 56, was arrested on Friday and is charged with murder, tampering with physical evidence, several counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, and a probation violation.

Police responded to a home in the 3200 block of Pomeroy Drive, that’s a neighborhood off Breckinridge Lane on October 11th and found the victim, 55 year old Kevin Hellems dead from “obvious foul play”.

According to Sarvis’ arrest report, she entered Hellems’ home on October 11th and struck him several times and strangled him causing his death. Police say Sarvis attempted to flee while taking Hellems’ cell phone and credit card.

Sarvis’ arrest on Friday came at the same hour as the victim’s loved one’s were gathering for Hellems’ funeral. According to Hellems’ obituary, he loved his family and friends, woodworking, the outdoors, cooking and helping his neighbors.
