If prices are still up even as the supply chain is recovering, then I wonder how much this price hike has to do with commodity scarcity, and how much of it is just inflation from flooding the money supply to keep investors fat and sedated.

AP:

As if trips to the grocery store weren’t nerve-wracking enough, U.S. shoppers lately have seen the costs of meat, eggs and even potatoes soar as the coronavirus has disrupted processing plants and distribution networks.

Overall, the cost of food bought to eat at home skyrocketed by the most in 46 years, and analysts caution that meat prices in particular could remain high as slaughterhouses struggle to maintain production levels while implementing procedures intended to keep workers healthy.

While price spikes for staples such as eggs and flour have eased as consumer demand has leveled off, prices remain volatile for carrots, potatoes and other produce because of transportation issues and the health of workers who pick crops and work in processing plants.

In short, supermarket customers and restaurant owners shouldn’t expect prices to drop anytime soon.

“Our biggest concern is long-term food costs. I believe they will continue to go up,” said Julie Kalambokidis, co-owner of Adriano’s Brick Oven, a restaurant in Glenwood, Iowa.

Tamra Kennedy, who owns nine Mexican-inspired fast food franchises in Iowa and Minnesota, joined Kalambokidis on a call set up by Iowa U.S. Rep. Cindy Axne and said sometimes even getting essential ingredients is difficult.

“You can pick an ingredient and I can tell you there are shortages,” she said.

Big fluctuations in food prices began in March, when the coronavirus pandemic began to sink in for U.S. consumers.

The Labor Department reports that the 2.6% jump in April food prices was the largest monthly increase in 46 years.Prices for meats, poultry, fish and eggs increased the most, rising 4.3%. Although the 2.9% jump in cereals and bakery products wasn’t as steep, it was still the largest increase the agency has recorded.

Dairy and related products, and fruits and vegetables increased by 1.5 percent in April.

Egg prices also reached an all-time record of more than $3 a dozen in late March, but they have since fallen to less than $1 a dozen.

The situation has been worse for meat prices, largely because of illnesses among slaughterhouse workers. The outbreaks struck pork processing plants the hardest, but beef and chicken processors also saw some impact as thousands of workers tested positive for the virus and the United Food and Commercial Workers union said at least 44 workers had died of COVID-19 as of Friday.

April retail prices for boneless pork chops and ham were nearly 6% higher than in March and retail prices for hamburger and sirloin steak were about 4% higher, the U.S. Department of Agriculture reported. The price of whole fresh chickens rose by more than 12%.

After numerous closures, most pork plants have reopened but often not at full capacity, forcing pig farmers to euthanize animals that couldn’t be processed.

…

By mid-May, beef and pork slaughterhouses were operating at about 60% capacity, though that figure has since climbed to nearly 90%, said Jayson Lusk, an economist at Purdue University. Although Lusk was optimistic that the worst of the meat supply crunch is over, he said it’s always possible that a second wave of illness could cause the situation to worsen.

…

Given that the percentage of Americans’ paychecks that go toward food has declined over the past 50 years, many people likely can handle the recent price increases. But the coronavirus also has pushed roughly 41 million Americans out of work, and for them, even a small price hike can be troubling.

“We’ve obviously seen this record increase in unemployment filings, and so there are more people who are at risk in that sense that they literally don’t have any employment to secure the money that they would need to buy the food that they traditionally purchase,” Malone said. “For the people who are already operating on the margins, these price increases are nontrivial.”

It’s also a tough time for livestock farmers, who had hoped that after some down years, they would benefit from new trade deals and a strong domestic economy.

“Farmers thought they saw the light at the end of tunnel,” Lusk said. “It turns out that it was the headlight of a train.”

Story of my life.

It usually serves me well to assume that things will always find a way to get worse – and that would be for these prices to continue to rise month by month, even as supply chains normalize, driven by worsening financial factors. We’ll see.

Meanwhile…

The Intercept:

Iowa’s largest pork producer, Iowa Select Farms, has been using a cruel and excruciating method to kill thousands of pigs that have become commercially worthless due to the coronavirus pandemic. As is true for so much of what the agricultural industry does, the company’s gruesome extermination of sentient animals that are emotionally complex and intelligent has been conducted entirely out of public view.

But The Intercept, as the result of an investigation by animal rights group Direct Action Everywhere, or DxE, has obtained video footage of the procedure and the resulting carnage that occurred at one of the company’s facilities in mid-May. Additionally, a whistleblower employed by Iowa Select has provided extensive details to The Intercept about the extraordinary methods now being employed to kill pigs — agonizingly and over the course of many hours — in increasingly large numbers.

What prompted both the DxE investigation and the whistleblower to come forward is Iowa Select’s recent adoption of the mass-extermination method known as “ventilation shutdown,” or VSD. Under this method, pigs at the company’s rural Grundy County facility are being “depopulated,” using the industry’s jargon, by sealing off all airways to their barns and inserting steam into them, intensifying the heat and humidity inside and leaving them to die overnight. Most pigs — though not all — die after hours of suffering from a combination of being suffocated and roasted to death. The recordings obtained by The Intercept include audio of the piercing cries of pigs as they succumb. The recordings also show that some pigs manage to survive the ordeal — but, on the morning after, Iowa Select dispatches armed workers to enter the barn to survey the mound of pig corpses for any lingering signs of life, and then use their bolt guns to extinguish any survivors.

Yikes.

I thought it was a joke when I read the headline.

But no, he actually said this.

OAN:

Former Vice President Joe Biden gave coal miners a suggestion while on the campaign trail: ditch the mines and learn to code. It’s all a part of his plan to make America a little more ‘green.’

The Biden campaign has long called for America to reduce its carbon footprint by moving away from fossil fuels. During a campaign stop in New Hampshire, the former vice president suggested he’d hold executives accountable and “put them in jail” for using fossil fuels.

However, it was his advice to lifelong coal miners that received the most backlash. In the interests of a ‘greener economy,’ Biden pushed the crowd to transition out of mining and into coding.

“Anybody who can go down 300 to 3,000 feet into a mine sure as hell can learn how to program as well,” he said. “Anybody who can throw coal into a furnace can learn how to program for god’s sake.”

Many were quick to criticize Biden, calling his comments reductive, tone-deaf and unhelpful.

According to the Brookings Institute, the number of coal industry jobs has plummeted by 40 percent over the past decade. Studies suggested there’s little proof retraining programs are actually successful in finding people jobs with equal or higher pay. Reports said some of those jobs only pay $12 to $15 an hour compared to the $75,000 salary coal miners receive while working in the mines.

“Tone deaf” doesn’t even begin to describe it.

This is like boomer self-parody.

I just cannot hardly even believe this happened in real life.

Of course, with tranny story time and Trump starting a new war in Iraq, I can believe anything is real life at this point, as real life has proven to be a gigantic hoax of some kind.

But wow just wow.

No, you cannot teach 50-year-old coal miners to write JavaScript.

The media floated this idea back a few years ago.

They were roundly mocked for either being completely out of touch, or simply being hateful and despising the working class.

Then when a whole bunch of media people were being laid off in early 2019, people were tweeting at them that they should “learn to code.”

This was throwing their out of touchness and/or hatred back at them, and it was deemed hate speech by Twitter, who started banning people for telling journalists to learn to code.

These people really flipped out.

Calling out the people telling journalists to learn to code as malicious was basically an admission that when the media told coal miners to learn to code, they were being malicious.

Needless to say, there is a whole lot of baggage behind the concept of telling blue collar workers put out of work by globalism to learn to code.

It’s also simply retarded.

I think of the boomers that I know in my own life, just about all of whom are white collar professionals, and it has been difficult to teach them to use iPhones. Everyone is aware of this.

A lot of boomers still read physical newspapers, to this day, because they can’t figure out how to read news on the internet.

So suggesting that they’re going to learn JavaScript is like suggesting they’re going to go get jobs at NASA designing spaceships.

It’s utterly nonsensical.

I recently wrote about the fact that it is very important to learn a marketable skill before you hit your late twenties.

Coal miners did that. Coal mining is a legitimate profession. Or at least it was. It was a skillset involving the operating of machinery, understanding of complex systems, etc. that could earn you $75,000 a year by the time you’re 30 in a relatively rural area where that’s enough to own a three bedroom house, two cars and have a wife who stays at home or works part time.

These people were responsible and built a life plan, and that plan was pulled out from under them by the global warming hoax – something that they never could have predicted and something they were not warned of.

They are casualties of an ideological war.

Maybe some of those billions that are being poured into the IPCC should be spent on providing these men with pensions?

Failed Antifa Journalist Michael Edison Hayden Finally Hits Rock Bottom, Goes to Work at the SPLC https://www.anglinarchive.com/2019/02/24/failed-antifa-journalist-michael-edison-hayden-finally-hits-rock-bottom-goes-to-work-at-the-splc/ Sun, 24 Feb 2019 00:00:00 +0000 Andrew Anglin

The pathetic failed playwright and failed antifa blogger Michael Edison Hayden has finally hit rock bottom and gone to work for the SPLC’s “Hatewatch” blog as a doxer.

The abominable loser Hayden spent time at the disreputable Moonie clickbait blog “Newsweek” writing fake news about the right-wing, and doxing people.

Hayden was fired from the Newsweek blog last year for unknown reasons. He was drinking at work and posting about it online with sick faces.

He threatened to send people to beat me up or kill me or whatever.

He would also threaten to harass people’s mothers if they refused to talk to him.

Most embarrassing of all, he posted screenshots of a fake Julian Assange account as if it were the real account and was caught by Assange himself before deleting it.

All of those things could potentially get a person fired.

Furthermore, Newsweek was swarmed by the cops for running bot networks to defraud advertisers shortly before Hayden was fired. It is unclear if he was involved in a bot scam to promote his own boring anti-racism articles.

After losing his job at the Newsweek fake news blog, Hayden then briefly worked as a doxer for the antifa dox squad “storyful,” before losing that job and finally taking a position at the bottom fo the barrel: the SPLC Hatewatch blog.

He’s not just an investigative reporter for a Jewish supremacy blog that has about 20% of the traffic of their main enemy the Daily Stormer – he’s a SENIOR investigative reporter for that Jew blog.

Just imagine being a 40-year-old brown person who invaded America, and with all of the vast advantages available to a brown person in this country – especially in the humanities industries – ending up at the worst possible writing job in the country, one that allows anyone to work there as long as you are a true believer in eliminating white people.

Everyone in the industry knows that “Hatewatch” is even further down than HuffPo. It’s utterly humiliating. This is what happens when your IQ is too low to learn to code.

Imagine being an Arabian who sucks off Jews and worships them. Imagine being a leftist to build a globalist Jew consumerist hell.

And then imagine also doing all that while dreaming of being a playwright, and having actually written a BDSM story about yourself talking about James Joyce to a dominatrix.

You will never be praised as a creative mastermind by Chuck Palahniuk, Michael. You will never be called a “darkly clever force” by the New York Times, Michael.

No matter how many people’s lives you destroy, your life will never matter.

No Country for Old Antifa Doxers

This one guy is funny to laugh at.

But it’s even funnier to laugh at the fact that the entire body of antifa journalists is being purged from the media.

Basically, after Charlottesville, these publications hired an army of these people to do nonstop hysterical anti-white propaganda.

Then, it turned out no one was really interested in that. This is in part what led to the massive layoffs earlier this year.

The antifa fake news brigade’s big break was broken.

Doxes and slanders of random people that no one has even heard of were not real news, and these companies couldn’t manage to pay people to do it while no one was reading it.

Aside from dedicated, privately-funded dox blogs like the SPLC, HuffPo is the last antifa blog standing.

And they have some very serious financial problems.

Verizon Media, the parent company of HuffPo, recently did a writedown of $4.3 billion.

Wikipedia:

In December 2018 Verizon announced that it was cutting 10% of Oath’s workforce and would write down the value of the business by $4.6B. Verizon management blamed competitive pressures and that the business never achieved the anticipated benefits. The move wiped out all of the goodwill on the balance sheets that accompanied the acquisitions.

Verizon is a successful telecommunications company, and it is totally not clear how they are going to keep funding this disastrous failed blog.

The top doxers at Huffington Post were not fired in the latest round of layoffs, and have continued their work, giving out the personal information of political dissidents they want to see hunted down and attacked by antifa fedniggers.

People Need to Start Suing These Jews and Their Minions

I was happy to hear that Grandpa Lampshade, who was recently doxed by the HuffPo, is taking legal action against them.

We need everyone who is doxed to start suing not just the publications but the journalists themselves.

What they’re doing in getting people fired from their jobs is illegal. It’s called “tortious interference.” Inciting violent mobs is probably also illegal, though that is harder to prove, unless they are as stupid as Hayden and actually announce publicly that they’re going to send a violent mob after you.

Even if you don’t win the lawsuits, they still have to respond to them. And these bloggers are making less than $35,000 a year. They can’t afford to fight a bunch of lawsuits.

People need to stop acting like they’ve been caught doing something wrong when they get doxed, to stand up for themselves and fight back.
