No one seems to be able to explain why this is happening.

The whole thing is some kind of big mystery.

It wasn’t happening before, now it happens all the time.

A Canadian Pacific train carrying hazardous materials derailed near Lancaster, Minnesota, Wednesday afternoon, Gov. Tim Walz confirmed on Twitter.

“State officials are working with local emergency managers after a train derailed near Lancaster. Glad to hear that no injuries are reported and the site is contained,” Walz wrote.

He added: “Experts are on the way to survey the site and make sure the community has everything they need.”

According to WCCO, the train contained 24 freight cars, including some with hazardous materials. None have leaked, per the report.

It happened about 10 miles from the U.S. border with Canada.

The derailment comes a day after another CPKC freight train, also carrying hazardous materials, fell off the tracks near Balfour, North Dakota.

Six freight cars and a locomotive derailed in McHenry County at approximately 5:15 p.m. Tuesday, KMOT-TV reported.

According to the report, three of the freight cars contained hazardous materials but nothing leaked. The derailment site was cleared and reopened to train traffic by Wednesday morning.

There were no reported injuries from the incident.

You can blame diversity, I’m sure.

But how does it just all of the sudden start happening?

Was it happening more and more often before East Palestine, and now we’re just paying more attention to it?

Probably, that makes the most sense, but I’ve yet to see an in-depth report on this.

A jury found a Pickerington man guilty on six counts, including two counts of aggravated murder Tuesday afternoon, a day after he took the stand.

Raeqwan Hancock, 22, was found guilty of killing John Letourneau in April 2018. The conviction came following five days of testimony, evidence and arguments in the Fairfield County Common Pleas Court in front of Judge David Trimmer.

The jury also found Hancock guilty of aggravated arson, a second-degree felony, in connection with setting fire to the Letourneau home to destroy evidence.

Hancock was also found guilty of one count of aggravated burglary, a first-degree felony; one count of aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony; and robbery, a second-degree felony.

Kristin Burkett, Hancock’s defense attorney, said while she thought there may be some contention with the first count of aggravated murder — whether her client had planned to kill Letourneau or if it had been a matter of circumstance — she expected guilty verdicts on the rest of the charges.

Homicide detectives were investigating after an assailant fatally struck a grandfather in the parking lot of a Jack in the Box in Lancaster Thursday afternoon.

Deputies responded to the fast-food chain’s location at 43628 10th St. W. around 12:45 p.m., Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Lt. Scott Hoglund said.

The incident began with a champagne-colored, four-door sedan pulling into the parking area. A man got out of the car and confronted the victim, according to Hoglund.

A brief altercation ensued, during which the aggressor apparently assaulted the victim. The lieutenant said he was not aware of any weapons being used.

The suspect vehicle then fled the scene, heading north on 10th Street West, investigators said.

Responding deputies found the victim on the ground suffering from “obvious trauma,” a Sheriff’s Department news release states. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities described the victim as a white man in his early 60s. The suspect is a black man, Hoglund said.

Family members identified the victim as 60-year-old Frank Borsotti, a grandfather of six.

Investigators have yet to review any surveillance video, according to Hoglund.

Deputies Wednesday announced the arrest of two men in connection with the murder of a Lancaster woman in 1978.

According to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, 20-year-old Leslie Long — a married woman who had three young children — worked alone at a gas station on the corner of Palmdale Boulevard and Division Street in the City of Palmdale.

Between 8 p.m. and 10:05 p.m. on Dec. 3, 1978, two African American men entered the gas station with a handgun, and robbed Long of an undisclosed amount of money.

Deputies said the suspects then kidnapped Long, forced her into their vehicle at gun point, and drove away heading south on the Antelope Valley Freeway towards Los Angeles.

The suspects then pulled off the freeway and drove to a deserted area where they raped Long before shooting her multiple times.

Traces of Congoid sperm belonging to Neal Matthews and Terry Moses were found on her body.

After the shooting, both men returned to the vehicle and fled from the scene.

Paramedics pronounced Long dead at the scene.

The woman found dead alongside her husband – both killed by gunshot wounds – in their Lancaster Township apartment Saturday worked in human resources.

Yarra Wilson was working as the director of human resources for Clair Global, the concert engineering giant from Lititz, at the time of her death.

Mrs. Wilson and her husband, Avery Wilson, an assistant principal at Solanco High School, were found dead Saturday morning inside their Kensington Club apartment in the 600 block of Wyncroft Lane.

Manheim Township police said both were shot dead, and that they believe one of the deceased was the shooter.

Authorities have not yet said how the shootings occurred.

According to her LinkedIn profile, Mrs. Wilson had worked as director of human resources for Clair Global since October 2011.

A 16-year-old has been charged in connection with the homicide of a Lancaster County teacher.

Marcus Anthony Rutter, of the 700 block of East Marion Street, Lancaster, is charged with criminal homicide, burglary, conspiracy and robbery, said Lancaster City police Lt. Todd Umstead. Rutter was taken into custody around 10 p.m. Monday a block from his home, police said.

He is a suspect in the killing of Nicole R. Mathewson, 32, a sixth-grade teacher at Brownstown Elementary School. The school is part of the Conestoga Valley School District.

Police announced they are still investigating Mathewson’s killing. They are looking to determine whether other people were involved in the crime.

Lancaster City police were called around 9:10 a.m. Monday to the 700 block of North Franklin Street for a report of an unresponsive female. Mathewson was found in the home with what appeared to be visible traumatic injuries, police said.

Her Mazda sedan was also missing at the time. Police said Tuesday morning the vehicle has been recovered.

Police say an innocent bystander was shot and killed just after 10 p.m. Friday, at Shenk’s Cafe, in the 500 block of Chestnut Street. in Lancaster.

According to investigators, when officers arrived in the area, they found 28-year-old Lamar Douglas Clark of Manor Township, in front of the Turkey Hill store at Plum and Chestnut streets, in a roadway, about a block from the reported shooting.

As police apprehended Clark, a teen approached one of the detectives. The teen was holding a gun. The teen told the detective that Clark had handed the gun to him prior to police arriving.

Upon further investigation, police say the teen had been a passenger in his mother’s car, which was parked at the Turkey Hill, when Clark handed the weapon to the teen, then exited the car and ran across the 400 block of East Chestnut Street, where he was arrested by police.

According to police, when officers arrived at Shenk’s Cafe, they found a 54-year-old man shot in the back. He was taken to the hospital, where he later died. He has been identified as Barry Diffenderfer, of Lancaster. Investigators say Diffenderfer was not in any way connected to Clark.

Officials say two other victims also arrived at the hospital, a 25-year-old man who was shot in the arm and a 60-year-old woman who was shot in the chest. Both have been treated and released.

Police say Clark entered Shenk’s Cafe and became involved in an argument with another man, produced a handgun and fired as many as five shots in the other man’s direction before fleeing the bar.

Police are charging Clark with criminal homicide, two counts of criminal attempt to commit homicide, aggravated assault and violation of the uniform fire arms act. Clark is being held for arraignment.
