The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s first Native American curator has had her credentials challenged by indigenous campaigners, according to a report.

Patricia Marroquin Norby, 53, won praise in 2020 after being hired by the famed museum, with The Met saying she was chosen after a ‘long and competitive search.’

She described herself as being proudly ‘Apache’ and the appointment was lauded by the museum.

But Native American groups tell The New York Post her roots are made-up.

‘She is definitely not Native American,’ one furious critic said.

The Met has weighed in on the row, insisting that she is telling the truth because she is a descendent of the ‘Pureapacha peoples’.

But the tribe, rooted in Mexico and parts of Texas, is not among the 574 officially recognized as being Native American.

Wait, are they accusing her of not being Injun at all, or of not being part of an “officially recognized” group of Injuns?

Can you not be an Injun unless the US government says you are?

Wouldn’t that be peak white supremacy and colonialism and the other stuff?

Norby took to social media this week to slam the allegations against her, claiming she is being targeted by a group of Native American women trying to ‘cancel’ her.

She denied the questioning of her roots, and said she is proud of her ‘Purepacha and Nde family roots from Mexico, northern Mexico and Texas.’

‘I am not going to hide my identity or family history in shame,’ she added.

She has claimed in numerous interviews and promotional work for The Met that she is of Purepacha descent, which is not officially recognized by the US Department of the Interior’s Indian Affairs division.

A spokesperson for The Met also insisted that ‘Patricia Marroquin Norby is of Purepacha descent and also descends from Indigenous communities in what is now Texas’ – but campaigners say that she does not have a legitimate claim to be a Native American.

Kathy Griffin, a member of the Cherokee Nation who compiled a genealogy of Marroquin Norby’s family, told The Post: ‘With all of the Native American scholars out there, we really wonder why the museum chose Patricia, who is definitely not Native American.’

Griffin alleged that in her analysis of her genealogy, there was no evidence that any of her direct ancestors were enrolled members of an officially designated tribe.

‘It’s genocide again of Native Americans,’ she said. ‘Now (white people’s) descendants are colonizing us again by claiming to be us.’

Is claiming to be something a genocide though?

A South Dakota tribe has banned the state’s Republican governor, Kristi Noem, from one of the US’s largest reservations after she spoke this week about wanting to send razor wire and security personnel to Texas to help deter immigration at the southern border with Mexico.

The Oglala Sioux tribe president said Noem’s ban from the Pine Ridge reservation resulted from the fact that many arriving at the US border with Mexico are Indigenous people from places like El Salvador, Guatemala and Mexico, who come “in search of jobs and a better life”.

Noem had also said drug cartels were infiltrating the state’s reservations shortly before the ban was announced.

“Due to the safety of the Oyate, effective immediately, you are hereby Banished from the homelands of the Oglala Sioux Tribe!” Star Comes Out said in a Friday statement addressed to Noem. “Oyate” is a word for people or nation.

Star Comes Out accused Noem of trying to use the border issue to help get Donald Trump a second presidency and boost her chances of becoming his running mate.

He said those at border “don’t need to be put in cages, separated from their children like during the Trump Administration, or be cut up by razor wire furnished by, of all places, South Dakota”.

Star Comes Out also addressed Noem’s remarks in the speech to lawmakers on Wednesday in which she said a gang calling itself the Ghost Dancers was murdering people on the Pine Ridge reservation and was affiliated with border-crossing cartels that use South Dakota reservations to spread drugs throughout the midwest.

Star Comes Out said he took deep offense at her reference, saying it “was used with blatant disrespect and is insulting to our Oyate”. He said the Ghost Dance is one of the Oglala Sioux’s “most sacred ceremonies”.

He added that the tribe was a sovereign nation and does not belong to the state of South Dakota.

In November, Star Comes Out declared a state of emergency on the Pine Ridge reservation due to increasing crime. A judge ruled last year that the federal government has a treaty duty to support law enforcement on the reservation, but he declined to rule on the funding level the tribe sought.

In recent years, alleged mass graves have been reported at many of Canada’s former residential schools, with Indigeous groups pointing to them as further evidence of the horrors that took place at the institutions, which were jointly operated by the federal government and Catholic church from the 1800s to the late twentieth century.

The fact that no human remains have yet been uncovered from the sites has cast doubt on the idea that there were, in fact, mass graves. Nonetheless, more excavations have been called for to prove definitively whether the horrific allegations are true, according to the New York Post.

In May 2021, leaders of the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc First Nation reported over 200 gravesites at a former residential school near Kamloops, British Columbia. The discovery of underground anomalies was made via ground-penetrating radar, as well as “oral history and folklore.” No hard evidence has been released to back up the claims, nor has a dig taken place to uncover the alleged human remains.

Following the news, National Chief of the Assembly of First Nations Perry Bellegarde called for a “thorough investigation into all former residential school sites,” saying it “could lead to more truths of the genocide against our people.”

In the years since, while numerous other mass grave sites have been reported, only one excavation operation has taken place.

On August 19, Chief Derek Nepinak of the Minegoziibe Anishinabe First Nation revealed that “no conclusive evidence of human remains” had been found under Our Lady of Seven Sorrows Catholic Church, which is the site of a former residential school in Pine Creek, Manitoba.

Nepinak added, however, that the discovery “should take nothing away from the difficult truths experienced by our families who attended the residential school.”

Those who question the mass graves narrative have often faced ostracization from their academic or political communities. In May, for example, former Manitoba attorney general James McCrae resigned from his position on a government panel after his claims that “verifiable evidence” of the claim “has been scarce, or non-existent” sparked anger.

Remember: if you would feel bad slaughtering a bunch of people, then you can be certain your ancestors would also feel bad about it. Your ancestors had the same blood (DNA) as you, and therefore would have felt similar emotions to you. It’s very obvious.

A professor at the University of California, Riverside has resigned after falsely claiming to have Native American heritage.

Andrea Smith, an ethnic studies “expert,” agreed to resign after 13 colleagues ousted her for lying about her Native American roots, in which Smith claimed to be a member of the Cherokee Nation, according to The Times.

Allegations that Smith had been lying about her ancestry first surfaced in 2008, when she was denied tenure by the University of Michigan, which activists said was “discriminatory” at the time. However, an indigenous academic uncovered that Smith was not registered as a member of the Cherokee Nation.

Despite not being Native American, Smith, who has been compared to notorious heritage fraudster Rachel Dolezal, says that she is a victim of “violent identity policing” and maintains that she is Cherokee.

“I have always been, and will always be Cherokee,” Smith said, according to the outlet. “I have consistently identified myself based on what I knew to be true.”

In 1991, Smith had written an essay that accused white women of wanting to “become Indian” so they could “escape responsibility and accountability for white racism.”

Angela Davis, an Indigenous activist, once described Smith as “one of the greatest Indigenous feminist intellectuals of our time.”

Smith was hired by the University of California, Riverside in late 2008. The university announced that Smith will resign from her post next August. Smith will not be subjected to an investigation and will be able to keep retirement benefits, as well as her professor emeritus status, according to the university.

The president of a Canadian university has apologized and is taking a leave of absence after allegations that she falsely claimed to be Indigenous, in the latest high-profile case of apparent cultural identity fraud.

Vianne Timmons, who is president of Memorial University of Newfoundland, said that she would be taking a six-week leave after the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) published a report last week questioning her claims that her father’s great-great-grandmother was Mi’kmaq.

“While I have shared that I am not Mi’kmaq and I do not claim an Indigenous identity, questions about my intentions in identifying my Indigenous ancestry and whether I have benefited from sharing my understanding of my family’s history have sparked important conversations on and beyond our campus,” she said in a statement on Monday.

Timmons said she “sincerely regrets any hurt or confusion” and that she “deeply apologies to those impacted”.

The incident is the latest in a string of events involving prominent figures who have been accused of overstating their claims to an Indigenous identity, prompting fresh debate about who can make such claims – and whether embellishments and falsehoods should be treated as fraud.

Though Timmons told the CBC that she had not claimed to be Indigenous, she had listed membership with the Bras d’Or Mi’kmaq First Nation in Nova Scotia, which is not recognized by other Indigenous groups or by the federal government. She also accepted an award in 2019 from Indspire, an Indigenous-led charity, which on Tuesday still listed her as Mi’kmaq on its website.

When Dr Megan Scribe, an assistant professor in sociology at Toronto Metropolitan University, saw Timmons’ statements, she said her first thought was: “Oh no, again?”

“Even after learning some of the circumstantial details … it all starts to blur. Because there have been so many confirmed and potential cases of identity fraud at universities in the last year,” said Scribe, who is Ininiw from the Norway House Cree Nation and the education director for the Yellowhead Institute, an Indigenous-led research and education center based at the university.

Other recent cases include Carrie Bourassa, a former professor at the University of Saskatchewan, who was suspended after her claims to multiple Indigenous identities were challenged. She resigned from the school in 2022.

In October, the CBC published an investigation into Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond, a former judge and then professor at the University of British Columbia, about discrepancies in her claims to Indigenous history.

At the time, Turpel-Lafond said that she had trusted her father’s account of having Cree heritage. Some of Turpel-Lafond’s honorary degrees were revoked, and she recently told the Canadian Press that it was “liberating” to be freed of the honours, as it allowed her to “focus on what really matters in her life”. She cautioned that “trial by media is rampant” and could lead to “wrongful convictions”.

And in 2021, Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, faced a backlash after reports emerged that cast doubt on the Indigenous identity of several faculty members. The following year, a 32-page report by Indigenous academics called on the school to apologize and create a process to validate Indigenous identities.

Since colonization began, white Canadians have often pretended to be Indigenous, from white people dressed as Indigenous “performers” at 20th-century fairs to Canadian summer camps where children were told to pretend to be Indigenous as an element of “play”.

Scribe said that falsely claiming Indigenous heritage remains “an emerging feature of settler colonialism” and is “now taking root in our society in a more structural, systemic way”.

“It’s a feature of colonialism that allows settlers to legitimize their claim to these territories,” she said.

Sir Matthew Begbie Elementary School, located in Vancouver, Canada, has been renamed to “wək̓ʷan̓əs tə syaqʷəm,” which means “the sun rising over the horizon.”

Vancouver School Board (VSB) superintendent Helen McGregor said that the name change came as the school district sought to reconcile Canada’s past offenses against the Musqueam people – who are natives of Vancouver.

“Asking Musqueam to gift the school a hən̓q̓əmin̓əm̓ name is one way the District is showing its commitment to continuing our reconciliation journey,” McGregor said, according to a press release. “It increases the knowledge, awareness, appreciation of and respect for Musqueam history, language, tradition, culture and contributions.”

A ceremony was held in celebration of the school’s new name and building, which was built to withstand an earthquake and cost $22.4 million.

The school was previously named after Sir Matthew Begbie, the first Chief Justice of the Crown Colony of British Columbia, according to Vancouver City News.

The outlet reported that Begbie became known as “the hanging judge” for his role in the 1864 execution of five Tsilhqot’in Chiefs who were accused of murdering settlers.

The Canadian government apologized for the hanging in 2014 and later exonerated the hanged Chiefs in 2018.

It’s not reasonable to assert that every nonwhite who was ever executed for crimes throughout all of history were innocent.

It’s also not reasonable to claim that whites were just killing random people for no reason. We’ve been over this with the whole “lynching” thing – blacks were not even specifically targeted by lynchings; they targeted rapists, and it just so happens that 2/3rds of the rapists were black.

Sacheen Littlefeather, the activist who famously stood in for Marlon Brando to refuse the best actor Oscar in 1973, faked Native American ancestry, her family have said.

In an article in the San Francisco Chronicle, Littlefeather’s sisters Rosalind Cruz and Trudy Orlandi said that their sister’s claim to have Apache and Yaqui ancestry through her father was “a lie” and “a fantasy”.

Orlandi told the Chronicle: “It’s a lie. My father was who he was. His family came from Mexico. And my dad was born in Oxnard [California].” Cruz added: “It is a fraud. It’s disgusting to the heritage of the tribal people. And it’s just … insulting to my parents.”

Littlefeather died in October shortly after receiving a formal apology from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Ampas), the body who organises the Oscars, for the way she was treated at the 1973 ceremony. Littlefeather responded at the time with a statement saying: “Regarding the Academy’s apology to me, we Indians are very patient people – it’s only been 50 years! We need to keep our sense of humour about this at all times. It’s our method of survival.”

However, the article’s author Jacqueline Keeler reports that Littlefeather’s birth name was Marie Louise Cruz, and that she has found no evidence of any connection or claim that her father, Manuel Ybarra Cruz, had to Native American ancestry.

Cruz and Orlandi also refuted Littlefeather’s claims of childhood poverty and parental abuse. Cruz said: “My father was deaf and he had lost his hearing at nine years old through meningitis. He was born into poverty. His father, George Cruz, was an alcoholic who was violent and used to beat him. And he was passed to foster homes and family. But my sister Sacheen took what happened to him.”

At least ten people have been killed and many others injured, after two assailants went on a stabbing spree in multiple locations in a rural area of Saskatchewan province, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police confirmed on Sunday. They warned that the suspects were still at large, and armed and dangerous.

“We have located 10 deceased individuals in 13 locations in the community of James Smith Cree Nation and Weldon, Saskatchewan,” RCMP Assistant Commissioner Rhonda Blackmore said at a press conference on Sunday afternoon.

Melfort RCMP have issued a provincewide dangerous persons alert after several calls of stabbings in the James Smith Cree Nation and Weldon, Sask.

Police said they received a report that the two suspects, identified by RCMP as Damien Sanderson and Myles Sanderson, may have been traveling in the Arcola Avenue area in Regina around 11:45 a.m.

“As the suspects are at large, we have also asked for the alert to be extended to Manitoba and Alberta,” RCMP said in a news release Sunday afternoon.

They released that information just after noon CT Sunday.

In the alert issued at 8:20 a.m. CT Sunday, they said two male suspects are believed to be in a black Nissan Rogue with Saskatchewan licence plate 119 MPI. As the suspects may have access to a vehicle, the RCMP have expanded the alert provincewide.

Police are asking Regina residents to take precautions and consider sheltering in place.

The alert was first issued at 7:12 a.m. CT Sunday and has since had several updates.

It almost makes you think that allowing adults to own guns – as if they were adults – is good for society, no?

It took me a minute to realize they were red Indians. We don’t have any Indian crime in America that I’m aware of, but I think it’s because they live on reservations and do not have the energy to leave. We used to go see the outdoor theatre even Tecumseh when I was a kid. He was an Indian from Ohio who supposedly tried to organize various tribes to kill whites.

I also did enjoy (guilty pleasure) the Jason Aaron comic book Scalped. It portrayed modern Indians as running gangs (which I don’t think is true at all), and then integrated their mythology – or alleged mythology – and romanticized it in a way that was very white.

Aaron is one of the better comic writers that is still active, but the book might have not been so well received by me if it didn’t feature R. M. Guéra’s art. He is just so good.

And the of course you have the most famous of all Indian romantic stories, which is James Cameron’s Avatar. I thought the movie sucked. I saw it in the theatre and didn’t ever have a desire to watch it again. I just saw he’s finally making the sequels.

(I would have preferred he make a new Terminator or Aliens film, frankly. I was big into his films, but never could make it through Titanic, and then thought Avatar just sucked. Terminator 2 is probably the single best big budget action/scifi film ever made. It had the very best practical effects. The fact that Cameron became obsessed with CGI crap is gross.)

I don’t think any of this romantic stuff is in any way accurate, at all.

I really dislike Cormac McCarthy, and would support imprisoning him for obscenity. However, even while it is disgusting edgelord trash, I think that Blood Meridian (which I read recently) featured a much more realistic portrait of what Indians actually behaved like. He had these people are just complete death cultists, and a bloody, satanic force of nature.

(That quote on the cover is literally the best sentence in the book.)

I have attacked Cormac McCarthy’s novels for not being real literature, not containing valid themes or structure, relying totally on stylistics over substance – but with Blood Meridian, he can at least say “I wrote it to show that Indians were lower than any animal and whatever white people are accused of doing to them, they deserved worse.”

McCarthy is old and still not dead, and hasn’t been canceled. Poor JK Rowling is canceled, and Harry Potter is being described as anti-tranny Christian Nationalist propaganda.

Someone should try to get McCarthy canceled. Get him to apologize for being a racist, and misrepresenting the Apaches as violent savages.

Cormac McCarthy getting canceled would drive all of the 115 pseudo-intellectual boomers and gen xers who are sitting by and doing nothing as their beloved liberalism is totally replaced with a pederastic cult over the edge. It is impossible to overstate how much he means to every single college-educated boomer and gen xer who pretends to be a leftist intellectual.

They claim Blood Meridian is “the great American novel.”

There is no great American novel, other than Moby Dick and Bonfire of the Vanities. Americans simply did not ever write very good novels. Most of the good novels were written by the Russians, and the rest were written by the French. William Shakespeare is still better than any novelist, and the novel is a vulgar art that was always going to lead to some deranged pervert like McCarthy writing about Indians chopping the heads off of babies and hanging them from a tree like Christmas ornaments.

If it was still 2016, and the media was still obsessed with me, I would endorse Blood Meridian as the Official Great American Novel of the Alt-Right and force the 100 year old boomer pervert McCarthy to disavow that book. It would be hilarious.

But nothing is fun anymore, and nothing is funny. Jews have officially decreed: “thou shalt not lol.”

Psycho Dictator Brandon needs to put this in his next speech.

That is the funny thing: Joe Biden going full psycho dictator and saying there is no more fun allowed in his America because of who we are in a democracy of values is actually funny.

They are probably going to send the cops to kill everyone, and that’s a shame, but you have to admit: Brandon going full evil dictator, just openly threatening the majority population with some kind of organized crackdown on everyone who disagrees with him – this is the first funny thing we’ve seen in some time now.

I would write these speeches if they asked me too.

They’d be like “but aren’t you a Trump guy, bro?” and I’d be like “yeah, but you know, this whole psycho dictator saying he’s going to go full Dr. Doom – I just think this is funny. Every time I think of that Joe Biden speech where he’s announcing a dictatorship, I think about if Dr. Doom met with the Pope and shit his pants, lol.”

How the hell would it even be possible to prove any of this after all this time?

Canadian police said they arrested a 92-year-old retired priest for a sexual assault more than 50 years ago at one of Canada’s residential schools for Indigenous children.

Sgt Paul Manaigre of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police said on Friday that police arrested retired Father Arthur Masse for the assault. Manaigre said the victim was 10 years old at the time and it happened between 1968 and 1970 at Ford Alexander residential school in Manitoba.

Manaigre said there is no time limit to report a sexual assault. Masse has been released on conditions and is due to be in court next month.

From the 19th century until the 1970s, more than 150,000 First Nations children were required to attend state-funded Christian schools as part of a program to assimilate them into Canadian society. They were forced to convert to Christianity and not allowed to speak their Indigenous languages. Many were beaten and verbally abused, and up to 6,000 are said to have died.

The Catholic Church is accused of all of these homosexual scandals, and it’s clear some of them are true – but it’s also an attack on the Church, and it’s impossible to know which is which.

Canada is pushing other hoaxes against the church – including that really stupid one where if any Indian died at any time in all of the nation’s history, he or she was only dead because some priest beat him or her to death.

There’s another elephant in the room with these Catholic gay sex scandals – Jewish rabbis are nearly 20 times more likely to molest a child than a Catholic priest is.

Those are the official statistics. In reality, it’s probably at least twice that bad, because a Jew family is a lot less likely to speak out, and a Catholic family is a lot more likely to lie.

The fact is that there is probably something close to a 100% abuse rate of boys born into orthodox Jewish communities. Whatever the Catholic rate is, it’s much, much lower – and yet all we hear about is the Catholics, and when you start talking about “fifty years ago,” it’s just getting silly.

Even though some Jews complain about the child abuse in their own synagogues, they keep it out of the mainstream media.
