A number of parents at Oyster Pond Academy pulled their children from class Friday after learning about a gender identity presentation.

“It went above and beyond what should be taught in the classroom,” said Hollie Riggs, a parent with children at the school.

The presentation focused on sexual identity, gender diversity, and relationships – all part of the curriculum.

Riggs said she first learned the presentation happened on social media Thursday evening and decided to pull her child out of class.

“I wanted to have to avoid them having that conversation with their peers after school, to avoid that communication, so I can have it at home,” Riggs said.

Some parents learned from their children that the presenter shared their social media account Riggs said, which allegedly included content intended for an older audience.

“It was the fact that how much of it was discussed and what the kids had access to after the meeting,” said Riggs.

In a statement to CTV News the Halifax Regional Centre for Education (HRCE) confirmed that there was a presentation for grade 9 students and that a representative from the Youth Project was talking to them.

“One of the presenters shared their personal social media details, which prompted some of the students to view content that is intended for an adult audience,” the statement said.

Riggs said she was upset that students who wanted to opt out were not allowed.

“When I asked him about it, he said, ‘mom I didn’t want to be there, but they weren’t letting us leave,’” said Riggs.

“My son came home from school yesterday. He was telling me about the interactions he had with the influencer,” said Greg Austin, another parent whose son attends the school. “Mostly for me as a parent, we had no idea that anybody was coming to talk to our kids.”

Austin said his son didn’t feel good about the presentation.

“He could see people were not comfortable and that other people asked to leave, and they weren’t allowed to,” said Austin. “There wasn’t any other option.”

One parent told CTV News that they had no issues with the presentation and said their child, who is navigating gender identity challenges, found the talk helpful. They said they hope these conversations continue to take place in schools.

Childcare centres have been accused of trying to make toddlers feel ashamed of their country by teaching them Australia was stolen from First Nations people.

More than 7,000 schools and daycare centres are registered with Reconciliation Australia as having a formal ‘acknowledgement of country’.

Many childcare centres have been urged to commemorate January 26 as Invasion or Survival Day while others recite an Acknowledgement of Country daily.

Childcare centres and preschools are the latest to become embroiled in the divisive Australia Day debate leading up to the national public holiday this Friday.

The move has sparked outrage from NSW Libertarian Party MP John Ruddick who accused childcare centres of ‘indoctrination’.

Aussie Childcare Network, which is a leading provider of childcare resources, has created a calendar of events.

January 26 is listed as ‘Yabun, celebrating Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultures, Invasion Day, Survival Day, Australia Day’.

The network suggests that providers mark Australia Day by flying the Aboriginal flag at half-mast, observe a moment of silence, or include an Acknowledgement of Country in the morning

Early Childhood Australia encourages providers to build relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to bring about positive change to communities.

Rightwing extremist and anti-democratic attitudes are becoming increasingly widespread in Germany, according to a study examining the public’s political views.

Commissioned by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, which is closely affiliated with the Social Democratic party, the study showed that 8% of the population had a distinctly rightwing extremist view of the world, a rise of between 5% and 6% on previous studies, while the “centre middle” was becoming “ever more receptive to misanthropic positions”.

Friedrich Ebert was a social democrat politician during the Weimar Republic. He’d probably be called a “far-right extremist” if he were around today.

The findings also showed that an increase, to 6% of those questioned, advocated social Darwinist views, agreeing with the statement “there are worthy and unworthy lives”, up from 2% to 3% since 2014.

More people than in previous studies – 15.5% – considered themselves to be “right of centre”, while 55% saw themselves as “exactly in the centre”, compared with 60% or above in the previous decade.

Those desirous of a single-party and authoritarian led state (the word used in the study was führer), rose from between 2% and 4% in 2014 to 2021, to 6% now.

Once that particular number hits 10%, you’re going to see some serious shit.

The 400-page study, carried out by researchers at the University of Bielefeld, questioned 2,000 people at the start of 2023, who represent a cross-section of the population.

An increasing number said they saw the need for Germany to put itself first in national matters, with 16% saying they would like the country to have a “stronger sense of national identity” led by politicians whose priority it should be to ensure Germany has its fair share of “power and prestige”.

This is something the majority of people in most countries on earth would tell you they want if you asked them, but in Germany just 16% of them are saying it is a “cause for concern.”

Less than 60% said they had faith in democracy and institutions, with 20% – a rise of 4% – believing in the statement “our country increasingly resembles a dictatorship rather than a democracy”, while almost a third said the statement “the governing parties are deceiving the people” rang true, and a similar number said they believed that politicians and the media were “in bed together”.

More than a third believe that refugees came to Germany only in order to exploit its social welfare system, while 16.5% accused Jewish people of wanting to “take advantage” of the Nazi past – despite the fact that 6 million Jews were murdered by the Nazis. Other parts of the study showed further antisemitic positions, or at the very least ambivalence over the issue.

The Oregon Department of Education has come under fire for a document published on Thursday, titled “Supporting Gender Expansive Students: Guidance for Schools,” which appears to counsel school staff to help students conceal their “expansive” gender identities from their parents.

If a student declares a new gender identity, the guide instructs school districts to immediately begin treating them in accordance with that identity, informing teachers of their new name and pronouns, and updating their name on school records.

However, schools shouldn’t run to the student’s parents with their child’s decision, according to the guide. “To the extent possible, schools should refrain from revealing information about a student’s gender identity, even to parents,” it states, noting that students might have “privacy concerns about students, school staff, community members or their families finding out before they are ready to share their identity more widely.”

The guide also encourages litigiousness, recommending staff, parents, or students who witness what they believe to be harassment over gender identity or sexual orientation to file a Title IX discrimination complaint. Such “discrimination” could involve a transgender student denied the opportunity to play on a sports team that “most aligns with their gender,” or failure to provide a gender-nonconforming student with their desired bathroom facilities or “peer rooming assignments” on field trips, and staff are encouraged to undergo special training in order to be able to better recognize such issues.

Parents’ rights groups have come out against the guide. “Oregon is demonstrating for parents that once again academics and education are not the priority of our government school system,” Laura Zorc of Building Education for Students Together told the Daily Caller on Friday, pointing out that every hour spent teaching gender issues was one not spent in academic education.

Department of Education Director Colt Gill justified the guide in his introduction, reasoning that the last 18 months had seen “record numbers of proposed and sometimes passed legislation, political vitriol and dehumanizing media coverage against gender-affirming education and healthcare nationwide.”

The really psycho part is that these people were also trying to force this onto Russians in the Donbass.

The University of Chicago is slated to offer students a class titled “The Problem Of Whiteness” during the upcoming Winter semester, according to the school’s course catalog.

The course description calls whiteness “a conspicuous problem within liberal political discourse” that has “worldmaking (and razing) effects.” Students will study material through the lens of critical race theory — the theory that views all interactions through the lens of race.

“Critical race theorists have shown that whiteness has long functioned as an ‘unmarked’ racial category, saturating a default surround against which non-white or ‘not quite’ other appear as aberrant,” the description reads. “This saturation has had wide-ranging effects, coloring everything from the consolidation of wealth, power and property to the distribution of environmental health hazards.”

University of Chicago sophomore Daniel Schmidt tweeted a picture of the course name and description Tuesday, claiming the course is an example of “anti-white hatred” from faculty on campus.

The course description describes whiteness “as a conspicuous problem within liberal political discourse” with “worldmaking (and razing) effects.”

A California teacher was terminated from her position allegedly because she refused to read books about same-sex marriage to students aged one to five years old, according to a lawsuit filed by the Thomas More Society.

Educator Nelli Parinsenkova is suing Bright Horizons, a nationwide childcare facility, for alleged religious discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, according to a press release from her lawyers. Parinsenkova worked at the Bright Horizons Studio City location in California for four years.

The litigation claims that after the Studio City location director discovered Parinsenkova’s Christian beliefs she “enforced company policy requiring all teachers to support and promote celebrations of ‘diversity’ including same-sex marriage to children in the care program.”

Parinsenkova claims the childcare center’s director harassed her, had a security guard escort her from the building “like a dangerous criminal,” and eventually fired her after she requested accommodations to not read LGBT books to students in accordance with her religion.

The strain between the two parties reportedly began in April 2018 when Parinsenkova discovered that the classroom she worked in had LGBT books. The educator claimed in her lawsuit that she expressed concern and was given “an informal accommodation that she would not be required to read books to the children promoting same-sex marriage.”

Four years later, in April 2022, the location’s director uncovered Parisenkova’s religious beliefs and reported her to the human resources department, according to the lawsuit. The director, who is a lesbian, reportedly took “personal offense” at Parisenkova’s religious beliefs.

“Bright Horizons did not engage in any negotiations and made no attempt whatsoever to determine whether a reasonable accommodation could be reached,” the lawsuit reads. “Instead, Bright Horizons issued a counseling memo with false statements, terminated her life-insurance benefits, required her to complete retraining in diversity issues, and encouraged her to resign her position.”

Attorney Paul Jonna, an attorney with the Thomas More Society, said in a press release that Parinsenkova’s termination was “unethical” and “blatantly illegal.”

“Make sure you know what books are on the shelf in our children’s care programs and schools,” Jonna said. “This is a clear-cut case of one of the largest childcare employers in the country having anti-religious workplace policies that promote indoctrination of young children with the LGBT agenda.”

Parents in a small Spanish community are planning on suing local lawmakers after they discovered an event aimed at the town’s children had exposed them to highly sexual “games.”

The event, which took place on July 22 in Vilassar de Mar, a small municipality in Catalonia, included activities in which children were instructed to imitate sexual positions taken from the kama-sutra with each other, form genitals from play-dough, and learn about hardcore drugs.

The city’s youth department had organized the event, known as a “gincana” – a typical Spanish game involving completing a series of challenges. It was targeted at youth as young as 12, but allowed adults up to 30 years of age to participate.

Parents who had trusted their children to what they believed would be an age-appropriate youth council-led event were shocked to learn what their children had been asked to do when they arrived to pick them up.

Amongst the disturbing activities, the children informed their parents they had been taught to place condoms on bananas, which they doused in honey and cream before licking.

Another game involved placing a balloon on a girl’s rear as a boy was asked to pop the balloon by simulating a sexual act.

Parents were also outraged when they discovered that pictures of their children holding up cards with images of positions from the kama-sutra were uploaded to Instagram. According to one parent, a picture of her 11-year-old was posted to the event’s social media without permission.

Hardcore drug use was also discussed at the event. The children were made to play a game in which they were asked whether an illicit drug was “injected or inhaled?” If they answered incorrectly, water mixed with flour was poured over them.

One mother told La Vanguardia, “We feel unprotected, these people have done what they wanted, going over the line.”

Another parent told media she worried that recordings of their children engaged in highly suggestive positions may have been made or disseminated. “We do not know if recordings of the children made by anyone may be circulating,” said the mother of a 13-year-old attendee. “[sic] What assurance do we have that they are not in the hands of pedophiles?”

The City Council of Vilassar de Mar has issued a statement defending the activities for minors, asserting that children consume pornography from a young age.

“We have detected that teenagers aged 11, 12, 13 watch pornographic content and build an image of sexuality based on what they see in porn … We try to break this dynamic by being open to talking about these issues so that they can share them with adults and try to prevent them from building a sexual imaginary with sexist, violent and unhealthy attitudes,” the statement read.

Yeah, well – who made the porn? Who made porn legal in the first place? This was illegal in every Christian country until like, the 1970s. That’s not really that long ago.
