The group includes unaccompanied minors awaiting reunification with their families in the U.S. as well as Afghans at risk of Taliban retribution because they fought for the former U.S.-backed Afghan government, said Shawn VanDiver, head of the #AfghanEvac coalition of U.S. veterans and advocacy groups and the U.S. official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The “unaccompanied minors” can be reunited in Afghanistan when we deport their families!

The U.S. decision also leaves in limbo thousands of other Afghans who have been approved for resettlement as refugees in the U.S. but have not yet been assigned flights from Afghanistan or from neighboring Pakistan, they said.

“Afghans and advocates are panicking,” said VanDiver. “I’ve had to recharge my phone four times already today because so many are calling me.

“We warned them that this was going to happen, but they did it anyway. We hope they will reconsider,” he said of contacts with Trump’s transition team.

VanDiver’s organization is the main coalition that has been working with the U.S. government to evacuate and resettle Afghans in the U.S. since the Taliban seized Kabul as the last U.S. forces left Afghanistan in August 2021 after two decades of war.

The report identifies four main reasons why Brussels residents choose to reproduce less, or not at all. A portion of residents are choosing to have fewer children out of fear of an uncertain future caused by “economic, geopolitical and climate instability.”

Women want to have babies later and later, and while this reduces the amount of babies born to young mothers, the decline is not offset by a high natality rate among older women. The overall rate therefore decreases.

The existence of this decree was only revealed by the Italian press on January 12th.

The sovereign state of the Vatican was created by the 1929 Lateran Agreement between Benito Mussolini and Pope Pius XI. Putting an end to the ‘Roman question,’ i.e., the gradual disappearance of the Pope’s temporal power in Italy during the process of unification of modern Italy, these agreements established an independent territory of 44 hectares in the city of Rome, over which the Pope has sole sovereignty. The rules for entering and leaving this territory are precise and restrictive, and the decree of December 2024 reinforces them even further.

The new decree targets “anyone who enters the territory of the State of Vatican City by violence, threat or deception,” i.e., by avoiding or evading security systems. Violation is punishable by one to four years imprisonment and a fine of between €10,000 and €25,000.

Aggravating circumstances include if the offence is committed using firearms, if the person seeks to disguise his or her identity, or if the intrusion is made by a group of people. Another aggravating factor is when an individual enters the state’s territory at the wheel of a vehicle, forcing a border checkpoint.

The African migrants were enthusiastically welcomed by activists upon arrival, however when the event was done they refused to leave.

That is so funny.

This is the same thing that happened to America when we invited these blacks for a cotton-picking event. They refused to leave.

The theatre, owned by Paris’s Socialist-led council, is still occupied as of Tuesday, January 14, and its management has reported that more migrants have shown up to live in the building, increasing the total number of occupants to around 300. It is now facing bankruptcy as it has gone weeks without revenue from ticket sales and has been forced to cancel all shows until at least January 24th.

Management called on local authorities to help find a different housing situation for the migrants. “The sanitary conditions are deteriorating day after day and the teams are facing this situation alone,” it stated. “Although this occupation is forced, it is unthinkable for the Gaîté Lyrique to throw these people out onto the street in the middle of winter.”

One of the managers who is the daughter of Algerian migrants herself stated “They are ruining my business.”

“They hang around outside my terrace, smoking joints and fighting among themselves. Not only do we no longer get theatregoers because the theatre is shut but we don’t get passers-by either. They’re being frightened away by all these young men,” she said.

The Paris council claimed they could not find any other housing options for the migrants and called on the French government to deal with the migrants, however President Emmanuel Macron and his cabinet reportedly ignored the request and do not wish to get involved.

The migrants have all claimed to be unaccompanied minors under the age of 18, however many are known to local authorities who have refuted this. “This is an illegal occupation of a building by recognised migrants,” the regional authorities said in December.

A Welsh Refugee Council (WRC) video showing schoolgirls welcoming refugees to Wales has sparked outrage after resurfacing amid the furious grooming gangs row.

The video shows two schoolgirls highlighting the help that asylum seekers can expect from the WRC and other agencies in a video produced by their school in South Wales.

Though the video was taken down by the school just days after it was posted last year, copies of it have now caught the attention of senior politicians – as well as tech tycoon Elon Musk.

Musk claimed that the footage was being used to “entice migrant men to come to Wales”.

In the video, one of the girls says: “Wales is seen as a nation of sanctuary. We welcome anyone and everyone. We recognise your skills and talents.”

While the other adds: “The Welsh Refugee Council offers a lot of support.”

Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp said in response to the reemergence of the video: “It was deeply irresponsible for the Welsh Refugee Council to share a video featuring only young girls in the first place, especially in light of the long-standing grooming gangs scandal.

“It is right that they took it down, but they should never have shared it in the first place.”

But on Monday, the WRC said it was “concerned” about the spreading of “misinformation by individuals in positions of influence”, which it said could “escalate threats and unwarranted attention toward our organisation, staff and others”.

But Davies has hit back, saying: “Britain has a track record helping those in need, but schoolchildren should not be used in videos like this. I make no apologies for calling it out.”

The WRC’s chief executive Andrea Cleaver said: “In 2023, a video from a school, welcoming refugees was released. It was never intended as an advert to encourage migration and was uploaded by the school to social media to show the positivity of pupils.

“The Welsh Refugee Council would like to clarify that we did not create or commission the school video being circulated. While we were not involved in its production, we shared it as a positive example of young people championing messages of compassion and inclusion.

“In 2023, the video was subsequently taken down by the school, as were our social media messages which had shared it. What is being circulated since, are videos that people have taken of that video.”

The US Department of State has named the November 2023 riots in Dublin as an incident of “white-identity terrorism” which was fuelled by “Irish white supremacists and ultranationalists”.

Named in the latest edition of the department’s Country Reports on Terrorism, the Dublin riots were blamed on the “online spread of disinformation” by “Irish white supremacists and ultranationalists”.

The report is produced annually by the department and presented to Congress, monitoring various terrorist attacks and movements worldwide.

The riots saw the Republic named as one of six countries to have been impacted by “white-identity terrorism” (WIT) or “racially or ethnically motivated violent extremism” (REMVE).

Other countries named included Brazil, Hungary, the US, Mexico and Japan.

“In November, Irish white supremacists and ultranationalists online spread disinformation regarding the nationality of a stabbing suspect arrested after stabbing two adults and three children,” the report said.

“This anti-immigrant disinformation led to three days of white supremacist rioting in Dublin, inuring police and bystanders.”

It added that REMVE attacks constituted a “growing and transnational threat” to the US and its allies.

“REMVE actors are increasingly adept at exploiting social media platforms, online gaming platforms, gaming-adjacent platforms, smaller websites with targeted audiences, and encrypted chat applications.”

“They use these means to recruit new followers, plan and rally ideological support, and disseminate materials that contribute to radicalization and mobilization to violence.

“Attacks often are carried out by individuals who are part of anonymous online communities but lack formal ties to traditionally organized groups.”

Well, that’s a weird sentence.

Blaming this on “disinformation” is beyond the pale.

“People don’t like being replaced in their own countries because they read online that this is bad.”

Our goal is to bring concrete solidarity — food, warm clothing, medicines — and to draw attention to the violations occurring at this border.”

The group, all of whom are members of a collective known as “Balkan Routes,” claimed that while much of the focus is on the Mediterranean, “the Bulgarian border is the most violent of all.”

The group’s efforts include not only aid but also preventing illegal pushbacks by being physically present during migrant arrivals.

On Dec. 24, Bulgarian authorities detained Randone, Zito, and Speranza, accusing them of activities related to aiding illegal immigration.

“When we arrived in the woods [near the border], we immediately notified the border police,” one of the group told Italian media.

“If we didn’t do so, we would have been reported for aiding illegal immigration. Our goal was to be present when [migrants] arrived in order to prevent illegal pushback,” they added.

The action, however, was not well received by the Bulgarian authorities, and they were promptly apprehended and spent the night in a police cell.

The three teachers were released and returned to Italy on Jan. 5. Despite the warning, Randone reaffirmed the group’s determination to continue shining a light on the practices of border guards.

“The police often adopt degrading behavior towards migrants. Our physical presence is crucial to limit dehumanization.”

A man has been jailed for seven-and-a-half years for his role in the riots that swept England following the death of three young girls in Southport.

Andrew McIntyre, 39, has been jailed for seven-and-a-half years at Liverpool Crown Court for encouraging violent disorder and criminal damage following the knife attack at a dance class in Southport last summer.

He set up a far-right Telegram channel called “Southport Wake Up”, in the immediate aftermath of the knife attack in the Merseyside town on July 29 last year, Liverpool Crown Court was told on Monday.

The far-right taxi-driver was arrested with a copy of Mein Kampf after calling on “English lads” to “rise up.”

Arthur Gibson, prosecuting, said the case involved a “sinister aspect” of violence which took place in parts of the UK last summer.

He said: “It is the prosecution case that many of these seats of disorder were not simply spontaneous, or that persons coincidentally simply decided to turn up and take part.

“It is the Crown’s case that others, to a greater or lesser degree, participated in the organisation, encouragement and incitement of such gatherings, which resulted in the disorder.

“It is the Crown’s case that one such person is the defendant.”

The Southport Wake Up channel was identified by the group Hope Not Hate as a “catalyst for and origin of a series of posts” concerning incidents of violence, Mr Gibson said.

The court heard McIntyre, who has pleaded guilty to encouraging violent disorder and possession of a knife, shared content from a site called Tommy Robinson/ Britain First/ For Britain about a protest in Southport on July 30.

He also posted a map after adding: “Mosque at the top of Hart St.”

In a later post he wrote: “Rise Up English Lads. 8pm tomorrow St Luke’s Rd Southport.”

Hours before violence broke out in Southport on July 30, he posted a “clear threat to police”, writing: “Message to All…Stand in our way, even if you’re just doing your job…prepare to fall.”

The court was told McIntyre’s phone was in the area of St Luke’s Road in Southport at 7pm on July 30, and the car in which he was later arrested was also in the area when the disorder took place.

A knife was found hidden in the boot of his car and, when his home was searched, officers found weapons and a copy of Hitler’s Mein Kampf, the court heard.
