Failed left-wing politician and former Scottish First Minister Humza Yousaf has said that he is considering leaving the United Kingdom with his family as a result of the anti-mass migration riots that have erupted over the past week in Britain.

Humza Yousaf, a member of the far-left Scottish National Party (SNP) and who served as Scotland’s first minister, said that he has questioned if his family can have “an existence” in the UK. Unrest and violence broke out last week in response to the mass stabbing at a children’s ‘Taylor Swift’ dance party last week in Southport, which left three young girls dead and several others seriously injured.

Despite no riots occurring in Scotland so far, the Member of the Scottish Parliament told The News Agents podcast: “It is a strange feeling when your very sense of belonging is questioned.

“I’m about as Scottish as they come. Born in Scotland, raised in Scotland, educated in Scotland, just welcomed my third child here in Scotland, was the leader of the Scottish Government for just over a year.”

You’re not “Scottish.” No one thinks that. You don’t think that. You only say it because you know white people will pretend to believe it because they don’t want to hurt your feelings.

Yousaf went on to claim that as a child, he had been critical of his father for maintaining his Pakistani citizenship after moving to the UK over supposed concerns about perhaps needing to flee the country back to his homeland, but now he no longer considers it a “ridiculous suggestion.”

Yousaf, himself, has a history of racially divisive comments, infamously taking to the floor of the Scottish Parliament in 2020 amid the international Black Lives Matter riots that there were too many white people in positions of power in Scottish government and society.

It’s very old (very old), but still true: if I went to Pakistan and said “there are too many Pakistanis in the Pakistani government,” what would people say? I don’t know if they would laugh or just feel confused, but they wouldn’t feel guilty and start saying “you’re right, we should bring in foreigners to run our government.”

This is all ridiculous.

Even if you believed that white people are evil – which appears to be the argument here – it doesn’t mean they don’t deserve to have their own countries.

Personally, I don’t believe white people are evil, so I don’t accept the starting premise, but “white people are a uniquely evil race, and therefore no white people can have countries” is not rational.

This guy is saying “well, if you don’t like me here, I’m just going to go back to my country!” and it’s like, “okay, well, I never understood why you were here in the first place, but let me help you pack.”

The idea that it is now a threat – “I will no longer allow you whites to enjoy my company!” – is totally confusing.

Scotland’s leader Humza Yousaf resigned on Monday, further opening the door to the UK opposition Labour Party regaining ground in its former Scottish heartlands in a national election expected to be held later this year.

Yousaf is quitting as head of the pro-independence Scottish National Party and first minister of Scotland’s devolved government after a week of chaos triggered by his scrapping of a coalition agreement with the Green Party.

He then failed to secure enough support to survive a no-confidence vote, expected later this week.

“I’ve concluded that repairing our relationship across the political divide can only be done with someone else at the helm,” Yousaf said, resigning a little over a year since he replaced Nicola Sturgeon as first minister and SNP leader.

He said he would continue until a successor is chosen in an SNP leadership contest.

The party is losing popular support after 17 years of heading the Scottish government, following a funding scandal and the resignation of Sturgeon as leader last year.

This month, polling firm YouGov said Labour overtook the SNP in voting intentions for a Westminster election for the first time in a decade, raising the prospect of a reversal of the tide that swept most of Scotland’s seats in the UK parliament to the SNP in recent elections.

Labour’s resurgence in Scotland adds to the challenge facing British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s Conservative Party, which is lagging far behind Labour in UK-wide opinion polls.

Police Scotland has been overwhelmed by a flood of reports under the recently implemented draconian speech restrictions, with approximately 8,000 reports in the first week, alone, surpassing the annual total for hate crimes in general of any other year.

Law enforcement in Scotland has claimed that it “can’t cope” with the staggering number of reports flooding into police stations after the controversial Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Act 2021 came into force last Monday, criminalising the opaquely-worded “stirring up hatred” towards protected groups, such as the so-called LGBTQ2AIS community, among others.

The chairman of the Scottish Police Federation David Threadgold warned that the man-power hours required to deal with such a large number of complaints will impact the police force’s ability to deal with actual crimes, with the force already failing to solve a growing number of crimes like sexual assault, shoplifting, and car theft. Scotland has also been plagued by a drug epidemic, with the small nation having the highest drug-related deaths per capita in all of Europe.

“Police Scotland have gone public and said that on every occasion, reports of hate crime will be investigated,” he said, explaining: “That creates a situation where we simply cannot cope at the moment. Officers have been brought back in to do overtime shifts and the management of that is simply unsustainable.”

Threadgold went on to suggest that the law was being “weaponised” by the public in order to settle personal grudges against fellow citizens or to wage political feuds, while suggesting that the government encouraging the public to report instances of “hate” has clearly blown up in their face.

A journalist for BBC Scotland died after suffering a brain aneurysm at the age of 32.

Nick Sheridan collapsed while jogging and had been placed in an induced coma by doctors, according to The Telegraph. He passed away Wednesday night, over a week after the collapse happened, while surrounded by his family, his friends said.

BBC Scotland head of news Gary Smith paid tribute to Sheridan in a statement released Thursday morning.

“He was a hugely talented journalist, presenter and author—and one of those rare people who light up the lives of everyone around them. Funny, clever, kind. A lovely man,” Smith said. “Our hearts go out to his parents, who have been with him over the past ten days, to his partner, Lewis, and to all the rest of his family and friends.”

First Minister Humza Yousaf honored him during his weekly question session in the Scottish Parliament.

“Nick was an extremely talented journalist and author. He will be greatly missed. Many of us in this chamber all have been questioned by Nick quite robustly, whether it was on BBC Drivetime or any of the other programs,” Yousaf said. “My thoughts are with his family, many friends and indeed his colleagues in what is undoubtedly a very sad time for them.”

The plans, published yesterday, would make it illegal for parents to prevent a child from “dressing in a way that reflects their sexual orientation or gender identity”.

Scotland has vowed to offer asylum to gay Ugandans facing life-imprisonment under the country’s new oppressive set of laws.

Humza Yousaf, Scotland’s Minister for External Affairs, announced the plan in an open letter to UK Foreign Secretary William Hague – urging him to follow suit.

It comes just weeks before he is due to meet senior members of the Ugandan government at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this summer.

The anti-homosexuality legislation was enacted earlier this week, strengthening the country’s already strict laws relating to gay people.

President Museveni also ordered one of the country’s newspapers to publish a list of the so-called top 200 homosexuals, including some that had not identified themselves as gay.

Currently, international treaties say people must prove they have a ‘well-founded fear’ of persecution for reasons of race, religion, ethnicity or political opinion if they are to obtain asylum.

Urging Mr Hague to challenge the Commonwealth nation, Mr Yousaf wrote: ‘Scotland will play her part in providing asylum for those seeking refuge from this draconian legislation.’

Today he added: ‘The Scottish Government is deeply concerned the Anti-Homosexuality Bill in Uganda has been signed into law.

‘This is a huge step back for equality and I have written to the UK Government asking them to make the strongest possible representations to the government of Uganda.

‘I have also urged the UK Foreign Secretary to offer asylum to any Ugandans who suffer threat or persecution as a result of the legislation.

‘It goes without saying that Scotland, where possible, will play her part and assist the UK Government in providing asylum for those seeking refuge from this draconian law.’

Scottish MSP Humza Yousaf was faced with racist abuse when selling The Big Issue on streets of Glasgow last week.

Glasgow-born Humza, a vocal supporter of The Big Issue, swapped the Scottish Parliament for an afternoon as a guest vendor at his pitch outside Queen Street railway station, pictured, as part of the Big Sell-Off.

He was shocked when a racist passer-by told him to “fuck off back home”, before the man – undeterred by news cameras filming Humza’s sales stint – ranted a foul-mouthed tirade about immigrants in Glasgow at the SNP minister.

“It was shocking that this man was not deterred by the presence of cameras, and it is deeply upsetting that someone would assume Scotland is not my home because of the colour of my skin,” Humza said.

“That moment brought home to me the fact that vendors must go through similar and worse situations week in, week out.

“By selling the Big Issue they are just looking for a hand up and a way to improve their life, rather than a hand out.

“They are not beggars, I see them as business people.

“For every ignorant racist or bigot there were many good, generous Glaswegians who stopped to buy the Big Issue, or simply stopped to smile and chat.”

Paul McNamee, editor of The Big Issue, said: “One in three Big Issue vendors face verbal or physical abuse while they are working hard to earn a living selling the magazine.

“It is a tough job, as many of our guest vendors found while they were taking part in The Big Sell-Off last week.

“This abuse which was directed at Glasgow MSP Humza Yousaf was inexcusable, and sadly illustrates the sort of challenges that our vendors regularly have to overcome.”

Humza – who was taking part in his second shift as a guest vendor – brushed the incident off and went on to sell over an impressive 50 magazines in just a couple of hours in the city centre.

He was joined in the Big Sell-Off by a host of fellow guest vendors from the worlds of TV, radio, politics, media and business, including actor Greg McHugh, novelist Alan Bissett and broadcaster Shereen Nanjiani, among many others.
