A Palestinian doctor has died in an Israeli prison after more than four months in detention, Palestinian prisoner associations have said.

Dr Adnan Al-Bursh, 50, was the head of orthopaedics at al-Shifa Hospital.

The Israeli prison service confirmed that a statement published on 19 April about a prisoner who was detained for national security reasons and had died in Ofer prison was Dr Al-Bursh.

No details were given on the cause of death, and the prison service said the incident was being investigated.

But the Palestinian prisoner advocacy groups said in a joint statement on Thursday that Dr Al-Bursh’s death was an “assassination” and his body still remained in Israeli custody.

Dr Al-Bursh was the head of orthopaedics at Gaza’s largest medical facility, al-Shifa hospital, which has been raided several times by Israeli armed forces.

He was temporarily working at Al-Awada hospital in north Gaza when he was detained by Israeli forces.

Colleagues have paid tribute to the late surgeon, describing him as “compassionate” and “heroic”.

Another colleague, Dr Suhail Matar, called Dr Al-Bursh “the safety valve” for every orthopaedic department in all of Gaza’s hospitals.

“It is rare that you meet a person like him in your life, because this doctor worked all his life with dedication and used to make tremendous efforts at the expense of himself,” Dr Matar told BBC Arabic’s Gaza Lifeline programme.

He described his late colleague as someone who was never tired of working, and who was “loved by everyone and his smile never went away”.

Francesca Albanese, the UN Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in the West Bank and Gaza, said she was “extremely alarmed” by news of Dr Al-Bursh’s death and called on the diplomatic community to take concrete measures to protect Palestinians.

Gaza’s Hamas-run health ministry said in a statement that Dr Al-Bursh’s death meant that the total number of medical workers who had been killed by Israel since the 7 October attack now stands at 496.

It added that 1,500 others had been wounded while 309 had been arrested.

Medical facilities are protected under international law, but Israel says Hamas uses them as cover for military operations – something Hamas denies.

A disgraced children’s doctor whose blundering led to the death of a six-year-old boy with Down’s syndrome in an NHS hospital has been allowed to continue practising medicine in Britain.

A row has broken out over the decision not to strike off Hadiza Bawa-Garba, 41, who wrongly diagnosed Jack Adcock as having gastroenteritis – when he had the life-threatening condition of sepsis.

She then mistakenly placed the boy under a ‘Do Not Resuscitate’ order when he suffered a cardiac arrest. Although the DNR error was spotted by a junior colleague, Jack died 90 minutes later.

Inquiries revealed Bawa-Garba had confused Jack with another patient who was aged two and had been discharged earlier from Leicester Royal Infirmary.

But this week at the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service in Manchester, Bawa-Garba escaped with a 12-month suspension for misconduct after claiming she had shown ‘extreme remorse’ following the tragedy in February 2011.

The hearing was told the DNR mistake did not cause Jack’s death but he died ‘significantly sooner than he otherwise would have’.

Two senior colleagues said Bawa-Garba was ‘an excellent and competent doctor.’ She did not give evidence at the tribunal.

In a Facebook post Jack’s mother Nicky accused the doctor of ‘murder’ and added: ‘Cannot believe it we are absolutely disgusted and I’ve made it very clear I wish to appeal. Do you want her treating your child because in 12 months. I bet she is smiling right now. Killed my son through neglect.’

Earlier panel chairman Mr Miran Uddin told Bawa-Garba: ‘The purpose of fitness to practise proceedings is not to punish a doctor for past wrongdoing but to maintain proper standards in the profession and to protect the public. The tribunal must look forward, not back.

‘Your clinical failings, serious as they were, are capable of being remedied. You continued to practise without further incident after these events and there were no concerns prior to this event.

Jack, who lived with his parents and younger sister Ruby in Glen Parva, Leicester, was said to be a ‘lively and energetic’ boy who attended a mainstream primary school.

But on February 18, 2011, Jack showed symptoms of diarrhoea, sickness and breathlessness and was admitted to hospital’s children’s assessment unit.

Although he had sepsis and urgently needed antibiotics, Bawa-Garba – originally from Nigeria – wrongly diagnosed him as having gastroenteritis and failed to look at an X-ray for over three hours which showed he had signs of the highly dangerous infection.

She also did not review ‘seriously abnormal’ blood tests results which showed the youngster was suffering organ failure and later allowed him to be mistakenly given medication usually used to treat high blood pressure.

That evening Jack suffered septic shock and a ‘crash call’ went out to medics to revive him only for Bawa-Garba to call off CPR because she mistakenly believed there were instructions not to resuscitate him.

Efforts to help Jack were halted for up to two minutes until the junior colleague picked up the mistake but by then it was too late.

“See, goyim? These were just minor mistakes, no need to worry next time you take your filthy little Nazis to the hospital.”

At the time of the court case Jack’s mother Nicola said: ‘Never in a million years did we expect our son to die. He went into hospital with sickness and diarrhoea and never came home.

‘Jack was neglected from the moment he entered Leicester Royal Infirmary. It makes me so angry to think my son could still be here today if they had done their jobs right.

‘I will never forgive myself for taking him there. I could have cared and looked after him better than they did.’

His father Vic added: ‘I had to watch my little man go. I miss him every day and I will do for the rest of my life. Since we lost Jack, I’m a changed person. I wish I could forgive them but at the moment I can’t and I don’t think I ever will.’

Pro-tip for not dying: Next time you or someone you care about is so sick that you have to go to the hospital, pick the White doctor. If there’s no White doctor, pick the Yellow doctor. If there are neither White nor Yellow doctors, go home, get lots of rest, drink tea and eat liver with onions and lots of pickles.

A registered nurse in Wyckoff was arrested after he allegedly sexually assaulted a victim who was mentally and physically incapacitated, police said Friday.

Radcliffe Rose, 51, was arrested on Thursday after an investigation by the Wyckoff Police Department and Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office revealed he engaged in sexual conduct with the victim, the prosecutor’s office said in a statement. Police conducted the investigation on Wednesday. It’s not known what the relationship was between Rose and the victim.

Rose, a Maywood resident, was issued his nursing license in May 2014, state records show. As of Friday, his license, which expires in May 2018, was still active. He previously received a pharmacy technician license in November 2008, but expired in August 2010. It was never renewed.

It pointed to the deaths of three babies aged between seven and 13 months in Bloemhof in North West province this week, apparently caused by drinking contaminated tap water. Scores of others were also hospitalised.

“The Bloemhof municipality ‘lost its capacity’ to maintain the sewer plant,” the independent think-tank said in a statement quoting its Chief Executive Frans Cronje that accompanied its paper entitled “Killing Babies”.

“There is no doubt that the officials responsible for these deaths were appointed, at least in part, on grounds of race-based affirmative action and that a direct causal link therefore exists between the policy and the deaths.”

Cronje said that in all the commentary on the deaths there was no mention of affirmative action, because that would “cross the barrier of political correctness forced on our country by the ideology of race-based empowerment”.

To make their point, the illegal immigrants have gone on a hunger strike outside an Illinois hospital demanding free organ transplants for themselves and their fellow undocumented comrades.

This insanity is taking place outside a prestigious Chicago-area hospital, according to news reports, but it’s only a matter of time before it spreads nationwide. Dozens of demonstrators and hunger strikers have gathered outside the medical facility chanting through bullhorns and waving large signs to protest the hospital’s policy that patients must be in the U.S. legally to qualify for an organ transplant procedure.  One large, yellow sign captured in a newspaper photo says “we are also human!”

All of the protestors are from Mexico, according to the news report, and all need either a liver or kidney transplant that they can’t afford to pay for. They obviously don’t have health insurance or they wouldn’t be staging this show. So the illegal aliens want Uncle Sam to step up the plate and pick up the tab. Kidney and liver transplants costs hundreds of thousands of dollars and could run into the millions if there are complications.

The U.S. government already spends upwards of $4 billion a year to provide the millions of illegal immigrant who live here with medical care, according to figures released by a nonpartisan organization dedicated to researching both legal and illegal immigration. An elderly man died three days after an agency nurse left him lying on the floor with a broken leg, a tribunal has heard.

Sarah Msika failed to spot the pensioner was injured when she visited his home near Norwich, Norfolk, it was claimed today at the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Msika allegedly left the patient’s incontinent wife lying in her own faeces in the kitchen propped up against a table leg.

Healthcare assistants found the couple lying ‘in the same positions’ on the floor later that day and rushed them to hospital.

The elderly man died three days later while his wife passed away six months after the incident.

When Msika visited the couple on August 3, 2011, and did express concerns about the absence of food and the smell of urine in the house.

David Clark, for the NMC, said: ‘On that visit both Patient A and her husband, Patient B, were siting in chairs and behaving normally.

‘Msika visited the couple again on the following day, and was met with a very different scene.

‘She found both Patient A and Patient B on the floor in different rooms. Patient A was in the kitchen, sitting partly propped up either against a table leg.

When did birth become something that women looked towards fearfully?  When did American women start to look outward for confirmation about their body and baby (doctors/midwives) instead of looking within and using their intuition and innate knowledge of their bodies?  Why have we been taught to fear our bodies and not understand them as women?  We teach girls that their periods are an inconvenience, and that they just need to insert a tampon and pretend it’s not happening.  When and why did women give away their power to birth all on their own, to somebody that didn’t know their baby or body as much as they did?  After all the woman carrying the baby knows her body and baby best.  As I started to dig deep back into the past I was shocked to find out what I have.  There has been such an element of fear injected into women and men since an early age regarding childbirth. Girls are not taught about their bodies in a healthy and empowering way.  I remember being a little girl and watching women give birth on the television.  How awful! I thought.  Why in the world would any woman want to go through such pain?  Also the fact that the woman was in the hospital hooked up to all of these machines, made it look like she was potentially going to die and good thing that modern medicine was there to save her. Oh how backwards this is!  Birth is not a medical event.  Of course there are pregnancies that are high risk, and monitoring is important in those cases, but not every woman’s pregnancy is high risk.  In fact most aren’t.  Do cows need midwives/doctors, and constant monitoring?  Do cats?  Do dogs?  Some might argue that humans are different, but why are we the only mammals that seem to have forgotten how to birth?

Today most births in America are attended by a Dr. (obstetrician) in a hospital setting, but let’s consider a quick history of birth in America.   In the 1700′s most births were attended by midwives.  American Indians had their own midwifery traditions as well.  In America midwifery, laws varied greatly from state to state, and still do to this day.  In some states it is illegal for a midwife to attend a home-birth.   In the last half of the 1800′s medicine was becoming “professionalized” in the U.S.  This then brought competition.  At the beginning of the 20th century midwives attended only half of all births, and the doctors attended the other half. Two reports were published (1910 and 1912) stating that obstetricians were poorly trained, and in order to improve their knowledge they recommended all births be moved to the hospital. Thus began the gradual abolition of the midwife.  (yeah! that totally makes sense) Poor women were urged to attend charity hospitals which would serve as training grounds for new doctors, and this is when women gave their power away, and let their bodies be used as test subjects.  Of course they were hearing this advice from “expert doctors” and subsequently ignored their intuition.

Twilight sleep was introduced in 1914.  Twilight sleep was a combination of morphine (for relief of pain) and scopolamine, which acted as an amnesiac so the woman would have no memories of the rape…I mean “birth”.  Wealthy women opted for twilight sleep frequently as it was a sign of “medical progress”.  This later proved extremely detrimental to mothers and babies.

1915- Joseph DeLee described in the most important obstetric textbook of it’s time that birth was a pathological process that damages mother’s and their babies “often and much”.  He urged people to view birth properly as a “destructive pathology” and not a normal function.  (for fucks sake! this is setting the stage for trauma) He wanted to save women from “evils nature to labor”.  He recommended the use of sedatives, ether, episiotimies (the cutting of the perineum and vagina) and the use of forceps.

Many Dr’s will perform episitomties without even telling the woman (after all, she’s numb right?).  These can leave lasting problems for the woman, they can become infected, and even cause a fistula, which makes her incontinent, and subsequently ruins her life (unless she can get fistula surgery) Not to mention the traumatic mental, and emotional scars.

Some might argue that the medicalization of birth made things safer because of all the stories we hear about women dying in childbirth years ago.  What they are forgetting to look at is the state of those pregnant women’s lives that were dying.  Many lower class women were overworked, and underfed, which led to complications in childbirth.  For a higher status woman, the use of corsets from age 11 deformed the development of the pelvis, along with the fact that higher status women were told to stay inside all day because they didn’t want to get sun on their pale white skin (not much walking or fresh air). Shame, fear, and guilt were also infected into the minds of young women, which, yes, you guessed it… fucks things up completely!

American hospital birth is still operating under the paradigm set up by Dr. Lee (scary!) 66% of hospital revenue is from childbirth.  66%!!!!! Fear can really be good for making money.  Just a little stat: Between 1915 and 1929 infant mortality increased 41% after the obstetrical interference of birth.  Hmmmmm.  Yeah, that totally makes sense.  They are just making things “safer”. Yeah, awesome! Not to mention the trauma experienced by mother and baby, which is NEVER forgotten, even on the deepest subconscious levels.

A typical hospital birth:
The woman will come into the hospital in the early stages of labor and will be told to undress and wear a hospital gown.  Why the hell does she need to go to the hospital, let alone wear a hospital gown?  She has now assumed the role as “patient” and this effects the way the woman is viewing her birthing experience from the get go.  She is usually wheeled in a wheelchair into her laboring room where she is then hooked up to IV’s monitors and can only usually lie on her back because of all of the machines she is hooked up to. This is telling the woman that her labor is not “safe” that she needs to be monitored because childbirth is unsafe and things could go horribly wrong.  She is then subjected to vaginal exams from a complete stranger that can be painful and extremely invasive.  They need to check “how far along she is”.  This solidifies for the woman that her body is not her own and that she can be poked and prodded whenever  the “professionals” see fit.  The “medical experts” then leave the room until things “progress”.  If things are not “progressing on time”, then pitocin (a synthetic from of oxytocin that stimulates contractions, or as I like to call them “rushes”), is added to her IV.  The rushes now are coming on very strong, hard, and close together.  This becomes overwhelming to the woman and painful.  She then might ask for an epidural because the pain is so intense.  The epidural has many side effects.  It can cause a fever, or a woman can have an allergic reaction to it.  For many women it will numb the pain but also numbs them from the waist down so they are unable to feel anything.  They are checked again, and when dilated to 10cm (cervix has opened all the way) are told to start pushing. This proves to be very difficult for the woman because she can’t feel anything!!!  This pushing phase can last a long time, and again if the woman does not progress in the way that hospital guidelines state, she is either given an episiotomy and the baby is pulled out by a vacuum, or she is sent in for a C-section, a completely unnecessary C-section.  C-sections are major surgery.  Major surgery means a long hospital stay which means lots of money the hospital can bill, and don’t we all know how hospitals love to bill.  ($200 for a fucking Tylenol, really?)  A lot of the times at a hospital birth, the baby is taken away from the mother to be put under a warmer and tested, poked, and prodded.  If the mother has had a C-section she will sometimes have her baby taken away and put in a nursery while she recovers.   Since the baby has no one to bond with, they bond to the machines.  Maybe this why we see so many machine-like people walking around.
