In the aftermath of the storming of the US Capitol, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas called for a wide-reaching pro-democracy initiative spearheaded by Washington and its EU allies.

“We are ready to work with the United States on a joint Marshall Plan for democracy,” Maas told the German news agency DPA on Saturday.

The original Marshall Plan was a US economic campaign launched in 1948 to rebuild 18 war-torn Western European nations. The US-allied West Germany was among the biggest beneficiaries.

On Saturday, Germany’s Maas echoed worldwide condemnation of Donald Trump supporters who had breached the US Capitol building while the lawmakers were working to certify election results.

“We must not yield any room to the enemies of liberal democracy,” Maas said. “This applies not only in the USA, but also here in Germany and Europe.”

At some point, they are going to have to admit that the term “democracy” doesn’t have anything to do with voting or “government by the people” and instead refers to a system of brutal domination of the peasants by a tiny elite minority.

Maas did not provide details on the idea. However, he pointed to President-elect Joe Biden’s call to create a network of democratic nations. The German foreign minister also greeted Biden’s pledge of political reconciliation within the US following the Trump presidency.

“Without democracy in the US, [there is] no democracy in Europe,” asserted Maas.

German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas said Sunday that an “unscrupulous” President Donald Trump was trying to sow doubt about the US presidential election by urging his supporters to vote twice, which is illegal.

Germany announced on Tuesday that it would take in 50 children from migrant camps on the Greek islands of Lesbos and Chios.

The transfers could begin next week, the interior ministry said in a statement.

1,600 vulnerable minors in Greek camps.

However, Maas said they were putting their plans on hold because of border restrictions imposed because of the coronavirus crisis.

“Apart from Luxembourg, we are the only ones who are still willing to accept minors,” he said.

Germany has just passed a law that will fine social media sites like Facebook millions of shekels if they fail to delete speech hatreds.

Social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter could be subject to fines in Germany if the companies don’t remove or block hate speech from the platforms within 24 hours, according to a law passed in Germany today.

Penalities could reach as high as €5 million (roughly $5.7 million, £4.4 million or AU$7.4 million), according to the Bundestag, the German parliament.

The act also requires companies to maintain “an effective and transparent procedure for dealing with complaints, which is readily recognizable, directly accessible and constantly available to users,” according to a statement from the Bundestag.

Heiko Maas, Germany’s federal minister of justice and consumer protection, said the law is meant to “prevent a climate of fear and intimidation.”

“In an open society, in a democracy, disputes and debate are indispensible,” Maas said in a speech to the Bundestag. “Freedom of expression also includes sharp and ugly expression. … But freedom of expression ends where criminal law begins.”

Maas’s statement on this is completely insane. WTF is he even trying to say?

Germany’s Justice Minister on Tuesday put forward a new draft law calling for social networks like Facebook to remove slanderous or threatening online postings quickly or face fines of up to 50 million euros ($53.15 million).

“This (draft law) sets out binding standards for the way operators of social networks deal with complaints and obliges them to delete criminal content,” Justice Minister Heiko Maas said in a statement announcing the plans.

Failing to comply could result in a fine of up to five million euros on the individual deemed responsible for the company in Germany and 50 million euros ($53 million) against the organizations themselves, he said.

In 2015, Germany pressed Facebook, Twitter and Google’s YouTube to sign up to a code of conduct, which included a pledge to delete hate speech from their websites within 24 hours.

The new draft rules turn these into legal obligations to delete or remove illegal content, to report regularly on the volume of filed complaints and they also demand that sites make it easier for users to complain about offensive content.

Facebook, Google and Twitter were not immediately available to comment on the draft law, elements of which had been signaled previously.

Germany already has some of the world’s toughest hate speech laws covering defamation, slander, public incitement to commit crimes and threats of violence. The government is seeking to update these rules for the social media age.

Maas and other members of conservative Chancellor Angela Merkel’s ruling coalition have called for social networks to be held to higher content standards demanded of media broadcasters instead of hands-off rules applied to telecom operators.

His party took devastating losses in polls across the country, losing to the Alternative for Germany (AfD) by a landslide in the last state election of Saxony, where he held his speech.

Maas’ party recently published plans to build 350,000 entirely new homes for “newcomers” to solve the “demographic crisis”. In his speech he claimed that “the people shouting ‘traitor’ don’t even know what’s happening to them”. But it appears that they know very well what is being done to them.
The German people are confused and angry about why they’re told that they have to be frugal and avoid having children because of the immense cost while simultaneously working their fingers to the bones to fund a foreign invasion.
