Emma MacLean was walking with her girlfriend Tori in Halifax, Canada when a group of about ten ‘middle eastern men, believed to be from Syria’ came towards them.

As the women passed, one of the men allegedly made a rude comment about Emma, prompting her girlfriend tori to stand up for her.

Tori said: “Hey that’s my girlfriend,” MacLean told Canadian news outlet CTVNews.

Tori followed them and told them “that is not OK” – before the group set upon Tori.

Yeah, women think they are very powerful and can just boss me around.

They apparently don’t know what the word “Islamic” means.

Emma said: “I see Tori being pushed on the stairs right in front of the BMO Centre, and they are cement stairs, and she’s on her back – that’s when all the men started punching and kicking them.”

Emma said police spoke to the men involved and that they blamed the fight on the women.

The rest refused to cooperate or give their IDs, Emma said.

Police have said the incident is under investigation and no charges have yet been brought.

A young mum was left to die in the street by her boyfriend after he threw a mobile phone at her hitting her in the neck.

Levi Ogden, 26, collapsed to the floor after being struck by the device launched by aggressive Lloyd Birkby.

He then left her to die in the street following the incident in Halifax town centre, Leeds Crown Court heard today.

Birkby, 27, of Langdale Street, Elland, denied murder and admitted manslaughter.

He also pleaded guilty to common assault in relation to one of Ms Ogden’s friends that night and denied a further common assault allegation.

The pleas were accepted at a previous hearing and he was sentenced today.

Prosecution Dafydd Enoch QC told the court that CCTV captured the moment that Ms Ogden was struck in the neck by a mobile phone.

He said: “The defendant saw something on the floor, which was a dropped mobile phone.

“He was a few short ft away. He picked up the phone and threw it at the deceased which struck her in the neck.

“When confronted by her friend Courtney Bland he shoved her to the ground and walked away across the road.”

The court heard the Levi was ‘left dying in the street by the defendant’.

Mr Enoch said: “She was helped in the street by street angels, paramedics and then by the police.

“Mr Birkby was aggressive in his manner at the time and was clearly under the influence of drink.”

Ms Ogden, a mum to two children, was rushed to hospital but later died.

Medical evidence found that she was struck in the neck which caused a tearing in the neck which caused a haemorrhage and bleeding into the area of the brain, which in turn lead to cardiac arrest.

The court heard that there was a history of domestic violence between the couple.

A policeman is among 16 men charged as part of an investigation into allegations of historic child sexual exploitation.

West Yorkshire Police said the charges relate to alleged offences against three teenage girls in Halifax between 2006 and 2009.

The alleged victims were aged between 13 and 16 at the time, the force added.

One of those charged in the investigation, Amjad Ditta, 35, is a police constable based within West Yorkshire Police’s Protective Services Operations, it said.

He has been suspended from duty and is set to appear at Bradford Magistrates’ Court on January 6 2020 alongside the other 15 men, a spokesman added.

A masked evil thug has been jailed for the murder of a teenager at a Halloween party.

Michael Thompson, from Huddersfield, stabbed 17-year-old Jamie Brown on October 27 after a disturbance broke out between his gang and others outside the party in Halifax.

Days earlier he had been watching graphic and violent videos online of people being stabbed.

He looked at one entitled ‘very graphic – man is stabbed to death by thugs in jail‘.

Yes, I’m sure those violent videos he watched encouraged the black to commit this murder.

The fact that he belongs to a barbaric race of cannibals and cutthroat pillagers is an insignificant contributing factor.

Following the stabbing, the violence continued and a member of Thompson’s gang shouted: “I’ll f***ing kill you.”

Another said: “I’ll shank (stab) you.”

Leeds Crown Court heard that Thompson, who was 16 at the time, went to the party with friends from Huddersfield and was “intent on violence.”

They tried to get into the party when an argument started between them and Jamie and his friends, who were already inside.

The court heard that Jamie weighed only 10st 6lbs and was not a threat to anyone. He was described as a “lovely and gentle boy”.

Thompson was armed with a 12inch knife and one of his friends had a hammer which had his initials on it.

During the disturbance on 27 October, Thompson stabbed Jamie in the lower abdomen. Despite the best efforts of paramedics to save him, Jamie sadly died a short time later.

He was jailed for life with a minimum sentence of 17 years.

Thirty-three men have been arrested in relation to allegations of sexual abuse against a child in Halifax, West Yorkshire, between 2002 and 2005.

All men, now aged between 30 and 40, have been released under investigation, whilst homes in the West Yorkshire borough of Calderdale, where Halifax is located, Kirklees, and Bradford are being searched, reports the Halifax Courier.

Police said Monday the multiple arrests across the region were part of an ongoing operation that began in October 2018.

A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said, “The investigation centres on allegations made by one woman of sexual abuse committed against her as a child predominantly in the Halifax area between 2002 and 2005.”

Detective Inspector Laura Nield, of Calderdale District Safeguarding, said, “Protecting and safeguarding children is a top priority for the force and this operation forms part of West Yorkshire Police’s ongoing commitment to investigating both current and non-recent sexual offences against children.

Police are hunting two men involved in the rape of a woman who had just got out of a taxi.

The victim left the taxi at Cheltenham Gardens in Halifax between 1.25am and 1.50am on Saturday December 15.

She was approached by two males.

One of them raped her while the other stood nearby.

The first suspect is described as Asian, around 5ft 10 to 6ft, with a stubbly beard. He was wearing blue jeans and a beanie hat, possibly red with a white trim.

The second male is also described as Asian, in his late 20s, around 5ft 8 to 5ft 10 with a black beard.

Detective Inspector Gary Stephenson, of Calderdale CID, said: “We have been carrying out extensive enquiries into this incident and are now appealing for anyone with information to get in contact with officers.
