A 48-year-old Greenville man has been arrested in a stabbing that injured another man on a downtown sidewalk early Saturday, police reported.

Greenville Police Department officers charged Eric Mitchell of 1639 Deejay Lane with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

Police report he stabbed 23-year-old Mason Luke Monk about 2:25 a.m. along Cotanche Street in the area of Club 519 and Chico’s Mexican Restaurant.

The department reported that Mitchell and Monk exchanged words on the sidewalk and Mitchell stabbed Monk in the side.

Mitchell was later captured on downtown security cameras walking along Cotanche Street, and police released images on Saturday in an effort to identify him.

According to Pitt County Detention Center records, he was booked into the jail on Sunday under a $200,000 bond.

A Greenville man accused of shooting a man to death at a Walmart in Berea on Friday remains behind bars Saturday.

Braylon Lamar Morris, 33, was denied bond during a hearing Saturday at the Greenville County Detention Center. He is charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

The Greenville County Coroner’s Office said Michael Jason Deck, 45, of Pickens, died inside the Walmart store at 6134 White Horse Road after suffering gunshot wounds to the head and torso.

During the bond hearing, Mike Deck, the victim’s father, said he wanted to know why the suspect “would just completely murder my son in the middle of Walmart? What was the reason?“

Deck told Morris he hopes he pays for it. Morris replied that he already is.

Morris has faced similar charges in the past, according to court and other records

In 2015, he was arrested on charges of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. The charges were dismissed, according to court records.

In Greenville and Spartanburg counties, Morris has faced drug charges, a charge of assault with intent to kill, and misdemeanor charges dating back to 2004, records show.

Customers in the Walmart described the shooting scene as chaos that left them and others scrambling for safety.

At a recent press conference, Greenville Police Chief Ken Miller identified the person responsible for the October 8, 1988 murder of Alice Haynsworth Ryan, 80, at her home located at 16 Woodland Way. The arrest and charges are the culmination of nearly 31 years of investigation.

51-year-old Brian Keith Munns of Americus, Georgia has been arrested and charged with: murder, possession of a weapon during violent crime, armed robbery, and burglary.

In March of 2017, the GPD formed its Cold Case Unit, which began an extensive review of the Ryan murder case file. In August of 2017, detectives collaborated with State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) agents reviewing physical evidence collected from inside the house and Mrs. Ryan’s car, a 1967 Ford Galaxy, which was recovered soon after the murder a short distance from the home.

Upon re-analyzing an item recovered from the interior of the car, SLED analysts were able to extract a full DNA profile capable of being uploaded to the South Carolina State DNA Database and the FBI’s Combined DNA Index System; more commonly known as “CODIS”.

In November 2017, GPD investigators were notified of a “CODIS Hit” to a matching DNA profile. The DNA profile belonged to Munns, who was also a registered sex offender.

Normally, I’d assume that meant the teen tried to purchase drugs from the nogs, and the nogs shot him to steal his money.

If the drug was weed, though, the teen might have been the seller, and the nogs shot him to steal his drugs.

Either way, the teen relaxed around blacks – and paid dearly for it.

Investigators have arrested two more teens in connection with the shooting death of 16-year-old Joshua Meeks, an honor roll student and athlete at Mauldin High School.

The Greenville County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 16-year-old juvenile and charged him Thursday night with murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, armed robbery and grand larceny, according to arrest warrants.

His name is not being disclosed due to his age, said Lt. Ryan Flood, a spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office. The boy’s mother brought him to the Sheriff’s Office on Thursday and he was interviewed and arrested, Flood said.

The juvenile was denied bond when he appeared Friday in front of a magistrate at the Greenville County jail.

Investigators made the first arrest in the case early Thursday when they charged Sosa Mandiez Croft, 18, with murder, grand larceny, armed robbery and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. On Friday, the Sheriff’s Office charged Lyric Mone Lawson, 18, with accessory after the fact to murder.

Croft was arrested inside his apartment. He refused to come out when deputies showed up and a S.W.A.T. team was activated, Flood said. Deputies went inside the apartment and found Croft hiding under his bed before the S.W.A.T. team arrived, Flood said.

Meeks, who played on Mauldin High School’s varsity football team, was found dead near a roadway in Laurens County Thursday morning. Lawson, who graduated from Mauldin High in 2018 according to the school district, assisted with the concealment and transportation of the victim’s body, according to an arrest warrant.

Meeks died of a gunshot wound Tuesday night, according to the Greenville County Coroner’s Office. After he was reported missing Wednesday morning, Mauldin police officers found his blood-stained vehicle parked outside Croft’s apartment.

Flood said the fatal shooting stemmed from a drug deal. Investigators have declined to specify which drug the transaction involved.

According to the report, the murder was drug related.

I suspect the kid met up with the coloreds to purchase drugs from them, and the coloreds shot him just to steal whatever little money he had in his pockets.

Two teenagers have been arrested and charged with murder in the shooting death of a 16-year-old.

Robert Tyler Butler, of Easley, was found dead Saturday on Saluda Dam Road in Pickens County.

Eric Silverio Mondragon, 19, was arrested at an Oconee County residence late Thursday night. He was charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to arresting documents.

Jalen G’Vonte Hines, 18, of Greenville, turned himself in at the Pickens County Law Enforcement Center earlier Thursday night, deputies said. Hines is also charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

An investigation revealed the shooting happened during a transaction of money for drugs in Easley, deputies said. The shooting happened 11 hours before Butler’s body was found on the side of the road, deputies said.

A Greenville police officer is recovering after a suspect assaulted her in the downtown area during the evening of Saturday, December 22.

GPD confirms to FOX Carolina that the call for an officer down came in around 9:15 p.m. at Main Street near East Coffee Street. EMS was dispatched to the scene.

On Sunday, GPD identified the suspect as 30-year-old Wallace Ingram McKinnon. According to police, McKinnon was being arrested on an outstanding warrant for an assault and battery from earlier in the day. However, police say he became agitated and insisted “Ain’t nobody going to take me in”.

At that point, GPD says McKinnon violently assaulted officer Nikki Morton by hitting her in the face, causing her to fall backwards into a metal bench and into the concrete.

GPD then says other officers on scene subdued and restrained McKinnon before taking him to the Greenville County Detention Center. He remains behind bars on a total bond amount of $15,000.

Ofc. Morton, who GPD identifies as a 10-year veteran of the department, was taken to an area hospital by ambulance for treatment for several injuries, including a broken jaw. Her injuries are not life-threatening, but GPD says Morton requires surgery along with ongoing treatments in the coming days and weeks.

McKinnon’s charges now include aggravated assault & battery along with assaulting an officer while resisting arrest. GPD says more charges are possible.

Nearly two months after a kidnapping that left an Upstate couple brutalized, Greenville County deputies said they have made five arrests but are still searching for additional suspects.

The first two arrests were announced on Nov. 8. Sheriff Johnny Mack Brown announced that Mark Allen Wright oh Travelers Rest and Jack Corris of Foreman of Pahokee, FL had been charged.

The arrests come following the brutal robbery and kidnapping of Warren and Ann Willis, which occurred on Sep. 25.

“In all my years, I don’t remember an assault this brutal,” Sheriff Brown said.

Warren, the owner of several W.E. Willis Grocery stores, was kidnapped at the Travelers Rest location on Highway 414 back by five suspects. He was forcibly taken home, where he and Ann were tied up and beaten. Ann was also shot and stabbed in the attack, arrest warrants state..

Ann Willis remains in the hospital in critical condition, Brown said.

On Nov. 14, deputies announced Ronald Edmond, 20, and Kenyatta Foster, had been arrested in the case. Deputies said the suspects were arrested Tuesday after a Nov. 7 search warrant on Woodvine Way implicated them as accessories after the fact.

A man accused of shooting four people in a Greenville commercial area in 2013 was sentenced to 97 years and eight months in prison Tuesday after pleading guilty in Pitt County Superior Court.

Lakim Anthony Faust, 24, pleaded guilty to four counts of attempted first-degree murder, three counts assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and seven counts of assault on a law enforcement officer.

Faust appeared in the main courtroom at the Pitt County Courthouse. Pitt County District Attorney Kimberly Robb  prosecuted the case and public defender Ann Kirby represented Faust. Judge Jack Jenkins presided.

Law enforcement officers, victims and their families also attended the proceedings. Evidence presented for Jenkins to weigh for sentencing included video from security cameras in the area and from an officer who was wearing a camera.

Faust, who has a histroy of mental illness, was experiencing a psychotic episode during the shooting, according to testimony, but understood the consequences of his actions and could not plead insanity.

Police said at the time of the crime that he used a shotgun to shoot one man at 11:44 a.m. on June 21, 2013, in the parking lot of Kellum Law Firm on Greenville Boulevard. Then he walked across the street to the Walmart parking lot and allegedly shot three more men at close range before police shot him.

Faust was indicted in Sept. 2013 by a Pitt County grand jury on 14 charges, including four counts attempted first-degree murder and three counts assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

The indictments said Faust shot the four men because of their “race, color, religion, nationality, or country of origin.”

Faust is black; the four victims are white. A search warrant shows police seized several books on the Muslim faith from Faust’s residence as evidence after the shootings.

Court documents also revealed Faust previously had been an adjudicated delinquent for an offense that would have been a felony if it was committed by an adult.

Maryland records show he was charged with attempted first-degree murder when he was 14, and the case was handled in juvenile court.

On the morning of June 21, Faust armed himself with a pistol-grip shotgun and more than 100 rounds of ammunition, left his apartment at 217 Hartford St., Apt. 3, and walked to the law firm and Walmart with the intent to inflict mass casualties, police said. Officials originally reported they thought the gunman fired at random.

Tim Edwards, 64, a GEICO insurance adjuster, was outside the law firm when he was shot in his face and left arm through the window of his car. The gunman then walked across Greenville Boulevard, entered Walmart parking lot and sprayed more pellets. Vernon Leggett, 69, Carroll Oakes, 70, and Haywood Whichard, 50, were injured.

In three of the four shootings, Faust’s alleged actions left his victim with serious injuries that are “permanent and debilitating,” the indictments said.

Edwards was hospitalized 40 days and underwent surgery to repair his face, he said last month. He lost many teeth on the right side of his face in the shotgun blast and had to get a titanium jaw. Edwards also suffered a stroke and lost some mobility in his right hand.

Pellets struck Leggett in his forehead and hip. He said he laid down in front of vehicles after the first two shots, hoping the gunman would leave, but, instead, the shotgun was brought closer.

“That’s when he shot me in the back,” Leggett said in 2013. “It was pretty traumatic. It was like a high-voltage electrical wire and the shock wave just going through your whole body.” In addition to a silver dollar sized hole in his back, he lost a kidney, his spleen and gallbladder, and spent one month and one day in the hospital.

Oakes was struck at least twice, he said during a People’s Baptist Church service held earlier this month that recognized the first responders.

After exiting his vehicle and walking toward Walmart, “I heard the loudest noise I’d ever heard, and immediately this hand felt like it was on fire,” Oakes said, holding his bandaged hand out in front of church-goers. The gunman shot Oakes again, and he was hospitalized for 12 days.

Whichard said he only suffered superficial injuries.

Following the attacks, police tracked Faust to Hooker Road near Walmart and shot him multiple times after he allegedly pointed his gun at officers.

For the first time since his arrest, the suspect in last summer’s Greenville shooting spree has appeared on camera.

A grand jury indictment said the shooting was racially motivated. All four victims were white men, while Faust is black.

Faust was seriously wounded by Greenville police after they confronted him on Hooker Road.

Until today, most of Faust’s court appearances have been in secured locations, away from the media. He is being kept at Central Prison in Raleigh while awaiting trial.

The brief administrative hearing this morning set his trial date for January 20th of next year.

It has been revealed that Lakim Faust, who open-fired on a number of people, hitting four, at a law firm and a Walmart parking lot in Greenville, North Carolina, targeted victims based on their race.  Apparently, he had a plan to kill as many White people as possible.

Three of the four people shot suffered permanent and debilitating injuries.

Faust, who is black, picked out his victims based on their race, according to the indictments. The documents didn’t specify why Faust wanted to shoot white people, and police have not talked about why he picked out his targets.

Police said Faust’s first victim on June 21 was an insurance adjustor in the parking lot of a law firm. He then crossed a five-lane highway and shot three more people in the parking lot of a Walmart, investigators said.

Faust was shot by police and is now in jail, charged with four counts of attempted murder.

These racially motivated attacks against our people are now a daily occurrence, and it is happening more and more that the clear racial motivation is being verbalized by the perpetrators.

The media’s refusal to address this epidemic implies a complete inability to address it – there is no viable way to spin it.  Ultimately, this may be a good thing.  People are becoming increasingly aware of the problem, on the ground, and when they look at the media and see that it is not being addressed, they are likely to lose faith in the media, which is still rattling on about poor little Trayvon Martin.
