The article doesn’t give a lot of details about the man, but from my personal studies into the subject of shoe-sniffing, I estimate there’s a 99% chance he’s a weeb, and a 50% chance that his favorite anime is Bakemonogatari.

Fox News:

A man in Greece was given a suspended one-month prison sentence after his conviction for disturbing his neighbors by repeatedly sneaking onto their properties and smelling their shoes.

Addressing the court in the northern Greek city of Thessaloniki on Thursday, the 28-year-old man said he was unable to explain why he entered his neighbors’ homes to get a whiff of their shoes and said he was embarrassed by his behavior.

He said he had no intention of breaking the law or harming anyone during the incidents, according to the Associated Press.

The defendant’s neighbors also testified that he never displayed any sign of aggression when he visited during the night.

The man was ordered by the judge to attend therapy sessions.

Shortly before dawn on Oct. 8, the man was arrested in the small town of Sindos after police were called to a home by a neighbor who found the man in his front yard sniffing his family’s shoes that had been left outside to air out.

Most shoe-sniffers are perfectly harmless people.

There’s a small minority of extremists that give the rest of them a bad name, but the vast majority are good people.

After all, pacifism is a core tenet of shoe-sniffing.

Just think about – if all of us spent all day sniffing each other’s shoes, we’d have no time to do wars and murders and stuff.

We’d be living in utopia.

Greece is the Latest Country to Throw Billions Into the Gooey Pit of “Low Birthrates are an Economic Issue” https://www.anglinarchive.com/2024/10/07/greece-is-the-latest-country-to-throw-billions-into-the-gooey-pit-of-low-birthrates-are-an-economic-issue/ Mon, 07 Oct 2024 00:00:00 +0000

Unfortunately, it’s been well-established that breeding has zero relationship to economics, and is instead entirely the result of women preferring to go around getting fucked by strangers instead of becoming wives and mothers.

You can spend infinity money on “programs” and nothing at all will change.

You should have spent that money on hiring rape gangs and some people to do something at abortion clinics.

Life Site News:

Greece plans to spend 20 billion euros on economic incentives aimed at halting the country’s population decline, which Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has called a “national threat.”

The nation that has been referred to as the “cradle of civilization” now has a fertility rate of 1.3, one of the lowest in Europe, and far below the rate of 2.1 that is needed to maintain the population.

In fact, the country now has twice as many deaths as it has births. Last year, Mitsotakis shared during a demographics conference that Greece recorded one birth for every two deaths in 2022.

On September 30, a demographic plan to incentivize having children, totaling 20 billion euros, was presented to Greece’s government. The money will be spent on tax breaks, day care vouchers as well as the establishment of day care centers in workplaces, and cash benefits rewards for raising children. Families with three or more children will receive greater compensation.

Family and Social Cohesion Minister Sofia Zacharaki said on October 2 that “the ultimate goal” of the plan “is to improve the standard of living.”

She noted that, according to current forecasts, by 2070 the biggest population group will be people over 90 years old.

The country is one of many undergoing different phases of population decline headed toward collapse. Greece’s particularly low birth rate may be further exacerbated by the economic hardships plaguing the country, which in July had the second-highest unemployment rate in the EU.

Demography experts such as data analyst Stephen Shaw, the creator of the documentary “Birthgap,” are skeptical about whether economic incentives can reverse the trend of population decline. He has noted that even the Roman Empire, in its later stages, enacted policies aimed at increasing birth rates, including taxing the childless.

According to Shaw, “No society in history has been known to come out of” the “spiral” of population decline.

In his film “Birthgap,” he has documented how declining birth rates in the U.S. and around the world are being driven by an “explosion” in childlessness as opposed to smaller family sizes.

This trend of childlessness began to crop up in the 1970s. For example, in Japan in 1974, one in 20 women were childless. By 1977, the ratio was 1 in 4, and by 1990, it had reached 1 in 3, a statistic that held in 2020. Shaw has shared that most countries have likewise now become “childless nations,” where one-third or more people will become “childless for life.”

Here’s the thing: fertile young women already have the ability to get unlimited free money if they want to have kids: it’s called marrying an older man with money.

Claiming this is an economic problem when there is literally exactly zero data to back that up beyond women saying that on polls is pathological.

You can have women’s rights or a replacement birthrate. You can’t have both. It’s that simple. As an absolute matter, when given the choice between having a family and running around getting fucked and having a ball, women will choose the latter. They will only consider children when they are in their late 20s and they realize that their ability to run around getting fucked by high value men is running out.

Is Afghanistan a really economically stable country? Where they live in caves?

Because they have a birthrate that is more than double replacement.

Maybe it’s because they don’t have women’s rights, huh?

I always hated the saying “you can’t have your cake and eat it too,” because you can eat a cake if you have it, and what else would you do with it? Go to the hospital and use it to smother some Jew-loving boomer? Despite that stupid saying, however, somethings are incompatible with one another, and women’s rights are incompatible with sustaining population levels.

The “economic argument” here is so obviously wrong that it is just incredible that people all over the world keep saying this.

Israel is not facing any pressure at all, because the only country with the ability to pressure them is the United States.

The United States is controlled not just by Jews, but by the Israeli government.

Just even discussing Israel and America as separate entities is ridiculous.

Reuters:

Israel is not facing sufficient pressure to end the war in Gaza and the escalation in Lebanon is a minefield that the international community may not be able to deal with, Greece’s foreign minister said on Monday.

Greece was elected as a member of the United Nations Security Council for 2025-2026 earlier this year, and Athens believes the country’s historical ties with the Arab world and Israel give it credibility to act as a peace broker.

“It seems that there is no effective pressure upon Israel. We are friends of Israel, and we’re strategic partners of Israel, and we’re trying to be as open and sincere with them,” George Gerapetritis told Reuters in an interview on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.

…

“The truth is that at the moment there is a continuous, very strong reaction on the part of Israel,” he said after a meeting with European Union and Arab foreign ministers.

It’s not even a “reaction,” it’s just an action.

Greece Now Allows Companies to Require Sixth Day of Work Every Week https://www.anglinarchive.com/2024/07/01/greece-now-allows-companies-to-require-sixth-day-of-work-every-week/ Mon, 01 Jul 2024 00:00:00 +0000

For Americans: Europe functions on all of these government regulations which would be alien to us. It’s all sort of like socialism. We have regulations, but they are all just a scam by corporations designed to destroy small businesses (like OSHA and minimum wage and whatever). It’s more comparable to the US social security system, it’s just much broader than that.

It’s better in some ways than America’s system, worse in others. Some certain rights are protected. They can’t fire you for political reasons like in the US, for example. They have to give you health benefits and vacation days and maternity leave and whatever other shit. I don’t really know the details, but Europeans are big on this “workers’ rights” stuff and apparently there are real world benefits because they are constantly fighting about it with their governments (which are always trying to Americanize the system but without actually lowering taxes).

But then, the government can just decide you have to work an extra day.

The Guardian:

Companies in countries worldwide may be toying with the idea of implementing shorter working weeks, but in Greece employees have been told that, henceforth, they can put in a sixth-day of labour in an unorthodox step aimed at turbocharging productivity.

After outpacing other Europeans in terms of economic growth, the nation once at the heart of the continent’s worst financial crisis has bucked the trend again, introducing a 48-hour working week. The measure, decried as “barbaric” by unions, goes into effect from Monday.

“It makes no sense whatsoever,” said Akis Sotiropoulos an executive committee member of the civil servants’ union Adedy. “When almost every other civilised country is enacting a four-day week, Greece decides to go the other way.”

The pro-business government of the prime minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, says the initiative was made necessary by the twin perils of a shrinking population and shortage of skilled workers. Prior to announcing the legislation – part of a broader set of labour laws passed last year – Mitsotakis described the projected demographic shift as a “ticking timebomb.” In an unprecedented exodus, about 500,000 mostly young educated Greeks are estimated to have emigrated since the near decade-long debt crisis erupted in late 2009.

Another great benefit of Greece’s entry to the EU.

Seriously.

“Yeah so we joined this German international cartel and now everything costs more and also we’ve got these loans and we can’t pay them back and can’t even really pay the interest so we have to cut your benefits. Also, all the college educated young people moved to Germany, so now you have to work six days a week or basically everyone is going to starve.”

Greece joining the EU will be remembered as one of the stupidest things any government ever did.

Enjoy the, you know, the subway system or whatever it is Germany bought you.

The six-day scheme, officials say, will only apply to private businesses providing round-the-clock services. Under the extended working week, staff in select industries and manufacturing facilities will have the option of working an additional two hours a day or an extra eight-hour shift, rewarded with a top-up fee of 40% added to the daily wage.

…

Trialled four-day week programmes have repeatedly shown increased levels of productivity with researchers attributing the outcome to improved levels of focus. Belgium in 2022 legislated to give employees the legal right to spread their working week over four days instead of five, and pilot schemes have been carried out in countries including the UK, Germany, Japan, South Africa and Canada.

Greeks already work the longest hours in Europe, putting in an average 41 hours a week according to the EU’s statistics agency, Eurostat, although surveys have also proved they get paid much less. The left-wing opposition has frequently decried “Bulgarian salaries in a country of British prices”, claiming the phenomenon has only exacerbated the brain drain.

This is utterly ridiculous.

As we always say: Europe entered “post-scarcity” in the year 1950. There is zero reason people should be working themselves to death.

A 40-hour week is already twice what European peasants worked in the Middle Ages.

Greek Coast Guard Accused of Being Mean to Invaders, Allegedly Killing Dozens of Them https://www.anglinarchive.com/2024/06/18/greek-coast-guard-accused-of-being-mean-to-invaders-allegedly-killing-dozens-of-them/ Tue, 18 Jun 2024 00:00:00 +0000

These people are invading the country.

Under Just War Theory, the military has a right to kill them.

(I understand it’s more complicated than that, but actually, it’s not really.)

The Guardian:

A former Greek coastguard officer has described as “clearly illegal” the actions of colleagues who abandoned nine migrants at sea in one of 15 alleged pushbacks from Greek islands or territorial waters that reportedly killed dozens of people.

In an interview with the BBC, Dimitris Baltakos, the Greek coastguard’s former head of special operations, refused to speculate about footage the broadcaster showed him, after earlier denying the coastguard would ever be told to do anything illegal.

But during a break he was recorded by a BBC camera telling someone out of shot in Greek: “It’s very clear, isn’t it. It’s not nuclear physics. I don’t know why they did it in broad daylight … It’s obviously illegal. It’s an international crime.”

The footage he described, shot by the Austrian activist Fayad Mulla and first published on the website of the New York Times, showed 12 people, including women and babies, being led down a Greek jetty on to a coastguard boat, then later abandoned to drift on a raft.

Fayad Mulla, professional parasite

The group were rescued by the Turkish coastguard but the incident is one of more than a dozen between 2020 and 2023 analysed by the BBC that it said had resulted in a total of 43 deaths.

Activists have long accused the Greek government of forced returns – pushing asylum seekers out of Greek territorial waters back towards Turkey, or taking them out to sea again after they have reached Greek islands – which is illegal under international law.

Very sad

The government has consistently denied doing so. On Monday a spokesman, Pavlos Marinakis, said: “We monitor every publication, every investigation, but I repeat: what has been reported is in no way proven.”

The Greek coastguard told the BBC, whose investigation was carried out with the migrant support organisation Consolidated Rescue Group, that it strongly rejected all accusations of illegal activity.

…

In several incidents, migrants said they had been put on inflatable rafts or dinghies without motors that then deflated, or even seemed to have been punctured. One Cameroonian man said he was “hunted” after landing on Samos in September 2021, in an incident previously investigated by the Guardian, Lighthouse Reports, Mediapart and Der Spiegel though interviews with witnesses and analysis of classified documents, satellite imagery and social media accounts.

“The police came from behind,” the Cameroonian man said. “There were two policemen dressed in black, and three others in civilian clothes. They were masked, you could only see their eyes.” Along with two others, he was put on a Greek coastguard boat.

Two were thrown directly into the water, the man said, including an Ivorian man who said: “Save me, I don’t want to die … and then eventually only his hand was above water, and his body was below. Slowly his hand slipped under.”

Yeah, well, buddy, nobody wants to die. Nonetheless, everyone does at some point.

I would shed some tears for you, but I stopped buying tissue paper when I learned it was filled with PFAS.

Frankly, I don’t know if the Greeks did this stuff or not. I don’t care if they did, and I support it, but I don’t know if I believe it.

My thinking is it’s more likely to be made up than not, but also, Greeks are funny people, and the idea that some group in the coast guard was like “let’s start just fucking killing these apes” is not beyond belief.

However, no real proof is offered here. These are all just allegations, and they are more or less impossible to investigate, so there is really nothing here to even discuss. The allegations just amount to baseless rumors.

Every time invaders drown, it’s your fault

Greece: Faggots Whine After Golden Dawn Leader Released Early from Prison https://www.anglinarchive.com/2024/05/05/greece-faggots-whine-after-golden-dawn-leader-released-early-from-prison/ Sun, 05 May 2024 00:00:00 +0000

Hopefully he can… unify the far-left and far-right against Israel?

Is that plausible in Greece?

The Guardian:

The unrepentant founder of Greece’s neo-Nazi Golden Dawn, who insisted followers addressed him as the Fuhrer, has been released from prison four years into a sentence of 13 and a half years, having been convicted of operating a criminal organisation that posed as a political party.

Nikos Michaloliakos, a Holocaust denier and admirer of Adolf Hitler, was allowed to return to his home in Athens this week although his “conditional discharge” was only made public on Thursday.

The news sparked fury among members of the country’s anti-fascist movement. “It’s a scandalous decision,” said Petros Constantinou, the chief coordinator of the front, known as Keerfa. “It did not need to happen and will give the green light to fascists to regroup and continue attacks ahead of the European elections.”

He said operatives of the far-right, ultra-nationalist party still ran branches in Thessaloniki despite it being officially disbanded.

The party was banned because that’s what happens in a democracy

Michaloliakos, an anti-vaxxer who spent a large part of his imprisonment in a rehabilitation clinic after becoming seriously ill during the coronavirus pandemic, was sentenced at the end of a landmark trial to 13-and-a-half years in jail for crimes ranging from violent attacks on immigrants, to weapons offences and the murder of an anti-fascist musician.

Greek media reported his release application had been vigorously opposed by a state prosecutor. The magistrate had argued that despite meeting the criterion of serving three fifths of his jail term, once pre-trial detention was taken into account, the 67-year-old showed no remorse for his actions and should not be set free.

The discharge, agreed by a judicial council in the central town of Lamia, stipulated that Michaloliakos was banned from fraternising with other far-right activists and would have to present himself at a local police station once a month. He was also forbidden from leaving the greater Athens region of Attica.

Yeah, so… he’s not allowed to do anything.

He probably will do something, and go back to prison.

Greece is cracking down on a bunch of other right-wingers as well:

The move came days after Greece’s supreme court banned another extremist party, the Spartans, from contesting next month’s European elections, arguing the organisation, which has 11 MPs, “aims at the weakening and demise of the democratic political system, particularly through the use of violence or incitement to violence”.

Several of its deputies face charges of electoral fraud, with the fate of the Spartans’ parliamentary group expected to be decided soon by a special court.

They just invent bizarre charges and ban right-wing groups. This has been going on for a decade, at the behest of the Germans.

There is no way to have a country with free elections and also be a part of the EU. German women will come in and start telling you what to do.

Greece just keeps banning parties to defend democracy

Greece: Church Bans Politicians Who Backed Anal Marriage https://www.anglinarchive.com/2024/03/06/greece-church-bans-politicians-who-backed-anal-marriage/ Wed, 06 Mar 2024 00:00:00 +0000

Previously: Colonial Democracy: Once Christian Greece Legalizes Anal Marriage, Anal Adoption

This is a lot different behavior than we’re seeing from Pope Boy-Fucker.

Pope Boy-Fucker is doing mock gay marriages inside of the Church, and demanding that the whole world go along with it (except the blacks, because their culture is against gay sex).

The Greeks are shutting it down.

AP:

Backlash from the Orthodox Church of Greece against a landmark law allowing same-sex civil marriage intensified Tuesday, with a regional bishopric imposing a religious ban on two local lawmakers who backed the reform.

Church authorities on the northwestern island of Corfu accused the two opposition lawmakers of committing “the deepest spiritual and moral error” in voting for the law, which was approved with cross-party support on Feb. 15.

Greece was the first Orthodox Christian country to legalize same-sex marriage. The socially conservative Church of Greece had strongly and volubly opposed the reform proposed by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis ‘ center-right government, preaching against it and pressuring lawmakers to reject it.

“For us, these two (local) lawmakers cannot consider themselves active members of the Church,” a statement from the bishopric of Corfu said Tuesday.

This isn’t Roman Catholicism, faggot-lovers.

The Greeks are old school.

It added that they should be excluded from the key Christian rite of communion, abstain from any Church events and not be accorded formal honors by Church functionaries at official events or parish gatherings.

“We exhort them to repent for their impropriety,” the statement added.

…

The Corfu bishopric’s statement followed a similar move last month from Church officials in Piraeus, the port of Athens, targeting local lawmakers who voted to legalize same-sex marriage.

This is actually how you fight.

It’s not really that hard.

You just have to take a stand, and hold it.

Greece is a Christian country, and these faggot-enablers being banned from the church is going to have a massive effect.

And I just have to say again: compare this to what the Pope is doing, trying to force everyone to do rimjobs on little boys.

Note:

The Pope went mask-off, so the Daily Stormer is doing the same.

The Pope is a heretic, he is a boy-fucker.

This is intolerable.

Anyone defending this Pope and his anal agenda is going to Hell. Jesus didn’t say “yeah, gay sex is wrong, but you can do it if you follow the rules of the Pope.” That is insane and you are mentally ill if you believe that.

Of course, I don’t encourage anyone to quit the Catholic Church, or anything like that. But, like the Bishops who are standing up and demanding this Anal Law be repealed, and the priests who are calling for the Pope to die soon, you have to stand against this. If your priest supports the Pope and his satanic anal agenda, you should go to a different church.

I would not advise anyone to ever attend a church where the priest is not actively opposing this faggot mania of the faggot Pope.

BREAKING FROM ATHENS: We have same sex marriage in Greece! 🇬🇷🏳️‍🌈👨‍❤️‍👨👩‍❤️‍👩 pic.twitter.com/u5Mg8RTzky

— 🍉 Steven W. Thrasher, PhD, CPT (@thrasherxy) February 15, 2024

There comes a time in every nation’s history when it’s time to get down and dirty. It’s time to really ram ass. It’s time to give over young boys to spend their lives as sex slaves to sadistic homosexuals.

This is a true part of the natural progression of societies towards the dawn of the utopian age.

Man will not be perfected until every boy’s anus has things shoved into it.

CNN:

The Greek parliament on Thursday passed a law legalizing same-sex marriage, in a landmark victory for human rights in Greece and making it the first majority Orthodox Christian country to establish marriage equality for all.

The decision, supported by 176 out of 300 lawmakers in parliament and with 76 against, follows months of polarized political and public discourse, and has been welcomed as a long-awaited vindication by the country’s LGBTQ+ couples.

“This is a milestone for human rights, reflecting today’s Greece – a progressive, and democratic country, passionately committed to European values,” Greece’s Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said in a post on X following the vote.

So, it’s a German colonial project? Isn’t that what “European values” means? Being forced to accept the whims of the homos in Berlin?

I don’t think that would sit well with the average Greek on the street.

But that is why progress has to be forced on them, just as various things must be forced into the anuses of young boys.

Andrea Gilbert a founding member of Athens Pride, now approaching its 20th year, told CNN: “We started as an invisible, marginalized community. We continued to vote. Paid our taxes. Campaigned. The legislation provides a legal basis to further build on. It is particularly significant for young couples.”

Parental and children’s rights are a cornerstone of the legislation, which will allow same-sex couples to adopt and receive full parental recognition.

…

A recent poll carried out by Metron Analysis showed that although 62% of respondents said they were in favor of same-sex marriage, 69% were against same-sex parenthood. Surveys directed exclusively at young respondents showed higher support rates.

Yes, of course everyone opposes it. It’s very difficult for people to accept progress, and there is a lot of mindless hatred toward homosexual men who want to kidnap young boys and shove things up their assholes.

But this is what democracy is all about: having things forced on you, against your will. That goes for laws and objects into your anus.

If public opinion was the basis for government policy, we’d still be living in backward, anti-democratic, patriarchal societies.

Greece: “Conservative” Prime Minister Wants to Legalize Anal “Marriage,” Let Faggots Kidnap Children https://www.anglinarchive.com/2024/01/14/greece-conservative-prime-minister-wants-to-legalize-anal-marriage-let-faggots-kidnap-children/ Sun, 14 Jan 2024 00:00:00 +0000

I wonder if this guy has a dog in the fight.

His face sure as hell looks like that’s the case.

The Guardian:

The Greek prime minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, appears to be facing one of his most daunting challenges yet after a pledge to legalise same-sex marriage ignited fierce debate in the Orthodox Christian country.

Throwing his weight behind an issue still prone to provoke extraordinary emotion, not least among his own MPs, Mitsotakis acknowledged he would have to use his skills of persuasion to push through the reform as opposition mounted within his centre-right New Democracy party.

“I, and all those who believe in this legislation, must convince our parliamentarians and subsequently those who may still have a negative stance,” he said in his first interview of the year with the country’s public broadcaster ERT. “What we are going to legislate is equality in marriage, which means the elimination of any discrimination based on sexual orientation. It is not something radically different from what applies in other European countries.”

The leader’s intervention, six months after securing a second term in office with a landslide victory “to reform the country”, underscores just how sensitive the issue of gay rights remains in Greece. In a society regarded as one of Europe’s most socially conservative, Mitsotakis, who belongs to New Democracy’s moderate faction, not only faces the disapproval of his own deputies, but stiff resistance from the state’s powerful Orthodox church. Clerics have repeatedly warned that approval of same-sex marriage would be a first step towards the LGBTQ+ community assuming parental rights, going so far as to suggest it would lead to the dismantlement of Greek society.

“Children are neither pets nor accessories,” its governing body, the Holy Synod, said in a recent circular distributed to dioceses. “No social modernisation and no political correctness can trick the natural need of children for a father and a mother.”

The Metropolitan of Piraeus, Seraphim, who had previously threatened to excommunicate lawmakers if they voted in favour of legalising same-sex unions, went further, calling homosexuality “an abuse of the body” and a “great sin”.

Father Seraphim, Metropolitan of Piraeus

On Thursday the front pages of Estia and Dimokratia, two rightwing dailies, opined that the proposed law could threaten the government’s parliamentary majority and even prove to be Mitsotakis’ “Waterloo”.

But the prime minister, who said he had not only “read up and studied” the topic but given it a lot of thought, said Greece would not be legitimising surrogate parenthood.

“We won’t change the law on assisted parenthood,” he said, addressing the issue for the first time publicly on Wednesday evening. He emphasised that same-sex couples, just like straight people, could continue to adopt children. “The idea of women who are turned into child-producing machines on demand … that is not going to happen. We will not experiment with more advanced ideas.”

Weighing into the debate with its own proposed legislation earlier this week, the main opposition leftist Syriza party, which is led by Greece’s first out gay party leader, Stefanos Kasselakis, insisted that surrogacy should be considered an innate parental right.

Stefanos Kasselakis, faggot Soros agent parachuted straight into the presidency of Greece’s biggest opposition party

Kasselakis, who assumed the helm of the party in September, made a point of marrying his longtime American partner, Tyler Mcbeth, in the US in October. Within weeks of his unexpected election to the party leadership, the former banker spoke of the couple’s desire to have children through surrogacy. “These are issues solved in other countries, but not in Greece,” the Greek American wrote on Facebook. “That’s why I entered politics. To stir stagnant waters, to awaken consciences, not to caress them in their sleep.”

Mitsotakis, who also faces opposition from leading cabinet ministers, said he had been moved to address the issue mainly because the children of gay people were not recognised under Greek law.

“There are children. I don’t think anyone doubts this reality: that homosexual couples have children and these children are not going to stop existing, they are not going to vanish. But these children do not have equal rights,” he said, highlighting the example of a non-biological mother in a lesbian relationship having no legal access to the couple’s child in the event of her partner falling ill. “She has no rights. The child will go to an institution … A child born abroad cannot become a Greek citizen because, very simply, we don’t recognise [same-sex] marriage in Greece.”

As we all know, these faggots “adopt” little boys, and then they pass them around for all their friends to anally rape.

Everyone knows that happens, and is what this is all about (why else would faggots want children?), but everyone supports it because of tolerance.

It sure does seem that these “gay fathers” prefer “sons,” doesn’t it?

The Guardian:

Greece’s first openly gay political party leader says he was deliberately trying to “stir stagnant waters” and tackle the taboo subject of same-sex couples having children when he announced he and his partner planned to become parents through surrogacy.

Weeks after his unexpected election to the helm of the main opposition left-wing Syriza, Stefanos Kasselakis insisted his comments had aimed to give the issue visibility in a nation where LGBT rights were rarely publicly discussed.

“Love makes the family. These are issues solved in other countries, but not in Greece,” the Greek American businessman wrote on Facebook late on Friday. “That’s why I entered politics. To stir stagnant waters, to awaken consciences, not to caress them in their sleep.”

Whether through adoption or surrogacy it was crucial that the desire of people who loved each other but could not easily have children was recognised, he said.

The 35-year-old was responding to the ferocious backlash he has faced since declaring that he and his American husband, Tyler McBeth, wanted to enlarge their family by having sons.

“Tyler and I would like to expand our family with two boys, Apollon and Elias, with a surrogate mother because we would like each of our personalities to be transferred to the children,” he said in a televised interview aired late on Thursday.

Criticism has not only come from social conservatives in a society heavily influenced by the powerful Greek Orthodox church but progressives in Syriza who accused them of misogyny and narcissism.

It’s definitely narcissism. It’d be hard to think of anything more narcissistic than wanting to clone yourself so you can sexually molest yourself.

By the way, they keep saying this election was “unexpected.”

Maybe, but it shouldn’t be a surprise.

From his Wikipedia page:

Kasselakis was born in Marousi in 1988. His family is originally from the village of Skines in Chania. He grew up in Ekali and attended Athens College. At the age of 14 he won the silver medal in the Archimedes math contest of the Greek Mathematical Association. He then received a scholarship to attend the Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts, US, and he later graduated with a B.A. in International Relations from the University of Pennsylvania, and a B.Sc in finance from the Wharton School of the same institution. While he was a student he volunteered for Joe Biden’s campaign during the 2008 Democratic Party presidential primaries.

In 2009 he worked at the back-office “risk management department” of Goldman Sachs. He also worked at the think tank of the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, D.C. and later founded Swift Bulk shipping company.

This guy spent half his life in America campaigning for the Democrat party, in between jobs at Goldman Sachs and CSIS, and then moved back to Greece earlier this year and all of a sudden became the head of the country’s second biggest party.

I don’t know why anyone wouldn’t expect that.

You never should have tolerated this, Greeks
