Climate protesters allegedly glued themselves to the frame of a painting in Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum in Glasgow.

Supporters of the climate change group Just Stop Oil also allegedly spray painted the group’s logo onto the walls and floor of the gallery earlier today.

Police were called to the scene and the museum has been closed early for the day by staff as officers deal with the alleged incident.

Two of the protesters are said to have stuck themselves to the frame of an 19th century painting by Horatio McCulloch called ‘My Heart is in the Highlands’.

In a statement posted to the group’s website, the activists called for “the government to end new oil and gas and for art institutions to join them in the civil resistance”.

The action comes as the UK Climate Change Committee, the government’s independent advisory body on climate policy, releases its 2022 progress report to parliament.

The report finds “major failures in delivery programmes towards the achievement of the UK’s climate goals”.

The area around the painting was cordoned off before the museum closed and police have been spotted standing guard at the entrance.

A spokesperson for Glasgow Life said: “On Police Scotland advice, Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum has closed early today, due to climate protestors inside the museum. Glasgow Life Museums’ security and conservation teams are currently working with the police to ascertain the extent of any damage. We will update on reopening as soon as possible.”

It will be interesting to see how fully socialized people actually are when things really start getting rough.

Things got pretty rough with the coronavirus hoax, and people continued to put an obviously fake threat before their real lives. But they were still relatively comfortable. Things are about to get very uncomfortable.

Will people continue to believe in obvious hoaxes which can be easily disproved?

A photo of 200 homeless people queueing in freezing temperatures and snow for a soup kitchen in Glasgow has prompted an outpouring of anger.

One volunteer from the Kindness Homeless Street Team said “this has to end”, as the group experienced one of its busiest ever nights on Monday.

With temperatures plummeting as low as -6C, hundreds of people were forced to wait in line to receive a hot meal.

Graeme Weir, who works for the project, likened the scenes to those in an Eastern European country “decimated by years of Communist rule”.

He shared the image on Facebook, and said: “This makes me so angry. This has to end.

“I know some of these people personally and most of them are good people who have just hit a wee bump in the road.

“We as a civilised and caring nation need to step up.”

Glasweigian Laura McSorley, 37, started up Kindness Homeless Street Team as a small venture feed homeless people in 2019 – when she says she had just £5 in her pocket.

Demand increased dramatically when the first lockdown began last March, leading her team to move to large-scale operations, providing hot meals to those on the street four nights a week.

Alongside her 60 volunteers, Laura has handed out tens of thousands of meals. She has also helped 150 people in finding a home.

After the COVID-19 outbreak began, the Scottish government introduced emergency measures to move the vast majority of rough sleepers into temporary accommodation such as hotels and bed and breakfasts.

While rough sleeping is at a record low due to those measures, many charities are concerned that the funds are not addressing the multiple problems associated with homelessness.

According to Ms McSorley, some of the people who visit their soup kitchen on a daily basis are only receiving a small box of cereal and a piece of fruit from the government to last them the entire day.

How can a person refer to the modern West as a “civilized” society with a straight face?

It’s ludicrous.

Tens of millions of Americans are now relying on government food already, and true hell on earth hasn’t even begun.

Listen to me: snowy food lines are awaiting all of us.

The economic collapse is real and unfortunately, global warming isn’t.

Western civilization is silly, but very soon, that silliness will be no laughing matter.

When the fallout of this coronavirus lockdown finally hits, we’re all going to be dependent on the government to feed us. And they’re probably not going to be especially efficient at doing so.

A 16-year-old Scottish boy was left in serious condition and had to be hospitalized after a gang of “Asian boys” assaulted him, dragged him to the ground, and stamped on his head in the city center of Glasgow.

Following the brutal attack, the teenager was left with serious injuries and had to be immediately transported to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he “remains in a stable condition”, according to a report by the Scottish Police.

In their report, the Glasgow Police have appealed for information from the public on the suspects who they’ve described as “Asian boys aged 15-18 years old”, all of whom had slim builds.

According to the appeal, the attack occurred “around 7:50 p.m. on Friday, 28 February, 2020 on Argyle Street at its junction with Jamaica Street near to McDonald’s and KFC.”

As of this report, none of the “Asian” attackers have been arrested.

It could have been worse for her.

I’m sure those bins were packed to the brim with butter knives, teaspoons and other confiscated kitchenware. Had the haji decided to kill this woman afterwards, he’d have had no shortage of extremely blunt weapons to choose from.

A failed asylum seeker who grabbed a drunk woman off the street and carried her to a bin storage area before raping her has been caged.

Hasan Garzouli, 27, from Algeria, was convicted of raping the woman – who was a stranger – at a bin storage area behind a fast food outlet.

The harrowing incident happened at the junction of Argyle Street and Mitchell Street, Glasgow, on September 23, 2018.

Lord Clark told Garzouli: “Your victim was crossing a street in the centre of the city centre heading towards a bus stop.”

The High Court in Glasgow heard that Garzouli, who was standing near the bus stop grabbed the woman, lifted her up and carried her to the bin storage area and raped her.

Garzouli was locked up for five years and six months.

A Glasgow man is charged with murder following an apparent assault that resulted in another man’s death, according to the Barren County Sheriff’s Office.

Anthony Jinkins, 44, was arrested Saturday night by the BCSO and charged with murder following the death of Sheldon Saltsman, 37, of Glasgow. According to the sheriff’s office, witnesses at 266 Carden Road on Saturday afternoon said Jinkins attacked Saltsman and struck him several times in the head. When deputies arrived at about 4:11 p.m., Saltsman was unresponsive on the floor and was later pronounced dead at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.

THE racist ringleader of the gang that murdered schoolboy Kriss Donald yesterday launched a fresh bid to win thousands of pounds in damages for being locked in solitary confinement.

Imran “Baldy” Shahid, 38, was jailed for life after he was found guilty of the racially aggravated murder of Glasgow teenager Kriss in 2006.

Four years ago, the Court of Session rejected the thug’s bid to sue taxpayers for £6,000 over “degrading” treatment in prison.

Shahid launched a taxpayer-funded appeal yesterday against the decision at the Supreme Court in London.

Excluding yesterday’s case, the tax- paying public has been forced to foot a legal aid bill of £42,548 for Shahid to bring his human rights claim to court.

He claims he was “stressed” during four years and eight months spent in segregation.

Shahid listed “hearing voices” and being prohibited from attending communal prayers during Ramadan among his gripes about being kept in solitary confinement. But the Court of Session ruled that segregation was necessary for safety reasons.

Ebola is back and this time it is in Scotland.

A health worker whose race has not yet been identified, returned from the plague-ridden open cesspit that is Sierra Leone on Sunday night at 11:30 PM and by 7:50 AM Monday morning they were in the isolation ward at Glasgow hospital.

Since by the time the symptoms show the patient has already been infectious for quite some time, this means that everyone else on the plane, along with all the people they met on their way back, could now be at risk.

I am sure this must make us all feel really proud, that we live in an anti-racist society that would rather see us all die of haemorrhagic fever, than quarantine Africa and risk hurting the feelings of the Black plague-carriers.

The Guardian:

The Scottish government added: “All possible contacts with the patient are now being investigated and anyone deemed to be at risk will be contacted and closely monitored. However, having been diagnosed in the very early stages of the illness, the risk to others is considered extremely low.”

The first minister, Nicola Sturgeon, has chaired a meeting of the Scottish government resilience committee to ensure all necessary steps are being taken, and has also spoken to the prime minister, David Cameron.

…Sturgeon said: “Our first thoughts at this time must be with the patient diagnosed with Ebola and their friends and family. I wish them a speedy recovery.

“Scotland has been preparing for this possibility from the beginning of the outbreak in west Africa and I am confident that we are well prepared.”

An asylum seeker who dragged a woman into bushes in Glasgow Green with intent to rape her was today jailed for four years.

Molon Baraka, 26, was caught because his terrified victim had the presence on mind to grab a library card with his name on it.

Baraka pounced on the 51-year-old  woman as she walked through Glasgow Green in January this year – just three months after entering the UK as as an asylum seeker from Sudan.

Sentencing Baraka at the High Court in Glasgow judge Lord Matthews told him: “This is the stuff of nightmares. A woman was dragged into a secluded area in the dark thinking she was going to be raped.

“It may have been her screams and struggling which caused this episode to stop  otherwise this serious case would  undoubtedly have been even worse.

“We can only speculate what long term psychological damage will have been caused to your victim.”

Lord Matthews also ordered Baraka to be monitored in the community for two years after his release.

But stated that would depend on whether Home Secretary Theresa May orders him to deported after completion of his sentence.

Defence counsel Owen Mullen said that Baraka wished to apologise to his victim.

He added: “He is from Sudan then moved to Libya before coming to the UK claiming asylum in October last year. He was sent to Glasgow by the Home Office while his application was considered.”

Baraka , who is rated as at a high risk of re-offending,  pinned the 51 year-old to the ground, but she bravely tried to fight him off.

She was able to get into one of his pockets and snatch a number of personal items – including a library card which allowed police to trace her attacker.

The attack happened as the woman made her way to work at a supermarket in the early hours of January 5 this year.
Baraka approached her in Glasgow Green and initially asked her for a cigarette.

He then said “money” and “sex”, but the woman ignored him.

However, prosecutor Gillian Wade QC told the court how Baraka then grabbed his victim and dragged her towards a long grassy area in the park.

Miss Wade added: “She begged him to let her go. She continued to struggle and screamed for help.”

Baraka eventually straddled the woman on the ground and demanded she be quiet. He then managed to force her trousers down, but the woman started to fight back.

She managed to put her hand in a pocket of his top and grab a library card, keys and a mobile phone.

The woman continued to cry for help, which eventually lead to Baraka fleeing the park.

Miss Wade told how the victim went to her work and told a colleague of her ordeal after breaking down hysterically.
Police were alerted and they later took the items taken from Baraka?s pocket.

The card had the name Molon Tonkh Baraka on it and a check at the city’s Hillhead Library gave police his address and a breakthrough in catching the attacker.

Officers later found him at his flat in the city’s Bridgeton hiding in a cupboard.

Baraka initially insisted he had not been in Glasgow Green, but then claimed he had been drinking at the time “for the first time in his life”.

He added: “Even if I have done it, I wasn’t conscious because nobody would do such a thing.”

It also emerged a roll-up cigarette close to the attack scene was found to have Baraka’s DNA on it.

Prosecutor Miss Wade told how the victim had been “distraught and frightened” as a result of what happened.

But, praising her bravery for trying to fend Baraka off, the QC added: “She showed courage during this sexually motivated attack on her.”

POLICE are investigating the sexual exploitation of vulnerable children in Scotland by men from ethnic minorities in ­cases that bear striking ­similarities to the organised abuse of youngsters in Rotherham, Scotland on ­Sunday can reveal.

Detectives have launched two operations into the abuse of vulnerable teenagers, some of whom absconded from children’s homes, in Glasgow.

The first, Operation Cotswold, set up in 2011, focused on a group of Middle Eastern asylum seekers in the north of the city. At least 26 potential victims were identified and files were sent to the procurator-fiscal, but no prosecutions were brought.

It is understood vulnerable young girls were found in the home of one or more suspects, but many identified as at risk did not see themselves as victims and were reluctant to co-operate, making it difficult to gather evidence and get the case to court.

In February 2013, after Operation Cotswold ended, the police launched Operation Dash, a broader attempt to root out child sexual exploitation (CSE) across the Strathclyde police area. Officers worked in partnership with the charity Barnardo’s Scotland to gather intelligence.

Scotland on Sunday understands that, as a result, a number of fast-food outlets and taxi services were linked to CSE and a number of suspected perpetrators, many Asian, were targeted in a criminal investigation. Operation Dash is ongoing and there are live proceedings. It is understood at least one case involves multiple alleged offenders.

Detective Chief Superintendent Lesley Boal confirmed: “As a result of [Operation Cotswold] a number of individuals were the subject of investigation and subsequent learning from that operation has informed the further work we have undertaken in the area of CSE.

“Operation Dash remains a live ongoing criminal investigation that has resulted, so far, in 21 persons being reported to COPFS [Crown Office and Procurator-Fiscal Service] in relation to a range of crimes and there are live ongoing criminal proceedings in a number of cases.”

The revelation about CSE in Scotland comes days after a damning report found a blatant failure of police and political leadership had allowed 1,400 girls from Rotherham to be sexually exploited by Asian men over a 16-year-period.

A medal-winning Commonwealth Games weightlifter headbutted a Welsh competitor after a row over ‘physical contact’ with his victim’s girlfriend.

Australian Francois Etoundi assaulted Gareth Evans, also a weightlifter, in the athletes’ village on Wednesday morning, Glasgow Sheriff Court heard.

The incident unfolded after Mr Evans’ girlfriend and a number of other people had congratulated Etoundi, 29, for winning a bronze medal by ‘physically taking hold of him’.

Procurator fiscal depute Stuart Fauré said Etoundi was staying in the athletes’ village at the time of the incident.

He told the court there was a lead up to the assault around 4.45am in the morning of July 30 when Mr Evans and his friend Sonny Webster – a weightlifter for England – were in the ‘mess hall’ having breakfast.

Etoundi went into the hall and asked Mr Evans to go outside for a fight but Mr Evans ignored him and carried on having his breakfast.

Mr Fauré said: ‘The accused left the dining room. At approximately 5.30am that same morning the complainer and Mr Webster left the dining room and whilst they were walking through the athlete’s village they came across the accused, Mr Etoundi.

‘Mr Etoundi was in the company of some others. It’s said that Mr Etoundi approached Mr Evans and headbutted him to his face, in fact the blow struck Mr Evans on his nose.

‘The incident was in relatively short compass. Mr Evans said it was totally unprovoked. The accused made off from the scene.’

Mr Evans was described as having an ‘uncomplicated fracture to his nose’ and given painkillers.

Police later detained Etoundi and as they did he said: ‘Yeah, yeah, I understand, I’m cool man.’

He later made no reply when charged by the police after being interviewed.

Mr Hunter, defending, said that Etoundi was originally from Cameroon but lives in Australia with his girlfriend. He had won bronze on July 29 in the 77kg category of weightlifting.

He said his client had gone to the restaurant where he was congratulated by a number of people including Mr Evans’ girlfriend, who ‘physically took hold of him’.

The lawyer told the court Mr Evans ‘didn’t appear to be greatly impressed by the physical contact between the two and words were exchanged’.
