A federal judge in Texas has ruled that the U.S. Minority Business Development Agency, founded during the Nixon administration, must avail itself to disadvantaged entrepreneurs of all races and ethnicities, including whites.

The summary judgment rendered on Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Mark Pittman, appointed in 2019 by then-President Donald Trump, was the latest in a recent series of federal court decisions rolling back decades of affirmative action programs aimed at remedying racial discrimination.

Pittman, a judge in the Forth Worth branch of the Northern Texas District, sided with two white businessmen who sued the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), a branch of the Commerce Department, last year after being denied benefits on the basis of race.

The plaintiffs were told they were ineligible for agency assistance because they were not members of any of the races or ethnicities included on a list of qualified minorities presumed to be disadvantaged and thus entitled to services, according to the judge’s summary of the case.

Pittman found that presumption violates the U.S. Constitution’s guarantee of equal protection under the law, and cited the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling in a case last June striking down race-conscious admissions policies at Harvard University and the University of North Carolina.

As part of his 93-page decision, the judge granted a permanent injunction barring the $550 million agency from “using an applicant’s race or ethnicity in determining whether they can receive business center programming.”

I feel like these little bits of good news are actually harmful, as it give people hope in the system.

There is no hope in the system.

I think the Jews allow these seemingly good things to happen – which don’t really even mean much of anything – in order to give people false hope.

The system must fail totally.

Michael Webb was sentenced to life Thursday for the kidnapping of an 8-year-old girl as she walked with her mother in a Fort Worth neighborhood.

A federal jury found Webb, 51, guilty of the kidnapping during a two-day trial in September. More than one month later, a judge sentenced him to life in prison.

“We believe that justice has been served in this case, and we are thankful for and agree with the judge’s decision to sentence him to life in prison,” said U.S. Attorney Nealy Cox in a statement Thursday. “My hope is that this family and this community will find solace in knowing that he will never be able to harm another little child again.”

Police arrested Webb after he was found in a motel room with the child more than eight hours after she was abducted on May 18.

Webb was charged with federal kidnapping because he used Google maps on his cellphone to navigate to the extended-stay hotel.

During his trial, not a single witness was called by the defense, and Webb’s attorneys didn’t cross-examine a single witness.

Webb asked Judge O’Connor for a new court-appointed attorney multiple times, but was denied.

Webb could’ve faced as little as 20 years in prison for his crime, but received the maximum sentence and is not eligible for parole.

Two men have been charged with capital murder after the death of a Fort Worth man who was shot in a home-invasion robbery early Tuesday.

Cameron Jerrell Marble, 22, and David Sharray Shelton, 21, were being held Thursday at the Tarrant County jail. Bail had not been set.

Police said three masked robbers burst through the front door of an apartment in the 2900 block of Phoenix Drive about 3:30 a.m.

The apartment’s resident, 26-year-old David Allen Plotts, was shot during the robbery. He was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital, where he died Wednesday afternoon.

The robbers fled after the shooting, and Marble and Shelton were arrested Tuesday night, police records show.

Police have not released any information about a third suspect.

The man accused of kidnapping an 8-year-old girl in Fort Worth last month now faces a slew of rape charges.

Michael Webb, 51, has been charged with one count of aggravated kidnapping and six counts of sexual assault of a child in Tarrant County, court records show.

Webb has also been charged with kidnapping in federal court. He remains in FBI custody.

The girl’s mother called police around 6:30 p.m. May 18 to reported that a man had driven up to them as they were walking in a Fort Worth neighborhood. He grabbed the girl and drove off, she said.

An Amber Alert was issued for the girl — although it was not delivered to radio stations because of problems with a fax machine — and she was found after church members spotted a car at a Forest Hill hotel that matched the description given by the mother.

Webb was taken into custody by Fort Worth police.

An 8-year-old girl is home safe, after she was snatched in broad daylight while walking with her mother outside Fort Worth, Texas, Saturday. Volunteers who joined the eight-hour search for Salem Sabatka helped find her.

Doorbell video from a nearby house captured the moment a man in a silver car snatched Sabatka. The Fort Worth Amber Alert, along with a picture of the girl and the suspect’s car, spread quickly on social media. Jeff King got the alert from a friend.

“My friend texted me and said Riz’s daughter was kidnapped. I know the father,” King said.

By chance, King spotted the suspect’s car in a hotel parking lot and called police. He was there when police went in and found Salem.

“This adrenaline was rushing through my veins. I could barely stand still, me and the person I was with. We were just hugging each other and he and I were like beside ourselves,” King said.

Police arrested 51-year-old Michael Webb. He’s charged with aggravated kidnapping.

Police have arrested a man in connection to a vicious sucker punch to a mother in front of her children.

David Earl Thomas, Junior, 34, is now in custody.

His alleged victim, Jennifer Leedy, suffered a broken nose and her daughters are traumatized by what happened.

“We were talking. We were laughing. We were having a good time. Beautiful day. All of the sudden, he just charged before I even knew what was happening. This person just charged right at me and knocked me down to the ground,” said Leedy. “I remember looking down the street and he was running and he turned to the right… I feel very, very lucky. Very lucky… that the weapon of choice was a fist. And it wasn’t a gun or a knife. Or anything else that you hear nightmares about.”

Rockwell’s attorneys claim that their client is “mentally ill” (and thus unfit for execution) because he believes he is surrounded by “snakes and demons.”

The execution of a man who robbed a Fort Worth gas station in 2010 was delayed Friday by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals.

Kwame Rockwell, 42, was set to be executed Oct. 24 for the deaths of a gas station clerk and delivery man in a Fort Worth robbery. Rockwell and two other men robbed the store and fatally shot Daniel Rojas and Jerry Burnett, according to court records. In 2012, Rockwell was convicted for the murder of Rojas.

On Friday, a majority of Texas Court of Criminal Appeals judges ordered Rockwell’s execution be delayed, the Texas Tribune reported. They also ordered a judge to appoint two mental health experts and re-examine Rockwell for execution.

On Wednesday, Rockwell and his attorneys filed a motion to stay the execution, arguing Rockwell’s schizophrenia prevents him from understanding his execution and the murder conviction.

According to state law, a person must be competent in order to be executed.

Rockwell’s attorneys said he has a lifelong history of severe mental illness with fixed delusions that snakes and demons surround him and invade his body, The Associated Press reported.

The two surviving suspects in the Friday shooting of a Fort Worth undercover police officer now face charges of capital murder, police said Saturday.

Garrett Hull, a 17-year veteran described as the “cement” of his robbery unit, died Friday night after being shot early Friday morning as he tried to apprehend three robbery suspects.

Police shot and killed Dacion Steptoe, 23, during the incident. He died in the driveway of a house in the 3500 block of May Street, about a block away from the Los Vaqueros bar he and two other suspects robbed, according to the Tarrant County medical examiner and police.

Neither of the suspects who survived, 23-year-old Samuel Mayfield and 33-year-old Timothy Huff, are believed to have fired a weapon during the confrontation, police said.

Police Chief Joel Fitzgerald said Mayfield had active warrants for assault causing bodily injury, possession of marijuana and theft when he was arrested.

Mayfield also faces charges of 10 counts of aggravated robbery, because there were 10 patrons in the bar, and one count of attempted capital murder, because another officer was near Hull when Steptoe opened fire, police said.

Huff is also facing 10 counts of aggravated robbery and one count of attempted capital murder.

The Fort Worth Police Department needs help identifying the person or persons responsible for a man’s death.

Marty Britton was assaulted in the Walmart parking lot at 8401 Anderson blvd on June 12th. Britton later died from his injuries sustained in the assault.

Police believe the suspect’s vehicle is a 2013-2015 Mitubishi Outlander Sport. The suspect is described as a black male, possibly of Puerto Rican descent.

According to Police, the subject appeared to be wearing a “mechanic work shirt” on the day of the assault.

Fort Worth police arrested and charged a man Wednesday with the execution-style slaying of a gun supply store clerk.

Gerry Handsborough Jr., 22, of Fort Worth was arrested Wednesday at his attorney’s office on a charge of murder in the death of Eric Peterson. Bail has not yet been set.

Handsborough was determined to be the same person police originally sought as a person of interest in the surveillance video released after the shooting at Military Gun Supply in the 2900 block of South Cravens Road, near East Loop 820 South.

The video shows a man, determined to be Handsborough, making a purchase from 32-year-old Peterson shortly before he was shot multiple times.

Handsborough has been on the run since Dec. 16 when his family was notified that a warrant was obtained for his arrest, police said.
