One person shot to death, two other people dead under mysterious circumstances, and the whole building burned to ashes.

Sounds like a typical beaner house party to me.

At least one of three people who died in connection with a house fire was shot to death, and now city police believe they know who pulled the trigger.

31-year old J. Trinidad Ramirez II faces a murder charge and appeared before a judge Wednesday afternoon.

The arrest comes as detectives investigate the April 10 incident in the 1800 block of Rosemont Drive.

Crews responding to a house fire call discovered two men dead inside the home. A third person who was pulled from the house died a short time later.

Investigators later ruled that Marcos Ildefonso Casares, 37, was shot to death, and the coroner ruled his death a homicide.

The coroner identified the two other men found inside the home as 51-year-old Doak Stanley McBride and 32-year-old Kyle Gregory Call, both of Fort Wayne. Cause and manner of death have not yet been nailed down for either of those victims.

Court documents indicate that Casares and Ramirez knew each other from East Chicago.

A witness told police he went to the home April 10th with Ramirez and Casares to party.

He said at some point Ramirez and Casares started yelling at each other, that Casares pulled out a gun, but that Ramirez wrestled it away and used it to shoot Casares multiple times.

That witness says Ramirez then set a blanket on fire, tossed it on a loveseat, then took off.

Kyle Call and Doak McBride were in the home at the time.

Authorities don’t know for sure how they died.

Surprisingly, this doesn’t appear to have been about drugs.

WANE:

A man has been sentenced for his involvement in a shooting at a Fort Wayne apartment complex on July 4.

Carlos Avila, 22, was sentenced to 25 years for Burglary in an incident at the Baldwin Creek Apartments on Hobson Road that left Javis Asher with life-threatening injuries.

Police arrested Avila in November at a house in the 5500 block of Kimberly Drive.

Additional charges of Attempted Murder, Aggravated Battery and Battery were dismissed as part of a plea agreement filed earlier this month.

I never thought I’d see the day when a victim has an even funnier name than the blacks who killed him.

WANE:

The two people killed in a triple shooting early Wednesday morning have been identified by the Allen County Coroner’s Office. Fort Wayne police have arrested three people for the crime which left a third person with life-threatening injuries.

Mon Ong, 21, of Fort Wayne died from a gunshot wound to the chest and Brooke J. Wendel, 23, died from a gunshot wound to the head. Both deaths have been ruled homicides.

According to a department spokesperson, a friend of the victims stopped by 2405 Barnhart Avenue around 12:30 a.m. and found them shot inside the home.

Police responded and began providing emergency care to the victims.

Medics also responded and pronounced one of the men dead at the scene. Medics took another man and a woman to a hospital in critical condition. The woman later died at the hospital according to the Allen County Coroner’s Office.

Just after 3 p.m. Wednesday, police announced they’d arrested three people.

Kyaw Hlang, 22, faces 2 counts of Murder and 2 counts of Felony Murder, as well as charges of Robbery, Warrant Probation Violation, and Warrant Violation of Reentry Court.

Kerwins Louis, 20, faces two counts of Felony Murder as well as Robbery and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Jamesley Paul, 23, faces two counts of Felony Murder and one count of Robbery.

The trio was arrested by Gang and Narcotics officers at different locations on Wednesday.

Marvin Sprowl thought he’d take his motorcycle for one last ride Tuesday before selling it. Instead, he ended up with a concussion, bruises, and bleeding from his head.

The 62-year-old Sprawl said he was trying to pull out of his driveway when he saw two women fighting in the street in front of him.

“I said you gotta stop this crap or I’m going to call the cops,” Sprowl said.

He said that’s when two men confronted him.

“Two guys came up. One on the left one on the right, and the one on the left said call the cops huh? I said just clear the way. Something happened to me and I went down. I blacked out. The bikes on me. There’s blood on my hands. ‘What’s this blood on my hands?’ and then I got kicked,” he explained.

Within hours of the incident, a video was posted on social media.

It appears to show the moment he was hit. We’ve reached out to the man who shot the video and other witnesses but have not received any response.

Sprowl watched it for the first time Wednesday as our camera rolled. In the video, you see an oxygen tank on Sprowl’s bike.

“I’m on oxygen. I’m on blood thinners. I have a heart condition, so I posed no threat to these people,” Sprowl said.

His son Kyle and his girlfriend, Amanda Whisman, saw the video online and grew angry. They quickly discovered others were upset too.

“As soon as I went back to the source of the person who shared that video, I had people contacting me left and right,” Amanda Whisman said.

Fort Wayne police tell us they’re still investigating and that no one has been charged at this point.

The trial for a Fort Wayne man accused of killing three people – including an unborn child – is scheduled to start today in Allen Superior Court.

Deyante Stephens, 27, is charged with three counts of murder in the Jan. 20, 2018, shooting deaths of Preonda M. Jones, 37, and Brianna R. Gould, 24, inside a home in the 1200 block of Lillie Street. Jones died at the scene and Gould, who was pregnant with a boy, was taken to a hospital where she died.

Both women were shot multiple times. One shot penetrated Gould’s stomach, striking and killing the fetus, which doctors said would have been of a viable age if he had been born.

Police were called to the home about 6:41 a.m., and Stephens was arrested two hours later after reportedly “trying to get into an apartment” at a different location. He was bleeding from his hand and had blood on the gray sweatsuit he was wearing, investigators said.

“Shoot me! Please shoot me!” Stephens yelled at officers, according to a probable cause affidavit. “You know it’s going to happen! Shoot me!”

Stephens also said he knew why officers were looking or him, asked police for a hug, called them “dead men” and threatened to kill himself, the affidavit alleges.

Murder is punishable by up to 65 years in prison, and Stephens faces up to 195 years behind bars if convicted. Prosecutors filed an enhancement for using a gun to commit the crime, and that could add another 20 years to the sentence.

Police arrested a suspect in connection with a Thanksgiving shooting in Ft. Wayne that left three dead and two others wounded.

It happened around 10:30 p.m. Thursday on Downington Drive, near the Towles Intermediate School.

Two men and two women died, and two other males were hospitalized in critical condition. Four victims were found inside the home, and the other was outside.

On Friday, police arrested Kameron Joyner, 22, after a traffic stop. He faces five preliminary counts of aggravated battery, according to WANE.

Officers are searching for a second suspect, 22-year-old Gerald Pinkston, in connection with the deadly shooting.

This brutal murder occurred in December 2016, yet the legal proceedings drag on.

Why? Why should three-fifths of a person be given the same legal protection as a full person?

It’s not as if prison is going to “rehabilitate” him or the remainder of his 75 IQ ilk.

A Fort Wayne man wanted in the December 2016 shooting death of 22-year-old Codi McCann near an alley off East State Boulevard is due for transport back to Allen County to face charges.

The charges against Quentin Stewart, 28, have not been made public. However, Stewart was taken into custody Wednesday in Lake County and was being held there until he is transported to Allen County, according to Michael Joyner, public information officer for the Fort Wayne Police Department.

Stacey Davis, McCann’s mother, said she believed her son was the victim of an attempted armed robbery as he sat in an alley in the 2200 block of California Avenue around 10 p.m. The man she believed shot and killed her son was one of two men who arrived on their own at a hospital and was also shot. McCann was armed and probably shot his assailant, Davis said at the end of 2016.

Footprints in the snow led to the arrest of one of the men who allegedly pulled a gun on a Vito’s Pizza and Subs deliveryman, robbed him, and then took off in his car last week.

According to the affidavit for probable cause, 19-year-old Larry D. Washington, Jr., and two other suspects robbed the victim at gunpoint shortly after 4 a.m. on January 3.

The deliveryman told police he went to deliver food to a home in the 5300-block of Winter Street when one of the men pointed a gun at him and stole his wallet, along with the food. The three suspects then ran to the victim’s car and drove off in it.

Police found the stolen car parked on the side of the road in the 4700-block of Reed Street. Police saw two sets of footprints in the snow that led from the passenger side of the car to a home. Officers followed the tracks to the home and the homeowner then allowed them to search her house.

According to the probable cause, police found Washington and another man in the home. Police determined that the other man lived at the home, but Washington did not.

Officers also found a bag of food from Vito’s, along with the victim’s driver’s license in the bottom of the bag.

The other man told police in an interview that Washington came to his house with a gun and asked him to hide it when police arrived.

Police said the shoes Washington was wearing matched the tread pattern in the snow which led from the stolen car to the home.

Washington was arrested and charged with Robbery, Defendant Armed OR Bodily Injury Results, a class B felony.

The investigation is ongoing.
