Hungary has lost its right to a billion euros of funding after Budapest failed to tackle corruption, according to the EU authorities in Brussels. This is the first time in history that Brussels has enforced such a move.

The European Commission on Wednesday said Hungary had lost its entitlement to European Union aid worth some €1 billion ($1.03 billion) due to rule of law breaches.

Previously, the EU pressured the country to change its laws in order to tackle conflicts of interest and corruption.

Budapest had been told it must make reforms by the end of 2024 or they would expire.

In 2022, the EU started “conditionality” proceedings against Hungary, seeking to block payments because of alleged infringements of public procurement rules. It said there was a lack of control and transparency.

Hungary was found to have disregarded EU standards and fundamental values and told to implement sufficient reforms. Hungary then agreed to undertake reforms which allowed some funds to be unblocked, but a €19 billion ($20 billion) sum remained frozen.

The EU’s conditionality regulation stated that — without the suspension being lifted — “the first tranche of suspended commitments” amounting to €1 billion would expire at the end of 2024.

In a report published in July, the European Commission concluded that Hungary did not meet EU democratic standards. Most notable in its failings were said to be corruption, political financing, conflicts of interest and media independence.

The “democracy” scheme to absorb formerly communist Eastern European states was entirely based on bribery. That was the whole scheme: they bribed all of these countries, gave out cash in exchange for these countries joining “liberal democracy.”

Most of the leaders who went along with this were just cartoonishly corrupt (look at Romania).

As US-dominated Western Europe continues to push homosexuality, child homosexuality, vagina overlordism, and mass immigration onto these countries, the populations are beginning to wonder if the bribe money is actually worth it.

The Citizens’ Initiative “My voice, my choice,” calling for safe access to abortion in the European Union, has reached the necessary one million signatures for the EU Commission to issue a response.

‘My voice, my choice,’ a citizens’ initiative advocating for safe and accessible abortion in the EU, has secured 1 million signatures across the bloc and exceeded the required thresholds in 15 countries – more than double the necessary seven.

“We managed to connect the entire EU and build a network across Europe. Most importantly, we clearly demonstrated that the right to freely decide about childbirth is a shared value across Europe,” said Nika Kovač, the campaign coordinator, in a press release.

The initiative, led by the 8th of March Institute, a Slovenian non-profit organisation for gender equality, calls on the European Commission to propose concrete measures ensuring that all EU citizens, regardless of nationality or residence, have access to safe and legal abortion services.

The one million signatures gathered compel the European Commission to respond to the initiative in a communication formally adopted by the College of Commissioners and decide whether to take any action.

Safe access to abortion in the EU has been a widely discussed topic across the European institutions.

In April, the Parliament voted in favour of including access to abortion in the EU’s Charter of Fundamental Rights, an initiative widely backed by the chamber.

European Commissioner for Budget and Administration Johannes Hahn has admitted that the EU funds a wide variety of NGOs residing on the far-left of the political spectrum to the tune of millions of taxpayers’ hard-earned euros. The revelation led one European lawmaker to tell Breitbart News the revealed payments are sustaining a left-wing echo chamber in Brussels, saying: “The EU is creating and financing its own advocacy and activist groups so they can artificially weigh in on EU decision-making”.

The admission came in response to a written question to the European Commission signed by several MEPs within the right-leaning Identity and Democracy and European Conservatives and Reformists groups.

In a statement on the matter published on Tuesday, Commissioner Hahn admitted that the EU hands millions in funding to a wide variety of left-wing groups, with the bloc giving over €4.5 million to ‘No Peace without Justice’ — a group originating from the so-called ‘Transnational Radical Party’ — and over half-a-million to “Droit au Droit”, who profess to campaign for “marginalised groups”.

The Commission claims to have had no meetings with ‘No Peace Without Justice ‘, despite the multi-million payout.

Hahn failed to reveal how much the EU hands to the likes of Amnesty International and George Soros-Linked Open Society Foundation, arguing that there are numerous NGOs registered with the union operating under those names.

The European Union’s own websites appear to reveal that organisations linked with both groups received over €10 million in funding each in a period ranging from 2014 to 2021.

Speaking to Breitbart Europe regarding the revelations, one of the politicians behind the written question, Flemish MEP Tom Vandendriessche, commented that the EC’s statement provides even more evidence that the EU is actually paying for itself to be lobbied.

“The European Commission is, directly and indirectly, subsidizing dozens of NGOs and lobbying organizations that are active in the fields of climate activism and human rights activism,” the Vlaams Belang member said, adding that both large and small organisations regularly receive funding from the international bloc.

“The EU is creating and financing its own advocacy and activist groups so they can artificially weigh in on EU decision-making,” he added, describing the organisations as often being “situated on the far left” and as including “radical activists”.

The European Commission referred Poland to the European Court of Justice on Wednesday over two rulings from the country’s top constitutional court that held that EU law does not take precedence over the Polish constitution.

The referral follows a formal notice by the European Commission to launch infringement proceedings against the country served on Dec. 21, 2021.

The European Commission’s complaint relates to two rulings of the Polish Constitutional Tribunal on July 14, 2021, and Oct. 7, 2021, where it held that where contradictions exist between the EU treaties and the Polish constitution, the latter will prevail, a move the bloc says is incompatible with the primacy of EU legal principles.

“The Constitutional Tribunal with these rulings breached the general principles of autonomy, primacy, effectiveness, uniform application of Union law and the binding effect of rulings of the Court of Justice of the European Union,” read a press release issued by the Commission on Wednesday.

The bloc claimed Poland’s top constitutional court “no longer meets the requirements of an independent and impartial tribunal previously established by law,” and referred to what it regards as “irregularities in the appointment procedures of three judges in December 2015 and in the selection of its president in December 2016.”

The Commission raised its concerns with Poland in a reasoned opinion issued in July last year and claims Poland’s response in September did not adequately address the Commission’s concerns.

Krystyna Pawłowicz, a justice on the Constitutional Tribunal, tweeted Article 190(1) of Poland’s constitution in response to the news on Wednesday, which reads: “Judgments of the Constitutional Tribunal are universally binding and are final.”

She added that the European court “is not the second instance for judgments of the Constitutional Tribunal of a sovereign Polish state.”

“This unlawful harassment will not affect the jurisprudence of the Polish Constitutional Tribunal. The judgments of the Constitutional Tribunal will remain unshakable and universally binding,” she added.

Ultimately, the EU can threaten their free stuff. They’re not going to question their war with Russia, of course.

But Poland signed treaties saying that their national law is subordinate to EU law, and there is no room to wiggle out of that.

On Monday, Putin offered his congratulations to Orbán, who is a long-term Kremlin ally, despite Hungary’s support for EU sanctions against Russia. “Despite the difficult international situation, the further development of a bilateral partnership fully accords to the interests of the peoples of Russia and Hungary,” a Kremlin statement said.

Britain’s Nigel Farage, France’s Marine Le Pen and Italy’s Matteo Salvini were also quick to congratulate Orbán. “When the people vote, the people win,” tweeted Le Pen, the French far-right leader, who is vying to unseat Emmanuel Macron as president in imminent elections.

EU leaders were conspicuously silent on a day when independent election observers at the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) reported that the Hungarian vote was “marred by the absence of a level playing field”.

Czech foreign minister Jan Lipavskỷ, a key regional ally, said he was “not satisfied with the election’s result in Hungary”, but had to “seek partners” in his country’s interest. “Hungary must choose its side, and whether they belong to the EU and Nato,” he said.

Petri Sarvamaa, a centre-right Finnish MEP, said, based on his understanding, the commission was going to trigger the process within days, but added that Hungary posed far deeper questions. Europe could be approaching a historic moment, he said. “We are facing existential issues. These are totalitarian authoritarian regimes vis-a-vis the democratic world and Orbán seems to be willing to be part of that [first] camp.”

“We appeased Viktor Orbán … and we, the union, appeased Vladimir Putin. And if we continue on this path.. We will find ourselves obsolete.”

We here at this website have been supportive of Orban’s policies, though we’ve noted continually that his connections to the EU will ultimately make any policy decisions he makes irrelevant. The EU is designed to be a government, and it is a government, and the further along it develops, the less control nations have over their internal policies.

Orban winning yet again is a very big deal, given that it comes amidst this mass psychosis over the Ukraine, and the larger war against Russia in the name of this bizarre globalist anal transhumanist agenda.

It’s not surprising they are committed to trying to oust Orban, but given the way they’ve dealt with Russia, they might just end up helping him.

If he is able to somehow escape the EU and NATO and link up with Russia, walking away with all of the money he was given by these bodies, that would be quite something.

A Tecnè poll has revealed that Italians are becoming more and more critical of the European Union, with 49 per cent saying they want Italy out.

Just 51 per cent of the Italian public said they want to remain in the EU, which has been widely criticised across the country for lack of solidarity with Italy since the start of the Wuhan coronavirus outbreak.

The poll is a far cry from previous surveys, according to newspaper Il Giornale, which cited a November 2018 study which showed consensus was far more favourable to the European Union, saying opposition to an Italian exit has fallen by 20 per cent in two years.

The Coronavirus – or rather, the response to it – is effectively collapsing society.

And that’s not really a bad thing, considering that none of us live in a society that deserves to not collapse.

The EU reaction to the Italian coronavirus outbreak, which has led to the deaths of more than 20,000 people across the country so far, led to some Italians burning EU flags on social media and Italian politicians taking down EU flags from offices and public spaces in protest.

The reaction from Italians led European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen to issue an apology earlier this month that was published by newspaper La Repubblica.

“It must be acknowledged that in the first days of the crisis, faced with the need for a common European response, too many have thought only of the problems of their own homes,” she said and added: “They did not realise that we can defeat this pandemic only together, as a Union. It was malicious behaviour and could have been avoided.”

What was malicious was shutting down the entire planet over a disease so “dangerous” that most people who get it don’t even feel sick at all.

Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte later issued a warning to the EU saying that the political bloc may collapse if other member states do not act with solidarity and help countries most affected by coronavirus.

“We do not expect Germany and Holland to pay our debts, but the fiscal policy rules must be loosened, otherwise we will have to write off Europe, and everyone will do things on their own,” Mr Conte said.
