A prestigious public high school frequently ranked America’s best has slumped in rankings after implementing a DEI-focused admissions policy.

Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology fell to number 14 on the latest US News and World Report Rankings.

It held the top spot for years, but dipped to third place in 2023 and saw its ranking freefall in 2024, prompting the principal Dr. Ann Bonitatibus to stand down earlier this month.

Worried parents have said that the alarming drop is the result of an ‘equity’-focused admissions policy, which prioritizes equality of outcome rather than opportunity.

The policy aims to increase the number of black and Latino children at the school by axing standard tests in favor of a review process. Critics have said it has lowered academic standards and led to a reduction in Asian-American students.

Asra Nomani, a former Thomas Jefferson parent, had previously hailed the departure of Bonitatibus as being a ‘win’ for the school.

The journalist and author has been a vocal critic of the school leadership, the decline in the school’s rankings and the reduction in the number of National Merit semifinalists.

Speaking with DailyMail.com, she said: ‘The decline of Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology from No. 1 to No. 14 is emblematic of the dumbing down of America by activist school boards and administrators from northern Virginia to Massachusetts, Michigan and beyond, weaponizing the once well-intended concept of ‘equity’ to destroy academic excellence, merit and the American Dream.’

Nomani, a first generation American-Indian Muslim, added: ‘To restore TJ’s excellence, it’s time to move from DEI—diversity, equity and inclusion—to MEI—merit, excellence, and intelligence, restoring values of equality, fairness and achievement.

‘This is about affirming diversity while re-committing to high standards that reward hard work and intellectual ambition, so TJ—and America—can once again be a beacon of excellence. ‘

Srilekha Palle, whose child attends the school, told Fox News: ‘What is a big deal if it falls down to 100, 1,000?

‘If you have that kind of attitude, then what are we teaching our kids? I think it is purely a reflection on leadership changes and leadership failure.’

Dr. Andrew Hayes, president of the TJ Alumni Action Group, who advocated for a more equitable admissions process told Fox the rankings were an ‘artificial measurement’.

Hayes said: ’14 is amazing. I think people who are complaining about that are spoiled or have pretty unrealistic expectations.’

We appear to be witnessing a DEI program in the response to hurricane Helene, where whites are being left to starve in the woods and the government has de facto banned people from assisting them.

A startling 2023 FEMA webinar features federal health and disaster personnel trumpeting the urgent need to move away from policies that benefit the greatest number of people and instead turn focus toward “disaster equity” where aid is distributed based on innate characteristics like sexual orientation and gender identity.

The roundtable discussion, recorded in March of last year, was entitled “Helping LGBTQIA+ Survivors Before Disasters,” included panelists like Maggie Jarry of Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and was moderated by Tyler Atkins, an Emergency Management Specialist at FEMA who uses he/they pronouns.

The panelists covered a range of topics around the notion that disaster services are short-changing marginalized groups when it comes to relief efforts.

“LGBTQIA people, and people who have been disadvantaged already, are struggling. They already have their own things to deal with. So when you add a disaster on top of that it’s just compounding on itself,” Atkins mused to the group.

“I think that is maybe the ‘why’ of why we’re having these discussions, because it isn’t being talked about, it isn’t being socialized, we’re not paying attention to this community,” he claimed.

What does this even mean?

Why would homosexuals need different aid in a disaster? Are they going to send them buttplugs and PrEP?

Isn’t disaster response primarily just removing people from the disaster zone?

As the remaining panelists nodded in enthusiastic agreement, Jarry made a startling revelation that federal agencies ostensibly tasked with saving as many lives as possible in a disaster should be focusing their attention elsewhere.

“The shift we’re seeing right now is a shift in emergency services from utilitarian principles — where everything is designed for the greatest good for the greatest amount of people — to disaster equity. But we have to do more,” she urged.

She then suggested existing disaster management agency policies may have been deliberately engineered to leave out vulnerable communities.

Like, it’s a conspiracy against gays?

“The topic at hand here is, are the policies that have been developed actually biased in benign neglect or intentional erasure of the specific communities that are probably most in need of those services, and does the aid then bias toward people with assets or other types of situations that weren’t part of the norm of this industry in the past.”

Atkins, visibly moved by her oratory, capped off her words with a DEI word salad.

“The topic of preparedness and preparedness resources and the intersectionalities within equities and discrimination and hate — it’s a real thing that needs to be discussed, needs to be vocalized, and we need to start looking at how we can find solutions to this.”

The initiatives raised at the panel discussion echo many of those on FEMA’s own website, which proudly proclaims instilling “equity as a foundation of emergency management” as goal 1.

“Underserved communities, as well as specific identity groups, often suffer disproportionately from disasters. As a result, disasters worsen inequities already present in society,” the declaration reads in part.

What we’re witnessing with Helene, and what we’re about to start witnessing with this new Jew hurricane that is going to land in a few hours, is that the United States government is no longer capable of responding to disasters.

The entire purpose of the American state is do wars all around the world, with the secondary goal being to import niggers from all over the world and put them on welfare. These agendas have totally stretched thin the country’s resources, and there is no energy to respond to disasters.

The Vermont Department of Health (VDH) published public advice to families on Wednesday, encouraging parents to refer to their children as “kids” rather than “son” or “daughter,” alleging that these phrases are not “inclusive” enough.

The recommendation was included in a social media post regarding “inclusive language for families.” In addition, that post advocated for the use of the term “family members” rather than “household members” to encompass incarcerated individuals, step-siblings, and others who might not live in the house.

Vermont’s Health Department is run by a handsome Jew named Mark Levine. Both his deputies are white women.

Say ‘family members’ rather than ‘household members.’ Not all families live in the same home – think divorced, or incarcerated parents, stepsiblings, etc. Say ‘family’ rather than ‘extended family.’ Often grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins are important parts of a core family unit.”

Venture capital fund Fearless Fund cannot resume making grants to Black women-owned businesses, a divided U.S. appeals court ruled on Monday, siding with an anti-affirmative action group that sued over the program.

The Atlanta-based 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals found that the group’s discrimination lawsuit was likely to succeed, reversing, opens new tab a judge’s decision that the program should be allowed to continue while the case moves forward.

The ruling is a victory for Edward Blum, the conservative activist behind the successful U.S. Supreme Court challenge to race-conscious college admissions policies.

Blum in a statement on Monday said federal “civil rights laws do not permit racial distinctions because some groups are overrepresented in various endeavors, while others are under-represented.”

Seattle Public Schools is replacing its program for gifted students with a more “inclusive” and “equitable” program in an ongoing trend of states scrapping honors classes in the name of diversity.

SPS began phasing out its Highly Capable Cohort (HCC) schools and classrooms for advanced learners in the 2021-22 school year, claiming the program did not address racial inequalities.

Its replacement, called the Highly Capable Neighborhood School Model, will be available in every school by the 2024-25 school year, SPS said. Instead of separate classrooms and schools for gifted students, all students will remain together in the same classroom and the teacher will individualize learning plans for each student.

The district announced the changes will “address historical inequity” and include “three tiers of service for students depending on individual needs, delivered in a way that honors individual cultures and backgrounds.”

Parents and teachers critical of the program told The Seattle Times that they fear gifted students will get overlooked in the new model. They also raised concerns it puts an additional burden on teachers to create personalized lesson plans for as many as 20 or 30 students.

However, advocates of the changes say the new model will address loopholes which left some students behind, such as families who couldn’t make the Saturday testing into the program because of transportation challenges.

Fox News previously reported that the school district’s gifted program was among the least diverse in the country.

“In the 2022-23 school year, 52% of highly capable students at SPS were White, 16% were Asian, and 3.4% were Black,” according to the Seattle Times’ analysis of school data.

The new program will better serve students who have been “historically excluded” from school opportunities, SPS argued.

“The program is not going away, it’s getting better. It will be more inclusive, equitable, and culturally sensitive. In particular, students who have been historically excluded will now have the same opportunities for services as every other student and get the support and enrichment they need to grow,” the district announced on its website.

You can’t have “inclusivity” and “equity” alongside the concept of “gifted,” which is necessarily meritoratic.

A New Jersey teachers union wants to change the state’s standards for entering the profession.

The Garden State currently requires that candidates for teacher certification pass a basic skills test called the Praxis Core Academic Skills for Educators, which demonstrates proficiency in reading, writing and math.

As another way of showing competency in basic skills, new teachers can show SAT, ACT or GRE scores in the top third percentile the year they were taken.

However, the New Jersey Education Association (NJEA) believes that abolishing the basic skills test will “eliminate unnecessary barriers” to the teaching profession and promote equity.

“Last year, New Jersey eliminated the edTPA, a barrier to becoming a certified teacher. Now it’s time to eliminate another barrier: the basic skills test for teachers,” a statement from the teachers union reads. The union called on Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy to sign a bill to end the requirement.

After 50 years of association with the famous Jewish name, the kindergarten in the village of Tangerhütte said that it wanted a more “diverse” identification.

The Oregon State Board of Education unanimously voted on Thursday to remove proof of mastery in reading, writing, and math in order to graduate from high school until 2029.

The board argued that requiring all students to pass one of several standardized tests or to create an in-depth assignment their teacher judged as meeting state standards was a harmful hurdle for students of color, disabled students, or those learning English as a second language. The standardized tests will still be given but will not play a role in determining whether students receive their diplomas.

“We haven’t suspended any sort of assessments,” state board member Vicky Lopez Sanchez said during the board meeting. “The only thing we are suspending is the inappropriate use of how those assessments were being used. I think that really is in the best interest of Oregon students.”

Opponents of the new order argued that removing the requirement devalues an Oregon diploma. The opponents argued that helping students with low academic skills through extra instruction in writing and math has helped them. However, supporters claim that forcing students to spend extra time on schoolwork eliminates their opportunity to take an elective and does not translate to how they perform after graduation.

“We are unable to ethically make a different decision at this point. It is also unethical for us to continue to require this when we know it can continue to cause harm and has had no change in how students are performing,” Board of Education Chairwoman Guadalupe Martinez Zapata told ABC’s KATU-2.

Pava LaPere was remembered by colleagues and friends Wednesday as part of the glue holding together Baltimore’s small tech scene.

The 26-year-old CEO of software startup EcoMap Technologies wasn’t from Baltimore, but she moved there for college and quickly fell in love with the city. LaPere’s body was found Monday at her apartment building with apparent signs of blunt-force trauma.

What’s not to love?

Members of the city’s tech community said LaPere was a fixture of conferences, happy hours and other meetups for Baltimore tech workers and founders; this year she had been recognized by Forbes magazine on its “30 Under 30” list.

But people who knew LaPere said she also had big ambitions beyond her startup: She wanted to disrupt the tech industry’s reigning power structure of white men and make way for more women and other people from disadvantaged groups.

“She was determined to shake up the industry and the good ol’ boys network,” said Delali Dzirasa, CEO of Fearless, another Baltimore-based tech startup.

Dzirasa said he spoke with LaPere on the subject as recently as last week in a phone conversation.

“I remember getting off the call and thinking, ‘They better watch out,’” he said. “It was nice to hear that energy in her voice.”

Baltimore police said LaPere was found dead Monday morning and are searching for a repeat violent offender, Jason Billingsley, as a suspect in the case. Billingsley’s mother said Wednesday she has urged her son by text to turn himself in.

LaPere was a native of Tucson, Arizona, who went to Johns Hopkins University for college, according to an interview posted on the university’s website. Sharrod Davis, EcoMap’s chief operating officer, said it was important to LaPere that the startup address inequality in society.

“She built this company that was focused on making information accessible to people who historically didn’t have access to that information,” he said.

Friends said that LaPere was well aware of the small number of tech companies started by women, and how little of venture capitalists’ investment money they get. U.S. startups with women-only founders receive just about 2% of venture capital, according to research firm PitchBook, and that percentage has stayed roughly the same for more than a decade.

“They’re overlooking women, and when they do, they rob society of all of the innovation that comes from all of that thought leadership and all of that potential,” Dzirasa said.

Like Dzirasa’s startup, EcoMap has committed to a “50/50%” goal of employing a staff that is half women and half people of color.

Conwell said that the last time he saw LaPere, he told her to make sure she was taking care of herself and making time for fun outside work. Conwell said her approach was a good match with the broader Baltimore tech scene, which is much smaller than the tech sectors in major economic centers. As a result, many founders in Baltimore are focused on tech products that would make society more equal, Conwell said — or “equitech,” for short.

“We don’t want to be the next Silicon Valley. We want to be the first equitech city,” he said.

Wednesday night, hundreds of people gathered in the shadows of the historic George Washington monument in Baltimore’s Mount Vernon neighborhood to honor LaPere. The tech community showed up and remembered the 5-foot-2-inch LaPere as a “giant” who spoke fast and loudly and a visionary who saw potential in people.

“She knew what she wanted to accomplish, and there was nothing in the world that would get in the way of accomplishing that,” her father, Frank LaPere, said.

But something did get in the way of accomplishing that, didn’t it?

“She was the definition of daddy’s little girl. She had me wrapped and still does,” he said, his voice cracking. “She turned from daddy’s little girl into being a girl boss.”

Davis, EcoMap’s COO, said the startup will be speaking with investors and others in the coming days to figure out what’s next.

A school board west of Toronto is facing calls to be more transparent about the so-called “weeding” of its libraries amid concerns some books are being removed from collections solely because they were published before 2008.

Students who attend schools in the Peel District School Board say they’ve seen half-empty shelves at their libraries as the school year begins, with some popular fiction texts missing.

The board needs to provide a clear explanation on what has happened, the students say, and share details on how libraries with half-empty shelves will be replenished.

“I’m actually very concerned and I’m very confused,” Saisha Luciani, a 15-year-old student at a Mississauga, Ont., school in Peel Region, said in an interview Thursday.

“These books were resources for students like me to get into universities, to write essays, to do better in school.”

Not anymore, bitch.

Ontario’s education minister asked the board this week to put an immediate stop to its weeding process _ which assesses and removes older books _ saying it was “illogical” to remove books from years past that educate students on history, antisemitism or are celebrated classics.

The board has said older books, regardless of publication date, are allowed in schools if they are “accurate, relevant to the student population, inclusive, not harmful, and support the current curriculum.”

Luciani, other students and an advocacy group made up of concerned Peel school community members said it appears some texts have been removed just for being more than 15 years old, based on new board weeding guidelines that instruct librarians to carry out the process with an equity lens

Reina Takata, a Grade 10 student, said her school librarian recently informed students that books published before 2008 were no longer available since the board implemented its new weeding guidelines earlier this year.

“A lot of my favourite books are published before 2008 and if I don’t get a chance to read them, that’s pretty upsetting for me,” Takata said Thursday while standing outside her school in Mississauga.

“I noticed that ‘The Hunger Games’ is now gone. ‘Harry Potter’ series is gone…Now there are rows upon rows of empty shelves. Why wasn’t our opinion consulted as students?”
