Zhang Yazhou was sitting in the passenger seat of her Tesla Model 3 when she said she heard her father’s panicked voice: The brakes don’t work! Approaching a red light, her father swerved around two cars before plowing into an SUV and a sedan and crashing into a large concrete barrier.

Stunned, Zhang gazed at the deflating airbag in front of her. She could never have imagined what was to come: Tesla sued her for defamation for complaining publicly about the car’s brakes — and won. A Chinese court ordered Zhang to pay more than $23,000 in damages and publicly apologize to the $1.1 trillion company.

Zhang is not the only one to find herself in the crosshairs of Tesla, which is led by Elon Musk, among the richest men in the world and a self-described “ free speech absolutist.” Over the last four years, Tesla has sued at least six car owners in China who had sudden vehicle malfunctions, quality complaints or accidents they claimed were caused by mechanical failures.

The company has also sued at least six bloggers and two Chinese media outlets that wrote critically about the company, according to a review of public court documents and Chinese media reports by The Associated Press. Tesla won all eleven cases for which AP could determine the verdicts. Two judgments, including Zhang’s, are on appeal. One case was settled out of court.

The February 2021 crash in central China’s Henan province sent Zhang’s mother and father, who had a concussion, to the hospital for four days, medical records show. Zhang — who was unharmed in the accident, as was her baby niece — wanted to understand what had happened: How could her dream car have turned into such a nightmare?

Traffic police determined that the crash was her dad’s fault because he hadn’t maintained a safe following distance. Zhang, however, insisted that the brakes had malfunctioned, sending the car out of control. She filed a complaint with a local market regulator, requesting a refund and compensation. Teslas are among the most computerized cars on the market, so Zhang asked the automaker to turn over the full pre-crash data from her car, hoping it might help explain what went wrong. Tesla refused.

“Tesla’s employees were very arrogant and tough in dealing with my complaints,” Zhang said in an interview. “I was burning with anger.”

After weeks of stewing, she draped her damaged car with a banner proclaiming “Tesla brake failure” in front of the Tesla dealership in Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan province, some 200 km (124 miles) from her home. She sat on the Tesla’s roof and blared her protest through a bullhorn: “Tesla Model 3 brakes failed,” she said. “A family of four almost died.” The next month, she parked her damaged car outside an auto show in Zhengzhou. It was all to no avail — Tesla refused to turn over the full data and mediation went nowhere.

Tesla said Zhang had deliberately spread false information that damaged the brand and asked for 5 million yuan ($684,000) in damages.

The case, which a court took up in October 2021, came as Tesla faced a barrage of criticism in China.

Dozens of Tesla owners had been publicly complaining about alleged brake failures, battery fires, unintended acceleration and other defects, as well as what they claimed were misleading sales practices. The same month as Zhang’s crash, Chinese regulators summoned Tesla to respond to quality concerns raised by such reports.

Zhang’s emotional protest sparked a rare burst of criticism of Tesla in Chinese media. Under pressure from regulators, Tesla finally released the data from her car, which the company said showed her father had been driving nearly 120 km per hour (75 mph) and that the brakes had functioned to reduce the magnitude of the collision.

Tesla had finally given Zhang what she’d been asking for, but they’d published the data publicly and included her vehicle identification number. She said she and her family started getting threatened and doxed online. Besides, she wondered, how could she be sure Tesla hadn’t modified or redacted the data from her car? It was less than the victory she’d hoped for. Feeling besieged, she sued Tesla a second time, in March 2022, for invading her privacy.

Zhang lost both cases she brought against Tesla.

Meanwhile, the defamation case against her was grinding along. Back in court as a defendant, Zhang was unable to prove that the brakes on her Tesla had indeed failed. In a closed trial, a Shanghai court ruled in May 2024 that Zhang’s public complaints went beyond what magistrates considered reasonable, factual criticism and ordered her to publicly apologize and pay 170,000 RMB ($23,000) to cover damages and the legal costs of the world’s most valuable car company.

Zhang appealed the ruling. She maintains that her lawsuit is a cry for transparency and accountability and that a company as rich and powerful as Tesla should be able to tolerate legitimate criticism from its customers.

“I refuse to accept it,” Zhang told the Associated Press, “As a consumer, even if I said something wrong, I have the right to comment and criticize. I spoke about my feelings as a user of the car. It has nothing to do with damaging their reputation.”

Her odds of winning the appeal against Tesla do not look good. Tesla has not only won the defamation cases it brought against unhappy car owners and critical journalists, it’s also prevailed in lawsuits customers have filed against it.

Zhang posted videos about it on her Weibo account.

Safety advocates worry about the implications of Musk’s proximity to power in the United States. Federal investigations and safety initiatives Musk has long railed against could be easily snuffed out by the new administration.

In the U.S., Tesla also has been subject to a raft of customer safety complaints and lawsuits over autopilot function, battery charging, alleged suspension defects, sudden braking or acceleration, faulty airbags and allegedly monopolistic practices on repairs and parts. Judges have dismissed some cases. In others, Tesla settled out of court or paid hefty settlements.

Tesla has not publicly sued any of its U.S. customers for speaking out, though in January, Musk said on X that “maybe it is time” to sue media outlets for coverage that could stain Tesla’s brand. His post has been viewed more than 22 million times.

Tesla has already successfully done that in China.

How much is a self-driving Tesla, which isn’t really self-driving and will kill you?

They screw with the numbers on their website, and no one pays MSRP, but I’d guess a Tesla with the “full-self driving” (which again, isn’t full self-driving) is well over $60,000, and then you pay $8,000 to turn the “FSD” software on.

It is the most ridiculous thing in the world that the Chinese are selling EVs with FSD that works and which you don’t have to pay for for $10,000.

It seems like if people were aware of this, they would be angry that the US government is preventing them from buying these cars. Being able to get any brand new car for $10,000 would really help a lot of Americans, who are struggling with money a lot more than people in China.

China’s BYD on Monday started offering advanced autonomous driving features on most of its models including ones priced as low as $9,555, far undercutting competitors such as Tesla in a move analysts say is set to start a new price war.

They had already announced this and I wrote about it months ago.

I don’t know why Reuters just lies like this. Maybe they’re talking about the English language press release, I don’t know, but this is definitely not a new announcement.

The electric vehicle giant has equipped all of its BYD-branded models priced above 100,000 yuan ($13,688) with the company’s proprietary “God’s Eye” advanced driver-assistance system, BYD founder Wang Chuanfu told an event livestreamed from Shenzhen.

It has also installed the system in three models priced below 100,000 yuan, the cheapest being the Seagull priced from 69,800 yuan. It began sales of those models, 21 in total, immediately after the event. Wang said these would be the “first batch”.

BYD had previously only offered such features, which enable cars to navigate highway traffic autonomously under human drivers’ supervision, in models priced from $30,000. Tesla has these features available in China in its EVs priced from $32,000.

Anticipation over how BYD’s smart driving plans could shake up the already highly competitive automotive market has built up since last week, sending the firm’s shares up by 16% since Thursday when Chinese media reported on plans for the event.

I think the Teslas in China are forced to install the BYD software for FSD, since Tesla’s own FSD will just kill you, and often kill others as well.

Tesla recently won a court case based on the claim that they don’t claim that the product they call “FSD” is actually “full self-driving,” and it’s actually just a fun little gimmick, and you need to keep your hands on the wheel at all times or it will crash.

To be fair, even the Google FSD works. It’s being used in San Francisco and Phoenix, and it works. They have driverless taxis. They kill people sometimes, but they basically work. Tesla is not even involved in these pilot programs, because they can’t get any FSD to work at all.

Somehow, Elon goes around talking about how he’s the leader in FSD. It would be one thing if the US media was hiding the fact that China’s works (even if they are printing backpage Reuters news items about it), but the fact that Google’s works makes it very strange that Elon is able to continue getting away with claiming his FSD is the industry leader.

When I first saw this story several hours ago, I laughed and thought it poetic. Frankly, I didn’t see anything suspicious about a Tesla exploding, especially in hot Nevada weather.

However, there are now investigations into whether or not this was a bomb. If it was a bomb, that doesn’t make much sense, as the driver was the only one killed. Fireworks, I guess is possible.

One person died and seven more were injured on Wednesday when a Tesla truck caught fire and exploded outside Donald Trump’s Las Vegas hotel, authorities said.

Las Vegas metropolitan police and Clark county fire department officials in Nevada said at a news conference that a person died inside the vehicle.

Another seven people nearby received minor injuries and were taken to a hospital for treatment.

According to a law enforcement official, the truck was rented via the Turo app and appeared to be carrying a large load of fireworks. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly.

Elon Musk, the tech industry leader who owns Tesla, swiftly posted on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter before he bought it, saying that “the whole Tesla senior team” was investigating what happened.

Musk later posted further, saying: “We have now confirmed that the explosion was caused by very large fireworks and/or a bomb carried in the bed of the rented Cybertruck and is unrelated to the vehicle itself.”

Law enforcement officials have not ruled out terrorism as a possible motive, a person familiar with the matter said. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly discuss details of the investigation.

Musk is going so far as to claim it is “probably terrorism,” linking it to the NYE NOLA attack.

It’s not clear whether anyone would want to believe Elon saying it’s a bomb, as of course he would say that, given that it is very embarrassing that his cars do nothing but explode constantly, especially since much cheaper Chinese EVs solved this problem many years ago.

But hey, maybe it was a bomb. Or New Year’s fireworks. Nevada, I assume, has very liberal fireworks laws, and these things do sometimes blow up.

But it’s probably safe to say this was probably not terrorism. If it is “terrorism,” it is some weird psy-op. No one did a suicide bombing of a Tesla in front of the Trump casino. Maybe if the driver had parked the “car” and triggered it remotely, it would look like leftist terrorism.

But a leftist suicide bombing? I seriously doubt it.

I would be less surprised if Elon did this himself in order to make himself a victim and distract from his terrible publicity situation. In fact, that wouldn’t really surprise me at all. He probably installs “remote detonation” systems in these cars. (It wouldn’t be a literal “explosion button,” but rather a system that causes the “engine” to overheat and can be used to start a fire.)

I just think it’s funny.

The Trump transition team wants the incoming administration to drop a car-crash reporting requirement opposed by Elon Musk’s Tesla, according to a document seen by Reuters, a move that could cripple the government’s ability to investigate and regulate the safety of vehicles with automated-driving systems.

Musk, the world’s richest person, spent more than a quarter of a billion dollars helping Trump get elected president in November. Removing the crash-disclosure provision would particularly benefit Tesla, which has reported most of the crashes – more than 1,500 – to federal safety regulators under the program. Tesla has been targeted in National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) investigations, including three stemming from the data.

The recommendation to kill the crash-reporting rule came from a transition team tasked with producing a 100-day strategy for automotive policy. The group called the measure a mandate for “excessive” data collection, the document seen by Reuters shows.

A Reuters analysis of the NHTSA crash data shows Tesla accounted for 40 out of 45 fatal crashes reported to NHTSA through Oct. 15.

That sounds bad, but the US government has banned all the other self-driving cars because they’re from China.

Among the Tesla crashes NHTSA investigated under the provision were a 2023 fatal accident in Virginia where a driver using the car’s “Autopilot” feature slammed into a tractor-trailer and a California wreck the same year where an Autopiloted Tesla hit a firetruck, killing the driver and injuring four firefighters.

NHTSA said in a statement that such data is crucial to evaluating the safety of emerging automated-driving technologies. Two former NHTSA employees said the crash-reporting requirements were pivotal to agency investigations into Tesla’s driver-assistance features that led to 2023 recalls. Without the data, they said, NHTSA cannot easily detect crash patterns that highlight safety problems.

In addition to ditching the reporting rule, the recommendations call for the administration to “liberalize” autonomous-vehicle regulation and to enact “basic regulations to enable development” of the industry.

Tesla despises the crash-notification requirement, believing that NHTSA presents the data in ways that mislead consumers about the automaker’s safety, two sources familiar with Tesla executives’ thinking told Reuters.

In recent years, Tesla executives discussed with Musk the need to push for scrapping the crash-reporting requirement, according to one of the sources. But because Biden officials expressed enthusiasm for the program, Tesla executives ultimately concluded that they would need a change in administration to get rid of the requirements, according to the source.

Tesla finds the rules unfair because it believes it reports better data than other automakers, which makes it look like Tesla is responsible for an outsized number of crashes involving advanced driver-assistance systems, one of the sources said.

Elon Musk says all of this racist stuff on Twitter to make people believe that the government only comes after him because of his politics. In reality, he commits many different crimes, including large-scale murder and censorship.

He belongs in jail.

A speeding Tesla violently smashed into a sheet of rock and burst into flames on a Westchester County road Tuesday morning, killing the two occupants inside, officials said.

The horrific wreck happened in Pelham Manor near the Bronx border around 9:15 a.m. after the ritzy car zipped right through the intersection and crashed into the barrier. The car quickly became an inferno as local firefighters rushed to the scene.

The driver and their passenger were pronounced dead after the flames were put out, Pelham Manor fire chief Michael Greco said. Their identities were not revealed Tuesday night.

While it took about 20 minutes to extinguish the fire, firefighters were on scene for hours to remove the bodies and secure the lithium ion batteries that were strewn across the roadway.

This looks like it was driver error, not the botched fake “self-driving,” but a normal car doesn’t explode in flames due to a small crash, and if it does somehow catch fire, it doesn’t take 20 minutes to extinguish.

These “cars” are death machines. They burst into flames and just melt.

If you’re inside, you melt.

Elon Musk should make Tesla branded suicide machines. Suicide is a really big industry now, and Tesla is a lot better at killing people than they are at ripping off Chinese technologies.

Three people were killed and one seriously injured early Wednesday when a Tesla Cybertruck crashed and caught fire in Northern California, officials said.

Piedmont Police Chief Jeremy Bowers said speed was likely a factor in the single-vehicle collision, but he added that authorities would continue to investigate the circumstances of the tragedy.

The Cybertruck’s occupants had been driving back from a “function” around 3:10 a.m. Wednesday, but Bowers would not give additional details. Someone who also had been at the function, but was driving in a separate car, was able to pull the surviving victim out of the Cybertruck.

The Cybertruck, which has been on sale for about a year, has been recalled six times for safety problems, most recently on Nov. 5 because a fault in an electric inverter can cause the drive wheels to lose power.

The Tesla suicide machine could be called “Tesla’s Ender,” and the slogan could be “We’ll Burn You Alive.”

China has repeatedly pointed out that the EU’s anti-subsidy investigation into Chinese EVs is irrational, fraught with numerous non-compliance issues, and is a protectionist move under the guise of “fair competition,” said the spokesperson in a statement released on the ministry’s website.

China has already appealed to the WTO’s dispute settlement mechanism over the issue, and will continue to take all necessary measures to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.

Apparently, everyone is going to have to buy Teslas and burn alive.

A “rules-based order” does not exist anywhere in the West. It’s most obvious when the US is calling Putin a “war criminal” while sending ten tonne bombs to Israel to use to kill innocent children. But the same thing is true about the supposed order of global free trade. The West made these rules, made all of these deals with the Chinese, then when they want to hurt the Chinese because they are too heterosexual, they start violating the treaties and doing protectionism.

Mercedes is making EVs, so this is in theory an opposition to banning the competition.

It’s very easy for Germany to whine, because it doesn’t mean anything, because they apparently have no control of EU law.

A decade ago, you thought it was a joke when they were talking about banning cars.

Now, here we are.

They’re under no obligation to prove that driving a car causes hurricanes. They just declare it and then women force it on everyone, because women are obsessed with rules.

The EU’s plans to ban the manufacture of traditional combustion engines from 2035 will shrink the industry, BMW’s chief executive has warned as the German car industry battles with increased competition from China in the electric vehicle sector.

In a comment that will alarm Brussels, Oliver Zipse told the Paris motor show the 2035 cutoff point for CO2-emitting cars was “no longer realistic”.

At what point was it realistic?

What was this even based on? Elon Musk’s goofy lies to his shareholders?

The ban “could also threaten the European automotive industry in its heart,” Zipse said. The measures will “with today’s assumptions, lead to a massive shrinking of the industry as a whole”.

European car manufacturers are out in force in Paris to defend their home turf, with Chinese brands representing just one-fifth of those on show compared with 2022 when they accounted for half the brands displayed.

That’s because they’re getting cockblocked.

BMW, one of the driving forces of the German car industry, is showcasing 15 electric vehicles in Paris, the most important industry event in the calendar.

On Monday Carlos Tavares, the chief executive of the Fiat, Citroën and Vauxhall owner Stellantis, said proposed tariffs on Chinese cars would speed up plant closures in Europe, as they would push Beijing to move manufacturing to the continent in direct competition with European brands.

This is all just backasswards nonsense.


If you actually wanted to force everyone to drive electric cars, you would have to allow the Chinese ones. But the vaginal Europeans are obsessed with the American dictate to cockblock China. Europe is run by women and the rules-makers are in Washington, so China gets banned.

But even if you allowed Chinese EVs, if you were banning normal cars, it would completely destroy all European carmakers. Does anyone want that?

This is obviously another conspiracy to sabotage the goyim. It makes no sense otherwise. Just like forcing all of these immigrants on white people was a massive social-engineering program to destroy society, this is a scheme to take away the autonomy cars provide for people in Western countries.

The EU is run by globalists who are also huge believers in the stupid global warming hoax.

Also, they are doing a trade war with China to stop vehicles they claim will alter the weather.

The European Union will press ahead with hefty tariffs on China-made electric vehicles, the EU executive said on Friday, even after the bloc’s largest economy Germany rejected them, exposing a rift over its biggest trade row with Beijing in a decade.

The proposed duties on EVs built in China of up to 45% would cost carmakers billions of extra dollars to bring cars into the bloc and are set to be imposed from next month for five years.

The Commission, which oversees the bloc’s trade policy, has said they would counter what it sees as unfair Chinese subsidies after a year-long anti-subsidy investigation, but it also said on Friday it would continue talks with Beijing.

A possible compromise could be to set minimum sales prices.

That means they are forcing you to buy these EVs, but they’re going to charge you extra money because… because of alleged subsidies? What does that mean?

In a pivotal vote on Friday, 10 EU members backed tariffs and five voted against, with 12 abstentions, EU sources said.

It would have taken opposition from a qualified majority of 15 EU members, representing 65% of the EU population, to block the proposal. Reuters reported on Wednesday that the measure was likely to pass with France, Italy and Poland in favour.

The region’s biggest economy and major car producer, Germany, voted against the proposal, sources said on Friday.

The EU executive said it had obtained “the necessary support” to adopt the tariffs, although it would continue talks with Beijing to find an alternative solution.

Friday’s vote reflected divisions over EU commercial relations with China. Some nations want a firm line against what they see as excessive state subsidies and are mindful of the EU’s failure to impose tariffs on Chinese solar panels a decade ago. China has a share of over 90% of the EU photovoltaic market.

Other countries want to encourage Chinese investment or fear a tit-for-tat trade war.

China’s Commerce Ministry expressed strong opposition to planned EU tariffs, calling them “unfair, non-compliant and unreasonable”, violating World Trade Organization rules, although it made no mention of any counter measures. It has already launched a WTO challenge.

The “subsidies” argument would only make sense if European companies had an equivalent product that was being undermined, and even then, it would go totally against the “free trade” doctrines that neoliberalism is based on.

What about Tesla subsidies?

What about the fact that every Western country gives de facto subsidies to all major companies?

Further, what is the on-balance cost-benefit to the EU economy? Isn’t protecting the EU economy the purpose of whining about “subsidies”?

This is a farce. This is no different than the “dumping” claim (which actually makes even less sense). It’s a placeholder argument, just so some argument appears to exist to explain why the EU is launching a militant trade war against China.

What is the real reasoning for this trade war? It’s not good for the economies of European countries. I suppose if they pulled back on their global warming horseshit, it wouldn’t really matter, but they’re not pulling back on that, they’re just demanding people drive inferior, more expensive EVs.

Are they doing this because of that science fiction “news article” in Haaretz about harvesting the organs of living people with no anesthetic?

Based on the “eternal support for the Jews principle,” maybe we have to believe that ridiculous nonsense and go on a warpath?

It’s either that, or the Europeans just do whatever the hell the Americans tell them to do, to the point where there isn’t really much reason for European governments to exist at all.
