Stanley Brown.

Motorcyclists, cyclists, pedestrians… these are just three of the things that might as well be considered bowling pins when a drunk dindu is on the road.

KBJR6:

A Duluth man has changed his plea to guilty after hitting and killing a motorcyclist while he was allegedly drinking and driving in the Denfeld neighborhood in May.

Stanley Brown pleaded guilty to criminal vehicular homicide and refusing to submit to a breath test in connection to a crash which left Peter Seppanen dead.

…

Police say Seppanen was driving up 40th Avenue West on a motorcycle near Horseshoe Bend.

According to court documents, Brown was apparently driving down the hill.

Witnesses say Brown crossed over the center line, hit the motorcycle and apparently kept driving.

Brown is scheduled to be sentenced in December.

Stanley Brown.

Most nogs are going to speed off if they hit someone with their vehicle.

First, it’s not in their nature to accept responsibility for their actions. Second, many of them are either driving stolen cars or (in this case) carrying illegal substances, so it behooves them to flee the scene before the authorities arrive.

Duluth News Tribune:

Stanley Brown, a 30-year-old Duluth resident, appeared in court Friday to face charges related to a fatal hit-and-run collision that left Peter Seppanen, a 30-year-old Esko man, dead Tuesday.

Brown was charged with criminal vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a collision, a crime that could result in a sentence of up to 10 years in prison and/or a fine of $20,000. He also was charged with fifth-degree possession of a controlled substance and second-degree refusal to submit to a chemical test.

At 6:54 p.m. Tuesday, law enforcement was dispatched to the scene of a collision at Horseshoe Bend on 40th Avenue West. There, they found Seppanen lying face-down and unconscious not far from a damaged motorcycle. Witnesses said Seppanen was traveling uphill on 40th Avenue West, when he was struck by a down-bound red Jeep that crossed the center line into his lane of traffic, tossing him into the air upon impact.

A short while later, a vehicle of the same description was located at 52nd Avenue West. Brown was outside the vehicle attempting to change a flat tire. The Jeep had sustained front-end damage to the hood and windshield.

Brown was taken into custody by the Minnesota State Patrol, and a criminal complaint said he was found to be in possession of 1.47 grams of marijuana.

After smelling what seemed to be alcohol on Brown’s breath, Duluth police asked him to submit to a breath test, but he failed to provide a large enough sample, despite three separate attempts.

In a police interview the following day, the complaint says Brown admitted to operating the vehicle at the time of the collision and confessed that he had been drinking prior to the incident. Brown also reportedly said he may have been looking at his phone and took a turn too wide. He said he never saw the motorcycle until the collision occurred.

…

Brown lost his license once before in January of 2018 for impaired driving and had a prior controlled substance conviction in Cook County, Ill.

Darrel Darryl Mayhew.

Oh boy, this will be good.

Here’s how I think this will pan out:

1.) He lets it slip that he killed the victim within the first week of the trial
2.) He spends the remainder of his time attempting to convince the jury that the victim deserved it, that he’s the real victim, or both

These self-representing nogs tend to do that. A lot.

Duluth News Tribune:

A Duluth man plans to represent himself at a murder trial next week.

Darrel Darryl Mayhew, 30, discharged his public defender Tuesday, telling a judge he intends to present his own case to a jury.

Authorities allege Mayhew struck 70-year-old Larry Watczak over the head with a blunt object before taking off with his cellphone, tablet computer and roughly $2 in cash during a Jan. 2 home invasion on Park Point. Although Watczak was able to briefly speak with police, he quickly slipped into a coma and died 10 days later.

Mayhew is charged with intentional second-degree murder, unintentional second-degree murder, aggravated first-degree robbery and first-degree burglary.

Jury selection is scheduled to begin Tuesday. If convicted, he faces up to 40 years in prison.

“Defendant must be prepared to fully try the case himself,” 6th Judicial District Judge Dale Harris wrote in a three-page order approving Mayhew’s request.

Ayron Poche and victim Janet Keenan.

We shouldn’t place too much emphasis on this chap’s skin color.

White men drive into houses and flee from the ensuing infernos all the time.

The newspapers just cover it up because they’re owned by Jews, and Jews don’t like depicting their fellow white people in a negative light.

AJC:

A Duluth man is set to appear in court Wednesday and face a murder charge, more than two weeks after he allegedly drove his car into the side of a Gwinnett County home, killing a woman who was inside.

Ayron Poche, 24, was driving on Meadow Church Road in unincorporated Suwanee about 5 a.m. on Jan. 21, Gwinnett police said in a statement Wednesday. His Toyota Camry hit the side of a home, causing the car and building to catch fire, police said. Poche allegedly left the scene on foot, while 72-year-old Janet Keenan called 911 from inside.

“Though she tried to exit the home, she eventually went unconscious,” police said. First responders took the woman to the hospital.

Four days later, investigators identified Poche as the driver and arrested him, police said. He was charged with several crimes, including hit-and-run, serious injury by vehicle and reckless driving. No bond was set for Poche.

On Feb. 2, Keenan died as a result of her injuries, so Poche was additionally charged with felony murder and criminal damage to property in the second degree.

Darrel Darryl Mayhew.

More and more, we’re beginning to see black-on-white murders occur in cities that were, until very recently, almost 100% white.

In this case, it’s Duluth, MN.

Nowhere is safe from the black plague…

Duluth News Tribune:

A Duluth man made his first court appearance Monday on murder charges stemming from a Jan. 2 Park Point home invasion.

Darrel Darryl Mayhew, 29, is charged with four felonies in connection with the death of 70-year-old Larry Watczak. Authorities allege that Mayhew walked through the front door of Watczak’s home and struck him over the head with a blunt object, leaving with Watczak’s cellphone, tablet computer and roughly $2 in cash.

Watczak remained in a coma for 10 days, during which time Mayhew was arraigned on several charges including assault. After Watczak’s Jan. 12 death at a Duluth hospital, St. Louis County prosecutor Rebekka Stumme added the murder charges.

Mayhew appeared briefly before 6th Judicial District Judge Dale Harris, who signed the amended criminal complaint. The defendant waived a 28-day deadline to appear for an omnibus hearing, at which he can challenge probable cause or constitutional issues.

Defense attorney J.D. Schmid told the judge he has received numerous police reports, body-camera footage and audio recordings but said he is still awaiting other evidence including surveillance video before determining how to proceed with the defense.

Harris scheduled the omnibus hearing for March 4.

Andrew0203c1
Carolyn Lee Andrew ended up in a shallow grave in Duluth’s Twin Ponds in 1981.

Carrie Andrew’s body was found facedown, partially submerged in Twin Ponds near Enger Park on May 6, 1981. She had died of a single small-caliber bullet to her head.

A passerby spotted her body about 2:15 p.m. that day about 15 feet below Skyline Parkway. It remains unknown how long her body lay in the water — she was last seen at about 8 p.m. the day before.

Andrew’s parents reported that she had left their Farley Lane residence on the evening of May 5 to walk to the nearby Ridgeview Lanes bowling alley, where she was to meet some friends. She was last seen by two friends walking on Calvary Road toward the bowling alley.

Andrew graduated from Duluth East High School in January 1981, having completed her coursework early, and was planning to take part in the spring commencement ceremony, according to newspaper accounts at the time. She had taken a modeling course at a Twin Cities school that winter and did some work modeling clothes at the Miller Hill Mall.

Her sudden and unexplained death led to days of front page headlines as investigators struggled to develop leads and conduct interviews with anyone who knew her.

There was no evidence that she had been sexually assaulted, and it did not appear that she had put up a fight before being shot.

“She certainly didn’t expect to be killed,” Detective Inspector Ernest Grams said in a 1981 News Tribune story. “She didn’t have an opportunity to defend herself.”

Evidence submitted to the BCA at the time also failed to uncover any new information. Police even drained the ponds in the weeks after her body was discovered in a fruitless effort to uncover any useful information.

Over the years, investigators conducted hundreds of interviews and followed hundreds of leads. Duluth Police Chief Gordon Ramsay credited the collaborative effort of the two agencies in finally cracking the case.

“It’s the relationship that we have with the BCA and the good work that was done early on in this case that brings it to an end,” he said. “We’re proud of where we are today.“

COLDCASE0203c10BW
Nearly 34 years later, authorities believe they’ve finally determined the identity of her killer, who as always was Black. It was Cecil Wayne Oliver, who died himself in 1988.

DNA technology credited

If not for significant advances in DNA technology over the past three decades, investigators said the case would probably remain unsolved.

Over the years, BCA forensic scientists continued to work with DNA that was recovered from Andrew’s body, eventually tracing it back to a male subject. Using databases of criminal offenders, scientists continued to search for a match to the DNA.

“It was clear that the person who left this DNA at the scene was not in any of the convicted offender databases that we were able to search,” said Catherine Knutson, director of BCA Forensic Science Services.

Then the big break came in March 2014.

Using new technology, investigators found a partial match between the DNA sample and an offender in the system. Testing indicated that the man who provided the sample was closely related to the man whose DNA was found on Andrew’s body.

It turned out that offender in the DNA database was Cecil Oliver’s son.

Oliver died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in Chicago in 1988 at the age of 30. At the request of local officials, authorities in Chicago recently obtained a DNA sample from his remains.
