I don’t think the North Koreans crossed the border.

They’re not stupid and they’re trying to avoid war.

The Guardian:

South Korea’s military has said it fired warning shots after North Korean soldiers briefly crossed the border this week, amid rising tensions after Pyongyang sent rubbish-carrying balloons into the South and Seoul retaliated with a loudspeaker propaganda campaign.

“Some North Korean soldiers working within the DMZ on the central front briefly crossed the Military Demarcation Line,” the Joint Chiefs of Staff [JCS] said in a statement on Tuesday, referring to the line of control in the heavily fortified border between the two Koreas.

“After our military issued warning broadcasts and warning shots, they retreated northward,” it said, adding the incident happened 9 June.

“Apart from the immediate retreat of the North Korean soldiers following our warning shots, there were no unusual movements observed”, the JCS said, adding the military was closely monitoring troops near the border.

South Korea’s military has assessed that the North Korean soldiers didn’t appear to have intentionally crossed the border because the site is a wooded area and MDL signs there weren’t clearly visible, JCS spokesperson Lee Sung Joon told reporters.

The mine-strewn DMZ is the world’s most heavily armed border, with hundreds of thousands of troops facing each other – a legacy of the 1950-53 Korean war, which ended with an armistice but not a peace treaty.

Tensions between the two Koreas – which remain technically at war – are at one of their highest points in years.

It’s possible there was an accident, but I doubt it.

Probably, this is a hoax.

Thinking about Ukraine, Gaza, Iran, South China Sea, it’s easy to forget that the US is also still trying to start a war in Korea.

South Korea should stop thinking so much about starting wars for America and start thinking about how to compel their females into producing children.

It’s not going to be long before the North Koreans can just start settling in the South, because there won’t be anyone but elderly people living there.

North Korea Says Black Soldier Who Defected was Escaping Racists https://www.anglinarchive.com/2023/08/16/north-korea-says-black-soldier-who-defected-was-escaping-racists/ Wed, 16 Aug 2023 00:00:00 +0000

This niggas just be trying to breef.

BBC:

North Korea has said US soldier Travis King crossed into its territory last month because of “inhuman maltreatment and racial discrimination” in the army.

The 23-year-old private dashed across the border from South Korea on 18 July while on a guided tour.

Private King admitted to crossing illegally and wanted refuge in the North, state news agency KCNA reported.

It is the first time Pyongyang has acknowledged detaining the soldier. The claims have not been verified.

They appeared in a statement which has so far only been published by the government-controlled KCNA. It did not provide further details about Private King’s health or whether the country would accept him as a refugee.

Concerns have been growing for the welfare of the US soldier, who has not been heard from or seen since his crossing.

The US is trying to negotiate Private King’s release with the help of the UN Command, which runs the border area, and has a direct phoneline to the North Korean army.

Responding to the North Korean report on Wednesday, a Pentagon official said the US could not verify the claims and its priority was to have Private King brought home safely “through all available channels”.

North Korea has given no information on how it plans to treat Private King but said the soldier admitted he had “illegally” entered the country.

The fact that North Korea’s statement emphasised Private King’s illegal entry suggests that it is not thinking of having him stay even if he wants to, said Christopher Green, a senior consultant at the think-tank International Crisis Group.

Poor guy just can’t catch a break.

If only there was a place for him where he could just live in peace, away from all this senseless hatred of the color of the skin…

Alas, no such place exists, and they’re forced to live in white countries.

“That is not surprising. He would lose all his political value to them if that were the case,” said Mr Green, but added that North Korea is in no rush to negotiate Travis King’s return to the US just yet.

“They have very publicly thrown in their lot with Beijing and Moscow, as high-level delegation visits from both countries to Pyongyang in recent weeks show. It is a mistake to think that North Korea is or needs to be in a hurry to deal with the Travis King mess,” he said.

The statement on KCNA did not say if he would face prosecution or punishment, and there was no mention of his current whereabouts or condition.

“During the investigation, Travis King confessed that he had decided to come over to the DPRK [North Korea] as he harboured ill feeling against inhuman maltreatment and racial discrimination within the US Army,” KCNA reported.

“He also expressed his willingness to seek refuge in the DPRK or a third country, saying that he was disillusioned at the unequal American society.”

Private King is a reconnaissance specialist who has been in the army since January 2021 and was in South Korea as part of his rotation.

Before crossing the border, he served two months in detention in South Korea for assault charges and was released on 10 July.

He was supposed to fly back to the US to face disciplinary proceedings but managed to leave the airport and join a tour of the Demilitarised Zone (DMZ), which separates North and South Korea.

The DMZ, one of the most heavily fortified areas in the world, is filled with landmines, surrounded by electric and barbed wire fencing, and monitored by surveillance cameras. Armed guards are supposed to be on alert 24 hours a day although witnesses say there were no North Korean soldiers present when Private King ran over.

His family have previously told US media that he had relayed experiencing racism in the army. They also said his mental health appeared to have declined after he spent time in a South Korean jail.

Is Lloyd Austin next?

I heard Jake Sullivan called him “boy.”

The struggle is real

South Korea and America Try to Do Show of Strength, But Missile Malfunctions and Crashes https://www.anglinarchive.com/2022/10/06/south-korea-and-america-try-to-do-show-of-strength-but-missile-malfunctions-and-crashes/ Thu, 06 Oct 2022 00:00:00 +0000

This whole World War III thing is a bumbling debacle, reaching slapstick comedy levels.

People are making fun of Russia’s losses in the Ukraine. Maybe there is something to make fun of there, maybe they should have been prepared for a total onslaught from the entirety of NATO. Things are clearly going to change on that front after the mobilization gets rolling.

Meanwhile, the US and her allies can’t even fire missiles correctly.

The Guardian:

South Korea’s military has apologised after a missile it launched during a drill on Tuesday malfunctioned and crashed to the ground, causing alarm among nearby residents who thought they were under attack from North Korea, which had test launched a missile earlier in the day.

The live-fire drill, involving South Korea and the US, was supposed to be a show of strength by the allies, hours after the North sent an intermediate-range missile over northern Japan.

Instead, it ended in embarrassment when a short-range Hyumoo-2 ballistic missile crashed to the ground inside an air force base near the South Korean coastal city of Gangneung.

Although the missile did not explode, the noise and subsequent fire caused some Gangneung residents to believe the North had launched an attack, according to media reports. There were no reports of injuries.

The South Korean military acknowledged the accident hours after internet users posted videos showing an orange ball of flames emerging from an area they described as near a Gangneung air force base.

The military said it was investigating what had caused the “abnormal flight” of the South Korean missile – a key part of its preemptive and retaliatory strike strategies against the North.

The accident occurred as the South Korean and US militaries fired a volley of missiles into the East Sea – also known as the Sea of Japan – in response to North Korea firing a ballistic missile over Japan for the first time in five years.

When it comes to North and South Korea, the North is definitely the country that is more serious about war.

Kim Fires Missiles After US Vice President Kamala Harris Leaves South Korea https://www.anglinarchive.com/2022/09/30/best-korea-fires-missiles-after-us-vice-president-kamala-harris-leaves-worst-korea/ Fri, 30 Sep 2022 00:00:00 +0000

Kamala is on the loose again, screwing everything up once more.

AP:

In a show of defiance, North Korea fired two short-range ballistic missiles into the sea on Thursday, hours after U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris flew home from a visit to South Korea during which she traveled to the Demilitarized Zone separating the two Koreas and emphasized the “ironclad” U.S. commitment to the security of its Asian allies.

It was the third round of missile launches by North Korea this week, extending a record pace in weapons testing as it accelerates a push to expand its arsenal and pressure Washington to accept it as a nuclear power.

South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said the missiles were fired nine minutes apart from an area just north of the capital, Pyongyang, and flew toward waters between the Korean Peninsula and Japan.

Japan’s military said it also detected the launches. North Korea fired two short-range ballistic missiles on Wednesday, while Harris was in Japan, and one before she left Washington on Sunday.

Harris earlier capped her four-day trip to Asia with a meeting with South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and a stop at the Demilitarized Zone, where she addressed the threat posed by the increasingly hostile North.

There are concerns that North Korea may soon conduct a nuclear test, which would move the country closer to being acknowledged as a full-fledged nuclear power.

Visiting the DMZ has become something of a ritual for American leaders hoping to show their resolve to stand firm against aggression.

No it hasn’t.

At the DMZ, Harris went to the top of a ridge, near guard towers and security cameras. She looked through bulky binoculars as a South Korean officer pointed out military installations on the southern side. Then an American officer pointed out some of the defenses along the military demarcation line, including barbed-wire fences and claymore mines. He said American soldiers regularly walk patrols along a path.

“It’s so close,” Harris said.

Harris then visited one of a row of blue buildings that straddle the demarcation line, where an American officer explained how the buildings are still used to conduct negotiations with North Korea. Sometimes they pass messages back and forth and sometimes they use a megaphone, he said.

“That’s high tech,” Harris joked, before adding, “We’ve stepped into history.”

“It’s still going,” the colonel said.

Harris agreed. “The past and present are happening every day.”

Oh come on.

Why does she talk like this? Isn’t there someone to tell her not to talk like this?

Why is the Vice-President of America a Hindu woman in the first place?

What are we doing here?

Visiting the DMZ is not normal.

Donald Trump did it to meet Kim. That is normal. Just visiting with the SK military is not normal, and Kim’s response of firing off missiles was very normal.
