Quentin Tarantino has unchained the truth about Kanye West taking credit for coming up with the concept of “Django Unchained.”

Tarantino, who won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay for the film in 2012, cleared the air on Ye’s claim while appearing on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on Saturday.

Toward the end of their 20-minute interview, Kimmel excitedly asked Tarantino about the claims West made during his “Piers Morgan Uncensored” interview.

“Well, there’s not truth that Kanye West came up with the idea of ‘Django,’ Tarantino said, “And then he told it to me and I go, ‘Hey wow, that’s a really great idea. Let me take Kanye’s idea and make ‘Django Unchained’ out of it.’ That didn’t happen.”

The director assured Kimmel and his audience that he had the idea for Django well before he even met West.

Tarantino says he met West while he was looking to do a feature film for his 2004 album “The College Dropout” and claims the meeting was an excuse to meet one another.

“He did have an idea for a video and I do think it was for the ‘Gold Digger,’” Tarantino said, saying that he thought West’s idea for the music video was “very funny.”

The filmmaker said he wished West had followed through with making the music video as they discussed, saying it sounded “really cool.”

“He did share an idea with me that was the same as that movie I made, but it was just a big coincidence.”

Yeah, okay.

The term “person of color” is too offensive.

Let’s get one thing straight. I am an African woman. I am not a “person of colour”.

Martin Luther King Jr coined “citizens of colour” in his 1963 “I Have a Dream” speech, and later the term became popular with justice activists in the 80s. But the phrase’s origin dates back further than the civil rights era. In 1807 the Act Prohibiting Importation of Slaves, a federal law that stated no new slaves were permitted to be imported into any port or place within the jurisdiction of the US, describes slaves as “any negro, mulatto, or person of colour”. That’s right: “person of colour” is a term to describe slaves.

The fact that us “non-whites” are lumped together into some absurd category of being “people of colour” further reinforces whiteness as the norm. It strips away our individual experiences, and instead decides the colour of our skin is what’s relevant.

There’s also another reason why this term is so distasteful when it is specifically used to describe black people. When I am called a “person of colour”, what I hear is being called a “coloured person” – a phrase that has only recently slipped out of common parlance. Apart from the N word, it is one of the most offensive terms used to describe a black person.

Academy Award-winning filmmaker Quentin Tarantino joined hundreds of demonstrators waving signs, shouting through megaphones and marching along the city’s streets on Saturday to protest police brutality nationwide.

“I’m a human being with a conscience,” said Tarantino, who flew in from California for the event. “And if you believe there’s murder going on then you need to rise up and stand up against it. I’m here to say I’m on the side of the murdered.”

The group gathered Saturday in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village neighborhood at Washington Square Park before marching about 2 miles along Sixth Avenue. The protesters walked past lines of police officers who had cordoned off a lane of traffic for them. As they moved, those with megaphones shouted stories of the slain as others waved signs with photos of the dead, mostly young black men, and the dates and places of their deaths.

Django unchained actress Daniele Watts was detained by the LAPD for allegedly having sex in her car and trying to flee when police arrived. The LAPD detained Watts as a possible prostitute.

Watts then appears on national television claiming she was harassed because she was black.
