“America is an idea — an idea is stronger than any army, bigger than any ocean, more powerful than any dictator,” President Biden says in an Oval Office address.

I don’t know what “America is an idea” means. I’ve never understood the core concept of that phrase.

America is not an idea, it’s a territory with borders and people who live within those borders who are supposed to be represented by a government.

Claiming that America is both “an idea” and “ruled by the people” is contradictory, and even more confusing.

How can people rule an idea?

The Guardian:

Joe Biden addressed the nation Wednesday to explain his historic decision to withdraw from the presidential race, delivering a reflective and hopeful message about the need to begin a new chapter in America’s story.

“I believe my record as president, my leadership in the world, my vision for America’s future all merited a second term, but nothing – nothing – can come in the way of saving our democracy. That includes personal ambition,” Biden said in the Oval Office.

“So I’ve decided the best way forward is to pass the torch to a new generation. It’s the best way to unite our nation. You know, there is a time and a place for long years of experience in public life. There’s also a time and a place for new voices, fresh voices – yes, younger voices. And that time and place is now.”

“America is an idea, an idea stronger than any army, bigger than any ocean, more powerful than any dictator or tyrant. It’s the most powerful idea in the history of the world,” Biden said. “That idea is that we hold these truths to be self-evident. We’re all created equal, endowed by our creator with certain inalienable rights: life, liberty, pursuit of happiness. We’ve never fully lived up to it, to this sacred idea, but we’ve never walked away from it either, and I do not believe the American people will walk away from it now.”

Well, I don’t know if that is an “idea” or just political rhetoric.

Regardless, it was a statement made by a man, Thomas Jefferson, who owned more than 700 black slaves.

So… idk.

It was a message that echoed Biden’s campaign slogan in 2020, which framed the election against Trump as a “battle for the soul of the nation”. That battle remains ongoing, Biden said, and it will now be up to the American people to decide how it will end.

“The great thing about America is here, kings and dictators do not rule. The people do,” Biden said. “History is in your hands. The power is in your hands. The idea of America lies in your hands. You just have to keep faith – keep the faith – and remember who we are.”

“The people” being a collective entity with a will actually is “an idea,” and one that is largely useless for any sort of political purpose.

In any of the systems that the US government labels “autocracy,” the average person is more contented and free than he is in any country the US labels “a democracy.”

Most of “the people” probably would not be willing to sacrifice personal autonomy, freedom, and opportunity in order to be part of “an idea,” if they understood that these were the terms.

That is why democracy governments are so fixated on keeping people in a state of confusion, if not outright delirium.

(By the way: that looks like him. I know people are saying he may have already died, and I agree that’s possible, and this could easily be an AI speech. On the other side of that, though, there is no real evidence that he’s dead.)

Faggot Anti-Monarchy, Democracy Peasants Terrorize King Charles’ Coronation, Get Arrested https://www.anglinarchive.com/2023/05/07/faggot-anti-monarchy-democracy-peasants-terrorize-king-charles-coronation-get-arrested/ Sun, 07 May 2023 00:00:00 +0000

A number of anti-monarchy protesters from the group Republic were arrested at a demonstration in London that took place on the day of King Charles III’s coronation. Graham Smith, the group’s leader, was among those arrested. https://t.co/zrKWve0liI pic.twitter.com/fFxgOORvbc

I watched most of the coronation.

Aside from the diversity, which actually made me sick, I think it was beautiful.

I didn’t write about it because everyone is writing about it and I didn’t really have much to say about it.

There’s also a sadness to it. It is all of these old traditions, still alive, but my faith in Charles is low.

Of course, I hope and pray he’s a good king.

Statistically, it does not seem very likely.

I did, however, find it funny that “people” – presumably funded by an American-backed NGO – went out and protested against the existence of the monarchy and were promptly arrested.

Reuters:

Police arrested the leader of the anti-monarchy group Republic hours before King Charles’ coronation on Saturday, taken away from a few hundred protesters who had gathered among the crowds lining the procession route in central London.

Republic had said it would mount the biggest protest against a British monarch in modern history. Protesters wore yellow t-shirts to stand out and held up signs saying “Not My King”.

They spent most of the service booing or singing songs such as “he is just a normal man”.

But London police had warned they would take action if protesters tried to “obstruct the enjoyment and celebration” of the day, and they formed a ring around the group.

The group’s website has an “about” page that does not disclose funding.

This is always a red flag. Every group like this has funding, and if they are keeping it a secret, they have a reason to do so.

Republic said its leader Graham Smith had been detained on Saturday morning and a photo posted on Twitter showed him sitting on the ground surrounded by police officers.

Police did not confirm Smith’s arrest but said they had arrested four people on suspicion of causing a public nuisance and three people on suspicion of possessing articles to cause criminal damage in what they called a “significant police operation”.

Republic said hundreds of its placards had been seized.

Protests also took place in Glasgow in Scotland and Cardiff in Wales, with signs held up saying: “Abolish the monarchy, feed the people.” On social media, many contrasted the cost of living crisis in Britain with the pomp and pageantry on display at the coronation.

Although the protesters were in a minority compared with the tens of thousands gathered on London’s streets to support the king, polls suggest support for the monarchy is declining and is weakest among young people.

With the crown passing from Queen Elizabeth to her less popular son, republican activists hope Charles will be the last British monarch to be crowned.

“It has a hereditary billionaire individual born into wealth and privilege who basically symbolises the inequality of wealth and power in our society,” said lawmaker Clive Lewis, who was among the anti-monarchy protesters.

This is the great fear – the abolishing of the monarchy.

A bad king is better than no king.

If you have no king, you have a conundrum. You make everything that much more difficult to fix.

French Democracy Suffocates Will of the People With Tear Gas https://www.anglinarchive.com/2023/05/02/french-democracy-suffocates-will-of-the-people-with-tear-gas/ Tue, 02 May 2023 00:00:00 +0000

People took to the streets of #Paris again to protest against the pension reform. pic.twitter.com/3sZTgG46Ep

Democracy isn’t free. You must pay with all of your basic freedoms and your human dignity.

All of your money will be forfeit as well.

But that is nothing in comparison to the need to protect our values.

Reuters:

Workers marched across France in anger at President Emmanuel Macron’s increase in the retirement age on Monday, with police firing tear gas in Paris and the western city of Nantes, as protesters joined Labour Day rallies across Europe.

Macron’s popularity has plunged to near record lows hit during the “Yellow Vest” crisis after he stared down trade unions and multi-sector strikes and lifted the retirement age by two years to 64.

The move crystallised discontent against a president perceived by many as indifferent to their daily hardships and Macron has been met by boos, pot banging and heckles as he confronts citizens on walkabouts.

Sophie Binet, leader of the hardleft CGT union, said the pension reform had left Macron isolated.

“The executive cannot govern without the support of its people,” Binet said ahead of the Paris protest, adding her union had not yet decided on talks with the government on other work-related matters in the weeks ahead.

Laurent Berger, head of the reform-minded CFDT trade union, said Macron’s government had been deaf to the demands of one of the most powerful social movements in decades.

He said his union was open to discussions with the government and dismissed suggestions that a rare alliance between the leading trade unions was being tested now that the pension bill had been signed into law.

“We must bring other proposals over salaries and working conditions to the table,” he told BFM TV.

…

Macron says the French reform is needed to keep one of the industrialised world’s most generous pension systems in the black.

French pension payments as a share of pre-retirement earnings are comfortably higher than elsewhere and a French man typically spends longer in retirement than those in other OECD nations.

Trade unions say the money can be found elsewhere.

The issue is: if this ever gets too hot, Macron can just surrender, and be replaced with someone exactly like Macron.

Then the protests stop.

That is the way democracy works.

It neutralizes the population.

French riots seem to be a waste of time.

In a democracy, the police can just destroy you.

Reuters:

French President Emmanuel Macron on Friday faced the gravest challenge to his authority since the so-called Yellow Vest protests after his decision to push through a contested pension overhaul without a vote prompted violent unrest overnight.

Cars were torched in Paris and other French cities in the evening during otherwise peaceful demonstrations involving several thousand people. Trade unions urged workers to step up and briefly blocked the Paris ring road on Friday.

“Something fundamental happened, and that is that, immediately, spontaneous mobilisations took place throughout the country,” hard-left leader Jean-Luc Melenchon said. “It goes without saying that I encourage them, I think that’s where it’s happening.”

The pension overhaul raises France’s retirement age by two years to 64, which the government says is essential to ensure the system does not go bust.

Unions, and most voters, disagree.

The French are deeply attached to keeping the official retirement age at 62, which is among the lowest in OECD countries.

More than eight out of 10 people are unhappy with the government’s decision to skip a vote in parliament, and 65% want strikes and protests to continue, a Toluna Harris Interactive poll for RTL radio showed.

Going ahead without a vote “is a denial of democracy…a total denial of what has been happening in the streets for several weeks,” 52-year-old psychologist Nathalie Alquier said in Paris. “It’s just unbearable.”

I think people should have freedom.

But freedom is totally incompatible with democracy.

French Democracy Passes Pension Reform Against the Will of Literally Everyone https://www.anglinarchive.com/2023/03/12/french-democracy-passes-pension-reform-against-the-will-of-literally-everyone/ Sun, 12 Mar 2023 00:00:00 +0000

The biggest problem in democracy is that the people have no representation. They have no ability to petition grievances or affect the function of government in any way.

Somehow, democracy people (“the Jews”) have convinced people the opposite of that is true? I don’t really understand how anyone could think that, but apparently some people think that democracy has some kind of ability for people to impact government function.

If you ask people how it works, however, or when the popular opinion has impacted the functioning of a democracy, you will be met with sputtering.

RT:

The upper house of the French parliament has given the green light to pension reforms proposed by President Emmanuel Macron. The initiatives, which include hiking the retirement age, have triggered staunch opposition from large sections of society.

Late on Saturday, 195 senators voted in favor of the plans, with 112 opposing them – an outcome described by Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne as an “important stage,” as quoted by AFP. Senators had already approved a key article contained in the bill on Thursday.

The reform package is now expected to be reviewed by a joint committee of lower and upper house MPs on Wednesday. A final draft, provided there is one, will be then submitted for a concluding vote in both chambers later in the week.

As French media point out, a constitutional tool known as article 49/3 allows for the possibility of Macron’s government pushing the legislation through even without a vote.

According to Macron, by raising the retirement age from 62 to 64, the government would ensure the French pension system is financially sustainable. The alternative, he argues, would be “decreasing pensions, raising taxes, or letting our children and grandchildren carry the financial burden.”

The French are the one group of Western whites who might actually do something.

But they probably won’t.

Germany: (((Election Committee))) Bans 2/3rds of AfD Candidates From Regional Election https://www.anglinarchive.com/2019/07/07/germany-election-committee-bans-2-3rds-of-afd-candidates-from-regional-election/ Sun, 07 Jul 2019 00:00:00 +0000 Spartacus

If you’re totally not Nazis, and in fact you’re just a bunch of short-haired women, Germany will ban you from being in politics just for saying infinity immigrants is ill-advised.

They’re polling in first place, but now they might literally not even be capable of filling all the seats they win.

Because democracy.

Breitbart:

The Saxony election committee has refused to allow two-thirds of the candidates of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) to run in this year’s regional election, citing technical discrepancies.

Only two months before the region of Saxony goes to the polls, the region’s election committee has decided that the populist AfD will only be allowed to run 18 of their 61 candidates in what is seen as a massive blow to the party, which is tied for first place in the region in many polls, Tagesspiegel reports.

The committee highlighted the fact that AfD held party congresses on two separate occasions to pick their list of candidates, using two separate election methods.

This, according to the committee, meant that only the first party congress, which saw 18 candidates selected, was actually valid.

This is insane.

I’ve never in my life heard of people not being allowed to run because of their party’s selection process.

If all the party members agreed and approved on the selection process, then the government has absolutely no business in this.

This is a very forced excuse they’re using here.

The ruling is a massive blow to the party which was expected to gain as many as 30 seats in the 120-seat chamber, bringing into question whether the party will be able to fill the seats.

The only way the party will be able to mitigate the effect of the ruling will be to win direct mandates which are secured seats. Polling websites claim the party could potentially win between 27 and 30 direct mandates but could still be left with vacant seats.

This is the most democracy thing ever – especially since this (((committee))) was entirely staffed by their direct competitors.

State chairman of the AfD in Saxony, Jörg Urban labelled the move a “conspiracy” by the establishment saying the other parties were attempting to “weaken the strongest political competitor in the regional elections in Saxony.”

The Saxony branch of the AfD say they will appeal the committee decision but such an appeal will only be allowed to take place after the election.

They’re not even letting them appeal the decision until there’s no point in appealing it anymore!

100% values and principles.

While the AfD has seen election gains election after election and sits in the German parliament as the official opposition, sections of the party were put under domestic surveillance earlier this year.

…

AfD branches and members have also been targetted by far-left extremists several times this year, including the firebombing of a party office in Döbeln and the alleged attempted assassination of Bremen party chair Frank Magnitz.

Yeah, this isn’t gonna end with elections.

These people want to exterminate us.

The entire “democratic process” has failed, because it was never meant to work for any other purpose than disenfranchising white people. That is the core concept of democracy. They believe they can use their total control of the completely censored media to get you to vote however they want you to vote, and when that fails, they just tell you the party you want to vote for isn’t allowed to run because… some technicality that doesn’t even make sense.
