Police have made an arrest in connection with a homicide at a Food Lion in Longs earlier this month, as well as several other crimes across Horry County.

James Laverne Bellamy, of Tabor City, North Carolina, was arrested by United States Marshals and Horry County Police Department Robbery/Homicide Detectives in Fair Bluff, North Carolina on Wednesday, according to John Harrelson with the HCPD.

The Marshals Taskforce took him into custody without incident and will extradite him back to Horry County to face charges, Harrelson says. Charges include one count of murder, two counts possession of a weapon during a violent crime, two counts of armed robbery, and three counts of kidnapping.

Police and the FBI are trying to find a serial bank robber who just struck for the third time in nine days.

A surveillance picture of the suspect shows him robbing the Citizens Bank branch on South Easton Road in Glenside Tuesday morning.

Detectives think the same man also robbed the PNC bank on North Broad Street last Monday and Santander Bank on South Easton Road in Wyncote last Wednesday.

A man was sentenced on Monday in a crime spree that resulted in the death of a woman in October 2016.

Kenneth McDonald was sentenced by Judge Doug Herndon to 32 years to life in the shooting. McDonald pleaded guilty to murder, attempted murder and discharging a gun into a vehicle.

McDonald’s defense attorney said he was high on the drug PCP at the time of the time, according to court information officer Mary Ann Price.
